2022-03-23 Thread Ajay Minocha
Hi Apurva,

IT/ software is actually one field where persons with vision
impairment can perform really well as it is based on computers and
doesn't involve much paperwork.
We have countless developers with vision impairment who are employed
with various companies in India as well as abroad.
He can start learning and using assistive technology i.e.
magnification/ screen reading software which can help him perform his
job with ease.

Thanks,
Ajay

Re: [AI] KYC for banking facilities for the blind

2022-03-23 Thread Bharat
So that much discussed KYC happened for me today at home & it took
less than 3 minutes for the person to complete it for me. Subsequently
I informed the concerned that it was done for me & the assured to
inform of it to their concerned teams. Now I am awaiting their
response to see what's next. Would surely let the group know what
follows through.

Thank you,

Yes it is, provided you use the right type of assistive technology
(magnifier/ screen reading software) depending on your eye condition.
There some group members as well who have been successfully working in
this field using assistive technology.
You can reach me off the list at 9584076767, can help you get in touch

Think they authenticate your ID, PAN and Aadhar, and match it with the
person. You have to show them the documents in a way wherein they can
click a photograph of the document. They would also need to click you.
This is what I was told by both Standard Chartered and American
Express. So its not really about the signature, as the application is
anyways taken online. So, ICICI shouldn't create much fuss really. You
should surely not let it go, fight it out, they do have processes to
get cards issued to blind person, just that most people dealing with
it aren't aware of the same.

Yep, I can confirm Ajay's words with my own example. To be honest, software
development in practice isn't that challenging as it seems from outside,
only you need to get the grip of the thing, which takes some time in every
field.
If he has good logic and learning ability then software development won't
be much of a challenge for him.

Companies assess skills and not the physical condition. Whichever workplace
you'll go you will find some people who over-assume your physical
challenges over your capabilities, there will be some others who are
willing to see your skills and how to get them to work.

Its just about meeting with the second kind of person in whichever company
you go.

Yep, I can confirm Ajay's words with my own example. To be honest,
software development in practice isn't that challenging as it seems from
outside, only you need to get the grip of the thing, which takes some time
 in every field.
If he has good logic and learning ability then software development
won't be much of a challenge for him.

Hello,
There are some leading MNCs in software field recruit Visually
Impaired and other PWD candidates TCS was my first company and
Accenture is my current company. Yes candidate should mentioned his
disability clearly in resume for reasonable accomodation during all
the stages of recruitment. in my case cloud computing was a part of my
career level training package. I have no idea how can he apply from
outside but there are leading institutes provide online training. Last
Sunday I had received email notification from a typical advantage
where there was a vacancy for accessibility tester was mentioned. some
time back WIPRO was looking for more than 100 P?WD candidates for
various roles including functionality testing, Accessibility testing
and many other roles.

[AI] sim card fraud Alert

2022-03-23 Thread Minar Singh
Hi friend,
I'm writing this email to share My experience reguarding sim card
fraud. from Previous night I was getting 6 digits codes on My Jio
mobile number that I shouldn't share my 6 digits code with anyone
eccept jio staff. spammer was pretending to be working in Jio
customer care service. I didn't reply to that message. today Someone
came to my home and said I had applied for Jio sim card showing my ID
proof where address was written all details were correct but I could
manage to escape from trap and reported to the nearest police station.
investigation is an underway. Let me tell you that I haven't been to
any place since February 2020 due to lockdown. I do not share my
confidential documents/data with anyone. I have my own printer and
scanner so no need to use cyber caffay. if you feel someone has tried
to register mobile number on your name then you should not ignore.
It's a serious crime.

Re: [AI] Career options for RP

2022-03-23 Thread Vaibhav Saraf
Hi Apurwa,

Around a year ago we indulged in a big discussion on a Zoom call on whether
to specify the disability on the resume or not. Before coming to any
conclusion you have to be mindful that a vast majority of sighted audience
do not recognize low vision as a thing, it is 1 or 0, visual or blind. Most
of the folks won't care as long as you have a functional enough vision.

Here are some key points coming out from that day's discussion:
-Disability should not be the highlight of a resume, it is not one's
skillset.
-A majority of people agreed that it should be a part of the resume,
somewhere.
-It can even go indirectly, like under certifications, "Completed O&M
training certificate for the blind".

Coming to cloud computing - there are many aspects of it, as it is just a
computer on another server, right from the configuration to the database
handling to the program development, everything can be encompassed under
what is called as cloud computing today.

Pure cloud computing terms requires more of configuration and requires
scripting, there are different options available for this purpose depending
on the cloud provider and the type of solution. Overall, cloud computing is
quite different than Java (unless you're programming Java on a cloud
instance) but is easy to learn. There should be enough resources online.

Thanks,
Vaibhav

2022-03-23 Thread Minar Singh
Hi,
Thanks for your prompt response. is there any way to track how many
sim cards are registered on my name and from which location? I need to
find out quickly before dammage is done? actually I leave with less
educated people if i would be in office then desiter might be
unavoidable . I'm concern about people living with me. few men came to
my home and they were asking me about my Jio current number which i'm
using for last 5 years. On 3/23/22, ishan sangi

Re: [AI] Career options for RP

2022-03-23 Thread Ritesh Agarwal
Hi Apurwa and all group members!

In reference to the question if one should mention his/her disability in
his/her resume or not?

Being an MBA from IIM Calcutta, my answer is a big No to this question.
Some reasons are mentioned below:

> To get selected for a job interview one's resume should reach the
relevant table. Mentioning disability in the resume will reduce the
prospective interview call as companies are generally risk averse and
companies that do not have any PWD employee shall not consider the resume
at all.
> Mentioning disability in the resume shall reduce job and career
opportunities as not all companies have specific/reserved jobs for PWDs.
> Mentioning disability in resume can create bias in the mind of
interviewer and the whole interview can revolve on this aspect rather than
the skills and the knowledge of the candidate.

My opinion is that until companies do not specifically ask for the
disability status (through forms etc.), one should not reveal his/her
disability status till interview stage. .

Further in an interview, one should disclose his disability towards the end
after he/she has demonstrate his knowledge about the job unless the
interviewer ask about it earlier.

Further, unless the candidate feels that he will require some accomodation
to perform his job or he will not be able to perform some task either
partially or completely (in my case, international travel and working on
PPT), he/she should not disclose his disability status at all. For
instance, if a person is blind from one eye and have full vision in the
other eye, why he should disclose his disability as he will be able to
perform all his job requirements without any accomodation like a non-PWD
candidate.

Would like to hear views from other group members as well.

Kind regards
Ritesh Agarwal

duplicate sim like E-sim in secondary device. But to activate e-Sim in
another device with out depriving you from using your original number
in your mobile, they need to install some sort of software in your
mobile.
If they would activate E sim in other mobile, you would loos your
original number and they will be getting easily caught on your
complaint. Therefore be careful and don't share any detail or dont
hand over your mobile to them for any kind of file instullation.
