Re: [AI] How to read Tamil with E- speak ?

2013-03-23 Thread Adhimoolam Vetrivel Murugan
When you install E-speak, the language field will appear and type TA
TA+M2 and TA-in on the next field. When you hit next, the voice will
be installed. Then change the voice of Sappy 5 to Tamil. Ones you do
that, JAWS will read Tamil web pages/documents. Sometimes JAWS may not
read web page and in this case press insert+V within internet explorer
and then press LAN quickly. Now press space bar to disable "language
detect change.

Re: [AI] Akashwani denied him job, visually challenged man now voice of 91.2 FM

2013-03-23 Thread Rohiet A. Patil

Hi!
I know this man personally. At that time, akashwani pune denied job to him
not because of policy but because of infrastructural issue. Because, all of
us may be aware that at the time of live broadcasting, the anouncer have not
to perform the job of speaking on the microphone, but he has to operate
various machines like record plaier or CD plaier also. He was denied the job
because of such jenuan issue.
Further, it is mentioned in the article that he use 2 headphones so that the
screen reader's voice will not get mix in the broadcasting. I don't
understand how it is possible. Is it possible to get output of jaws and
program from 2 different soundcards?

Block Quote
Satish Navale had been a radio buff and wanted to rule the airwaves.
To realise his dream, after completing graduation in 1995, this
visually challenged man with all programme schedules and other details
on his fingertips confidently approached Akashwani Pune to know about
his prospects of becoming a radio anchor, only to be told that the job
was not meant for a person with a disability like his.

"I was told that as per the policy, they cannot hire a blind person
for that role," recalls Navale. Disappointed, Navale, then 22, wanted
to commit suicide. "I grew up with this dream that shattered
instantly. However, I consoled myself and resolved not to give up," he
says.

Last month, 30-year-old Navale took over as the 'radio in-charge' at
Yaralavani community radio station in Jaliyal, 150 km from Sangli, and
is a known name among the listeners of 91.2 FM. He is probably the
only visually challenged person in the country who not only
coordinates and plans radio programmes but also hosts them.

"Someone had advised me to study further and try making a career in
educational broadcasting," says Navale. So, after doing graduation
from Abasaheb Garware College (Pune), he pursued MA and MEd from the
University of Pune.

N V Deshpande, who founded Yaralavani around two years ago, says until
Navale came for the interview, he was not aware that the job seeker
was visually challenged. However, his knowledge about various radio
channels and the way they work was far superior than anybody Deshpande
knew. "I had the confidence that his disability could be overcome with
technology. Within a month, he proved that my decision of hiring him
was right," says Deshpande, adding that Navale works without any
assistance.

Navale owes this knowledge to his "obsession for radio". Since the age
of four, he says, he would listen to radio for around 16 hours a day.
"I used to keep changing frequency after every 15-20 minutes or so.
The timing and duration of each and every programme was on my
fingertips," he says.

Prior to joining Yaralavani, Navale worked as an educational
researcher at University of Pune from 2008 to 2010. He then dabbled in
making e-learning modules for the visually challenged, which he
provided to various schools.

Talking about the initial challenges, Navale says being visually
impaired he had to work with softwares like Jaws and Tox. "When you
use Jaws, the voice gets mixed with radio broadcasting. I tackled this
by using two headphones," he says. Navale also had to work on the
voice-level filter. On the radio mixer, he has made Braille-like
markings that can be felt with his fingers. "With this, I can
recognise where the voice filter is located on the radio mixer and
accordingly I operate," he says, adding that with this kind of
technological adjustments any visually challenged person can work at
any radio station.

Along with playing Hindi and Marathi songs, the Yaralavani radio
station broadcasts live interactive programmes on social issues and
current events, moral stories, interviews of achievers, programmes on
English speaking and vocabulary, among others. "He is on par with any
normal person and we don't make him feel special or different," says
Deshpande.

