Re: [AI] Singnature required for banking facilities?

2023-12-10 Thread Prashant Naik
Dear Vaibhav,

Regarding your SBI branch experience, I found information in SBI Internal
Circular NBG/PBU/LIMA-SB/22/2023 – 24 dated Tue 3 Oct 2023, compiling
relevant circulars on "SBI Banking Facilities to Visually Challenged."
Despite being for internal circulation, awareness can resolve issues like
yours. Page 3, Point 2 highlights the available facilities. While awareness
and implementation pose challenges, advocating for your rights by citing
this circular could address the problem.

In this thread someone has quoted rules regarding literate and illiterate
blind persons using thumb impression. They are also from the above cited
SBI master circular but not from RBI master circular.

Check the webpage https://talkingatmindia.org/Resources.aspx for
bank-specific information on services for customers with disabilities, a
valuable resource by XRCVC, Mumbai.

Thanks & Regards
Prashant Naik

Re: [AI] Query regarding Braille ATM Card of Union Bank of India

2023-11-07 Thread Prashant Naik
Dear friends

Features of Union Sparsh card:

• The Union Sparsh debit card is identified by the raised
letter “U” embossed in Braille. The U stands for “Union Bank of India”. The
Braille marking on the card makes it easy to recognize the card and
differentiate it from other banks cards. It also helps to know the face of
the card.

• A rounded notch to the opposite edge of the chip is another
key tactile feature added in the card design. This serves as a guide for
the direction in which to insert the card and to recognize that this is a
Debit Card type for the blind card users to use the card in the right
direction at ATMs and payment terminals.

• Card also has a UV printing effect with raised texture for
the large size of the bank logo and contactless symbol just next to card
chip on the face of the card.

• This RuPay EMV Platinum card variant has other key features
such as contactless, international card, rewards points, insurance cover
and lounge access.

• Union Bank of India has designed accessible card that is easy
to use and visually appealing for low vision persons as well. This includes
features such as clear card holder name, bold fonts, and bright colors to
make the card easy to read and use.

• One of the first significant step by the bank is accessible
content in for form of Braille literature is part of Sparsh debit card
welcome dispatch kit every Sparsh card holder receives.

Please read more about Accessible banking options and the Sparsh card by
Union Bank of India -

Re: [AI] YOUTUBE link of Badalta Daur: Banking Accessibility Guidelines Decoded

2024-03-07 Thread Prashant Naik
Dear List,

The discussion in Radio Udan’s Badalta Daur program was highly informative,
shedding light on the Department of Financial Services' "Accessibility
Standards and Guidelines for the Banking Sector," released on February 2,
2024. Eminent speakers Amar Jain, Rahul Gambhir, and George Abraham
provided insights into the merits and demerits of the standards, offering
their views on the reality of banking access for customers with
disabilities. This is undoubtedly an important development.

Key points from the "Accessibility Standards and Guidelines for the Banking
Sector" by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance,
include:

·Accessibility standards for physical infrastructure.

·Accessibility to branch premises.

·Self-service machines/kiosks with voice guidance features.

·Accessibility compliance standard as per BIS Indian Accessibility
standard IS 17802 for ICT.

·Accessible communication for persons with hearing impairment.

·Accessible digital documents - e-circulars, user manuals,
e-statements in accessible PDF, etc.

·Disability awareness training for bank staff.

·Mandatory online training as part of the induction process.

·Board-approved policies on accessibility.

·Nodal officer in every branch for customers with disabilities.

·Senior-level nodal officer at the head office level.

·One member of the customer service committee is a person with a
disability.

·At least one person with a disability on the advisory committee to
recommend inclusive banking services.

·CBS to flag customers with disabilities for special facilities
such as doorstep banking, etc.

·Periodical review of services for customers with disabilities.

·Addition of a section in the annual report on services for
customers with disabilities.

·The Reserve Bank of India will issue guidelines to ensure the
accessibility of banking services to persons with disabilities.

Re: [AI] Usage of NIC emails for communication by Central Government employees

2024-02-22 Thread Prashant Naik
Hi Sanjay

I understand the challenge with the 30 second time gap in code changes with
screen reader gesture navigation in reading the code. Yes it needs to be
increased to 60 seconds.

Here I wish to share an accessibility solution with you that at Union Bank
of India we have developed in the case of such a code generation app.

Union Bank of India has a mobile app U-Token as an alternative to OTP
received through SMS. Customer can generate a token number through U-Token
App and use that token number to authorize the internet banking transaction
instead of SMS OTP. The code changes every 60 seconds.

As part of accessibility program Union Access, we have enhanced key
accessibility features in the U-Token App making it fully navigable and
operable with screen reader on both android and IOS platforms.

The significant feature we introduced is that after logging the code
generated is informed to screen reader user without navigating and focusing
on the code in the app. The changed code after 60 seconds is also informed
to the screen reader user automatically when focus is on the code generated
page. The time remaining i.e. 60 second counter is also informed properly
with added narration for screen reader users. So the navigation with
gesture is avoided for U token app for the hands free operation on PC /
laptop,

Such innovative accessibility enhancements may be added to the Kavach app.
Feel free to connect to know more about.

Thanks and regards,
