I work in DTP, so I know where you're coming from. On the other hand, I'm also
aware that much of the time, a 5% size change won't affect users in the
slightest. It's not something that should be done silently, though, I agree.

My real issue with all this is that it shouldn't be OO.o's problem. Really, the
*printer* needs to be given the option of policy settings on this, such as crop
and print, scale and print, prompt, reject job, etc.

This issue will crop up most in OO.o though, due to how common the
misconfiguration of Word is.

As such, maybe it's worth considering - as an RFE - a few options in prefs for
printing Letter (or A4, in Letter locales).

Thanks Niklas for your quick feedback!

Catching a ModelInfeasible exception was supposed to be fixed with that
snapshot, but it must've slipped. It's fixed now.

The scenario you've attached did indeed fail. Luckily I've pin-pointed the
problem during my test and fixed it. (It was due to the lambda calculation
routine incorrectly disallowing a zero value.)

A new snapshot (rev. 71) is up on my website with the above two issues fixed.

Isn't this a duplicate of #54569 and #54654?

I haven't marked it as such because I can't be sure. But it does look like
that.

(es: we can't go on meeting like this)

I can't help feeling that something changed and was broken in the numbering
code
around m120-ish, since there are at least two regressions since then, and maybe
one more of which I can't understand the description (#55004)

Target : 2.0.1

The actual launcher we provide with Mac OS X future version of OpenOffice.org
2.0 should be able to provide fondu feature.

fondu is a free software able to extract ttf from Apple's system fonts.

Implement this features needs some adjustments with main.script.

ericb - all

Fondu is not in 2.0RC, but is scheduled for 2.0.1

My arguments :

- Fondu must be patched for complex fonts use (else : segfault)
- What if Mac User installs new fonts *after* OpenOffice.org2.0 installation ?
- this feature is not trivial to implement
- macosx11 is imho complete

For the record, the actual script does provide the following features :
- starts X11 properly / add kb extension (fixes probably temporarly #i49752# )
- works for multi users, even if they have no admin rights
... (I forgot som others pretty features)

I propose that we :

- use the actual script I have commited (fondu part is commented inside) for
2.0RC
- create a new issue for fondu feature, with 2.0.1 target

For me #i42998# is fixed : we have code to provide a built-in launcher, and this
one works fine.

I have created #i55022# for fondu, with target 2.0.1. We won't have time to fix
it before.

-maho: I corrected the suport for fink, please check
-ericb: the segmentation fault is not so problematic becaus I call fondu
individualla for each font, so if
single fonts let fondu crash the others can still be converted
additionally, i dont' consider this feature as problematic so why not ship it.
personal fonts or those that
are installed later, some UI etc. can be done for 2.0.1, but the experience for
people who have fondu is
much better now, anyway, the community should decide
+1 from me ;)

Reproducible with 2.0 (1.9.m125) German version WIN XP: [680m125(Build8947)]
Scroll slider fills 100% of scrollbar and can no longer be moved, if you scroll
to row with high cell in attached 'testfile.ods'.
So status - NEW
All OS because also in WIN XP.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open 'testfile.ods'
cursor should be in cell C11
2. move dursor up by cursor keys to C1
when you reach C1, scroll slider increases to 100% of scrollbar size and can
no longer be moved by mousepointer.
workaround: click scroll down button at bottom end of scrollbar

If you can not reproduce the bug because the cell does not fill complete
available hight of your available screen, pls. zoom and try again.

ssa:
thank you very much!

all:
but I'm against about osacompile since it requires Apple
windowserver, and not X11 display. I and Pavel Janik always compile OOo via ssh,
so that we don't have to sit in front of
real Mac. Note, only I and Pavel Janik provide packages systematically and
routinely:
checkout for example ftp://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/

ssa: could you please re-consider the way we don't need Apple
window server? Or can we prepare pre-compiled version as default?

maho, I don't have a solution for the osacompile problem. for now I would
suggest using VNC. consider you would prepare builds for the Win32 platform (I
don not know if you actually do it) but then you would need a remote desktop
client as well.
may be we find a better solution in the future. I'm thinking about a real native
launcher that does not use applescript anymore, so it could be compiled as any
other module, hopefully. but for 2.0 I see no solution except using VNC.
regards
stephan

ericb-maho

I just discussed about this with Pavel and asari on IRC 5 minutes ago. To build
remotely, you need to have the fast user switch enabled on the remote machine.
IMHO this is not really a problem : you certainly can reach you machine one time
(or someone with login and admin rights ) to enable this. Using VNC works too,
but I cannot believe none has physical access to this machine.