Re: [AI] Talking White Board

2013-03-23 Thread kiran

Dear dinesh,

I am not sure If E Speak TTS can be used with Jaws
for reading but as far as the writing on the white board is concerned
there is support for all Unicode fonts and hence writing will not be a
problem. you can seek guidance from experts in JAWS if e speak can read
unicode Punjabi with E Speak.

Yogesh can you please contact me on my
mobile to know more as i will take a days time to upload the same on the
website. you have my contact details i am sure.

Thanks and Regards,

[AI] Talking White Board

2013-03-23 Thread kiran

Dear Ashik,

There are many blind teachers across the country,
most of the times i have heard that there is a discrimination, with us
that we can not use a blackboard, to wrote, i have also heard that
teachers have an assistant. To enable teachers with a little more
independence of using the black board, the Interactive white board is
designed. it does the following,

The device is not a projector. It is
connected to the Computer via a USB cable, One can write, draw (both
free hand and standard shapes) in an editor like say MS Word, what ever
the teacher is drawing or writing the same shall be written on the White
board. this shall enable teachers across any language, teaching any
subject to have writing on the White Board.

For Example if there is a
English teacher writing a scentence where the verb in the same is to be
underlined, one just have to underline the word in the editor and the
same shall be written with underline on the board too. the White board
also has a function where we can erase all or part of the writing that
is on the white board.

Please write to me off list for more
information.

Regards,

Kiran

Dear friends,
I have a request to put before you.
I am 100 percent blind and doing graduation in English literature
under IGNOU. You would be wondering even after taking English as main
subject I still make mistakes. There is a reason for it. Though I am
doing graduation I haven't been able to go to college for a single
contact class. I go there only for exams. So I didn't have anyone to
correct me and to point out my mistakes.
Now my course is just to end. I don't know what to do after this. I am
23 now. My first priority is to find a job. If possible job that can
be done from home. Because I am about 7 feet tall. If I move out
without anyone's help it is very very likely that my head might hit
with wall. I had vision till my 17. To be precise I lost vision on
21/08/2007. It was because of Retinal detachment.
I hope someone will guide me. I don't have anyone to guide me. I am
searching and finding things on my own. Please guide me on
1, whether there is any job that can be done from home
2,if yes what organization offers the preparatory course,
3, tell me about job opportunity in that area also.
Looking forward to hearing at least from any one of you,

[AI] IMAGE VERIFICATION CODE ON IRCTC PORTAL

2013-03-23 Thread bhawani shankar verma
hello accessindia!

as you all know that while booking tickets online on IRCTC user has to type
image verification code, which is not accessible with a screen reading
software. this code must be permanently removed from their website. can we
legally challenge this issue either on the court of CCPD or high court? I had
several communication with IRCTC but they are taking this matter very unwisely.
please don't suggest webvisum solution for the purpose. webvisum is an
additional tool, not a permanent solution. also some of netbanking and credit
card sites does not support firefox interface.
I also request to please don't merge this subject with the high court order for
online booking of tickets.
I request to the legal experts, please draft a letter which we the
accessindians will send to the IRCTC. as they will receive thousands of mail on
their system, this issue will definitely be resolve.

Hello,
Netbooks are not in the market any more.
You may get some 1 or 2 moddels but there performance is not so much
satisfactory.
You can get a decent laptop for rs 22000/-.
I will advice you to go with a laptop because netbooks are not selling
anymore and they are slow at times. Though they are light wait but
laptop is a laptop. No comparison with netbook.

Re: [AI] Fw: Accessible Phone from Persion Technologies for 10500, who

2013-03-23 Thread mukesh jain
hello,
i had never raised any doubts on anyone's efforts. if i were the
person, i couldn't have shown my willingness to go for this product
without seeing any demo or listening for any disscussions. i do
understand the pain taken by the developer and setting the dream to
make the vi person's life more independent. i do also highly respect
the precious time in doing hard work on these hurdles. but sir, if i
consider the vallue of commitment though not taking in any strictest
sense, i think there should have been some kind of efforts to make
this possible. in the given scenario, if i have to sacrifice upon any
configuration, i will not have any comments, as there are always
chance to upgrade in the future and there will be lot many advanced
versions keep coming up in the future for which we jointly have to
keep working on. in my view, purchasing the phone from you does not
end the deal its just the movement of accessibility led by you and
supported by us. so if possible, kindly give the chance of exploring
the phone with the available version although not latest one and i
certainly know that at list earlier versions than 4.2 will surely be
accessible at list not 100% but at list most of it.

