of ARR as there can be no limitations to the love and affection that each and
every one of us have for ARR and his music. And you're right again when you say
that ARR's music is what unites all of us.

We, who live in different parts of the worldwe who hail from different
backgrounds, ideology, religion & culture seem to have one thing in common. The
love for ARR and his magical world of music.

May ARR and his music continue to unite all of us. May humanity, compassion and
love continue to rule our hearts just as ARR's music does. And may more genuine

Did anyone notice the changes in ARR's wedding songs in films for the
past 1 decade???
starting from Mangalyam(Alaipayut hey)
   Kummi Adi (Sillindru Oru Kadhal)
   Maduraiku (ATM)
 and now  Anbil Avan (VTV)
I really like the way nadaswaram used in that song But after continuous
listening... now i'm wondering is it really from a nadaswaram.. .Can anyone
clear my doubt???

[arr] Where to order VTV CD?

2010-01-14 Thread Rivjot
Since amazon is gonna take ages, any other site where I can order VTV CD? I
know website - anytamil.com but they also take ages to deliver (last time they
took more than 4 weeks to deliever CDs that I ordered, plus their CDs were not
new.. they sent all the used ones).
It is EXTREMELY sad that there are no websites / online webstores to order
Tamil CDs.. I am still missing several old Tamil CDs of Rahman and would love
to buy them... just that I dont know from where to buy them (hopefully ARR
website will have them in future). In contrast, there are so many websites to
buy Hindi CDs.. obvious because of larger audience I guess.

I was searching google and I typed "Vinnaithandi Varuvayaa CD" and nothing
showed up. Google suggested searches were -
"Vinnaithandi Varuvaya mp3 download"
"Vinnaithandi Varuvaya free download"
"Vinnaithandi Varuvaya mp3 torrent"

sad.. very sad!

Any kind soul in India willing to buy CD and send me by quick delivery method?
I will cover the cost of postage as well, and can make payment by paypal.

The one thing that I instantly liked in Mannipayaa is when the kural starts!
Took me to another level...Everybody in Tamilnadu love Thirukkural so much
because it teaches you the good principles of life in just one and a half
line...Wish AR continues to do more on Thirukkural!

I seriously wish my message here either reaches ARR or Gautham. VTV album is
such a quality album, i want more of this combo to keep on working to
continuously in order to give us quality and rocking songs like in VTV. Gautham
is a director who have ears for wonderful music. ARR needs people like him to
allow more innovations to be done in Tamil Music Industry. And only ARR is
capable to give us another revolutionary album.

[arr] India, Oz should 'redefine friendship': Rahman

2010-01-14 Thread Vithur
Two time Oscar award winner AR Rahman is all set to perform in Sydney after
a gap of five years but this comes at a time when Australia has been in the
newsfor
all the wrong reasons.

In an exclusive
chatwith
NDTV's Rohit Bhan, the Mozart of Madras says that his
concertin
Sydney will redefine the friendship again".

*NDTV*: This event has happened at a time when there are so many
uncomfortable things happening in Australia, how do you weigh it?

*Rahman*: For me it is a historic event because of two things on the
positive side. Firstly Australia has been very kind to me, my song
*Jai Ho*became number one here (Australia) also I have had a great
audience in
Melbourne and Sydney last year. Now this concert has to redefine the
friendship again so I haven t given any
interviewsabout
the racial killing as everything has been painted in the same brush.

There were racial killings but there were other kinds of killings as well
but everything get packaged in one kind, which is very dangerous. So, it is
important to get on with the future with a positive mind. This concert is
the first step in that direction. The Australian government is supporting
it, I hope the people support it too.

*NDTV*: This event is also being held to promote cultural harmony and better
understanding of the Indian community, through your
music,
through your performance. To what extent will you be able to take it
forward?

*Rahman*: A concert is an event where all communities come together. I want
people to blog and send messages which I think should help clear out
misunderstandings.

*NDTV*: Apart from your show there will be other folk bands. So, do you
think Indian
musichas
achieved that level where it is being recognised globally?

*Rahman*: Indian
musichas
got a wealth of stuff and there is not even one per cent that has come
out. So, I am sure that in the future people will enjoy much more than this,
we are all a very small part of it.