IMHO, this is not an issue

ericb-ssa :

Imagine an user installs a new font after OpenOffice.org2.0 installation. How
can this font be available in OpenOffice.org2.0 ?

We certainly will meet this case...

My proposition :

If your last attachment, already solves this case, I'm ok for include fondu in
2.0RC
If not, fondu will be added in 2.0.1, completing #i55022#, or as soon as we have
an answer.

maveric-maho: If we support fink fondu what about Darwinports, gentoo portage,
netbsd pkgsrc etc ppp?
We will surely find users like me out there with fondu installed via these
packagemanagement systems (in my case Darwinports) and only because fink maybe
the widest spread packagemangement system and you yourself use it we include it?
Or because of OOo available via fink? Should be only a matter of time to get OOo
into Darwinports too. Or what's the reason for only including fink and excluding
the other packagemanagement systems? And may I remember you that you yourself
used pkgsrc not that long time ago? Would you have insisted to use pkgsrc
fondu?

Don't get me wrong but if we now take care of every possibility we have a 2.0
ready by the time when all other plattforms have a 2.0.1 or 2.5 or something
out.

If I would have the time and server capacity I would also provide regular
Milestones but there is no use for it currently. So please don't show up here as
the hero of Mac OS X OOo port.

maveric-ericb: You're right we will get this case and we have to think about
it.

In conclusion and as a possible compromise we for now support fondu only for
/usr/local/bin and perhaps fink and for 2.0.1 we think about a really good
solution on the fondu problem and the arising problems on how to later add a
font to OOo using fondu or whatever other method there is. For the more savvy
user we can inlcude a readme on how to convert fonts using fondu on the
terminal.

marveric:

If someone uses fondu via some package management system, s/he set the path for
it. so hardcoding the path might be wrong...You can submit a patch that doesn't
hardcord path. This might help you (and other packagemanagement lovers as well).

*sigh* if you want to please do it, it is up to you. My motivation is totally
different. As a part of release engineering by community, I'm doing the regular

Thanks for clearing up some points about you and your motivations. I had no real
clear picture of this.

About regular build: As written I have no time to do them. I need my Mac for
work and for OOo and work has priority.

About fondu: I can live with fink only but we should really think of a good
solution when there is no hurry and we have more time for details. So 2.0.1 or
2.0.2 can be a good goal for finding a solution on how to integrate native
fonts.

Can Paste a copied object first after unmarking the object.
This differs from what people are used to in other programs.

Plus that the pasted object lies directly on top of the copied object which will
fool some to believe they didn´t get a copy.

Location:

IF we really have to use NSIS, and the directory is really
unmovable/undeletable,
then please put it somewhere else, NOT on the Desktop.
It can be in the /Windows folder, or newly created /Program
Files/OpenOffice.org/setup
or anything that is NOT the Desktop.

Q: Why ?
A: Periodically, Windows XP will ask the user to clear out unused icons
(documents/folders) on the
Desktop (or eventually it automatically do that for the user) -- so the path
will broken.
(and this is a worst case scenario, Wasted disk space AND Cannot repair the
setup -- at the same time!)

I have now attached a sample file as requested. I don't know if it makes any
difference whether the document was originally created in OOo1.1.x-- this one
was.

The document orientation is landscape and shows on the screen in landscape, but
printer tries to print in portrait.

@ mrkeef,
I tested your document with 2.0 (1.9.m125) German version WIN XP:
[680m125(Build8947)] on my Officejet 6110: It was printed in landscape
orientation without any new settings for orientation or else. May be that there
is a printer driver problem or something else, but I cant see any general
problem.

If you can provide a step by step instruction lookin like following, we might
continue to check this, but for this existing document, I do not see any chance
to get this NEW

Step by step instruction (example)
1. open new WRITER document
   (standard format A4 portrait
2. Write text this is an example with testsize 120
3. Print
expected: portrait, text in 2 lines
   actual: as expected
4. change page setting to landscape
5. print again
expected: landscape, text in 1 line parallel to loger page border
actual: portrait. text 1 line parallel to shorter page border.

