I´m sorry, but the problem is not solved...or there is some problem with OO
download site... I´ve just uninstall my version of OO beta 3.0 and from the site
http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/download-form.php downloaded and installed
OO.org-3.0.0.rc4 (after the installation, in the Help/about in OO the version
OOO300m9 is shown). And in this version the reopening of a calc file which is in
the same time used by another user on the LAN fails - this means i did not get
the messege, the file is in use! I checked it right now 2 times and it does not
work...I get the messege (and possibility to open it as red only file) only the
first time i open this document. After closing and reopening it, there is no
message.

[porting-issues] [Issue 93913] Open Type fonts handling i n German version of OOO3.0RC1

Hi hdu,

please correct the link - it points to this issue itself.

Now that OOo 3.0 final is available, I have to note that the error is still
there - the german version does not show the fonts the same way as the english
one. So I am not sure if this is only a general problem with the handling of
OpenType fonts; there seem to be some code inside the localised versions that
differs from the original one.

Or have you got any other explanation for this really strange behaviour?

This problems seems to be reproducible on all Version as of 2.4 I've tested
these days.

1. Create some Headings
2. Create a TOC

upon here, all works fine, the headings appears in TOC and in navigator

3. add Numbering to your Heading Paragraphs

- Numbering is fine, (ok, numbering will not be inherited by Heading1 if defined
for parent "heading", but this is irrelevant that way)
- Headings are "lost" in TOC and no longer accessible by navigator!!!

This is a great showstopper that will prevent using OpenOffice in our company
atm ;(

If this is a "user error" please make it "bullet proof"!! Thanks!

With kind regards from Germany,
~Marcel

P.S: I'll attach three Screenshots regarding this behaviour

Reproducible. Reassigned.
As a workaround you might use the more "direct" way to crop that is new inOOo
3.0: after selecting the picture the picture bar comes up. At the right side
there is the crop button which will let you do cropping directly on the picture
in the drawing view.

Steps to create the problem :

1. create new .ODS spreadsheet
2. insert '07.01.1900' in one cell ( first appears as 07.01.00 , but you can
change the format of the cell to DATE dd.mm.)
3. SAVE AS... Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP ( .xls )
4. Open the newly created .xls file with MS Excel or MS Excel Viewer
5. Observe the date : 08.01.1900

6. If you open the .xls with OpenOffice the cell contet is OK ( 07.01.1900 )

7. Please note that this situation is valid vice-versa :

-- if you save that cell in Microsoft Excel (.xls) first and then open it with
OpenOffice it will show 06.01.1900 !

What dictionaries do you see in the spell check dialogue, that opens after you
pressed 'F7', in the 'Dictionary language pane'? Do the listed languages have a
check?

Same question that opens in menu 'Options -> tools -> Language Settings ->
Writing Aids -> "Hunspell Checker" -> Edit'

Does spell check work if you select other languages in the document?

Did you try to reinstall with deleting your "profile" (Folder "Documents and
Settings -> Anwendungsdaten (I do not know the English word)-> OpenOffice.org"?

Did you install any OOOo3 version before?

It would be very useful to have a per document dictionary so that if I have a
term that is unusual but occurs often in a document I can avoid having it tagged
by the spelling checker without adding it to a global dictionary and without
having to reset "ignore all" each time I open oowriter or oocalc (the two
components I use most often).

It would be really great if this dictionary could be part of the ODF file
itself, so that special use words in the document would always be checked
against the list. Of course that may be hard to get added to the official ODF
spec.

When converting the document to powerpoint format the background image does not
stay scaled to fit the slide as in the original. Even if selecting relative
instead of original for sizing under page setup and then saving it does not stay

I'm running into the same issue on OOO300m9 (Build:9358) running on Mac OS X
Leopard 10.5.4 (9E17). Create a template. Set it as default. Open new text
document, template is correctly used. Close OOO entirely. Reopen OOO. Open
new text document, template is ignored.

I see this on both Ubuntu's version of 2.4.1 and upstream's version of 3.0.0.

What is your setting in Tools > Options > Calc > Calculate?

