2009-08-12 Thread dinesh thole

Hai,
firstly, delete and recreate all the partitions of the harddisk as per your
preference.
secondly, install windows with another disk instead of the one you have
used.

Thirdly, use a licensed version of quickheal anti virus version 10.
Hope this helps.
Warm regards.

What should I do, any suggestion from you people please?
Is there any way, to get wrid from these problems?

In fact, I’m not techy, so help is highly anticipated.
Waiting anxiously for your responses, I’d like the programmers,

Dear Friend,

It is possible to work in Tally version 5.4 & later versions with JAWS.
Scrips for using Tally 6.3 & 7.2 are available for download from the NAB
Delhi website. Navigation in Tally can also be done by using the JAWS
cursor.

I have personally used various versions of Tally with JAWS during the past
six years. Tally is not as accessible as Word or Excel but working with the
JAWS cursor & the NAB Delhi scrips makes it mostly accessible.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has added a rider for offloading its
stake in the National Housing Bank (NHB) to the government by
suggesting it handle
the regulation, licensing and supervision of housing companies to
provide banks and housing finance companies a level playing field.

Housing finance companies are currently regulated by NHB, which is, in
turn, regulated by RBI. NHB is wholly-owned by RBI.

Sources close to the developments said the government is yet to take a
decision on the suggestion since RBI's proposal has met with some
opposition. Ownership
of NHB will give the government greater say in the boards of housing
finance institutions and flexibility to issue directions to meet its
priority sector
credit objectives.

RBI sources said the need for regulating housing companies arise
because they do not have prudential guidelines or risk-linked capital
limits to which banks,
which come under the central bank's purview, are subject.

Hi Aisha

Probably you can go for another round of formatting and reinstalling the OS.
However you need to take care of the following:
1 Perform Windows update
2 Install any one antivirus programme and update it
3 create a user account with restricted rights
4 Set a password for both your administrator and user accounts
5 After installing all the applications you need, login only with the user
account.
6 Regularly update you're your AV
7 Don't use any pen drives

Hopefully following these, it would solve your woes.

2009-08-12 Thread Naushad
Removing is very difficult when this virus is active because it will
turn off all your administrative privileges though your settings are
normal. I spend two three days to figure out about this virus using
internet. But I could not get any information about this particular
virus. So, I would like to know about your computer usage. Please answer
my questions below.

   * Does your computer connected to local area network?
   * Which version of windows you are using?
   * If windows xp, which service pack you are using?
   * Are you using windows update?
   * Which anti virus you are using regularly?
   * Is your windows copy legal?

I’ve tried scanning with different antiviruses like AVG, caspersky,

Folks:

I have been using Nokia 6600 with mobile speak for about six months.
Last week, the software stopped functioning. Whatever keys I press, I
kept getting "please register mobile speak." This message was read out
to me repeatedly whatever I did. I tried switching off and then
switching back on, while this worked for sometime the same message
started to repeat itself. I spent about Rs 500 to check the phone and
change the battery, no luck.

Now my next question is -If I were to use the most basic handset with
Talks, which would be the best one to buy. I am asking this in advance
since I feel the problem could be much deeper. Anyway, pl give me all
your valuable advice. I have been without the phone for about a week and
it looks like access will be limited for a while.

Re: [AI] extremely severe problem, help please!

2009-08-12 Thread Amar Jain
Aisha,

After reading all the mails I would suggest you following:

It is for sure that the problem is occuring due to some virus, and as you
have said that you have scanned with all the major antiviruses like
kaspersky, mcafee etc but still the issue is same, then use these softwares
to solve your problem.

SpyBot: An antispyware software, which detects the spywares, malwares and
removes it.

Browser Highjack: It also scan for rootkits etc, and fixes the common
homepage problem.

Unhack me: very good tool to solve such problems.

First try with spy bot, then let me know.

For downloading SpyBot, please go to

www.spybot.com

Your home page problem can be fixed via registry but could you please tell
me where you are taken when you open your browser? means, your homepage is
set to which location.

