Not sure what day's edition of Times of India , but Chetan Bhagat in one
of his interviews mentions that AR had warned him to keep one foot in Bollywood
and the other out of it. And that he always follows this. FYI.

Re: [arr] Blue Telugu

2010-01-03 Thread theepr
dear gopal
thanx 4 ur msg.
My point is this Arr's Music should reach all his music lovers in a proper way
that any one affordable to get Legally. otherwise it may mislead to a one to
own a pirated copy.
i could demonstrate one example:
--
Blue -Telugu Digital download is $6.23. so due to today's currency rate its
cost me 712.525 LKR. keep in mind this is not even a full quality release (mp3).
If same available in Audio CD its only cost me 600.00 LKR also keep in mind
that is a Full Quality Audio (not mp3).
so what this speaks? will I be motivated to buy an Digital ver.
obviously not.
==
that is all about it..

I didn't quite get how you plan to threaten AR's privacy but the rest of the

does not bestow the license to steal. But that's quite beside the point.
It's not like any of us don't download the music anyway - it's just a
business decision that the producers are making - the cost of producing and
distributing a CD revenues from selling them The pirated mp3s will get
downloaded regardless, just that in this scenario, the producers lose less
money. All of a. quality of digital music b. worldwide accessibility to
digital distribution mediums like Amazon and c. the diversity of such
options will only improve with time for those, like you, that have the noble
intent of putting your hard earned money behind the creative work. The
interim will dissatisfy many but you just have to live with it - after all
this is the music 'business', that's the operative word.

Hitting the high notes
*The Mirror Magazine talks to Dinesh Subasinghe about his progress in the
music industry, his new award and working under A. R. Rahman* *By Adilah
Ismail*

“I have no words,” says Dinesh Subasinghe. “I can’t explain it. It’s been
amazing” he says simply, speaking about his experiences studying under
musical maestro A.R. Rahman.

Dinesh is well on his way to carving his niche as an artiste. Having secured
a place at the music academy run by A.R. Rahman and with a number of
achievements under his belt, it is clear that this young musician will be
one to watch in the years to come.
   Dinesh with his award

In the process of studying various aspects of music, such as music history,
theory, conducting and audio technology under reputed teachers, Dinesh’s
love for music constantly fuels him and urges him to set his standards
higher.

“I love music and I don’t like to generalize,” says Dinesh explaining that
his style of music fluctuates from rock, folk, classical and pop as opposed
to limiting himself to one genre in particular.

Dinesh, who recently received an award at the SIGNIS (OCIC) awards ceremony
as best music director for the teledrama ‘Siri Sirimal’ directed by Sunil
Costa, explained that while studying at the academy he continues his
commercial work as a full time musician. “We work and study from 8 a.m – 8
p.m at the academy. It is only after 9 in the night, that we do all our
other work,” he explained.

Dinesh is the first Sri Lankan member invited to join the South Indian Cine
Musicians Union, and remains humbled by this accomplishment. Having composed
music for ‘Sundarai Premaya’, an upcoming teledrama directed by
Chandrarathna Mapitigama, Dinesh, speaking to the Mirror Magazine, explained
that compositions for more teledramas and movies can be expected in the near
future.
Dinesh remains modest about his many achievements, insisting that none of it
would be possible if not for the encouragement and assistance received from
numerous people who supported him in his endeavours.

Six months into his musical education in India at the popular K. M. Music
Conservatory in Chennai, Dinesh has no qualms about following his passion
and doing what he loves.

And what plans for the future? “I have an idea to work in both countries and
I have plans to start a musical band,” says the young musician.

Dome in Doha on January 8 and historic Parramatta Park outside Sydney on
January 16. The two-and-a-half hour outdoor concert in Australia will be free
for the public where the organisers have described it as ‘a night like no
other’. These shows are claimed to be audiovisual spectacle involving
 pyrotechnics and lighting.
Rahman, who has reportedly recorded sales of over 300 million, was called
‘Mozart of Madras’' by Time magazine. Rahman sees music ‘as a way to connect
to spirituality and embrace it’ and for ‘creating harmony in troubled times’.

[arr] Radio Mirchi's Top songs of 2009

It’s been a great year for music! Capping the year at pole position on the
Radio Mirchi Top 100 Year End Special,is the top song of 2009 Chor

Bazaari from Love Aaj Kal — which spent a whopping 25 weeks on the Mirchi Top
20.

At a close second, having spent a healthy 34 weeks on the chart, is the
inimitable Masakalli from the box office turkey that was Delhi 6, proof that a
good tune can stand on its own feet if it connects with the public. SRK’s Haule
Haule from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which spent 40 weeks on the chart, is a
justified No. 3. While the shout-along anthem of 2009, Jai Ho from Slumdog
Millionaire, makes it to the No. 4 spot with 40 weeks too on the chart; and
Dhan Te Nan from Kaminey, which created a buzz and sustained a 24-week run,
ends up at No. 5. For more on this hot list, turn to our music page.

Going by the Mirchi Top 20 every week over 2009, it really seems that Delhi 6
was the most popular film with about six entries on the charts. Moreover, it
also seems like a good melody has been the common thread running through the
songs last year, and it looks like the same will happen this year too.
Importantly, the Mirchi countdown is one of the oldest and most respected music
charts in the country and is seen as the gold standard for the industry. This
countdown represents the musical tastes of the entire country, not just of a
single radio channel.

