RE: [313] Two Moody Q's

2000-11-20 Thread Stewart Moroney
The Black Sunday 12 was a 2-sided ep and contained Just another black
Sunday with grandma which appeared on the album and an instrumental version
of Me and my people's eyes. Me and my people's eyes was exclusive at
the time, but has now been re-released as the b-side on the Don't you want
my love single on Peacefrog. Definitely worth getting if you missed the
1st Peacefrog single, the instrumental is far superior to the vocal version
on the album.

Stewart

 2) Can anyone tell me the tracklisting on
the old Black Sunday 12 that was the
promo for Mahogany Brown? Does it have a
track exclusive to the album, or is it just
Black Sunday? I thought it had an exclusive,
but then I heard it was one-sided (which
wouldn't surprise me - what the heck is with
Kenny and these one-sided records!)

 Thanks,

 Matt

RE: [313] Andres double

I don't have the original of you can dance if you want to so I don't know
if it has already been released. But I do have a recently re-released copy
of In loving mememory that has the same version of the track on it on the
B-side.

It's quite a long track with a recurring sax loop and Yeah and A
vocal samples. Does that remind you of any of the original versions?

When I said he was taking the piss I didn't mean by re-releasing old
material, I was talking about releasing different versions of eps but not
marking them as being different. I think he has done this with the Small
black church ep as well, I don't know which tracks have been changed on it
though.

but how does it *sound* ? Same or different?

U Can Dance if U Want 2 -- the whole concept is a remake/remix effort,
it's a prince song that he's redone (all the critics love U in new
york). Thus all the diff. versions of it, using some or another element
of the original. The original doublepack on KDJ of this (with the
X-rated pics and no credits on the label, if I recall) has many versions
of the track on it. I don't think he's taking the piss w/ that track,
the whole concept is variations on the theme.

It's prob. a good thing for people who missed the original cause those
 copies are long gone now...

A track id with a difference

2000-05-17 Thread Stewart Moroney
Hi all

I've been looking for a track featured on a Dave Clarke set broadcast from
the Fuse club a couple of years ago. Its a sort of hard Chicago number,
maybe DJ Funk/Dancemania. I know no one will be able to remember the track
if I just describe it, so I've added a real audio sample of it to my web
site for everyone to hear.

Any chance the folks on this list could have a listen and enlighten me?

Just click the link on my (seriously empty) new web page
http://www.smoroney.clara.net/

Suppose this will be a wee test that I can real audio working on my page.
DJ mixes to come?

Thanks in advance

New Purpose Maker

2000-05-03 Thread Stewart Moroney
Not sure who asked for info on the new Mills ep, haven't seen anyone else's
review so here is my take on it.

Pm-10 Circus ep

2 long (for purpose maker) mixes of the same track both featuring a sample
from Earth People's Dance (Bonus Beats) and the usual samba drums and
whistles ect. The A side The Greatest Show on Earth Mix (my favorite) is
on a more tribal vibe with a spidery synth part similar to scenario on the
More Drama ep. The second mix The Grand Finale Mix is not as frantic,
with extra samba drums and a different bassline.

I'm surpised no one else has mentioned this yet, is it cause everyone just
buys these without listening? Or does no one talk about them cause they
all sound the same now ;)

 records.
That's what I think of when I think of Tribal techno - organic super deep
drummy sh*t. Tribal Cuts Vol 1, Grain, Cosmic, Bicknell, this
 stuff sounds
 like
it could have been recorded straight from the most wicked drum circle you
 never
 heard.

RE: (313) Pacou Maurizio Remixes LL

2000-03-09 Thread Stewart Moroney
One of the tracks on LL01 sounds very Maurizio like (m5 but a bit more
chunky) and I've heard that it's a collaboration between Maurizio and Pacou,
not heard of any actual remix ep though.

RE: (313) Road To Rio

2000-03-09 Thread Stewart Moroney
I think santos may be bicknell in disguise, ID 2 by oliver ho has just came
out. It's usual Ho material, tribal beats with spooky vocal samples in the
background. Good stuff

Going back a little to the tribal thread : Does anyone have any
 info in the
Santos Rodriguez track Road To Rio released on Bicknell's Cosmic offshoot
Cosmic ID (the only ID release?)? is it Bicknell in disguise? if not has
Rodriguez done other stuff? it's an incredible track.but then
 i love the
 whole bicknell/Lost sound...
For tracky/tribal techno stuff you can't beat the User releases
 (particularly 003A).
 peace,

(313) kdj, old but new?

2000-03-04 Thread Stewart Moroney
On the kdj subject.

Whats all this about new versions of old releases. I've heard that some of
his old eps (small black church, the set up, in loving memory, possibly
more) have been re-released with some or all of the tunes replaced by new
tracks. Is he trying to confuse us all. I've a hard enough time finding
the tracks I missed (you can dance if you want to, if anyone can point me
in the right direction...) without re-finding and checking the ones I've
already got to get new tunes!.

You should be happy that there is 2 tracks... most of his one
siders only have 1 track you're getting a 2 for 1 deal...

By the way - has any one checked out the Theo Parrish that's being released
on
Trackmode? I just heard the white label a week or two ago and it's sick.

KDJ M n' G-005 Good sounding stuff unfortunately only 2 tracks,
one's floor friendly. Sure wish there was more than a one sided deal here.
