Süd Electronic Are back on the 27th Of October , continuing with the
birthday theme . Any excuse for a shindig :)

A massive thanx to all that were in attendence at the September
celebrations . ! Come out and join in again though at this one ! :) .

We are extremely excited about this one also about the venue . Cable
street studios are rather magnificent , and Cable Street as a whole is
an area with some rather important history .

Cable Street Studios occupies the building that, from 1864 till 1940,
was used by Batger's Co Confectioners as a factory for manufacturing
boiled sweets, crackers, bonbons, lozenges, wedding cakes, jams, etc.
In 1940, when the building was badly bombed, Batger's had opened new
premises in Clapham Common .
The building then became used by a variety of light industries and
warehouses, mainly by the fabric trades, untill the 1980's when the
first artists studios were converted .

Now housing around 50 artists studios , the infamous Trannie Shack ,
called Stunners :) the space we will be using , called Unit 7 .
This is a very exciting building indeed ! . The venue also has a
massive soundsystem ! .:)

Moving on swiftly to the line up :

We are very pleased to have these 2 German artists come and play !
They are both resposnsible for some of our favourite releases of late .

Audio Werner

Born in Heilbronn , Germany ; Andreas Werner started djaying in 1991 ,
but his passion for house dates back since the late 80's . He got
involved in organising illegal warehouse parties in the mid 90's . He
decided to move to Cologne in 1996 to concentrate on releasing music
. In a short space of time , he is already the toast of and touted as
a force to be reckoned with . His first release was in 1997 on
'Ware' His is now releasing on some rather prestigious labels such as
Perlon . Though for me his Hartchef Discos output has been some of the
best records he has put out . Truly inspiring exciting house music
of recent times . He has since been playing at some of the most well
known clubs in Europe and other parts of the world . He is a great dj
so come and check him out .

Click on the link below for his discography
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Audio+Werner

Shed

We are thoroughly excited to be hosting Shed's first UK appearance .
We have been feverishly collecting each release with his name on it .
Releasing his first record in 2004 , he has already gained some rather
heavy weight fans like Derrick May , Juan Atkins , Laurent Garnier ,
Francois K , Lawrence , Carsten Jost , Cassy , the much revered
Hardwax Crew e.t.c . With the most deepest of releases and very fresh
sounding releases , this should be a great live performance .

click on the link below for his discography
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Shed

Portable / Bodycode

Alan Abrahams , the man who puts a zing into an Ableton Live
performance , will be back with his first perfomance combining both
his alter egos . He will be previewing some rather tasty 'Portable'
tracks , as well as new Body Code material scheduled for release ,
next year . I could go on about how great he is , but why don't you
rather come and check him out ! :)

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Portable
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Bodycode

Email the email address above in advance for the £8 List .

Please Note there will not be a November Party . The next date after
this one , is the 15th of December .

Hope to see you on the 27th !

Yeah, it's the same B12. They've played a few times in London in the last
couple of years but I've never been able to make it. I don't recall hearing
any overwhelming reports about their performances. To be honest, Cristian
Vogel, Neil Landstrumm and The Grid are the most appealing people on that
lineup to me. Don't think I can make it, but for some reason I'm not that
fussed.

That's a mighty line up, I've been looking for London

I guess it depends what's exciting. Split's 3rd birthday on Saturday was
really good for either end of the house/techno spectrum. You had Sims and
Surgeon doing Frequency 7 for almost three hours and Sims also did a wicked
funk/disco set upstairs, which was one of the best sets of that sort I've
seen. So well put together and executed. All the other DJs were wicked too,
particularly Tony Anderson, who played some fantastic house wares. There's
no doubt this a reliable party. The second room is consistently excellent
even if the sometimes boshier side of things in room 1 isn't to your taste.
There was also Terrence Parker in September and UR in August via OC don't
forget.

I may as well shamelessly plug the Vibert/Universal Indicator (Mike Dred)
gig on the 4th of Nov, which I don't think has been posted here yet:
http://www.plexlondon.net/041106.html. I think I'm playing the opening set
in the main room, so if you're sending people, send them early! ;) Drinks
are relatively cheap at the Sub Club.

Henrik Schwarz is playing Plastic People on November 23 as well, but that's
a Thursday. I'll be sure to let you know how it went when I'm in Manchester
on the 24th . :)

Oh, and we've been in the midst of Steve Reich's 70th birthday celebrations
at The Barbican, which have been well good (except for 'The Cave', but I'll
spare you that rant). 'Music for 18 Musicians' (my favorite Reich
composition) on Sunday was phenomenal. Definitely one of the bestest things
everer. Definitely something to be seen and heard. Bang on a Can were good
too. Missed Konono 1. :/

Things have a been a bit slow this year though, which probably suits most of
us ageing types.

You need to go to night of DMZ with some good mates and experience it,
as Bone says, no pills, no lights, no fights, just music, music you can
feel. Paul been banging on about it since 2004 and it didn't click with
me until I started going out to the nights...

Yeah that was yet another night. Didn't have the choice then either!

And for those that mailed saying 3 Chairs no contest (I bet you can all guess
at least one person to do so ;-), someone else has
just mailed saying the PA at the gaff is rubbish :-(

That will be me. I went to see Public Enemy at the old Boddingtons
brewery (Manchester) the other night. They have two rooms, one a huge
warehouse style space and the other (which is the one that will be used
for 3 chairs) which is a lot smaller.

I couln't really tell what the small space would sound like as it was
empty but had a small _looking_ PA running. I guess that could sound OK
but there was no way of telling when full of people.

The main room where UR will be playing had the most appauling sound I've
heard in a while. An ear ringing wall of noise. Which on the face of it
doesn't bode well.

However we got in touch with the organisers and they said they'd re-done
their setup (as PE was one of the first nights) and things were now a
lot better. So in fairness to them it could still be good. And nothing
beats the boom of a PA in a large warehouse right? :)

I guess we'll see.

Ah well here's hoping!
The only criticisim that people have mentioned to us from the weekend relates
to the sound - I'll give them (I mean the WP
themselves not Ear To The Ground) another - having to read all that in that
poxy little box where you're having to scroll left/right
as well as up/down to see the text!

Yeah - I'm really digging that video too - even though the sound is
crappy - he's such a good dj it's difficult to stop watching.

I've no answer to your question Ben but while we're asking for ids from
that set there's this track he plays at 40 mins 30 secs that I've been
searching for, for atleast 10 years.it's before he cuts in a
Funkadelic edit and then he cuts back into the track I'm interested in
at 45 mins. I've heard heaps of detroit djs play it out but could never
find what it isat some stage I was thinking it was dbx.any
clues from any learned spotters here?
