[arr] Re: Sukhwinder joins in now!!!

2010-09-03 Thread syed

Well..Sukhwinder is using this opportunity to take revenge on our master coz he
was not taken for the oscar performances..

He must have been waiting for these chances..

He must have forgot that big hits in his career are the ones from the master's
compositions..

Shameless people..does these people know the meaning of the word GRATITUDE..

I just listened to Meherbaan from Ada... & after it finished I immediately

When Meherbaan finishes, I experience some kind of distinct feeling, kind of
heveanly, peaceful feeling [actually I'm unable to describe it properly] & I
want to stay in that for a while... so I have to stop the player before it
starts the next song...

Here are couple of other examples...

1. Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna [longer version] - You won't beleive me when I say
this, but there are few songs which are my all time favorites but which I try
to avoid listening! This is one of them... coz when this song finishes, tears
are rolling down my face freely & at the same time I feel emotionally charged!
& many times, that's it for the evening... no more songs after this one...

2. Inn Lamhon Ke Daman Mein - Not as profound effect as the above one, but this
one gives me different kind of indescribable feeling. At the second last Ishq
Hai Jaise Hawaon Mein [& the flute part after that], I have to stop whatever
I'm doing at that moment, I have to close my eyes & I have to experience it...
Everytime, it makes me do this... & again, no songs for next 30 mins or so...

Few other songs like these are: Chinna Chinna Asai, Meherbaan, Do Kadam, Zikr...

-Vishwesh.

[arr] Tribute

2009-01-14 Thread kalifa syed

Dear All AR Rahman Fans,

Winning GG awards for best original score SDM is a great achievement that too
this is the first time by an Indian (breathtaking). We have to be proud for
this great musician. He is such a single unique force who connects entire India
with his soulful, mesmerising music.

I suggest, when Rahman comes from US (do not know when he comes Chennai or
Mumbai), we have to give him rousing reception from the airport for his
magnificient achievement.

I hope this will be a fitting tribute to this talent musician.

Regards,

Kalifa

ARR 's Interview to Visually Impaired Children - NEW YEAR SPECIAL

Q :-  Sound is our World. What is your opinion about Sound ?

AR :- There are a lot of matters relating to sound ( for sure ) . More than
sight, the feeling to realize, there is something in the heart ( which is
termed as EYE of the Heart) , something spiritual lies within. I believe in it
very much. There is an eye in the mind which is very important. There is a lot
of things in Music, the language, God ( How to say that… he smiles)

Q :-  Which was the first and foremost lyrics for which you composed music ?

AR – I think it was for a Commercial by name " Colour Lab". Apart from that,
after constructing the studio, it was " Deen Isai Maalai", an album, which had
songs like Allah Oh Akbar, Ellam Un Arul Vallamo. For Cinema films, it would be
Chinna Chinna Aasai.

Q :- Pls tell something about what is Music Therapy ?

AR :-  Actually, I don't know much about Music Therapy. There are some melody
songs, and some ragas which calm down our restleness and confusion. But there
are some songs which make us angry… So, it could be the song that we like, a
prayer at times, even an instrument. Sometimes, even a Tambura appears to be a
therapy. At times, the flute also.

Q :- Which is the sound which you like the most ?

AR :- I like the sound of the Rain. Sometimes, when we are in a forest, the
sound of the birds. Sometimes the Tambura sound. So, there is nothing in
particular. It depends on the state of the mind at that moment.

Q :- What is the difference between Indian Classical ( Folk ) music,
International Folk Music, Ancient Folk Music ?

AR :- There will be heart in Folk Music, and not intelligence. That's why,
whatever folk songs we compose, we tend to get attracted towards it. The Hero's
voice becomes very sophisticated, when we add a lot of voices to the song. The
core of melody, the soul and the thought is the same thing. Tamil Nadu Folk,
Andhra Folk, Gujrati Folk, Spanish Folk or Turkish Folk. Spanish Folk has a
magic which is very easy and connects to us very soon.

Q :- What was the feeling that you got , when you composed music for Films like
" KIzhakku Cheemayile" ?