Hitmaker Pritam, excited by his lead position on the Radio Mirchi Top 100 Year
End Special, said, “The year was exceptionally good for me, my songs from Love
Aaj Kal, Tum Mile, Ajab Prem.. and Billu were all loved by listeners. Apart
from Chor Bazaari, the Mirchi Top 100 features many of my other songs. It is
one of the oldest, most authentic and looked forward to countdowns on radio.”
Love Aaj Kal’s director Imtiaz Ali, added, “It’s fantastic to know that Chor
Bazaari is the No. 1 song.. You don’t know the popularity of your song until
something like this happens.”

Known for his nuanced lyrics, Prasoon Joshi, whose Masakalli weighed in at No.
2, remarked, “This is proof of the immense popularity of melodious songs as
Radio Mirchi reaches out to the maximum number of listeners all over India.”
Sukhwinder Singh (whose Jai Ho has two Grammy nominations) has three songs on
the Mirchi Top 100 and said, “Haule Haule is by far the most romantic song I
have sung. Jai Ho, too, was very special, it was all about celebration. A.R.
Rehman and I have made a winning combination right from our Chaiyya Chaiyya
days. But I never expected Dhan Te Nan to become the kind of hit that it did.”
Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan is also all praise for this track. “Dhan Te
Nan is fit to be a part of the Top 5 songs in the Mirchi Top 100. It took the
nation by storm and what a cult song it turned out to be,” he said. The actor’s
best buddy Karan Johar said he was “thrilled that songs from Wake Up Sid and
Kurbaan are a part of the Mirchi Top 100 countdown. “Shankar Ehsaan Loy have
made super music this year,” said the filmmaker.

And let’s not forget the upcoming Amit Trivedi who won critical and commercial
acclaim for the songs of Dev D and Iktara and his ‘alternative’ sound. As an
extension of its dominance in the music space, Radio Mirchi also does the
annual ‘Mirchi Music Awards’ which is equivalent to the Indian Grammies and is
clearly one of the most coveted music awards in India.. Tune in and watch this
space for further announcements.

Yaar Teri Bewafaai'
Yaar teri bewafaai ka humko zara sa gham nahin
Yahan tere se haseen, tere se jawaan kam nahin
Tu nahin mila, koi aur mil gaya
Dil nahin khila, par dard khil gaya
Aur kuch bhi sochte hai hum nahin
Yaar teri bewafaai ka humko zara sa gham nahin
Yahan tere se haseen, tere se jawaan kam nahin
Tu nahin mila, koi aur mil gaya
Dil nahin khila, par dard khil gaya
Tu hai anjaan, hum anjaan nahin

(Tujhko mubaarak ho, yeh naya naya pyaar tera
Inse milo yeh mere naye dildaar) - 2
Shikwa kare naa shikaayat kare
Chalo hum apni apni mohabbat kare
Voh hi samaa par voh mausam nahin
Ab voh tum nahin, ab voh hum nahin
Yaar teri bewafaai ka humko zara sa gham nahin
Yahan tere se haseen, tere se jawaan kam nahin
Tu nahin mila, koi aur mil gaya
Dil nahin khila, par dard khil gaya
Pyaar sholaa hi hai, shabnam nahin

(Humne bhi tod di kasmon ko, vaadon ko
Bhool gaye hum bhi teri sab yaadon ko) - 2
Tune yeh dil aise tod diya
Lekin humne bhi haath tera chhod diya
Tu hai udaas, pareshaan hum nahin
Tere jaise anjaan nadaan hum nahin
Yaar teri bewafaai ka humko zara sa gham nahin
Yahan tere se haseen, tere se jawaan kam nahin
Tu nahin mila, koi aur mil gaya
Dil nahin khila, par dard khil gaya
Pyaar sholaa hi hai, shabnam nahin

well, I'm not countering YOUR list :) but since you mentioned you had a bias
for classical based, I thought Rythm is missing in the list. My List would
have BOSE too. - most of the themes are western classical - orchestra based.

And one standout 'song' that I always use for relaxation peace is Naina -
Water.

Sony and Rahman- A great ComboBy Moviebuzz  | Monday, 04 January , 2010, 09:27
Sony Music has bagged the music rights of A R Rahman's next two big project in
South India- Gautham Menon’s Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya (VTV) in Tamil and Telugu
and SJ Surya’sPuli with Pawan Kalyan and Nikisha Patel in Telugu.Widening its
regional portfolio, Sony would also release the music of Rajnikanth
starrerSivaji – The Boss in Hindi.Divulging the marketing plans for the
project, Sony Music Southern Repertoire head Ashok Parwani says: We intend to
make Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya a crossover album as we believe A R Rahman as a
brand and this music has the power to transcend language and regional barriers.
We will service the song videos to all leading music channels – Tamil and
National as AR Rahman has a universal reach”.Remember the music of VTV was
previewed at the Bafta Awards with much fanfare.Added Parwani: “ Apart from
servicing of songs on the radio and the web, we have a lot of on-ground and
retail level innovations planned out
in the form of road shows, special contests with instant gratifications, meet
and greet with the cast and crew. On the digital and mobile front, we have a
lot of innovations planned including the iPhone application – which will be a
global first for Sony Music India.