*NDTV*: There have been unpleasant exchanges between members from both the
countries over the incidences which have happened in Australia, do you have
any message for them?

*Rahman*: As I said don t worsen the situation, don t fight over the past,
forgive the past, let s heal that and go on with the future in a positive
way.

Indiahas
meanwhile asked Australia to take immediate steps to curb violence
against its citizens there, warning that recent attacks could affect
relations between the two countries. The violence has caused an uproar in
India, which has millions of citizens working and studying abroad.

I sent them complaint e-mail. They said they havnt recieved the CDs from the
distributor thats why there is delay in shipment. They gave me $ 10 credit on
my next order.. but I want to have CD in my hands asap (there are no Tamil
audio / video stores in my country). Though I have the songs from iTunes, I
always feel I can be listening to some better quality.

It didnt happen with Couples Retreat though. If I recall CR soundtrack supposed
to be released on 6th October and I had it on pre-order.. and I recieved it
very next day. May be this one (VTV) is Indian release.. and they are waiting

[arr] "The soundtrack of VTV is quirky"

2010-01-14 Thread Indmov Buff
That is what Rahman had to say about it. And I couldn't agree more! You won't
get your conventional tamil tracks in this soundtrack. No particular order to
the stanzas. No regular charanams. It may not be the bestselling soundtrack of
all times but it certainly is a trendsetter. We have to give that to Rahman and
Gautam. For giving us this quirky and beautiful soundtrack. It raises  the bar
for future soundtracks of tamil movies of this genre ( romantic dramas).

you guys are right about that. Like your concentration on ARR's music. :)

I feel a voice initiation from the left ear to the right ear within a span of
less than a second. I mean an effect like somebody singing near to left ear and
then positioning to both ears.

I have heard that AR records songs in 7 tracks. So when in CD, it's only two
tracks and will feel like an abrupt change. Otherwise the change would have
been gradual.

Just a guess. Not an expert opinion.

Still I feel it's hardly noticeable. :)

AR Rahman Calls for Peace and UnderstandingBy Angela Yorke14 January 2010 @

The award-winning composer, who arrived in Sydney ahead of his concert on
Saturday evening, felt that the media need to be more responsible when
reporting on recent attacks here that appeared to target students from
India.

Having confirmed his place in the Sydney Festival's lineup in August last
year, Rahman specifically requested to perform Parramatta Park. According to
NSW Premier Kristina Keneally, Parramatta Park is home to the largest
population of Indian and south Asian people in Australia.

The composer, who also performs many of his own works, is already very
well-known in the Bollywood movie scene, received two Academy awards last
year for best original song and best original score, which he composed for
2008's Slumdog Millionaire. Described as the "Mozart of Madras" by Time
magazine, Rahman was named one of the magazine's 100 most influential people
of 2009.

Rahman hopes the free concert will be able to "build a bridge of
understanding" and serve as a gesture of goodwill for people from India and
Australia this weekend. The two-hour show will also see performances from
more than 40 performers and artistes.

The composer has fond memories of performing in Australia, citing his 2005
concerts in Melbourne and Sydney as having the "some of his best audiences".
He hopes to be able to promote peace, understanding, love and friendship at
this weekend's show.

CHENANI: Gautham Vasudev Menon’s eight years of dreaming to work with the
Academy Award winner came true with the film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. The
director himself played the role of MC at the audio launch of the film. Much
before the arrival of the stars, the Sathyam Cinemas was filled with
Rahman’s fans to hear his music.

Playback singers Chinmayee, Vijay Prakash, Blaaze, Devan, Karthik and Naresh
Iyer gave a live performance of all the seven songs in the film and the
director himself narrated the situations. And when the visuals of three
songs were screened, the crowd cheered and gave a big round of applause. A R
Rahman officially released the CD and actor Kamal Haasan expressed his
wishes to the whole team. Rahman said, “It was amazing to work with Gautam
and we’ve put in a lot of hard work.” Simbu, who was happy and excited, said
at the launch, “People say I look beautiful in this film but I’m always
beautiful. Thanks to Gautam for making me even more beautiful.” Trisha, the
heroine of the film, was absent on the occasion but her mom was present and
enjoyed the whole evening.

With lyrics by Thaamarai, the film is all set to hit the screens next month.