it would really be better for me to have the delivery upon the initial
terms of android 4.1. we can work on latest updates if you so offer in
the future as per your convenience.

thanks as always for your instant replies,
mukesh.

Dear Mr Prabhu,

you are an elderly person so please dont say
that. I was merely clearing myself as more that 2000 people read these
mails. We are not new to list and all have our own personal space within
each other, i haven't quoted any thing other that the explanation to
comment " 12000" is not a small amount? i have also followed with a mail
and said i may have over reacted too but we shall definitely stop this
discussion here and continue in the good spirit of the service and my
small contributions.

At the same time i did express that whatever the
reason be i am responsible for delay in shipping owing to upgrades, all
those who were on the Dual core were shipped, they were mostly down
south. anyways all that ends well is always well.

Re: [AI] Fw: Accessible Phone from Persion Technologies for 10500, who

2013-03-23 Thread kiran

dear Srikanth,

there can be a limited demo possible for upload,
as it is really worth experiencing, there is an initial apprehension
about touch phones amongst general users, so the best way is to use it
for the week and then realize. also i am not travelling anywhere for the
phone there are other products and business too. i have recently
launched an interactive White board to be used by teachers. yes indeed
initially people were only aware of dual core with 4.1 now it is mostly
quad core with 4.2 barring 2 orders and hence i had to work for their
satisfaction. but i certainly did not expect such remarks in personal
capacity. My one day visit has neither effected deliveries and work.

however thanks for understanding.

Reagards,

Kiran

2013-03-23 Thread Srikanth Kanuri
Friends, it is a very good phone interns of configuration. A four core
processor with accessible software. We need to wait for having a look
at accessibility features it would be highly wonderful if maker of
this offer could give a demo of this phone on the given websites. Many
were asking for this and we really have no answer as to accessibility.
This would stop the pains that are being undertaken by the developer
to travel different places for giving demo.

[AI] Concerning the Android Phones Discussion

2013-03-23 Thread kiran

Dear Members,

In the light of some recent discussions on list i
am making a few things clear as this creates impressions that are
reflected on me as a person. I am just changing a few configurations of
the android operating system in the phone that we are offering, whatever
benifits i am negotiating on the price i am passing on to the members, i
am providing all updates on the phone as i was happy to provide Android
4.2 and The Quad core Processor model. In the process i did spend 4-5
days extra and am ready to give the updates all this is in the interest
of my friends.

I have informed all the people who have booked this
about the developments and am shipping the devices to various people
since yesterday and today. most of the buyers have expressed it is ok to
have lost 4 days time in upgrading both the software and the hardware.
it is really sad for me to hear few comments that were on the list
today. however i shall finish what i have started.

I am sorry if I
have over reacted on the subject.

Regards,

Kiran

Yes, you can use any bank cards. On-Us card that is your own bank card as
well as Off-Us card that is any other bank card. Card service providers
can be any VISA, MASTER or Rupay.

impression here. you have only paid 1000 Rs and mukesh jain transfered
his share of 5000 Rs. so please do not pass wrong messages. tell me if i
am wrong. please quote me wrong.

Secondly i want to tell that i have
posted the phone initially with android 4.1, and i have taken efforts to
upgrade it to Android 4.2 already, i am working so hard and this is what
i get in return? All the users i have upgraded to Quad core processors
from my side as the users should get benefit, yes it indeed caused three
days of delay but i am providing with a better option for the users
interest am i wrong there too?

How will some of us feel if we have two
different product configurations with two different Android versions?

Kiran

Re: [AI] information required for neft interbanking transfer in s b i required.

