A. Create a (Word 97 type) document in Word 97. Add two figures/images/pictures. The first image is not wider as the page, i.e. the space for text. A1. Add as Paste special and as picture. Equivalent to anchor AS character in OpenOffice A.2. The second images is somewhat wider as the page, i.e. the space for text. Add as Paste special and as picture. Equivalent to anchor AS character in OpenOffice A.3. Add page break. Add those two figures to page 2 also. A.4. Screenshots in this phase: A_page_1__in_Word_97.jpg A_page_2__in_Word_97.jpg B.1. [sw-issues] [Issue 70537] RTF Input Filter
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70537 User tmjura changed the following: What|Old value |New value CC|''|'tmjura' --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Oct 18 13:39:12 -0700 2006 --- I think that this file Formular_A_2007.rtf represents in a fine way many of the RTF problems I have reported in other issues. In issue 35217 is one reason why there layout might be different in Word and in OO. In this document there might be more reasons why layout is different. In issue 49087 is very rare situation where an image is disappeared. It might be possible that it works also other way round that OO misses RTF picture. In general, like issue 59345 shows there is problems when text is around or somehow related to a picture. There is also some problems with images in general - as issue 63306 and issue 59345 show. Issue 68385 describes problems with tabulators in RTF documents with OO. I would say that the file Formular_A_2007.rtf describes so many RTF problems that developers should take it as a general test reference. Real life documents are always better than some hastily maded quick and dirty test documents. To be precise what I used: - WIN XP Pro v. 2002 SP 2 (English version) - OpenOffice 2.0.4 RC 2 (English version) - Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 (English version) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Save the file as RTF_formatted.rtf in 2.0.4 RC 2. 3. close the file as RTF_formatted.rtf in 2.0.4 RC 2. 4.a. Open RTF_formatted.rtf in Word 2002. OR 4.b. Open RTF_formatted.rtf in 2.0.4 RC 2. Check lines A.1-A.7 and B.1-B.4. Lines A.4, A.5, A.6 and A.7 have lost their indent totally. Lines B.1-B.4 have lost their indent totally. Also some lines surrounding lines B1-B4 have lost their indent. Other lines (A.1-A.3) and the rest of the document is formatted correctly. Strange behaviour - definetely due to OO 2.0.4 RC 2. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=43833 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Sep 18 09:58:20 -0700 2006 --- I am searching for an another image related issue and encountered to this. With OpenOffice 2.0.3 the file provided by user ntyler was opened with the image visible. However. The file generic_ja.doc provided by user khirano was interesting when testing it. May be user khirano could give more information about images that are attached to the file generic_ja.doc. 1. When opened the file generic_ja.doc in Word 2002 it was similar than in screenshot word2000tcm1.PNG. 2. When opened the file generic_ja.doc in OpenOffice 2.0.3 both images were visible. 3. Image problem confirmed as FIXED, no disappearing images. BUT. 4. Interesting issues arised when the file generic_ja.doc was opened in OpenOffice 2.0.3 5. BUT the text under the right-side picture is moved to the left side to the right-side picture. 6. AND there is that empty space on the right side of the table. == screenshot B1.PNG When comparing screenhots B1.PNG and word2000tcm1.PNG you can see the difference. AND MORE... 7. FILE = Preview (in OO) == screenshot B2.PNG 8. Where are both pictures when in preview mode ? 9. The text is still positioned differently than in Word 2002. TO make it more confusing... 10. The file Image bug report.doc provided by user ntyler showed the image both in normal mode and in preview mode. 11. I went though my own .doc-documents with images and could not confirm that unvisibility of images in preview mode to happen with every picture. 12. - strange anyway. The tabstops are really lost from some lines when opened in OpenOffice 2.0.3. And tabstops ARE visible when opened in Word 2002. I don´t know in which program the original file _MALLI_YRITYS.RTF is made. It was copied from one CD containing these (Finnish) model legal documents, print year is 1999. But then the RTF-format used must be from year 1999. I don´t know about the versions of the RTF standard. Anyway. It seems to be some kind of problem in IMPORTING of tabstops from RTF files. Your (yozhhh) problem is with EXPORTING tabstops to RTF-file from OO. Hmm... I have some RTF-files from year 1998 or before. I could test importing those older files to OO 2.0.3 and check how tabstops are handled then. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I am hunting -again- for an another issue and encountered to this. I was interested to test how this picture in table -issue could be in header. Then there is two ways of adding pictures in Word. I tested those ways to add picture to table and checked the result in OO. 0. COPY picture from wordsaved.RTF to clibboard, keep it there during phases 1-18. 1. Open Word 2002 2. View = Header and Footer 3. add 2x2 table to header 4. add one picture to table (EDIT = PASTE) 5. add one picture to table (EDIT = PASTE SPECIAL = PICTURE) = screenshot in_Word.PNG 6. Save as KOE.rtf 7. close KOE.rtf in Word 2002 8. Open KOE.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 = screenshot in_OpenOffice.PNG 9. And there you have it: both pictures are dublicated, the way of adding them in Word does not affect how they shown in header. 10. SO - REPEATABLE with even simpler table. I continued the test and added this time the pictures to the body of document, NOT in header This is more like the original test. 11. Open Word 2002 12. add 2x2 table 13. add one picture to table (EDIT = PASTE) 14. add one picture to table (EDIT = PASTE SPECIAL = PICTURE) = screenshot comparison_in_Word.PNG 15. Save as VERTAILU.rtf 16. close VERTAILU.rtf in Word 2002 17. Open VERTAILU.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 = screenshot comparison_in_OpenOffice.PNG 18. And there you have it: both pictures are dublicated, the way of adding them in Word does not affect how they shown in. The main thing is to add the picture from wordsaved.RTF somehow inside a table. Maybe user xaliger could give some information about the picture that is added to wordsaved.RTF? I tried to repeat this test with other pictures but then I did not get the dublication of picture repeated. Is it somehow related to the type of picture? [sw-issues] [Issue 60831] RTF: very oftengraphics ar e lost on export
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=60831 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Sep 13 03:56:32 -0700 2006 --- So, after some discussion issue 69447 is dublicate of issue 60831 (this) OK. I tried to hunt this from other issues in database. I checked issues 16781, 3790, 12713, 23842, 10084, 53816, 10084, 20894, 34927 and 43833 after database queries. Issue 53816 seemed to be closest but it is not. After saving in OpenOffice 2.0.3 as RTF-format the picture/image is missing both in OO and Word. The problem was to repeat this bug. I could repeat it two times and managed to get some screenshots. Since it is hard to repeate, I consider it to be P4. I presume that a normal user does not encounter this problem very often then. However there are attached files which have the pictures missing. Someone could check those files. That was introduction. The precise test case. Simple picture in Word 2002 and in OpenOffice 2.0.3 1. create picture in other program, copy picture to clipboard 2. open OpenOffice 2.0.3 3. create new text document 4. add some enters to the document, and some sample text 5. paste picture to one enter line 6. move picture the right, very close to the right edge of the page 7. paste picture into to the middle of text 8. move picture to the right, very close to the right edge of the page, keep it still in the middle of text 9. save this document in RTF format (check TEST__1__phase_1.pdf) (check TEST__2__PHASE_1.pdf) (TEST__2__PHASE_1.PNG) (TEST__2__PHASE_1.rtf) 10. close document 11. Now comes the tricky part, since this seems to be somewhat randomized feature 12. I have repeated this few times, and as proof I have added screenshots and PDF exports 14. To convince you I have added material from both original TEST 1 and repeat TEST 2 15. NOT SO NICE: SOMETIMES BUT NOT ALWAYS ONE PICTURE IS DISAPPEARED OR BOTH PICTURES ARE DISAPPEARED 16. This was hard to repeate third time - I tried some 20 times to get results from repeat tests 17. I tried to isolate the steps needed more specificly - this seems to be quite random though 18. BTW: this is testers nightmare, you have proofs from two testcases, but the repetition is very hard 19. I opened the RTF-files first in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 20. YES, YES and YES: I speficly DID NOT save them again in Word 2002 (open file TEST__1__phase_2.rtf) (TEST__1__phase_3.PNG is screenshot from Word 2002 ) (TEST__1__phase_4.PNG is screenshot from Word 2002) (TEST__2__PHASE_2.PNG is screenshot from Word 2002) (TEST__2__PHASE_2.rtf is 22. Close Word 2002, don´t save anything 21. to validate this I opened in OpenOffice 2.0.3 (open file TEST__1__phase_2.rtf) (TEST__1__phase_5.pdf) (TEST__1__phase_6.PNG) (TEST__2__PHASE_3.pdf) (TEST__2__PHASE_3.PNG) 22. and there it is: pictures are disappeared also in OpenOffice 2.0.3 23. Both programs indicated that pictures were not seen for some reason 24. Well, anyway, THIS IS DUE TO OpenOffice 2.0.3 (cannot blame MS this time) 25: Very very hard to repeat - UNREPEATABLE - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The test. 1. I opened that hr_temp_register1.rtf in Word 2002. 