[arr] Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya and Goa mania takes-off

2010-01-14 Thread A.R.Rajib
*Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya and Goa mania takes-off* - *Richard Mahesh, Sampurn
Media*It looks like Sony BMG has made a great start with 2010 with the big
releases–*Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya* and *Goa*. Both these films had kept
everyone’s expectations on high values for the factors of A R Rahman and
Yuvan Shankar Raja.

*Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya* marks the comeback of A R
Rahman to
Tamil film industry after his Oscar triumph. Apparently, filmmaker Gowtham
Menon has been publicizing the film merely with Rahman’s involvement as the
audio covers carry – ‘From the composer of academy award winning *Slumdog
Millionaire*.' Indeed, he had released the film’s music at London and this
evening, the singers will perform all the songs at Sathyam Cinemas in
Chennai.

Well, with *Goa*, the songs were aired across all radio stations much prior
to the audio launch and literally it raised everyone’s anticipations.

RE: [arr] Relationship with a new ARR album is like an arranged marriage!

2010-01-14 Thread s03g373 s03g373

Nice idea, but I don't like this comparison for the only reason that in
arranged marriage and with our indian culture you don't have any other option
than to force to love the person you married, to adjust things and to change
yourself for suitability.

Please be sure that I don't criticized our culture or arranged marriages, but I
prefer love marriage. With love marriage you know who and what to expect, the
exciting thing in arranged marriage can be the surprise fact, but it can also
be a bad surprise and then it is too late. Being indian and a responsible human
being, we can only continue to accept and force to love the person...

Having said that, I don't like the comparison because when I listen to our boss
new album, I never forced myself to like it. ARR songs are so excellent that
even people who decided to criticize his songs end-up liking it.

Jai ho!

I'm trying to come up with an analogy to our collective relationship with a new
ARR album and I think I found one.

With an arranged marriage, as many of you have probably experienced, you meet
your partner, talk, you try to get to know each other, but it's awkward at
firstyou may have some doubts, fears, and in some cases, you may not like
the person at all. But, over time, once familiarity takes over, and if you give
that person a chance, MOST OF THE TIME, your love for that person will grow,
and grow, based on a deeper understanding and appreciation of the
personunderstanding the finer qualities It's a love not based on
infatuation or artificial traits, but grows gradually under patience and time.

Now, I will make a few word substitutions and try to recreate the same
paragraph.

With a new ARR album, as many of you have probably experienced, you buy
it/download it, listen to it, and try to get to know it better, but it's
awkward at first.you may have some doubts, fears, and in some cases you may

[arr] Penguin to hold reading of Rahman biography

2010-01-14 Thread A.R.Rajib
Reliance Timeout Bangalore, Penguin to hold reading of Rahman biography
 By: RnM Team14 Jan 10 11:52 IST

BANGALORE: Reliance Retail Limited’s books, music, stationery, toys and
gifts format store Reliance Timeout in association with Penguin Books will
hold a book reading of A R Rahman’s unofficial biography – A. R. Rahaman:
The Musical Storm, by author Kamini Mathai in Bangalore this Friday, January
15, 2009. The event will be held at the Reliance Timeout outlet in Bangalore
at 6.30 pm.

This is the second reading of the book – the first one took place a few days
ago at the Reliance Timeout Kochi outlet. These initiatives are meant to
create awareness about the book according to sources in the industry.
Reportedly, the book has primarily been compiled by Mathai, a journalist,
after interacting with quite a few friends, family members, industry
insiders and Rahman. As of now, Reliance Retail has seven Reliance Timeout
outlets in India. Reliance Retail is a 100 percent subsidiary of Reliance
Industries Limited.

I notice a small flaw (I think) in Hosanna. When the singing starts, the
audio starts a fraction of a second late in  the right channel. Is this a

[arr] India, Oz should 'redefine friendship': Rahman

*India, Oz should 'redefine friendship': Rahman*
Rohit Bhan

*Pics*:*Rahman's life in pics
*

Two time Oscar award winner AR Rahman is all set to perform in Sydney after
a gap of five years but this comes at a time when Australia has been in the
news for all the wrong reasons.

In an exclusive chat with NDTV's Rohit Bhan, the Mozart of Madras says that
his concert in Sydney will redefine the friendship again".

