Sometimes I ask for pages and the result sent said I think the error number is 505 but it means internal server error, which server's error is it, is it the website from which page requested? OCR CONVERTION VIA ACCMAIL?
Hi again Not sure if this has ever been discussed or considered as accmail but I heard there are services one can forward .tif image attachments to so they can be converted with optical character recocnition and return to one as text or maybe Word with varing results, any clues where to start? Hi I tried retrieving a PDF document with wwwrm...@szs.net and it almost worked. The problem was that I think it came in a version of Adobe newer than 6.0 as it was in strange characters and I am not sure how to convert back to 6.0. Am still using 6.0 because the version of my screen reading software I currently use is not compatible with newer versions of Adobe and it is expensive to update the screen reader software which works with newer versions among other improvements. PLUS AND STRING
Hi Just to clarify, I found the plus sign on my keyboard, I am in South Afriica English speaking. It is shift together with equals as I thought. The one below the enter kay on the numad does not work either with numlock on or off. What I mean by string I think, isn't a string when you search for more than one word? I suppose it is also a phrase. I had success and the problem was I used the wroong terms from the www4mail help file so I got other things but now I can just say, using webpage grabber, search followed by word plus another word using plus each time and no spaces. Hi Szs I think I had success using www4mail to search Google. The help file I was referring to to use the plus sign is the help google message your [EMAIL PROTECTED] sent me after I requested it. What string? A string of more than two words used when requesting in a phrase but I think I got it using plus which I pasted from the message. I use English and am in South Africa. PDF CORRUPTED
Hi It seems all PDF files that [EMAIL PROTECTED] are seen by Adobe as corrupted and not correctly sent because they are sent as email attachments so I am not sure if it woudl be worth copying as I was advised, not sure if it depends on the way the file looks on the actual website or what but it never used to do this, apologies for not specifying any site but I've tried on three occasions now and they are different sites with the same result. Hi I had [EMAIL PROTECTED] put into my always allow in list on the junk mail filter and it responds to requests for web pages but does not give the links in numbers like www4mail and webpage grabber does and it also sends an index.htm attachment wanting to connect to Explorer. I am actually wondering whether the attachments are in order as per the numbers you gave because when the editor himself sent me some copies of the paper attachment 1 of 8 was not necessarily page one but I will ask them, say could letters be attachment 006 for example as it would make it much easier for me but then I suppose it differs from week to week. USING PDF NEWSPAPERS WITH ACCMAIL
Hi listers I use an ISP and therefore a POP3 but still depend on ACCMAIL. So I was wondering how one can suggest to newspapers which can be downloaded in PDF how to make them more accessible with [EMAIL PROTECTED] As I am still on dial up I do not really download but I will probably still use accmail even if I get Iburst. Not sure if any South African subscribers are aware of Iburst or how much of this technology was developed here. Basically Iburst uses a modem and now a phone that you install and connect and works via satellite signals so one would have to live near enough to a station or tower to get signal and is cheaper than other systems and ADSL and is wireless, no landline or even cellular necessary. So you can also be online all the time. I did not realise that I accidentally gave an incorrect URL for Iburst so apologies to the moderator who asked me to resend my message but I deleted the original one. Hi listers, Have the staff at [EMAIL PROTECTED] thought of setting up page tracking like watchthatpage.com and trackengine.com have? Why? My experience with www4mail, whether SZS.net or any other of the former www4mail services has been a success rate of 99% as has been the case with webpage at rumkin.com and [EMAIL PROTECTED] Grabpage had 100%. [EMAIL PROTECTED] too little. Webpage at rumkin.com sometimes does not respond to searches and google at capeclear.com is about 98% so my service provider does not reject such messages. It just seems that with some pages I request it takes a few sends to get them as nothing happens. Hello fellow accmailers Usually the servers are very good at retrieving webpages or even giving the occasional failure notice. DIFFICULTY WITH PDF
Hi I know the providers of the [EMAIL PROTECTED] and others are not responsible for the way documents are sent or the content but I am wondering of you might still be able to provide me with an answer. What format does [EMAIL PROTECTED] retrieve PDF in? I got some, about eight attachments but I can't read them, can't even copy them to the clipboard. I am visually impaired so can't see the problem, I use Window-Eyes 4.5, does the format depend on the type of PDF document?It returned the request in four parts and the subject indicated was requested URL getpdf://www.iab.org.il/PNLV3.pdf and not http:// although I am sure I asked for http://www as I copied and pasted the URL from a document I got via webpage grabber. RECEIVING MIME FROM WWW4MAIL
Hi again I'm glad www4mail from Italy works now. For a time some years ago whenever it responded it said the message was in plain text but yet it had MIME or HTML code or whatever you call those funny things imbedded in the text which made it hard. I also notice that on some topica.com lists messages often come as multi-part in MIME format in the digest, whereby the first message is in plain text but then it is repeated in the same message as the next part but with those fond or ref or whatever those things are. How can one get rid of this? However, I stopped using this system because it either sends pages with a mixture of plain text and html code or once html and the next time text. Hi I am retrieving more information from the various services that interest me but I'll start with a few questions. What will happen on 3 September as it says the FAQ document expires? I managed to get the documents at work and most at home except http://www.expita.com/howto1.html which I hope grabpage wil still send. The note on the document expiring is on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] 1. Regarding the King James Bible search, is there also a similar way to search the holy books of other religions? This could work by E-mail if, say, you also want to look up, say, something about a religion that is not necessarily Biblical say something under Jewish because if you can be directed to an engine dealing specifically with this religion, you may get better results. 2. Is t-mail also able to translate web pages. Say, if I get a page with grabpage.org, can I send the text to t-mail to translate into English as opposed to a message to somebody? Can it do Hebrew to English and English to Hebrew? Is there a system that can both track pages when they change and translate the tracked pages into English and then send the English? 3. Can one search the Britannica or any other encyclopedia for information on events or people's names or famous people in a way similar to the dictionary described in the FAQ? What about sites like babynames.com? Grabpage told me how to do behindthename but I am not sure how to do babynames.com 4. How do you do what I call third party conversion with the PDF convertion service? It says if the document is on the hard drive it should be sent as a mime attachment but if it is an E-mail, how do I sent it? Should I just forward it as is or save it to the C-drive and then re-attach it? How do I know whether it should be done to html or text or doesn't it matter? Is it possible to make a message rule to automatically forward PDF from the sender to these services each time they arrive in my inbox? 5. I understand there is a text to html convertion service but what about the reverse as I often find html a problem? 6. Where can I find out about the E-mail to snail mail services in different countries? I found one for Armenia and Iran but the one for the U.K. mentioned in the FAQ document seems to be no longer in existence.