12/30/1899 (default)

What setting has OOo, when the document was created?

the same

Is it a new, original ods-document or is it converted from another file format?

new original ods-document

Do you use a OOo-version provided by Ubuntu?

happens either way

This new attached file is the original file from Word 2000 in Chinese. Copy the
following text, select all the text in the .doc file, paste the following text
over it. You may also try typing in Western text yourself. The bug should show
up.

Mat 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their
synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and
sickness.
Mat 9:36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were
harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Mat 9:37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the
workers are few.
Mat 9:38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his
harvest field."

I am the Ubuntu maintainer and have opened this file on Ubuntu under official
Openoffice.org 3.0.0 (not our packages) and I still see lots of missing glyphs
(or at least weird question mark symbols) just like it does with the Ubuntu
packages which I believe is what this bug was mainly about.

mru,

So this file displays completely correct for you?

Chris

On *nx systems, OOo won't be able to save a file when the device mounted to /tmp
is full or not writeable for some other reason (think NFS). Unfortunately the
error message provided by OOo says only "could not write content.xml", which is
not very illuminative to the average user.

Users should be given some hint why something went wrong, e.g. by piping through
the O/S' error message ("no space left on device" or so). Also, the full path to
content.xml could be given in the error message, i.e. /tmp/content.xml.

On further testing, the speed of the slide show is noticeably degraded in
comparison with OO 2.4.1 with the same show, because I can have the hardware
acceleration on for 2.4.1. The speed is acceptable in 3.0.0, but barely. It
limps. For the long run, the hardware acceleration needs a "cure."

Still don't know what was causing the Java exception access violations with both
OOo 2.2.0 and OOo 2.4.1. Evidently neither are compatible with Java 6. Upgrading
to OOo 3.0.0 appears to have fixed the issue, but I won't know for sure until
the next Java update after 6u7.

XML format is a format supported by Office 2003. try it. do a file|Save As.
Unfortunately, OOo3.0.0 isn't currently doing it right. this format is new to

Tested with 3.0

Suspect the reason the formula was left as lower case by Excel is that it's
uncomputable (average counts the number of numbers, and there are 0 numbers in
your range). If you change the range to include any number (eg a1:b77 the
formula works immediately. If you type a number in the existing range and then
in the formula in A78 type any character, remove it and then press Return the
formula also works.

If you type in the same formula to any other cell, you get the Divide by zero
warning, which is correct (no numbers in the range).

Therefore the defect is not recognising as a formula a string which Excel
refused to convert into a formula. I doubt this is P2 and it might be
considered more an enhancement than a bug.

Tested with Excel 2002. Average over a blank set of cells is correctly
recognised and gives the Divide by zero warning. Thus the problem probably
arises because of the application which originally wrote the XLS file, which may
not have been Excel - it's a bug there not really in Calc.

Changing to P3 and setting wontfix because it's a rather unlikely situation.
Please revert if you don't agree.

The set of word delimiter characters for mouseclick-selection of words is not
configurable (according to answer in the forum). (I need to remove '_' from the
set of word delimiter characters so that I can select identifiers like
my_sql_table with a mouseclick instead of just a part of the identifier.)

Sometimes, while reading and writing notes on a presentation, Impress will stop
responding to commands for changing the type of view. Clicking on the different
tabs, or using the View menu visibly changes the status of both the menu items
and the tabs. However, the actual view does not change, but is stuck in whatever
view it was in. The last time I noticed this happening, was when I went from
fullscreen slideshow to the current view.

I am writing a document. I copy a selection out of Adobe Acrobat reader. I
paste the selection into the document I am writing. I then notice that it is in
a different font etc. So I hit the undo button. The pasted selection is
removed but the font and point size of the pasted selection remains. I would
expect that if I was typing in Times new roman 12 pt and pasted a selection of a
different font and point size that when I undid the paste I would be back at the
previous font and point size. As exampled in the attachment.

