Put the cursor on the first line of the first page. Then scroll the document so that the second page is displayed in the Writer's window. Then minimize the window, and subsequently maximize it. You will see that the document has been scrolled so as to display the page in which the cursor lies. The same happens if, instead of minimizing/maximizing you display a window of another application that covers entirely the Writer's one. [sw-issues] [Issue 47844] Restart paragraph numberin g should be settable per Style

The problem is still present in 3.1. Basically, what is needed is the same behavior of in html: the possibility to define a paragraph style that restarts numbering of the items that come after it. Note that how items are numbered is logically an attribute of the paragraph style that starts a list of items, at least in all word processors that allow separation of contents from formatting. Word processors that do not allow such separation force users to set attributes on paragraph occurrences, which is what OOWriter forces to do. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I tried to reproduce the problem reducing further the document, but removing paragraphs or sections, or page breaks, etc. makes the problem disappear. Of course, I do not know how many users are affected. But anyone that would find 30 blank pages in his document would objectively think that an essential functionality of the product is affected by that bug. By the way, the first time that it occurred, the Writer crashed, a window appeared telling me that the problem had been sent to SUN (I guess some data describing the crash). P.S. perhaps the ".dot" extensions of the attached file is misleading. The document has nothing to do with Words. Then select the line and drag it with the mouse. The line can be placed almost everywhere in the page, at any pixel position, except close to the previous position. Drag the line far away from the original position, and then drag it slowly approaching the original one, which is still visible. The line that is being moved snaps to its original one as if it was still there, while effectively it is being moved. This means that if you want to move the line some pixels away, you cannot drag it. The expected behavior of snapping should exclude the object being moved from the picture so that it does not attract shapes when dragged. Besides that, there should be a way to disable snapping to objects entirely. -Angelo Borsotti - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 98996] Improvement in word comple tion

When there is more than one completion, and the presented one is not the one wanted, the user can either reject completions at all, and complete himself the word, or enter ctrl-tab to cycle thru completions. In this case word completion is almost useless since the number of ctrl-tab's to be entered and the pain to hit two keys simultaneously is most of the times higher than completing the word. In my everyday experience at least half of the words have more than one completion. This means that a very useful feature fails to provide its benefits half of the times. This could be overcome by displaying the completions one each second, having the enter key (or the configured one) accept the dispayed one. Alternatively, a popup could be displayed showing all completions and letting the user click on the desired one, but this makes the user move a hand from the console to the mouse. -Angelo Borsotti - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This issue is VERY important because when working with styles one should never resort to apply manual formatting to anything. It is also contrary to the XML approach of separation between contents and formatting that requires that all formatting be kept in styles. Other word processors have this feature. Not having it makes transition from other word processors to OO Writer quite cumbersome. I would like to raise the priority to P2. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 87682] pasting comma separated va lues does not split
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=87682 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Aug 29 21:22:43 + 2008 --- I do agree that it is not a bug. One of the main goals of an application such as a spreadsheet is to allow users to perform tasks easily. Values copied into spreadsheets are mostly taken from other sources, that separate them with some delimiter such as spaces, tabs, commas, etc. The most common operation on a sequence of values is to perform a same action on each of them. Therefore, it is very likely that users will place them eventually in separate columns. Forcing users to follow longer sequences of clicks for frequent operations seems contrary to usability. A possible solution could be to let users define the behavior of the paste operation: whether it splits or not. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. With release 2.4 the behaviour is different: the text is immediately pasted without asking. The user has then to select the cell, select the Data->Text to Column menu and then to ask to split the cell. This takes much more time and clicks than before. The operation has become more cumbersome. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
