Yep, and its a perfect bridge between the two - easily my favourite Beatles album. IMO its much more psychedelic in the real sense than Sgt Pepper, which is kind of over-blown in places and definitely too clean overall. Now somebody try to tell me the Beatles are off-topic on ANY music list :-) Sean. -Original Message- From: Robert Taylor [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 04 July 2003 16:36 To: Lester Kenyatta Spence Cc: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) track id HERE COMES THE SUN I think it came out in 66, between Rubber Soul and Sgt Pepper -Original Message- From: Lester Kenyatta Spence [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, July 04, 2003 2:33 PM To: Robert Taylor Cc: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) track id HERE COMES THE SUN On Fri, 4 Jul 2003, Robert Taylor wrote: Revolver No...where is this album in their chronology? # Note: Any views or opinions are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Channel Four Television Corporation unless specifically stated. ah. i wasn't familiar with the album, only the tracks. eleanor rigby is the sh*t! have to track down tomorrow never knows.
RE: (313) track id HERE COMES THE SUN
i'm thinking they're not quite THAT funky. Paul McCartney - Secret Friend thats my tip for today. Say, Say, Say. But that could be the MJ factor. I'm sure this is debatable, but Tomorrow never knows might just be just be the first pop music number to use loops. Tape-loops, drum loops, etc... So i guess without the Beatles, we might not have techno. The really amazng thing was that TNK was the first song they recorded for Revolver. Talk about a quantum leap. _ - End of message text This e-mail is sent by the above named in their individual, non-business capacity and is not on behalf of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Re: (313) track id
sounds like a sample from the Amelie soundtrack I can't listen to rm at work :(, but there is a record out last Christmas with 2 nice remixes of the Amelie theme. It first came out as a promo with no artist name, but I think it was released again as being by Luciano - Amelie On Ice. It's got a weird b-side that I didn't think much of, but the 2 amelie remixes are spot on! If you are looking for the track on some p2p network look for Unknown_Artist_-_Amelie_On_Ice_(MGLT001)-VLS-2002-TR Cheers Matt --- [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Just before ESG went on the DJ played a track that had Welcome to my world of music (or something like that) as the main vocal hook. It was an extended workout with horns, percussion, and sounded like it fit neatly on any of the older disco labels. Any clues who it is? I'd like to hear it again. ESG did rock...I kept thinking it was kinda' like seeing an early Talking Heads with that minimal shuffle. Great show. Thanks. Leslie

Hmmm... Could it be Soul Saver by Gerald (or is it Gerard?) Mitchell which appears on the Interstellar Fugitives 3xEP produced by UR? There's a vocal line which repeats I'm the Soul Saver and something like Get on the dance floor, let me see you shake that/your booty. No, Remco means something else! It is the track that Laurent Garnier played at the I Love Techno festival in ´99 just before rhythm plate - prospect drive. After that track he plats good life (carl craig mix) and the b-side of work it from blake baxter and trevor rockliffe on sok records. Then he played Ignacio - Virton, if I remember correctly.. followed by kiko - world cup and d-shake - techno trance That´s all I remember ;) This is actually the best LG set that I ever heard! Cheers, Maarten

(313) Track id - help!
Heard a Richie Hawtin (live @ Mixmag) in Toronto - 96'? Can't believe how much his mixing/music style has changed. The set is composed of mostly acidhouse/tech stuff. The last track that my friend has recorded is the track I'm seeking. It's this melodic/acid track where the melody rolls in then the acid line rolls in and they keep playing with eachother throughout the track, then this women vocal comes in - she's not actually saying anything, just doing the soul hum thing to the melody - pretty sexy. He keeps the track on for quite awhile compared to some of the other stuff he played during the set. This might be difficult because I don't have to much information - so if this doesn't ring a bell I'll look for more specifics and re-send this. Appreciate the help! Luke

Nice LP, nice track. However, I have some misgivings abt the underlying idea: that house has somehow been distorted by excessive modernism, hard beats, electronic emphasis - it seems to want to put the genie back into the bottle: I remember house when it really was a spiritual thing. Catchy phrase, but would I really want to not have had 'glitch house'? Also, some of the prime proponents of new styles in house it seemed to me during the 90s were none other than Blaze themselves. This is muddled or misguided thinking to me. Note well though, I love Hedge and Milan to bits, love every single thing they've done to bits including the whole of the latest album, I just think the idea of creating a dichotomy between 'rootsy' and 'modern' is wrong and you'll find all sorts of people and soul on either side of that artificial divide. k -Original Message- From: Mark S. Re: (313) Track ID
I agree Ken - but I think Do You Remember House? sucks :) I was born in 1977, so no, I don't remember house before it was house. Shoot me. I Think Of You and Gloria's Muse from the LP are both ace, but another Blaze triumph last year was their collaboration with LLV for Brand New Day. And I completely agree about it dividing people along soulful vs punk lines in their attitude to house, which is a shame. I know which side I'd rather be on, but great music is made without a guiding theory, rather just listening to your own voice - to get all hokey - and pointless genre divisions obscure that fact. However, I have some misgivings abt the underlying idea: that house has somehow been distorted by excessive modernism, hard beats, electronic emphasis - it seems to want to put the genie back into the bottle: I remember house when it really was a spiritual thing.