2. It was seen in one page. 3. I closed hr_temp_register1.rtf 4. I opened that hr_temp_register1.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3. 5. hr_temp_register1.rtf was separated to two pages in OpenOffice 2.0.3. However, I put mouse to position which is shown in screenshot (IN_WORD.PNG) of hr_temp_register1.rtf opened in Word 2002. There was something shown when cursor was above it (a cross - I think). The layout of the document was totally different in OpenOffice 2.0.3 and in Word 2002. Interesting - very interesting. To be precise: what I used - WIN XP Professional version 2002 SP 2 + updates - OpenOffice 2.0.3 OOC680_m7 Build 1 (Tue Jun 29 16;19;13 CEDT 2006) (Finnish version) - OpenOffice Finnish proofreader: oo2-soikko-Windows-1.1.1.exe - Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 (English version) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Confirmed as repeatable. However. I have more complex example related to tabstops. Open the file _MALLI_YRITYS.RTF. I have screenshot made tabulators_in_OO.PNG where I have describe the unwanted behaviour. There are those three tabstops, and for some reason OO puts those three tabulators over that one tabstop. The file _MALLI_YRITYS.RTF was seen in right format in Word 2002. The text in the file _MALLI_YRITYS.RTF is based on standard of Finnish Standards Association SFS and there is specificly definitions how text should be visible, saved and printed. CONFIRMED as REPEATABLE. RTF-import/export problems repeated when opened and saved in OpenOffice 2.0.3 This testcase was quite easily repeated. tested chains: 1. (a.IMPORT RTF to OO - b.check visually) 2. (a.IMPORT RTF to OO - b.Save RTF in OO - c.close RTF - d.Open RTF in other program) 3. (a.IMPORT RTF to OO - b.Save RTF in OO - c.close RTF - d.Open RTF again in OO) 4. (a.IMPORT RTF to OO - b.Save ODT in OO - c.close ODT - d.Open ODT again in OO) I tested this with both files of mfedyk (RAH_matthew.rtf, REG_NOT_LET.rtf). HOWEVER: There is clear difference when doing 3.c-d. and 4.c-d. with these original files. I can provide specific output files and screenshots if asked. SO. CONFIRMED as REPEATABLE. There is difference in saving ODT and RTF - so the visual result is different. BTW: issues 60831, 49087, 67292, 31621, 53816 cover some other RTF-problems. Confirmed as REPEATABLE, used OpenOffice 2.0.3 and Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3. Here I suppose that I am using different version of Word than user omvsj. HOWEVER: It seeemed to me that in the test of the user omvsj phase 2.g. the sample2.rtf Opened in OpenOffice 2.0.3 is was not garbished. It was an empty document with one enter. This seems not be corrected in OpenOffice 2.0.3 since it was in OOo 2.0.3 RC6 as the user pjanik has indicated. However that test description in not precise so I cannot verify this. Well, anyway, I continue hunting that another issue from database. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 69447] RTF: after save in OO the picture/image is missing in OO and Word
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=69447 Issue #|69447 Summary|RTF: after save in OO the picture/image is missing in |OO and Word Component|Word processor Version|OOo 2.0.3 Platform|PC URL| OS/Version|Windows XP Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P4 Subcomponent|save-export Assigned to|mru Reported by|tmjura --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Sep 11 02:31:18 -0700 2006 --- I tried to hunt this from other issues in database. I checked issues 16781, 3790, 12713, 23842, 10084, 53816, 10084, 20894, 34927 and 43833 after database queries. Issue 53816 seemed to be closest but it is not. So, it is a new issue. The precise test case is next. If this is assigned to wrong issue, please assign forward to right issue It is this size of RTF pictures issue again. This time I have more files and screenshots. And the test is specficly related to this issue, not just a random quick