I'm not as hook line and sinker on most of his stuff, although I am sort of in awe of it, but his Horror Inc. material is the business. He has one 12 on Revolver - both tracks excellent, and one other track on the Perlon Superlongevity 3 comp. All the Horror Inc. stuff is much more techno than most of his Akufen stuff. As he puts it, all of his music has his 'signature', which the Horror Inc. stuff definitely has, but it's all much more dubbed, spooky, ethereal and synthetic. I love it. I put the one from the Perlon comp on my latest mix if you wanna hear it. It's the track right after JAN. Tristan === http://www.phonopsia.co.uk [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I think you may be referring to Dandy Jack. Luciano played first- sort of a Perlon-on-Coke sound if you ask me. It was alright, but every time it started getting good, he'd find some way to screw it up. Akufen played second, which was a letdown for me. He was pretty much playing entire tracks from his records live on his laptop without much manipulation, and overall it lacked any serious energy. I left during Akufen's set but Carlos Souffront said that Dandy Jack came on after and ripped sh!t up for the lucky people who stuck around- some serious jackin stuff for the dance floor..too bad i missed it. p On Thu, 31 Oct 2002, Darren Longton (Marketing) wrote: Can anyone tell me who the second live act was at the Akufen party at the works last wknd? Re: [313] akufen
! That's really funny that you call it timeless. I just reviewed that record for next week's dustedmag.com and the review was about it being a timeless album. It is, though. It's really funky in a way that doesn't scream 2002! The samples are taken from broadcasts picked up on a shortwave radio in northern canada, and transformed into pseudo-house, pseudo-giorgio moroder dance hits. I second the high recommendation! More on the topic of detroit, i just got the arpanet record. Upon one listen I was very pleased! Grammenos, Peter writ: Minus his new album, can I get any Akufen on cd? He has a track on the mayer kompakt mix and also on the new swayzak groovetechnology v1.3, which by the way is an excellent tech-house mix. There are tracks from ellen allien, In spite of probably repeating myself here, I think Ellen Allien's album Stadtkind is absolutely gorgeous. Released in summer 2001 (?) on her own imprint Bpitchcontrol, it's so totally not last year. If you haven't been to Berlin you get to know the city through the tracks that come along in dark, in dub, in clubby, in playful, in downtempo, with spoken word (Ellen herself)... very atmospheric and hypnotic. If you know Berlin you'll recognise it in this album. : ) The track on Swayzak's Groovetechnology is Funkenflug der Träume, and with its slightly uptempo electrodubby beat and Ellen's spoken words it fits perfectly into the compilation - I won mine at the last Groovetech competition yay! (Sorry, couldn't resist - so rare I win anything that I'm well chuffed to be runner-up even, for once ; ) ). It was in the mail today and yes, 'tis rather a nice ride. : ) Ta-ra, Anya basic channel, ricardo villalobos, herbert, mayer, and monolake. -Pete - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

My Way, his new album, is set to drop May 7 (in Canada). I must say I am REALLY diggin all of Akufen's releases (that I have) in the last year or so. He's probably one of my fav recent artists. The anna Kaufen release rocks, and his Perlon double, the Trapez releases, and Tresor Stuff is also damn good. The two artists that have been doing it for me lately are Sterac and Morgan Geist (sometimes I just play Super over and over). In addition, there's Fabrice Lig, Splinterfaction, Daniel Wang, Duplex and all that lot too... and I am going through a funny old KMS records phase as well, with tracks like Bounce Your Body To The Box and Funky Funk Funk annoying the hell out of my up-tight neighbour on a nightly basis... part 1 or 2 ? -Original Message- From: Bill Van Loo [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, April 25, 2002 10:27 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: [313] akufen on klubradio.de - track ID? I've just been checking out this Akufen live set on Klubradio and was wondering if anybody could ID the track that starts at 16:00. Great, thank you, Hans! Looks like a trip to Record Time is in order. I haven't bought records in wy too long (though the side effect of that is that I end up digging through what I already have, which is rewarding in its own right).