Something like this would be motivation for further tests.

Changing the color percentage of the upper color in the gradient leads to
increased black

TRY:
set! rectangle - area - gradient - upper color grey 10% / lower color white
reduce the quantity of upper color from 100% to 50% - color gradient becomes
blacker than before

reduction of lower color percentage is OK !

Using OOBase to connect to an instance of a HSQLDB server all existing tables
are treated as read only. If you create a table it will also be read only. If
you try to edit any table, no column information is displayed. If you create a
form and add controls opening the form will show nothing in the controls,
however the navigator will correctly display the number of records in the table.

This problem has been found by two people with slightly different configurations
- WinXP SP2, OO.o 1.9.130 connecting to a server on localhost running hsqldb
1.8.0
and Win2k sp4, OO.o 1.9.125. connecting to a server running hsdqldb 1,8.0.2

Looked at http://user-faq.openoffice.org/new-faq/Writer/faqwriternumbering/.
I understand how to change a page number on a field.
In fact, that is what I did to change the page numbers in my manual.

Table of contents page numbers uses actual page count, not the page number
printed on the page where the referenced material is located.

When there is a cover page followed by a blank page, (two sided page printing)
the page number for a chapter in the table of contents is two pages higher
than the page number printed on the page where the chapter begins.
The pages in the index table are also off by the same number of pages.

Result is the page numbers in table of contents or index table do not match the
printed page number of where a chapter begins.

Table of contents and index table pages should always match the page number of
the page where the referenced material is located.

Suggestion,
Have two pages without page numbers(cover page) followed by a table of contents
then the document.
Does the table of contents page numbers match the page numbers in the document?
They both should be the same.

Thanks,
Al Winter

hi awinterjr,
I understand how to change a page number on a field.
In fact, that is what I did to change the page numbers in my manual.

That's the wrong way. You must insert a manual page break and set the starting
page number in the dialog (like
http://user-faq.openoffice.org/new-faq/Writer/faqwriternumbering/002.html) or
you set the starting number in the properties of the very first paragraph of the
new page in the register 'text flow' (like
http://user-faq.openoffice.org/new-faq/Writer/faqwriternumbering/044.html).

If you do it this way, the pagenumbers in TOC and indexes are correct. I know no
situation where the 'Offset' of the fields-dialog is useful.

I am using Impress build 1.9.130.

When inserting text into a spreadsheet, oriented text is not spaced the same
distance as non-oriented text. When left-spacing 0.1pt, the angled text is to
the right of the non-angled text. When left-spacing 141.8pt, the angled text is
to the left of the non-angled text. Here are the steps:

1) Open Impress.
2) Insert a spreadsheet.
3) Select column A, format cells, and then the borders tab.
4) Set all the spacing to contents fields to zero.
5) Enter text into the first four items in column A.
6) Orient 1A and 3A to 45 degrees. (format cells, alignment, text orientation)
7) Set Spacing to Contents, Left to .1pt for 1A and 2A.
8) Set Spacing to Contents, Left to 141.8 for 3A and 4A.

Notice that the oriented text is spaced differently, to the right or left of,
the non-oriented text even though the spacing is the same.

The register color in the area dialog shows the color of the selected object
if it is in the current color-table. If it is not in the current color-table it
shows RBG 0 0 0 as default. So if crossfading leads to a color, which is not in
the table the default is shown, if it is in the table, the color out of the
table is shown. You can try this, if you crossfade from black to white with
enouph steps (254) and you come to a grey out of the table, it is shown.

The colors of the objects which you generate with crossfading or duplicate are
not added to the table, but they are stored inside the objects.

The OOWriter help file does not state that an in-doc version** must be first
opened in its own window in order to perform the COMPARE function. Perhaps
either a) add that into the Help, or b) automate the opening of the version in a
new window to permit comparing, to eliminate the manual steps demonstrated
below.