test. IT OCCURRED AGAIN - IS IT REPEATABLE OR UNREPEATABLE?? YESTERDAY IT DID NOT OCCUR EVEN I TRIED = THIS IS CREATION document 1.rtf 1. create picture in other program, copy to clipboard 2. open Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 3. New text document 4. add enough enters 5. Add sample text to the document 6. move cursor to a line where there is no text 7. adding picture: EDIT = Paste special = Picture 8. save document as RTF 9. close Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 = THAT WAS CREATION document 1.rtf THE TEST 1. Open document 1.rtf in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 (screenshot 1.png) 2. close Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 3. Open document 1.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 4. Save document as 3.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 5. add two pictures in OpenOffice 2.0.3. - another into the enter line - another into the middle of sample text (screenshot 5.png) 6. Notice that the added pictures in OpenOffice 2.0.3 are moved with arrow keys, not dragged and dropped with mouse 7. Now comes the tricky part == Yesterday I tried to repeat test many times to get result in phase 13 8. The picture added in OpenOffice 2.0.3. had to be exactly in right position to reproduce this in repeat test = screenshot 8.png - the right edges of the pictures are in position 17 as can be seen in screenshot 8.png - I don´t know the translation of that grey line in position 15 - but it was produced with two right arrow key pressing - a. one step over that line in position 15 - b. then second step over that line in position 15 TO position 17 9. Save document as 3.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 10. close document as 3.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 11. open 3.rtf in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 = screenshot 11.png 12. WHERE are pictures added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 ?? 13. AHA - they are lurking there very miniatyrised 14. Can be resized to some size = screenshot 14.png 15. Resize pictures HERE IS THE PROBLEM - REPETITION OF PHASES OF 8 TO 15 IS SOMEHOW RANDOMIZED - you should define VERY, VERY, VERY detailed description what you did - that may be impossible to human since you should describe even more detailed way I am used to QUESTION: IS IT RELATED TO POSITION OF PICTURES CREATED IN OpenOffice 2.0.3 ? = MAKE A SEPARATE TEST OF THAT Separate test 16. close Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 17. NO, NO and NO: I specificly DID NOT save anything in Word 2002 (10.6802. 6735) SP 3 18. Open document 3.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 19. Save document as 19.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 20. Move pictures added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 = screenshot 20.png - the right edges of the pictures are in position 16 as can be seen in screenshot 20.png - but it was produced with one left arrow key pressing - one step from position 17 to 16 21. Save document as 19.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 22. close document 19.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 23. Open document 19.rtf in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 24. Pictures added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 are lurking there very miniatyrised = check that same position as in screenshot 14.png 22. close document 19.rtf in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 23. NO, NO and NO: I specificly DID NOT save anything in Word 2002 (10.6802. 6735) SP 3 24. Open document 19.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 25. Save document as 25.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 26. Move pictures added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 = screenshot 26.png - the right edges of the pictures are NEAR position 15 as can be seen in screenshot 26.png - but it was produced with one left arrow key pressing - one step from position 16 to to that near position 15 - put is NOT moved to position 15 - SEE THE DIFFERENCE 27. Save document as 25.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 28. close document 25.rtf in OpenOffice 2.0.3 29. Open document 25.rtf in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 30. Pictures added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 are lurking there very miniatyrised = check that same position as in screenshot 14.png OK - I think this is enough repetition. It is not related to the position of pictures in OpenOffice 2.0.3. Phases 9-30 confirm that moving the pictures in OpenOffice 2.0.3. does not change the position or size of pictures in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 QUESTIONS ARISING - which of the programs is not following RTF standard ?? - how it is possible that in some position the picture added in OpenOffice 2.0. 