You know, if I write tpday the spellcheker suggest 'today'. And there are some more examples of similar behaviour, but still the spellcheck is not very intelligent. I guess I should have written *intelligent spellchecker* in my original description of the issue. I said that things were looking better because when I type 'oroginal', the first suggestion is original. Similarly, when I mistype, new as 'nww' the first suggestion is 'new'. But still there are many instances where the spellcheker is unable to prompt the right suggestion. So, while there is progress, I won't say that the issue ahs been solved. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. So I hope that my translations of the menus are correct. In a table: 1. right-click on a cell and select table 2. In the text-flow register select textdirection 3. It is only possible to select left-to-right and right-to-left (vertically) 4. It is much more common to have an option left-to-right (vertically). The document imports OK but the number of pages is incorrect. She used Book Antigua (sizes 14 and 12 and 8) which I have installed on my SuSE 10.0 system from Windows XP font directory. The font looks correct but it looks like the style sheet is not being imported. Under Word 2003 the document is 151 pages long, after import it is 129 pages. Apparently the page margins are also not being imported. I changed them to match the original document and the document is now 141 pages. All the data appears to be there, the font size is the same and the only difference I find is there is a style sheet called Book - Antigua on the word 2003 system that apparently was not imported. Question: Should the style sheet and page margins be Imported?? I asked this question on the mailing list and was told it looks like a bug and to report it here. A search shows a simular problem of font issues in 2003, but not the style sheet part. Note that I used the lowercase format codes hh and mm instead of HH and MM because the documentation (date formats;number format codes) suggests using lowercase for hours-minutes-seconds and uppercase for year-month-day. Anyway, the problem still appears with the common uppercase codes. It seems that there is no way to get minutes as a cell format (the function MINUTE() could be used, but it would just be a workaround). All my .stw templates transferred to the new installation. Opened a .stw template, made several changes. Chose File-Templates-Save. Clicked the old file name in the templates dialog, and confirmed OK to overwrite. Save occurred without any abnormal indications. Closed document (discard changes.) Chose File-New-From Template; selected newly revised template. All my changes were gone. Went to the Finder, navigated to ~/Library/Preference/Neo2.../templates/english and found that there were two templates with the same name: one used .ott and the other .stw. I manually removed the .stw template from the folder. Returned to Neo2, chose New-From Template; selected the same template name; all my changes were present. Seems that Neo2 defaults to the .stw file type, and does not discard the .stw when overwrite is confirmed and .ott is used as the extension. THIS BEHAVIOR IS CONFIRMED IN Ooo 2.0.2/X11 by another user, and has been submitted to the NeoOffice bugzilla . Another Neo forum member suggested that the bug be posted here, since it seems to be core behavior. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The reason I ask defect by design is that if someone was to evaluate OpenOffice out of the box as a replacement for Excel out of the box, and one of there criteria happened to be the SUMIF function - This has just failed it. Also this prevents the use of both SUMIF Regular Expressions in the same session. When someone is viewing the sheet, they can quite clearly see that the values match, however, as pointed out, you need to turn off an advanced feature (enable regular expressions) for it to work properly. Some pop-up of note in the formula editor should warn re: regular expressions. In the attached example file, I use vertical freezing (i.e. there is only one freeze line from top to bottom). As soon as you scroll down to rows which where not initially visiable when the scroll bar was at the very top, rows in freezed and non-freezed parts are not aligned. I'v colored rows 4,8 and 50,53 to demonstrate the issue. If you scroll up and down between these rows, you will see rows 4 and 8 get redrawed at the correct position (although I sometimes also get redraw artifacts for the background color there) but rows 50 and 53 are offset to the top or bottom depending on to which direction you scrolled last. I agree with this. I'll work on this to get the fix in by the next snapshot. The fix shouldn't be too complicated. 2) values in solver window should be saved in the document. That's what the Save and Load buttons are for (do you have these buttons in your Ubuntu version?) When you hit Save, your solver model gets stored as a metadata in your document, but note that you still need to save your document to commit it into the file. Maybe a nice information dialog telling the user that he/she still needs to save the document to permanently save the model would be a nice option. Perhaps we can do it smarter by automatically loading the saved model into the solver window when the window is opened for the first time. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. For an experenced linux user you have to know that first we need to mount the floppy disk using eithr a command or by clicking on the floppy link in gnomes system menu, then we need to know that the media was mounted to /media/floppy now we can go back to open office and use the open dialog to get the file off the disk. [sc-issues] [Issue 65940] Calc hangs when saving fi le, never completes
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=65940 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jun 4 19:04:12 -0700 2006 --- If I cut enough out of the spreadsheet to get it below the 1M attachment size limit, it doesn't fail any more. If there is somewhere I can upload a file bigger than 1M, I'll be glad to do it. But I cannot produce the failure in a file less than 1M. Here's what I think is happening. This is basically a blind stab in the dark, but I have seen (in fact, I've coded) this type of bug often enough to recognize the symptom: Somewhere there is a 32bit variable which contains the count of some kind of things in the spreadsheet. I haven't the faintest idea what the variable might be called or what kind of things it counts. Somewhere else, in the Save code, there is a 16bit variable which contains another count of the same kind of things. As the Save code processes the things it is trying to save, it increments the 16bit counter. When the value of the 16bit counter matches the value of the 32bit variable, the Save routine knows it has processed everything, and it's done. At a very specific point, when there are more than 65,536 of this kind of thing in the spreadsheet, the value of the 16bit counter can never equal the value of the 32bit variable. The 16bit counter can count and count and count for all eternity, but a 16bit counter cannot hold a value greater than 65535, it just cycles through the range 0 to 65535 over and over and over. And the Save function hangs. If I delete stuff out of the spreadsheet to get it below 1M, I end up with less than 65535 things, and the problem disappears. I don't *know* that this is the problem, but it perfectly explains the symptoms. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=65940 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jun 4 22:02:41 -0700 2006 --- Alright, now I'm getting somewhere. I'm pretty sure my hunch was somewhere close to the truth. I knew the file wouldn't save after I filled one more cell, so I counted the number of cells like that one cell. The change that caused the hang was to merge two adjacent cells along a row. I counted the number of times this merge format occurred in my sheet. 65535. When I copy this merge format to one more pair of cells, I can no longer save the file. So I thought, if it's just the number of occurrences of a *format*, maybe it doesn't matter what the cell *contents* are. Sure enough, I could delete *all* cell contents from the whole sheet, and just leave the formatting, and I can still reproduce the problem. Without the contents, the sheet is way less than 1MB, so I will attach it. I just had to know what could be deleted and still reproduce the failure. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