There is also a good tool called remove restrictions tool (RRT) which claims
to enable all the system restrictions which are caused by virus such as task
manager, registry editor, folder options hidden files etc.
I don't have the link for that, so I'll try to find once I recover from
fever.
Hope it helps,

Amar Jain.

body customers. For the same effect to take place involving disabled people,
ATMs will need to scale to meet accessibility standards. The ATM industry,
as well as banking industry all over the world, has made accessibility an
inherent part of its production and deployment. It is time that the
international leading players in the ATM industry extend their experience to
meet the Indian Banking Industry’s recognition to provide accessible banking
services for the persons with disabilities. We are happy that Diebold and
NCR have taken this initiative.”

Sharing his views, Pradeep Sen, Managing Director for NCR in India said,
“NCR is committed to investing in innovative self-service technologies that
would change the way people connect, interact and transact with businesses.
We are happy to showcase this ATM with features that would make banking
easier for the visually challenged, thereby, reinforcing our commitment of
making ATMs accessible to all types of consumers. NCR continues to work
closely with industry regulators and the banking fraternity to introduce
self-service solutions that are easy to use and most relevant in meeting
both social and economic objectives. As a part of our standard offering, all
NCR ATMs meet the ADA guidelines ensuring ‘Access For All’.”

Talking about the collaboration, Naresh Hosangady, Managing Director,
Diebold India said “Diebold has been providing innovative solutions to the
Indian ATM industry and we will continue to introduce newer technologies and
solutions for the Indian banking industry. We are delighted to be associated
with XRCVC to extend technological benefits for the ‘Specially Abled’.
Diebold machines comply with the ADA standards, are ergonomically designed
for the visually challenged, and have the capability of both touch screen
and Braille enabled function keys for enhanced user experience. For
personalized voice guidance, the machines are equipped with a head phone
jack and volume control features. To enhance security, the machines have the
capability of an integrated digital video recorder. We are proud to offer
ATMs for the specially abled and are looking at deployments across India as
per banks requirements.”

Access to financial services has become a key criterion to independent
living in the rapidly globalising world. In the last couple of years people
with disabilities in India have seen forward looking legislations at the
central government level and the banking industry in their favour.

The Reserve Bank of India through its circulars in June 2008 - ‘Banking
Facilities for the Visually Challenged’ and the circular on 13th April 2009-
‘Need for Bank Branches/ATMs to be made accessible to persons with
disabilities’ has made its commitment to the disable population of India for
financial accessibility.

According the to the Global ATM Market & Forecasts 2013 report published by
Retail Banking Research (RBR), the penetration of ATMs in India is pretty
low compared to other developing countries in Asia.

For instance in 2007 (According to RBR), India had 34765 ATMs with 31 ATMs
per million while China had 13 ATMs with 98 ATMs per million. Similarly,
Singapore had 1906 ATMs with 419 ATMs per million, Philippines had 751

2009-08-12 Thread Parthiban

Dear Govindh,
I was waiting for somebody to answer your query regarding C Cleaner.
Anyway, just enter on C Cleaner and after waiting for a while by pressing
tab, please enter on analyse button and please wait for a while. If you
press shift and tab, there you can find, read only edit button by pressing
space bar or enter you can hear the message which will say the size of the
files to be removed from your system. Now, by pressing tab, go to run clean
up button and hit enter. Now it will clear the items to be cleared.

I hope that this remove only from the C Drive. Of course, C drive is the
main one to be cleared in a system.

With regards.

However, all banks need to ensure that their ATMs are accessible to wheel

[AI] Infra PPPs should be an exception: Finmin

2009-08-12 Thread mukesh jain
hello, since this post discusses some guidelines i am forwarding this mail.

The formation of joint ventures (JVs) between the public and private
sector entities to implement infrastructure projects under the
public-private-partnership
(PPP) model should be an exception rather than the rule, according to
newly formulated guidelines circulated by the finance ministry.

"The public sector entity intending to form a JV with a private sector
entity should carefully explore the possibility of meeting the desired
objective
through alternate means instead of creating a JV," according to the
guidelines for establishing joint venture companies that came into
effect last month.