I check every time there is a new release and I've just spent an hour trying it
now on several machines, even on a windows machine.
This machine (Mandriva 2009.0 64bit KDE 4) has ISO date set as standard, that
is, most apps pick up that I have selected -MM-DD as the default long and
short date.

I open OOCalc (user interface language, set to default)
I enter the date 2008-09-10
I leave the cell,
the program changes the entry to 10/09/08 (whatever that means)
I double click the entry to edit it
the program changes the entry to 10/09/2008 (whatever that means)
If I want to edit the date I have to 'guess what it means, so I enter 12/30/2008
(guessing that it is american)
press enter
oops, it's no longer a date,

This is a dogs breakfast. It may have been acceptable to write applications like
this at one time but this is a global world, (sic)
All it needs is a box for the default date format, ISO will be the world
standard one day, but I'd like to use it now.

@kendy: I think we are using libm somewhere and need /usr/lib.
As long as /usr/include/mingw/include is concerned, it is a hack to cope with
stlport probllem. The patch will be OK if we can live with --without-stlport.

Hi jbu,
Thanks for your help to solve this problem. Do you know that a non compiled
version of bibus exist so that you can check the source code? It might help you
to debug the problem. You can download it there:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/bibus-biblio/bibus-1.4.3-Win32-Setup.exe?use_mirror=

You can also browse the source code there:
http://bibus-biblio.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/bibus-biblio/bibus/

I also attached the bibooobase.py file.
I hope that will help and thanks again for your help. Cheers,
Hilaire

Hi,

sorry for the confusion around python23.dll, this actually solves a problem but
not the bibus one.

The bibus stuff is very hard to debug (it is binary compiled python code).

The actual error message points to a problem not related to pyuno directly. It
actually says, that OOo has no bibOOo_NoConnect element, which acutally can
only occur, when the module OOo somehow exists, but all the
bibOOoBase.py/bibOOoPlus.py has not been imported. To, this looks like some
other initialization error.

I currently doubt, that the office connection code has ever been reached. In
order to give more support here, I actually need the exception, that comes from
the bibOOoBase.__init__ code.

Can you provide such a stacktrace ?

When I look into the bibus installation directory, I find a pyuno.dll and a
python23.dll. Where are these dlls from ? Do they get used ?

Bye,

Joerg

I've attached a screenshot.

So far, it has happened to 3 out of 4 ppt files I was reading. It probably
didn't occur with the 1 instance, since I didn't do a lot of note taking on it.
The latest instance happened right when I opened the ppt file, but I have opened
and saved it before quite a few times. I'm not sure whether the other files were
broken when I opened them, or whether it just happened while I was using them.

While I realize there should not be any updates for 3.0 yet, I did not expect to
get the following error:

Status
Checking for Update Failed

Description
Could not establish Internet connection to update30.services.openoffice.org.

The HELP tells me to set a proxy. The default is to use system settings. Both
my I.E. and Firefox browsers, as well as my email, and adobe acrobat can access
the internet for updates. I know of no proxy settings for any of them. Why is
this not working? Is there a way to get more information, such as trace what is
happening to debug this?

in Outline view double-clic on the icon on the left of the title doesn't toggle
anymore between the views:
- title only
- title with Outlines (headings)

Reproduced with a new presentation on OOo3.0.0 on:
- Win32
- Linux X64

Regression? It worked on OOo 2.4.1 Win32

- make sure you do *not* have the Sun Report Builder installed
- open the attached database document
- select "Reports" on the left hand side
- in the lower right pane, select the report "distribution"
- Edit / Copy
- Edit / Paste
=> a dialog pops up asking you for the name of the to-be-pasted object
- confirm the suggested name with OK
=> nothing happens. In particular, the report is not copied.

The expected result is that the report is copied. If this really turns out to be
too difficult to implement, then at least an error message should be shown.

targeting to 3.1 - not being able to discard changes to my database document is
pretty ugly. In particular, it could be interpreted as data loss - if you
deleted some items from your report, and then close the DBDoc without saving the
changes, they "re-appear" when you open the document.

your explanation probably helped (probably there were issues with fetching those
imges from www)

but OOo could have a dialog showing, what's going on...
so user could himself understand the issue

because now I see another issue (independantly the file with external images and
the cleaned one now open in more or less the same time) -
but if I open one by one, the second one opens 2-3 times slower?
where's the rub?