3. is SEEN OR NOT SEEN in normal size in Word 2002 ?? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Please be patient and try to answer this. I made some black-box testing and so I don´t know the internals of OO. 60831 is interesting though. I have commented that also as you propably have seen. 60831 was IMPORT RTF - Change - Save RTF - OPEN in different program. I have isolated that chain in other issues: 49087 especially. The chain I have in mind here is following: - Open OO - Copy picture from other program - paste picture in OO - Save RTF (Export) - OPEN in different program. Is export and import handled in the same module ? If they are handled in the same module I accept your judgement. To my mind you take care that OO will export RTF by standards. Import of corrupted RTFs is another issue propably. Anyway. YES - I try to see your point. Please be patient and try to answer this. I made even simpler test case this time. User mba was wondering if this only related to the file sended by sherter. I can verify with my files that this is not related to that file. The amount of sections seems not affect. But in every second section header and footer is not visible. There was some discussion that should this issue be handled in version 3. According to my experiences RTF is quite widely used format and this issue should be corrected as soon as possible. Of course you have lot to do and there is priorities - so that is up to you. The test CREATE simple RTF - no bells and whistles 1. new document with Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 (English version) 2. VIEW = Header and Footer 3. Add text to Header and Footer 4. INSERT = Break = Section break types = Next Page 5. Repeat previous phase 6 times, and you have 6 sections separated 6. save this as document as RTF_from_word.rtf Section 1: OK, HEADER VISIBLE, FOOTER VISIBLE Section 2: OK, HEADER VISIBLE, FOOTER VISIBLE Section 3: OK, HEADER VISIBLE, FOOTER VISIBLE Section 4: OK, HEADER VISIBLE, FOOTER VISIBLE Section 5: OK, HEADER VISIBLE, FOOTER VISIBLE Section 6: OK, HEADER VISIBLE, FOOTER VISIBLE 7. close RTF_from_word.rtf CREATED simple RTF - no bells and whistles 8. If this is assigned to wrong issue, please assign forward to right issue I happened to run into this when doing another test with RTF format. This is from my test log. = SEPARATE , ISOLATE LATER, GO TO BACK 20, REPEAT 20A. NOT SO NICE: - the picture added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 can be dragged into the middle of text - when saved in OpenOffice 2.0.3 and opened again in Word 2002, somehow the picture added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 seems to be disappeared - after thorough lookup, the picture added and dragged can be found - it is minimised to miniatyre size, but it is hardly visible in Word 2002 - position of the dragged and dropped picture added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 is seems to be totally different when watched in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 = Saved test.rtf == when whatched with Word 2002 the miniatyrised picture is lurking just before number 6. = CONTINUE 20A, step by step, try to repeat - is this also unrepeatable?? Simple picture in Word 2002 and in OpenOffice 2.0.3 1. create picture in other program, copy to clipboard 2. open Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 3. New text document 4. add enough enters 5. Add sample text to the document 6. move cursor to a line where there is no text 7. adding picture: EDIT = Paste special = Picture 8. save document as RTF 9. close Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 10. Open OpenOffice 2.0.3 11. Open RTF-file 12. drag and drop the picture into the sample text 13. save document as RTF 14. Close OpenOffice 2.0.3 15. open Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 16. Open RTF-file 17. NOT SO NICE: this is very hard to repeat - UNREPEATABLE. I repeated phases 1-16 many times - I swear - but I could not repeat as it was in phase 20A in the main test tree. It seems that it is somehow related to the position of the picture. Normally the picture added to RTF file in OpenOffice is only in wrong place in Microsoft Word 2002. This shrinking seems to be a randomised feature. Well. You cannot win always. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