The guidelines are aimed at curbing the conflict of interest which
arises when the entity granting the concession -- which is usually a
public sector entity
-- is also a partner in the recipient JV. This would mean that in
addition to a concession agreement, which would typically lay out the
entire range of
rights, obligations, duties and support, there would be a
shareholder''s agreement between the JV partners that "may allow the
private sector entity to
do forum shopping by raising disputes under the shareholders''
agreement or under the concession agreement, depending on what is
beneficial to it," according
to the guidelines.

The move is also aimed at curbing the increasing number of 50:50 joint
ventures between the public sector and the private sector where
control is ceded
to the power sector though the funds used belong to the exchequer.
Since such equal partnerships would be defined as private sector
entities (it would
be a public sector entity only if the majority control is with the
public sector), it is not accountable to the government or the public
accounts committee
or the comptroller and auditor general, nor does it have to follow
government procedures for procurement.

The guidelines also limit the positions that government officials can
take on JV companies. "It is normally not advisable for officials to
become chairpersons
or hold other offices in a JV where the shareholding of the private
sector entities is 50 per cent or more," the guidelines say.

The guidelines have been finalised after discussing the issue for more
than a year. These guidelines would apply to all central ministries,
department,
autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings under the control of
the central government. Any deviation from these guidelines would need
to be adequately
explained and justified by the concerned ministries/departments,
making such a deviation that much tougher. State governments will also
be alerted to the
position with regard to such JVs, added the official.

[AI] RBI panel for note checking at ATMs

2009-08-12 Thread mukesh jain
hello, since this topic is of great concern for all of us since many
days and it gives some sort of relief to us by technology i thought to
post this message.

In order to check the menace of fake currency notes, a high-level RBI
committee has suggested a slew of measures, including in-built
currency checking mechanism
at all ATMs and note sorting machines or desktop sorters at all bank
branches, in a phased manner. The committee said the performance
parameters of sorting
machines could be standardised so that they all adhere to a uniform
standard of counterfeit detection.

The RBI deputy governor Usha Thorat-led committee observed that the
current rule, which requires any person who has inadvertently got up
to five fake notes
to compulsorily file an FIR, may be scrapped. A simple report may
be filed with the branch which in turn may include this in the
counterfeit currency
report to RBI,'' the committee said.

The committee suggested that banks may go for periodic audits of
companies to which they outsource ATM management activities. Banks
may switch over
to the ''cassette swap' system to feed the ATMs,'' it said. In a
cassette swap system in ATMs, one or more secured baskets of notes are
replaced while
the other process is to manually stack currencies in ATMs when these
machines go out of notes.

It said RBI could ensure that notes from old series are withdrawn
strictly as per the policy in place.

[AI] Bill allows merger of Indian companies with foreign firms

2009-08-12 Thread mukesh jain
The Companies Act Amendment Bill, which was tabled in Parliament in
the Budget session that adjourned last week, has proposed to allow
Indian companies
to merge with overseas companies, a move that could introduce greater
flexibility in cross-border merger and acquisitions (M&As).

At present Sections 391-394 of the Companies Act, 1956, allow only
foreign companies to merge with Indian ones. The Bill has introduced
Section 205 that
also allows the reverse and stipulates that payment to shareholders of
listed Indian companies being merged can be in the form of cash,
shares or Indian
Depository Receipts (IDRs) issued by the overseas companies.

The amendment was first suggested in 2005 by an expert committee on
company law chaired by Tata Sons Director J J Irani.

If this amendment goes through, it will meet a key demand of many
multinational companies investing in India.

Legal experts said the merger of an Indian company with a foreign one
can help structure M&A deals in many ways. For example, if an overseas
company has
acquired another foreign company that has a subsidiary in India, the
new provision will allow the acquirer to merge the Indian operations
with itself,
instead of retaining it as a separate entity.

Similarly, if the Indian subsidiary is incurring losses, the overseas
company may prefer to merge the Indian subsidiary with itself to gain
maximum tax
benefits by offsetting losses of the subsidiary against its profits.

The provision may also make it easier for promoters of Indian
companies to raise funds abroad by setting up listed entities abroad
and merging their Indian
operations with them.