Downloaded OpenOffice.org 3 on an XP client, and looks nice.
But I also have Windows 98 systems on which I'd like to install.
System requirements for OpenOffice.org 3 explicitly excludes
mention of Windows 98. OpenOffice.org 2 explicitly includes
support for Win98. But there no longer appears to be a download
link!? From where can I download OpenOffice.org 2.x.x for the
remaining Win98 clients?

- open the attached database document
- open the contained report for editing
- do an arbitrary change to the report design (i.e. change the height of the
  details section)
- save and close the report design
- close the database document
- when asked whether to save changes in the document, deny this
- open the database document, again
=> the document is still modified, and when you open the report design, you
see that the changes you just discarded are still there.

This is another incarnation of our usual ref-count problem. In this case, it
seems that as soon as you opened a report design which contains a chart object,
the database document is never really released, until you close OOo as a whole.
You can verify this by just opening and closing the report design (without
modifying it), then closing the database document, and then trying to
rename/remove the database file: on Windows XP, the only platform where we have
strict file locking, the operating system will deny this, telling you that the
file is in use. Only after OOo is terminated the file becomes accessible.

- open the attached database document
- open the contained report for editing
- click the "Label Field" icon in the toolbar, this way entering a mode where
you, with the mouse, can create a label field in the designer
- click onto the existing "ID" field in the report design, and move the mouse
while holding the mouse button down (doing as if you want to create a
  new label field)
- release the mouse button
=> Now every mouse move draws a dashed frame to to position where you pressed
the mouse, as if you were still in control-creation mode (which you aren't
anymore, since you released the mouse button).

Now, it's pretty difficult to leave this "zombie mouse mode" - you need repeated
clicks/releases of the mouse for this.

The report contains a chart which is abound to a parametrized query, but this

Hi,
In the Sun Minimizer, their is a variable appearing %ProductName where it seems
it should be %EXTENSIONNAME.

The string in my .po file is here :
#:
SunPresentationMinimizer.xcu#.SunPresentationMinimizer.Strings.STR_INFO_1.value.text
msgid "The %EXTENSIONNAME has successfully updated the presentation '%TITLE'.
The file size has changed from %OLDFILESIZE MB to %NEWFILESIZE MB."

All %ProductName variable are outdated and not used in this file.

In the screen shot (joined) the variable for the title of the dialog box and the
string is not right. We have checked it also with EN version.

Kind regards - Sophie

Note: to illustrate that it's indeed the expected behavior to also recognize and
handle parameters in the Filter property, the sample document also contains a
form document, where there is a logical form which has the same data source
(Content Type / Content / Filter) as the chart. There, the user is properly
asked for the parameter's values.

- open the attached database document
- execute the contained report by double-clicking it
=> the report contains an empty chart only.

This is actually wrong. The chart in the report is (as you can see when you open
the report for editing) is bound to a query which itself does not have
parameters, but it has a filter property
  WHERE MONTH( "tage"."Datum" ) = :monat AND YEAR( "tage"."Datum" ) = :jahr
, i.e. the filter (and thus the complete statement which the chart shall be
based on) contains two parameters. However, SRB never asks for those parameter's
values.

If you would put the parameters into the definition of the query, SRB would
properly ask for them, however, this workaround is not always an option.

- open the attached database document
- in the context menu of the "Identifier" table column, select "Column..."
=> the property browser opens, displaying the column's properties (as expected)
- in the context menu of the "Identifier" table column, select "Replace with" /
  "Formatted Field"
=> the column is replaced, but the property browser is not updated with the
properties of the new column object

If you continue working with the property browser in a non-product version, you
get multiple assertions which state that a certain object (the old column
object, that is) is already disposed.

Installation instructions have not been updated for 3.0. All references in the
intructions are for 2.0

Since you don't have a documentation subcomponent, I filed it under code.