AR :- When we start hearing folk songs, it automatically comes into our system.
When I did Roja and completed it, many had the opinion that I didn't know folk
style and have landed from abroad. So, when I sat with Bharathiraaja Sir and
Vairamuthu Sir, I tried my best to do that movie with difference.

Q :- what do you feel about the Periodic Movies composed by you ?

AR :-  I had composed music for film like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Jodha
Akbar, The Legend of Bhagat Singh. Elizabeth Golden Age. Its more of orchestral
music. It would be suiting the style of music which will suit that era. We have
to guess it that way and compose music.

Q :- Which is the musical instrument which you get involved a lot and play ?

AR :- The Instrument which I mainly play is the Keyboard, Piano. Apart from
that, there is a new Instrument called the Continuum. It would not have the
keys of the Keyboard, but just the front part. We can play the Hindustani
Gamakam, the Carnatic gamakam using the same. Recently, I had bought another
instrument called the Arabian Oudh.

Q :- Which generation of music is your favourite one ?

AR :- Actually, I keep my mind very open. A music which would suit for anytime.
If you take the sixties, we have  the music composed by K.V. Mahadevan, in
North, we have S.D.Burman, R.D. Burman. There are a lot of Keerthanas, and in
Western world, there have been a lot of Great composers. There have been a lot
of things recently happening, which we are not observing properly. We see a lot
of talents happening in youtube. Someone plays a guitar sitting at home, and
that is also good. So, keeping the mind open is my philosophy. Its very
difficult to judge which is good or not.

Q :- What is the speciality about Indian Music ?

AR :- Music can be termed as a reflection of Indian Culture. India 's culture
goes back to 1000 years. So, the roots are in Hindustani, Classical, Carnatic
Music ( According to me )

Q :- Can you talk about Bharathidaasan, Bharathiyar ?

AR :- Sometimes, when we are pushed to a corner or undergo a tortoruous
situation, the best in us come out. Similarly, the Russian symphonies etc.
Bharatiyar and Bharathid

Re: [arr] Do U find those creative percussions missing nowadays in Sir's arrangement?

2008-11-06 Thread Syed Quadri

I fully agree on the poster's comments. May be it is due to relocation of his
lieutenants , such as Siva mani, Naveen and host of other musicians already
made Mumbai as their homes. Even junior sound engineers like Aditya Modi
relocated to Mumbai. Other factors could be immense work load , pressure of
deadlines ( Although  AR never turn in the work on time...watch the recent
interview hosted by NDTV and the trio was playing blame game in front of
millions of audience , that Ghai was expecting a western classical in two
months and AR was due to submit the project for shoot last July ,Gulzar
and Ghai belong to two different schools of thought, etc ,etc ).
it is a fact that , one person can not do things single handed. Gone are
the days when MDs like Naushad, Madan mohan , Ilyaraja  RDB used to oversee all
the departments.  This is the era where Md's like SEL, VS share their work load
as a team and  live  in tinsel town, stay in touch with the best of people in
the industry for PR work. whereby these smart marketing manipulators create
negative publicity for AR and happily belonging to the camps controlling the
industry.

Guys, I want to share my views on this topic. I was listening to
Rahman Sir's classic compositions from Iruvar-Alaypayithey -Bombay,
also "Thiruda Thiruda" numbers & "FIRE" BGMs.
I think the usual charm of tight percussion units in ARR's songs is no
longer existing nowadays. The kind of minute details we used to get in
every beat of it, may it be "humma humma" or "Thee Thee" or a semi-
classical number like "Radha kaise na jale..." is somewhere missing
nowadays. Even this creative percussion were heard in RDB, (Remember
the bike chasing or killing of minister scene ), also a bit of it
in Jodha Akbar (although he relied upon synthesized beats in "Jashn
Bahara").
Does it mean Rahman Sir doesn't involve himself much in every section
of a song, rather leave it to young bloods like Krishna Chetan? At
least I personally felt lack of innovative percussion (using unusual
beats & instruments) in last couple of films like "Jaane
Tu..", "Sakkarakatti" , "ADA" & even in "Yuvraj". In "Yuvraj" also he
uses a lot of techno stuffs as backing beats, which just supports the
song by keeping the rhythm but doesn't increase it's beauty. Well
composed numbers like "Tu hi meri dost" or "Manmohini" or "Dil ka
rishta" has a very repeatative & fully synthesized beat which cud have
been taken care of I think, a full orchestral sound is going side by
side (just think of "Thiruda Thiruda")

Whats ur opinion

Brother, the onus is on you to learn Tamil to understand his lyrics
rather than the other way around. He would probably be least concerned
if couple of people fail to acknowledge his talent.

