[AI] About my book "Lights Out" published by Random House India

2014-01-06 Thread Subramani L
Dear folks:

I am happy to announce that my book “Lights Out”, a blow by blow
account of how it felt like to be gradually losing vision, is being
published by Random House India. Through “Lights Out” I want people
beyond the medical and VI community to speak about R.P. and other
retinal conditions and question practices such as marriages of
consanguinity that is so prevalent in south India and leads to R.P.
and other retinal conditions. I am also happy to note that I am going
the route taken by others in this group, notably Ms. Preeti Monga and
a few other of our visually challenged friends who took to writing to
create awareness.

I have written to Harish to see if I can share the experience of
writing the book with our Access Indian friends at the February
convention. In fact, I would like to convert that into a creative
writing workshop of two or three hours duration in which I would like
to deal with writing as a medium of expression. I would like to see
more writers out of this group making an impact on the way blindness
and blind people are perceived in the outside world. I would like to
know if there is interest for a session on writing. Please keep Harish
posted about it. In the mean time, please spread the word about the
book.

If some of you are wondering about e-edition or audio, I have spoken
to Random House India, the publishers of the book, to consider other
formats. Possibly, there would be an epop edition for Kindle users. I
shall keep you all updated as and when the publisher decides on other
formats.

Thanks for all your support and good wishes over the years,
particularly the senior members who have offered plenty of encouraging
words.

Warm regards,

Subramani

Hi Subramani,

Many congratulations on finishing the book. I would be very interested in
reading if and when it is available on Kindle or any other electronic
format. It is not easy to write down one's experiences and so I commend you
for making the effort.

Subject: [AI] About my book "Lights Out" published by Random House India

Dear folks:

I am happy to announce that my book "Lights Out", a blow by blow account of
how it felt like to be gradually losing vision, is being published by Random
House India. Through "Lights Out" I want people beyond the medical and VI
community to speak about R.P. and other retinal conditions and question
practices such as marriages of consanguinity that is so prevalent in south
India and leads to R.P.
and other retinal conditions. I am also happy to note that I am going the
route taken by others in this group, notably Ms. Preeti Monga and a few
other of our visually challenged friends who took to writing to create
awareness.

I have written to Harish to see if I can share the experience of writing the
book with our Access Indian friends at the February convention. In fact, I
would like to convert that into a creative writing workshop of two or three
hours duration in which I would like to deal with writing as a medium of
expression. I would like to see more writers out of this group making an
impact on the way blindness and blind people are perceived in the outside
world. I would like to know if there is interest for a session on writing.
Please keep Harish posted about it. In the mean time, please spread the word
about the book.

If some of you are wondering about e-edition or audio, I have spoken to
Random House India, the publishers of the book, to consider other formats.
Possibly, there would be an epop edition for Kindle users. I shall keep you
all updated as and when the publisher decides on other formats.

Thanks for all your support and good wishes over the years, particularly the
senior members who have offered plenty of encouraging words.

Warm regards,

Subramani

[AI] Meet plays matchmaker for people with disabilities

2014-01-06 Thread Prashant Naik
Dear List, Sharing an excellent and great initiative by Voice Vision and
Sushmeetha Bubna successively third time. Below is a coverage article from
Times of India print media of the yesterday's awesome event. - Prashant
Naik

Meet plays matchmaker for people with disabilities

Times of India, Jan 6, 2014.

MUMBAI: Chirag and Mansi Kothari have been married for 10 years now with
two children. The couple, both suffering from hearing impairment and speech
disability, have ensured their disability does not come in their way of a
happy married life and raising children. The couple came to motivate others
like them at a matrimonial meet organized by the Rotary Club of Mumbai West
Coast and the NGO Voice Vision in Malad on Sunday.

Around 55 individuals with disabilities gathered to find their life
partners. To motivate them were three such couples who shared their
experiences. Even as nobody finalized partners, many said they liked more
than one individual, said Sushmeetha Bubna, founder-director of the NGO.

Parents of Ghatkopar's Bhavik Jobanputra, who suffers a minor limp due to
polio, claimed they liked a girl with a similar problem. "We will have to
see if it works out as she is a north Indian," said his father. The
Dandekars from Bhandup who came looking for a bride for their son, Tanmay,
suffering from a minor mental illness and is a slow learner, claimed the
organization should have had wider publicity to ensure more people
registered.

The president of the Rotary Club West Coast, Vikas Upadhyay, claimed that
people from as far as Gujarat, Delhi and Tirupati had come to find matches.
Differently-abled couples Dinesh and Monica Saraiya and doctors Priti and
Ghanshyam Sharma, were also present.

Hi Mohib, Just enter twice or thrice instead of once and the auto
numbering will stop. Remember that you have to repeat it every time
you give a fresh number.

Hope it helps.

2014-01-06 Thread akhilesh
Hi Vishal,
which city are you located in?
As interview happens in many stages and its none of your fault, you
can give it a chance.
As per my views, your candidature cannot be rejected merely on the
bases of some petty technical issue of such kind.