** by 'in-doc' I am referring to the FILE VERSIONS feature, not the EDIT
COMPARE DOCUMENTS feature

1. Create a new Writer document

2. Save the empty doc (any filename)

3. Activate FILE VERSIONS 'always save a version on close'

4. In the document, type in the word 'one'

5. Close and save the doc

6. Reopen it; examine versions: 1 version now available

7. Add the word 'two' after the word 'one'

8. Close and save the doc

9. Re-open it; examine versions: 2 versions now available

10. Select the oldest version (top of list); click on 'compare' button

11. Focus returns to page -- NO TEXT CHANGES MARKED (should be showing 'two' as
new text

Here is how we force it to work:

12. In version list, select the oldest version (top of list) and click OPEN; the
earlier version is opened as READ ONLY in a new window (contents: 'one')

13. Switch back to the other window (contents: 'one two')

14. Go to Versions list; select the oldest version (top of list) and click
COMPARE; now that version is correctly compared to the latest version, popping
up the ACCEPT/REJECT dialog

Thanks,
Andrew Ferguson

sys.prefix should contain the path to Python installation.

On Windows XP it contains a path URL instead of a system path.
This URL path ends with:
  /program/python-core
It should instead end with:
  /program/python-core-2.3.4

Hi,

solenv/config/stand.lst defines SRC680 (see the first line), but not OOO680.
Thus, at least localize's -e doesn't work.

Objective:Use text animation to display selected text letter-by-letter from
left to right.
I used custom animation and text animation. Effect Options - Text animation
letter by letter moving from left to right, 102.4% delay between characters.
The selected effect from custom animation was Wipe. Text was grouped as one
object.
It functioned yet while doing it, text letters would appear, disappear, and
then reappear as the wipe moved from left to right.
I have a one slide demonstration to show it if I can attach the file and send
to you.

I have checked those icons and I found the root of the problem. The icon files
are good, but they do not contain the pictures with 32 bit (8bit transparency)
color. For the perfect solution we may need the source of icons (where can we
found?) and they have to add to icons in 32 bit formats.
If I counted well 27 icons are affected and need to be revised.

Version: 1.9.130
While testing some summations in a spreadsheet insert of Impress, we noticed the
following issue:

Insert 0.001 in cell A1, format to 2 decimal places.
Insert 5 in cell A2.
Insert “=A1+A2” in A3, formatted to 3 decimal places.
The result in A3 is 5.001. We believe the result should display 5.000 instead.

We are not sure if this is a bug or a design implementation (i.e. should 0.001
be changed to 0.00 internally when formatted to two decimal places or stay the
same internally and be displayed as 0.00). If the current issue is as you
designed it to be, please close this issue as invalid. We figured it was best
to report something that may or may not be a bug rather than leave it possibly
unknown.

Thank you for your time.

1. Create new text document
2. Write Hello world
3. Mark text
4. Right click and select Character
5. Mark Hidden in Font effects tab

Result: Observe that the text is invisible as expected but you have also lost
your caret and the possibilty to unmark Hidden = Writer's block :-)

Hi, let me try to answer the questions.

Gerry, no, the resources are not limited. This means that we can use the wiki as
an extension of the functionality we have available in the openoffice.org
domain. It's not a license heaven, it's not an replacement of each project's
Documentfiles section nor for the download servers or mirror network. Feel free
to contact me directly via email about FontOOo.

Feel free to use the wiki to collaborate on OpenOffice.org related documents.

ericb: the current fondu solution performs conversion of the installed system
fonts exactly once, so you will not see fonts in OOo that are installed in your
home nor will you see fonts that get installed after the first OOo run. But I
don't see why this makes the current solution unusable for 2.0 ? Without the
fondu support you will see no high quality fonts at all ! Just the few X11 fonts
and Bitstream Vera, which is a really poor replacement for Times Roman, which it
actually should be.
Anyway, if the user installs new fonts they will not be availabe to OOo,
regardless if we ship a simple fondu support or not. But if we ship it, users
have at least the chance to get a lot of good fonts already available on their
system.

Version: OpenOffice 1.9.130
Running on Windows XP

To reproduce:
Enter text.
Change font type to the name of a font that doesn’t exist (We used “TonyDanza”
for fun).

The new text reports that its font is indeed TonyDanza, and it looks like an
Arial font. However, if you bold the text, it changes in appearance to that of
Bodoni MT Black.

