[sw-issues] [Issue 5004] Printing Size wrong (A4-L etter)

On the other hand, I'm also aware that much of the time, a 5% size change won't affect users in the slightest. It's not something that should be done silently, though, I agree. My real issue with all this is that it shouldn't be OO.o's problem. Really, the *printer* needs to be given the option of policy settings on this, such as crop and print, scale and print, prompt, reject job, etc. This issue will crop up most in OO.o though, due to how common the misconfiguration of Word is. As such, maybe it's worth considering - as an RFE - a few options in prefs for printing Letter (or A4, in Letter locales). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Catching a ModelInfeasible exception was supposed to be fixed with that snapshot, but it must've slipped. It's fixed now. The scenario you've attached did indeed fail. Luckily I've pin-pointed the problem during my test and fixed it. (It was due to the lambda calculation routine incorrectly disallowing a zero value.) (I forgot som others pretty features) I propose that we : - use the actual script I have commited (fondu part is commented inside) for 2.0RC - create a new issue for fondu feature, with 2.0.1 target For me #i42998# is fixed : we have code to provide a built-in launcher, and this one works fine. I'm thinking about a real native launcher that does not use applescript anymore, so it could be compiled as any other module, hopefully. but for 2.0 I see no solution except using VNC. regards stephan - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To build remotely, you need to have the fast user switch enabled on the remote machine. IMHO this is not really a problem : you certainly can reach you machine one time (or someone with login and admin rights ) to enable this. Using VNC works too, but I cannot believe none has physical access to this machine. IMHO, this is not an issue ericb-ssa : Imagine an user installs a new font after OpenOffice.org2.0 installation. How can this font be available in OpenOffice.org2.0 ? We certainly will meet this case... We will surely find users like me out there with fondu installed via these packagemanagement systems (in my case Darwinports) and only because fink maybe the widest spread packagemangement system and you yourself use it we include it? Or because of OOo available via fink? Should be only a matter of time to get OOo into Darwinports too. Or what's the reason for only including fink and excluding the other packagemanagement systems? And may I remember you that you yourself used pkgsrc not that long time ago? Would you have insisted to use pkgsrc fondu? Don't get me wrong but if we now take care of every possibility we have a 2.0 ready by the time when all other plattforms have a 2.0.1 or 2.5 or something out. So please don't show up here as the hero of Mac OS X OOo port. maveric-ericb: You're right we will get this case and we have to think about it. In conclusion and as a possible compromise we for now support fondu only for /usr/local/bin and perhaps fink and for 2.0.1 we think about a really good solution on the fondu problem and the arising problems on how to later add a font to OOo using fondu or whatever other method there is. May be that there is a printer driver problem or something else, but I cant see any general problem. If you can provide a step by step instruction lookin like following, we might continue to check this, but for this existing document, I do not see any chance to get this NEW Step by step instruction (example) 1. open new WRITER document (standard format A4 portrait 2. Write text this is an example with testsize 120 3. Print expected: portrait, text in 2 lines actual: as expected 4. change page setting to landscape 5. print again expected: landscape, text in 1 line parallel to loger page border actual: portrait. text 1 line parallel to shorter page border. I understand how to change a page number on a field. In fact, that is what I did to change the page numbers in my manual. Table of contents page numbers uses actual page count, not the page number printed on the page where the referenced material is located. When there is a cover page followed by a blank page, (two sided page printing) the page number for a chapter in the table of contents is two pages higher than the page number printed on the page where the chapter begins. The pages in the index table are also off by the same number of pages. Result is the page numbers in table of contents or index table do not match the printed page number of where a chapter begins. Table of contents and index table pages should always match the page number of the page where the referenced material is located. Suggestion, Have two pages without page numbers(cover page) followed by a table of contents then the document. Does the table of contents page numbers match the page numbers in the document? They both should be the same. Thanks, Al Winter - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In fact, that is what I did to change the page numbers in my manual. That's the wrong way. You must insert a manual page break and set the starting page number in the dialog (like http://user-faq.openoffice.org/new-faq/Writer/faqwriternumbering/002.html) or you set the starting number in the properties of the very first paragraph of the new page in the register 'text flow' (like http://user-faq.openoffice.org/new-faq/Writer/faqwriternumbering/044.html). If you do it this way, the pagenumbers in TOC and indexes are correct. I know no situation where the 'Offset' of the fields-dialog is useful. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. So if crossfading leads to a color, which is not in the table the default is shown, if it is in the table, the color out of the table is shown. You can try this, if you crossfade from black to white with enouph steps (254) and you come to a grey out of the table, it is shown. Perhaps either a) add that into the Help, or b) automate the opening of the version in a new window to permit comparing, to eliminate the manual steps demonstrated below. ** by 'in-doc' I am referring to the FILE VERSIONS feature, not the EDIT COMPARE DOCUMENTS feature 1. Create a new Writer document 2. Save the empty doc (any filename) 3. Activate FILE VERSIONS 'always save a version on close' 4. In the document, type in the word 'one' 5. Close and save the doc 6. Reopen it; examine versions: 1 version now available 7. Add the word 'two' after the word 'one' 8. Close and save the doc 9. Re-open it; examine versions: 2 versions now available 10. Select the oldest version (top of list); click on 'compare' button 11. Focus returns to page -- NO TEXT CHANGES MARKED (should be showing 'two' as new text Here is how we force it to work: 12. In version list, select the oldest version (top of list) and click OPEN; the earlier version is opened as READ ONLY in a new window (contents: 'one') 13. Switch back to the other window (contents: 'one two') 14. Insert 5 in cell A2. Insert “=A1+A2” in A3, formatted to 3 decimal places. The result in A3 is 5.001. We believe the result should display 5.000 instead. We are not sure if this is a bug or a design implementation (i.e. should 0.001 be changed to 0.00 internally when formatted to two decimal places or stay the same internally and be displayed as 0.00). If the current issue is as you designed it to be, please close this issue as invalid. We figured it was best to report something that may or may not be a bug rather than leave it possibly unknown. But I don't see why this makes the current solution unusable for 2.0 ? Without the fondu support you will see no high quality fonts at all ! Just the few X11 fonts and Bitstream Vera, which is a really poor replacement for Times Roman, which it actually should be. Anyway, if the user installs new fonts they will not be availabe to OOo, regardless if we ship a simple fondu support or not. But if we ship it, users have at least the chance to get a lot of good fonts already available on their system. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Are you really sure that whole clean build process will be done without errors? Maveric as checked the whole cws, and made a build. Yes. Well, you have done, but testing is much more important. What do you want to say here, please? If you have seen something not clean, please say us what. The suggested fix for this was to install beta 2. Now I have a new problem; beta 2 is not able to open the documents I was having trouble with in beta 1. I opened a new issue about this; beta 2 does a crash and burn, and the ooo error report causes windows to generate its own error report about ooo error report, and the ooo error report never finishes running (issue 54939). However, I am not receiving any response to either issue. My biggest concern is that I have a 50-60 page document I've been working on for 3-4 months that I am no longer able to access.