The proposed amendment in the Companies Act says, "The provisions
shall apply... to schemes of mergers and amalgamations between
companies registered under
this Act and companies incorporated in the jurisdictions of such
countries as may be notified from time to time by the central
government". Not all countries
allow the merger of local companies with foreign entities.

The Irani Committee had also recommended that the amendment follow
international best practices and be made with suitable changes to the
tax and foreign
exchange legislations and IDR provisions.

Hi Aisha

Probably you can go for another round of formatting and reinstalling the
OS.

I’ve tried scanning with different antiviruses like AVG, caspersky,

sounds nice, though i haven't yet tested, but they even states it's
accessible for blind and visually impaired users as well.
what's more, it supports phones other then n 82, which is not a case
in KNFB reader, though some claims it works with 6220 clasic and
others, i'm not sure, as no demo, no news.
i believe, it's worth giving a try, though the request goes to server,
which requires you to have a GPRS or 3g, but if it works well, i'll
never mind taking some suitable plan.
now, importantly, they haven't listed nokia n96 in their list of
supported phones, so chances may be, that it doesn't works with it.
however, at the other hand, nokia n 95 is there in the list, which is
quite similar to n96.
i'll give it a try if it works with my n96, but would like to have
inputs from you guys, specially those who having phones like nokia

Re: [AI] Bill allows merger of Indian companies with foreign firms

2009-08-12 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Dear Moderator and fellow accessIndians,

I am not a person to write on these topics easily.
However, the present mail by the member who posted it, does violate the
fundamental guidelines and the purpose of the group.
It is not the case that member is new, or he posts such off-topic mails once in
a blue moon, which I think can be tolerated.
The practice with him is a regular one and he even appends justifications
sometimes.
The established practice in AI is to forward such mail to moderator for his
approval.
In the present mail, he has even foregone the need to append self-justification.

I can not usurp the claim to represent other members on the group, however, it
is widely felt that some members like the present mail poster, get away only
with reprimands sometimes, however, others are just warned once, that too not
necessarily, and are summarily expelled from the group even without any public
announcement irrespective of controversy about their stand or their willingness
to desist from the mistake etc.
This, I feel is unwarranted.
I can understand that one person may not find time always to moderate such a
large group.
So, as a way of relieving moderator of undue burden, and also to further
democratize the process, we may have panel of, say, five moderators,
distributing among themselves, the moderatorial responsibilities, and decisions
on serious matters like suspension/expulsion being taken unanimously or by
majority.
This I am suggesting, because the group has exceeded in size and I believe has
more than five hundred members.

Rest I leave to wise discretion of moderator and group members.

Subject: [AI] Bill allows merger of Indian companies with foreign firms

Re: [AI] NEWS RELEASE-Accessible ATMs for the disabled

2009-08-12 Thread SC Vashishth
Srinivasu, even the entry door of these ATMs are very small generally around
600-700 mm as against minimum requirement of 900-1000mm. At some places, I
have seen even lesser! A uniform standard size and design for ATM must be
circulated by the RBI to all banks and then strictly implemented.

We at Svayam have worked out on a design for such an accessible ATM which
can be universally accessible to all. With voice enabled features in the
ATMs, the security issues of someone else overhearing the screen readers
also requires some answers. If we put head sets, maintenance and hygiene
would be a problem!

Maintenance and Hygiene is a valid point. I could think of two solution and
not sure, how far they are acceptable though.
1. I guess, there's a strict rule (thought people don't follow all the
time), only one person should enter to the ATM. I think, this should be
strictly ensured by security personnel while a VI person enters for a
transaction. (Hmm... don't forget the fact, at some places we don't find
security folks)
2. Can it be possible to let users carry their own headsets? Is it OK from
security point of view? Bankers out there, please comment...

That's indeed correct. Upgrades are available only for the new SMA. In other
words, one will not be able to avail an upgrade for an upgrade. One can find
this out by right clicking the JAWS icon and then "about". JAWS will
announce whether one is eligible for future upgrades or not.

Not necessarily. If you purchased an SMA, you will get two upgrades of
Jaws

free. Otherwise, you are eligible for an year's upgrades. I might be wrong
in this though.