*NDTV*: This event has happened at a time when there are so many
uncomfortable things happening in Australia, how do you weigh it?

*Rahman*: For me it is a historic event because of two things on the
positive side. Firstly Australia has been very kind to me, my song
*Jai Ho* became
number one here (Australia) also I have had a great audience in Melbourne
and Sydney last year. Now this concert has to redefine the friendship again
so I haven t given any interviews about the racial killing as everything has
been painted in the same brush.

There were racial killings but there were other kinds of killings as well
but everything get packaged in one kind, which is very dangerous. So, it is
important to get on with the future with a positive mind. This concert is
the first step in that direction. The Australian government is supporting
it, I hope the people support it too.

*NDTV*: This event is also being held to promote cultural harmony and better
understanding of the Indian community, through your music, through your
performance. To what extent will you be able to take it forward?

*Rahman*: A concert is an event where all communities come together. I want
people to blog and send messages which I think should help clear out
misunderstandings.

*NDTV*: Apart from your show there will be other folk bands. So, do you
think Indian music has achieved that level where it is being recognised
globally?

*Rahman*: Indian music has got a wealth of stuff and there is not even one
per cent that has come out. So, I am sure that in the future people will
enjoy much more than this, we are all a very small part of it.

*NDTV*: There have been unpleasant exchanges between members from both the
countries over the incidences which have happened in Australia, do you have
any message for them?

*Rahman*: As I said don t worsen the situation, don t fight over the past,
forgive the past, let s heal that and go on with the future in a positive
way.

India has meanwhile asked Australia to take immediate steps to curb violence
against its citizens there, warning that recent attacks could affect
relations between the two countries. The violence has caused an uproar in
India, which has millions of citizens working and studying abroad.

I notice a small flaw (I think) in Hosanna. When the singing starts, the audio
starts a fraction of a second late in  the right channel. Is this a mistake or
something? I bought original CD.

[arr] Re: Rahman concert aims to heal Aust-Indian relations

2010-01-14 Thread dreamers_in
Although this is a great step towards cultural bonding being a free concert can
very well be its undoing. it would take just a handful of thugs and couple of
racist, lewd remarks to set off a riot in this extremely volatile environment.
I am sure Indians being in such large number would not hesitate to retaliate in
self defence or just for the sake of honour. If god forbid such a thing happens
it will be a mockery of the entire exercise.

I sincerely hope that we have well arranged security here.

[arr] Wedding Songs For The Past Decade by ARR

Did anyone notice the changes in ARR's wedding songs in films for the past 1
decade???
starting from Mangalyam(Alaipayuthey)
   Kummi Adi (Sillindru Oru Kadhal)
   Maduraiku (ATM)
 and now  Anbil Avan (VTV)
I really like the way nadaswaram used in that song But after continuous
listening...now i'm wondering is it really from a nadaswaram...Can anyone clear

gr8 work boss and happy that the message has reached our boss.

frankly when i heard some of the beautiful compositions of rahman in the past
esp.the lyrics which is listenable to e.one without musical instruments
emphasizing on it is taking to us to another level than the musical dominates in
a song.

arr anna should make it a point to understand the lyrics clearly to the
listeners and that itself
create more listeners and others also can understand the work of him without
complaining
that lyrics not understandable.

as his compositions in hindi is very poetic,he should do the same in tamil
music also.

any how vtv songs are rocking

  AR,

If you're reading these posts, I hope you know how much we appreciate what you
have created in VTV, and in all your albums. Many of us don't understand Tamil,
but your music speaks a universl language that goes beyond ALL barriers. It's
music of the heart and we all have a heart. Take any negative reviews you see
out there lightly, as you know your music takes time to warm up, esp. with the
unconventional nature of this album. But, we see the true beauty in these
songs and appreciate the hard work you have put into them, the sincerity,
spiritualism, passion, love, craft, art, delicateness that glows with each
song, not to mention the subtle genius and super intelligence in being able to
compose such novel and original masterpieces with such daringness and
confidence. We bow to you with respect and affection, and your examples of
love, humility, and hard work inspire us everyday. Thank you just doesn't do
justice to how grateful we all are for the
gifts that you keep giving, making our lives so much more beautiful.

With Collective Love,

Your Fans