We were able to reproduce this in Writer as well as Spreadsheet in Impress
(where we first noticed the bug).

Ok, no problem, let's add this feature in 2.0RC.
I'll commit the new main.applescript as soon as possible, and I'll declare this
issue fixed when done.

Do you think it is possible to add the new fonts just deleting the file created
while first install ?
If so, everything is fine : we just have to add this tip in the FAQ when new
fonts are installed.

changing to enhancement
For colors which are generated via crossfading their RGB-values should be shown.

The same enhancement would be useful if they are created via duplicate.

ssa:
+1 from me.

ericb:
Please re-consider what you are doing. only you are testing this one. Personally
I'm always doing full build and check whether whole build process are sound.
This is extremely tedious but very important. Are you really sure that whole
clean build process will be done without errors? and much more important, are
you really sure this is really working? Well, you have done, but testing is much
more important.

What is the problem ? Everything is commited, and all the needed stuff is
attached to this issue.
If you want a complete patch, up to you to create one, but attach it here will
be completely useless.

Are you really sure that whole clean build process will be done without errors?

Maveric as checked the whole cws, and made a build. Yes.
I have rebuild from *clean sources*, after resync'd with m130 + checkout of
macosx1, nothing else, and everything was fine.

and much more important, are you really sure this is really working? Well, you
have done, but testing is much more important.

What do you want to say here, please? If you have seen something not clean,
please say us what.
And if you want to know, m130 is already tested, and everything works fine.

Just don't forget do do autoconf in config_office, to regenerate configure.

I had trouble with several documents I had created with the first beta (Issue
54625).
The suggested fix for this was to install beta 2.
Now I have a new problem; beta 2 is not able to open the documents I was having
trouble with in beta 1.
I opened a new issue about this; beta 2 does a crash and burn, and the ooo
error
report causes windows to generate its own error report about ooo error report,
and the ooo error report never finishes running (issue 54939).
However, I am not receiving any response to either issue.
My biggest concern is that I have a 50-60 page document I've been working on
for
3-4 months that I am no longer able to access.
Is there some way that someone could open this document and send it to me in
raw
text format?

1.) We downloaded the new OO beta build 1.30 and we decided to install
Impress, Writer and Math (A custom, not complete installation).
2.) We then opened Impress and tried to insert a spreadsheet (using the
insert -- spreadsheet). We could not because we didn’t have Calc
installed.
3.) We then proceeded to install the other components Base, Calc and Draw
(Another custom installation). We did not install them orignally, because we
did not think we would have need for them.
4.) We then opened Impress again. The spreadsheet now appeared under the
insert heading but it was shaded out. We could not insert the spreadsheet.
--^This is the problem^--
5.) We then uninstalled all of OO and reinstalled all the components (a
complete install). This time we were able to insert the spreadsheet.

Is this non-updating of features from a new installation a bug? or is there
another step beyond just installing pieces which must be done to link the new
features?

We were testing Impress to see if it would be capable of managing a maximum
size spreadsheet (65536 rows, 256 columns IV).
1.) We inserted a spreadsheet by using the spreadsheet under the Insert
heading on the first toolbar.
2.) We resized the spreadsheet to fill the entire screen(we resized beyond the
top of the work area).
3.) We were unable to see the top of the spreadsheet (column headers, rows
12). The highest cell row we could see was row 3 and the column headers were
not visible.
4.) We then entered (in the top left text field ) A1 to reach the top of the
spreadsheet. (we did this after scrolling down - same result as 3.)

We were testing Impress to see if the scrollbars would move the current
viewing area correctly.
1.) We inserted a spreadsheet by using the spreadsheet under the Insert
heading on the first toolbar.
2.) We used a max size spreadsheet [65536 rows, 256 columns IV](aligned to
the top-left corner of Impresses display area) and then scrolled down toward
the middle of the rows (~row 32768).
3.) We then moved the bottom scrollbar (to move across the width of the
display area) and everything worked fine. We left this bar all the way left.
4.) We then moved the side scrollbar (to move across the height of the display
area) and the viewing area jumped several columns to the right even though the
bottom scroll bar did not change.
5.) Then upon moving the bottom scroll bar the row headers appeared again.