2013-03-23 Thread mukesh jain
hello,
since few days, i am facing strange issue with state bank of india net
banking. after performing any online transaction, we are getting the
sms in the form of our transaction id, high security password to
confirm the transaction, available balance after successful
transaction etc. these messages use to come only at that time i.e.
only one single sms for each such transactions. but since few days,
after making such transactions, these messages do come on my mobile
multiple counts i.e. keep coming for a day over the interval of few
hours. this really annoys me lot and also the great concern of
security as all the time mobile can't be in my hand only. i have tried
contacting customer care of my network provider but they say that
these sms are delivered by your bank only and we have no role in it.
if you give your request to disable such sms to us, we can only
disable your sms service permanently and doing so you will no longer
get any sms even personal messages sent by anyone. i tried notifying
this issue to my bank and to my surprise, their reply was very
strange. according to their advise, let these messages keep coming,
simply delete them if you feel unnecessary.

so i would like to know that has anyone facing similar problem? if so,
what is the solution for it.

looking forward for your reply.
thanks,
mukesh.

As you told that Mr. Kiran is on the South India tour then in that
case we've to take back the amount as everybody is aware of the fact
that Rs. 12000 is not a small amount. I think we should start thinking
seriously regarding the same. I don't know till what time you'll wait.

[AI] guide me

2013-03-23 Thread ratheesh kottakkal
Looking forward to hearing at least from any one of you,
lovingly

Here at JNU, One SBI's Talking AtM is installed, but when we induct
the pin, and Message starts coming 'Wellcome to SBI' and so on.
then it doesn't read all options like it shows without inducting Pin.
Isn't it a drawback of these ATM Machines?
 How has been your experience.

Re: [AI] quiry regarding persion technologies mobile accessibility

I will be more conservative and will consider it a spam until I hear from
someone who bought it. The number 18002332666 is not reachable no matter
when I call it. There's something going on which looks very, very suspicious

Yes, totally agree with Kanchan mam. Usually, its the initial movement
that is difficult. Once something reaches a certain stage gaining
awareness and popularity, further progress would be relatively easy.
One very good thing the banks are doing is that every step in this
direction is reported in the press.

Re: [AI] Need clearification regarding Talking ATM.

2013-03-23 Thread Kanchan Pamnani

I am informed that there are now approx 2600 talking ATMs
We are now working towards impplementation of the RBI circular which stated
that one-third ATMs must be talking ATMs.
The pessimists will say that we havent reached one third in 4 years and we
dont have all services. The optimists will say that 2600 is a good number
and more will soon be there. Also the 3 services provided are the most
important services and most of these machines are bi-lingual.

I can just say that we are on our way and a lot of hard work has gone into
reaching this point.

You can use any bank ATM card and do the above three ATM transactions very
independently.

Sir, you may be aware that banking accessibility in case of accessible
ATMs

was persuaded since 2010 and since June 2012 we can see its real fruits.
In the last 9 months period we have now more than 2000 plus such talking
ATMs which allow a blind person to do independent cash withdrawal with
privacy and security.

If you look at banking needs one of most most important need for us is to
have a facility from where one can get hard cash any time. To get cash
today, you have only two options either visit branch or ATM. So currently
talking ATMs have fulfilled this most crucial need of getting cash any
time. For other options like fund transfer, mobile recharge, IMPS, etc.
you have other alternate banking channels available like net banking,
mobile banking, SMS banking, phone banking, etc.

Sir, this is a beginning and in future we can work on to enable all other
ATM value added options made talking. Let’s hope all banks will soon
start

deploying talking ATMs so that we will have talking ATM available at our
nearest location to withdraw cash.

I think u want light machine and which could have more backup. If u do
not want to go for net book because of various constraints, I would
suggest u to go with 12, or 13.3 inches laptop with 9 cell battery,
it will give u more back up. for this u can check HP probook and IBM
thinkpad. In IBM thinkpad u can find 12 inches laptop with 9 cell
battery but the cost will be little higher.
