Re: (313) speaking of stasis...
Yes i think that track also made it onto the Fake Fruit and Horrible Shoes compilation cd on Pure Plastic. I still love all the early Pure Plastic releases. They all had a great abstract techno-electro-electronica sound. Unfortunately the later Pure Plastic releases (starting with the Rue East, Ben Sims, and Kapla releases) tended to focus on more of a harder minimal techno sound. The same thing happened to the Ifach and Trelik labels. I long for the older abstract sounds of those labels... 20ft scarf is a killer track! -Original Message- From: Thomas D. Cox, Jr. [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 13 December 2005 17:48 that Daluq tune should be easy to find! its been out for ages Indeed it has but though I've searched many times I never managed to find a copy - leading me to the incorrect conclusion that it was a very limited promo that only peepz like bugz had - plus Maddslinky now lives in our neck of the woods and though I've had a contact on his case to ferret me out a copy there's been no joy (unless my contact kept it for himself!). However after a few helpful mails from Jari yesterday I went trawling the net again yesterday to find a copy on your side of the pond, ordered it, now it's fingers crossed time!
(313) New records
I've only bought about 4 records since June, so I've been completely jonesing. Decided to treat myself to a bit of pre-Xmas shopping as follows: AARDVARCK Cult Copy (Album Sampler) [Rushhour Holland ] -Jurren tipped this last week. I really like 1 and 3, but this is probably the best so far. One really good deep house cut and two very lush electroish tracks AFX Analord 09 [Rephlex] AFX Analord 10 [Rephlex] AFX Analord 11 [Rephlex] -All very nice. I'm missing 6 and 7 still. Not sold on 6 yet. Just need to get around to picking up 7 CHANDLER, Kerri/MANOO/DJ BERTRAND/JOVONN The 4 Colors EP [Deeply Rooted House US] -Both the Chandler and Jovonn tracks are sounding very nice to my ears. The Chandler track is quite stripped down, in a kinda NYC-minimal kinda way, if that makes any sense. Very atmospheric in a Natural Resource way too FURRY PHREAKS Mixed Messages EP (reissue) [Miso] -Slightly older, purchased for the B-side, 'Tearful', which has got some mad synthesis in parts HARRIS, Quentin Let's Be Young [Unrestricted Access US] -I heard Lindstromm play this in Panorama in September. Had to get it. Sounds dope in a club KAHIL EL ZABAR Deeper Soul Remix Project Sampler [Deeper Soul] -Both the Henrik Schwarz and Osunlade remixes are fantastic. The Osunlade one sounds like the most primal thing I've ever heard in a house track ROMAN So Ghost? (remixes) [Kalk Pets Germany] -Losoul and Pascal Schaeffer remixes are both excellent Tristan === [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.phonopsia.co.uk

RE: (313) speaking of Pure Plastic...
I want to clarify my previous statement regarding Pure Plastic-Mark Broom-etc. I own over 150 mark broom-related records on pureplastic-ifach-rewired-uxb-theory-a13-3zone-d1-trelik-pal sl-new electronica-ferox-plink plonk records. owning that many broom records, you can see i respect and enjoy broom co's works immensly. my statement was in reference to broom's, pure plastic's, and ifach's more recent minimal techno outings which I dont like as much as some of the more melodic abstract outings in past releases. for minimal techno it is great stuff but i have lost my taste for minimal techno over the past few years. so i second eamonn's praise for the pure plastic guys. they have consistently released quality and often challenging undergrounding techno. I can't speak highly enough about the guys Pure Plastic. I've never come across as genuine a group of people in all my dealings with any DJs , producers and distributors over the years ! RE: (313) speaking of Pure Plastic...
lance, it's not all minimal techno - can't be, i hate most of the stuff.. honestly, look at the distribution site - so many labels, so many styles.. some of it like paul mac and vince watson's inluenced label is deadly.. a record made by steve picton, ed handley, andy turner, baby ford, mark broom and dave hill would've had both the idm and 313 lists frothing at their grubby mouths 10 years ago - how come not now?.. personally i think the split between listening music and dancefloor music has just about killed all that was good about techno - so we're really lucky to have people like broom and hill who just don't acknowledge it exists..
(313) M.A.N.D.Y., OLIVER HACKE, DEADBEAT in NYC Friday

(Get Physical | Berlin) Oliver Hacke (Traum, Trapez | Dusseldorf) Deadbeat (~scape | Montreal) Jordan Dare (Montreal) M.A.N.D.Y. run the super-hot Get Physical label in Berlin with DJ T and Booka Shade. Thier Body Language mix CD, released on Get Physical earlier this year, has made them some of the most sought after electro-house DJs in the world. They have been a leading force in dance music the past couple years, with records in virtually every DJ's bag. http://physical-music.com/artists/mandy/mandy_bio_e.php Oliver Hacke is a rising star in the international techno community. He released his debut album, Subject Carrior, on Trapez last year to much critical acclaim. His tracks have been included on mixes by Superpitcher, Thomas Brinkmann, Triple R, and Wighnomy Brothers. He has released many incredible 12s on Trapez, including the incredible Der Vampir Von Dusseldorf, one of the most sought after Trapez Limited releases to date. He is a favorite of all of us here at the Bunker, so you hear his tracks grace our dancefloor quite often. Those of you who made it to his DJ set at Wolf+Lamb earlier this year know that he is a formidable DJ with great taste and mixing skills. http://www.traumschallplatten.de/ All three Deadbeat full lengths on ~scape have been spun many times in the early evening at the Bunker, and they usually bring the trainspotters running up to find out what the hell it is. (313) photos of your favorite record shops?
Wow - can't believe I found a picture of Let it Be records this is the shop that recently got shut down to make way for a 50 story condo it was the last of the great vinyl record shops in the downtown area (there's still a few in the surrounding city) this was my favorite shop in Minneapolis - what you see is just the very front of the store the shop went back about another 30-40 feet, had a basement area with dance records and continued into an employees and lucky few storage area that was like a massive catacombs. Loads of artists had in store appearances, shopped there, and knew Ryan (the owner) personally. It was great finding rare imports there, bizarre stuff you wouldn't find anywhere else in town, great music related promotional items, etc. Fitting that the last record bought there was The Beatles Let it Be http://news.minnesota.publicradio.org/features/2004/02/03_robertsc_indierecords/images/checkout_large.jpg MEK