If you want, you can contact me off list if you are really serious to
take this matter up. I will try my level best to arrange the lawyer in
your city itself after talking to you.

Subject: [AI] About my book "Lights Out" published by Random House India

Dear folks:

I am happy to announce that my book "Lights Out", a blow by blow account
of
how it felt like to be gradually losing vision, is being published by
Random

House India. Through "Lights Out" I want people beyond the medical and VI
community to speak about R.P. and other retinal conditions and question
practices such as marriages of consanguinity that is so prevalent in south
India and leads to R.P.
and other retinal conditions. I am also happy to note that I am going the
route taken by others in this group, notably Ms. Preeti Monga and a few
other of our visually challenged friends who took to writing to create
awareness.

I have written to Harish to see if I can share the experience of writing
the

book with our Access Indian friends at the February convention. In fact, I
would like to convert that into a creative writing workshop of two or
three

hours duration in which I would like to deal with writing as a medium of
expression. I would like to see more writers out of this group making an
impact on the way blindness and blind people are perceived in the outside
world. I would like to know if there is interest for a session on writing.
Please keep Harish posted about it. In the mean time, please spread the
word

about the book.

If some of you are wondering about e-edition or audio, I have spoken to
Random House India, the publishers of the book, to consider other formats.
Possibly, there would be an epop edition for Kindle users. I shall keep
you

all updated as and when the publisher decides on other formats.

Thanks for all your support and good wishes over the years, particularly
the

senior members who have offered plenty of encouraging words.

Warm regards,

Subramani

If you are someone who need personal help to cope with blindness, a little
friendly chat about things that bother you or just an ear to listen to
your

fears and frustrations, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I've been
through that and I can help. Just leave your questions and if you don't
want

to give your name, that's fine.

Are you an HR exec, a volunteer, a friend/relative of someone going
through

blindness or do you want to understand disability because it's part of
something that you are working on?... Pl get in touch for volunteer help.

2014-01-06 Thread Shireen Irani
hi,

basically after pressing enter 2 3 times, u need to come back to the
end of your last sentence with your arrow keys, and then with the
right arrow key, u can go to the beginning of the next line and start
typing. so the enter does continue the numbering, the trick is to use
your arrow keys and navigate to the beginning of a new line, when u
dont want the numbers to apere.
hope i'm understood.

Re: [AI] how to copy table from MS word to e-mail message box

2014-01-06 Thread Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala
You need to ensure that the message format is either HTML or RTF (Rich Text
Format), possible that the table format is disrupted when pasted in an email
with Plain Text Format. I'm using Ms Outlook 2013 which prompts me to switch
to HTML format when attempting to paste a table in a Plain Text email. As
our list supports only Plain Text Format, the below test table may not
appear correctly to list recipients, so marking you a copy for reference.

Re: [AI] how to copy table from MS word to e-mail message box

2014-01-06 Thread Him Prasad Gautam
hi,
There is one easy option but it will not be in table. This method will
just retain the texts in the tabular form separated by tabs. For this
do the following:
1. Copy the table from MS word.
2. Paste it in notepad application. Use notepad plus plus.
3. The text of the table will retain tabular position. Column will
take tab separated form.
4. Copy the tabular text from notepad and paste it in email message box.
5. The text will be in tabular structure without row and column lines.

Re: [AI] how to copy table from MS word to e-mail message box

2014-01-06 Thread Amiyo Biswas

Hello Mohib,

Keep your cursor inside the table and follow these steps:
Press alt+a for Table menu,
c for Select submenu,
and then t for the table.

Pause for a second and let windows select the table. Now press ctrl+c for
copy,

and press ctrl+v to paste the table on to the email message.

You can check the table format using jaws cursor or when you have sent it,
you can check the html feature of the table inside your sent items folder.

As regards auto numbering in ms word 2003, or 2007, once you put in a
number, such as 1, 2, 3... or a, b, c ... etc., word automatically starts
numbering. Suppose you have put in 4 numbered items accepting the word
feature of auto numbering. When you press the enter key again, word will put
the number 5. But since you don't want to type in the fifth item, simply
press the enter key once more and the numbering for the fifth line will be
gone.

On the other hand, if you want to convert the numbered lines into normal
text, press ctrl+shift+n to apply normal formatting.

I am not sure if I have explained correctly.

With best Regards,
Amiyo Biswas

Hi Zujar, how to convert e-mail message box to html format? I want to
send one table to one of my friend. However the table which you pasted
above is in exact tabular form having appropriate columns and rows.
How did u do that?

On 1/7/14, Him Prasad Gautam wrote:

hi,
There is one easy option but it will not be in table.

[AI] special casual for disability programmes

2014-01-06 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Friends
We know that government including banks have put in place provisions for SCL of
ten days in a year to be granted to Employees with disabilities for disability
related programmes.
Such leave is to be granted for programmes conducted by central and state
agencies notified by ministry of social justice and empowerment.
I remember having read the said notification as well.
However, I cannot seem to locate the said notification by MSJE at present.
Would anyone please help me out by providing or pointing to the same, please?

With thanks and regards

(Rajesh Asudani)
Assistant General Manager
