thanks to Vithur, I was able to find a professional software to remove the vocals. and the result was terrific. it removed just the vocals leaving 95% of the BG intact. so here it is. I have uploaded Munbe Vaa and Ellapugazhum . the latter turned out really well. You might need to increase ur speaker volume a bit more than normal because I intentionally reduced the master volume to avoid distortions. I remember him saying in one interview that he misses rafi jee's voice the most... Raghu, While I agree that rahman has not used SPB as well as he did pre 2000 there some classics in the post 2000 period you missed out - a few that came to my mind 1. Swasame Swasame - thennali 2. Enthan vannil kadhal nilave - Kadhal Virus 3. Azhagana Rakshasiyae - Mudalvan While duet is where ARR unrefutably made the best use of SPB - there were other songs like Minnalae in may madham where the SPB- ARR combo were at the best as well. Hi Vishwesh Thank you for posting a bit of the interview. How old is this interview and who interviwed ARR? I have always wondered how fantastic it would have been if ARR would have worked with Rafi. However, we still have Manna Dey and Mohinder Kapoor but they have not worked with him. Rafi would also have been nearly as old or older and perhaps his voice may have changed by now but it is good to know that ARR remembers Rafi. To answer your question of whether I am a Rafi fan - the answer is YES MOST DEFINITELY. I grew up listening to his songs and still do from time to time. I don't think that he will ever be replaced. He had four sons (not sure) but none of them followed in his foot steps and of what I heard recently was that Rafi's bunglow in Bombay was also demolished instead of turning it into a place to remember him like a meusem or visitors place. Personally we lost music history. Very sad but true. I am glad that ARR is making a music institution to keep alive his dream and works. Are you a Rafi fan too? I've been watching this bhimpalasi performance at http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=D3crM16vFOI , and I'm strongly reminded of a passage or phrase from some Rahman song, in particular by the playing between 5:40-5:50. But no amount of brain-racking has yielded the song in question. I'm aware that Rahman's Ae Ajnabee (Dil Se) and Kismat Se (from Pukar) are largely composed in Bhimpalasi, but I am not finding the notes that I'm looking for in these songs.