I am not sure how that would help. There was a naughty line in
"Telephone Manipol" - Nee pogum idathil - aangalai vidamatten , sila
pengalai vidamatten - meaning I will not let men and "some" women come
to places where you go. In Hindi , it was translated to "Teri raahon
mein , koi mard na chodunga, aurat bhi na chodunga" which while
retaining most of the meaning didn't hit the point.

Each language has its idiosynchracies and elements which are unique to
it , which would make sense only in that language.

I have 5 tickets for my family. Now can anyone enlighten about how the
parking scenario is around the Sharjah Cricket stadium? Its ages since I have

on the ticket to take a taxi to the venue. I don’t intend taking a taxi so

RE: [arr] Lata Mangeshkar talking abt ARR

2008-04-11 Thread Syed Adnan Zakir Ali

yeah... i saw the interview on 'DAWN NEWS' channel here in karachi...
Lataji looked very sad and discouraged about the present music scene in
india...she said that the present day composers are forgetting their roots...
at this moment, the host of the program asked her "what about Mr. A R Rahman??"
oh...i was just waiting for that moment...i knew that our boss's name was about
to come very soon..
IT DID!
Lataji replied,"jee haan...lekin Rahman sahab bohot kum films karte
hain...magar un ka kaam bohot acha hota hai.."
("yeah...but Rahman works in very few films...but whatever he does, is very
good")Lataji was talking in hindi throughout the interview...
the host of the show did a great job too...

Today there was an interview of LATA MANGESHKAR ( Which she gave to DON paper
of PAKISTHAN ) in EENADU telugu paper and she talked a lot about her
relationships with PAKISTHANI singers of those times and also today's INDIAN
MUSIC.She said " TOdays' BOLLYWOOD music is nothing before the music of those
days.It offers nothing ".Then she said " ONLY AR RAHMAN IS THE SAVIOUR OF
INDIAN MUSIC THESE DAYS. HE IS EXCEPTIONAL. HE IS DOING MANY NEW THINGS WHICH R
REALLY GOOD. BUT HE IS DOING VERY FEW ALBUMS'.This remark of hers is indeed a
big praise for our LEGEND A R RAHMAN, because a singer who has sung thousands
of songs from past 5 decades feels A R RAHMAN is the only true music director
of this country now.HATTS of to LATAJI to say the FACT openly and HATTS of to
our RAHMAN sir for keeping that WINDERFUL WORK.

important info & clarifications for wrong news etc. with a fair design. Later
you can fine tune with competing design, features, options. No matter whatever
other sites give wrong info, let AOW correct every wrong news & clarify them.
For that A.O.W must get completed atleast 50% soon & spread about its presence
worldwide by a special launch funtion with d help of press. this shall pave way
for other websites to surf AOW & produce news for themselves accordingly.
Another suggestion hereafter ARR's film & non-film albums must carry d URL of
AOW in backside Inlay cards below near info like Recorded at .. or on the
top as Welcome to www.arrahmanworld.net - The Oficial Website of the

  Clarification

There has been considerable speculation that I have been appointed the brand
ambassador for HMV Sa Re Ga Ma, as reported in the media.

While I have agreed to be a part of HMV Sa Re Ga Ma's talent hunt programme,
'Ooh La La La' as one of the judges, my role & responsibility begins and ends
with judging the contestants as part of the jury and providing tips to them
which will help them hone their skills and help them in their endeavour to be
the best.

'Ooh La La La' is a talent hunt for a musical band and the auditions for the
show will be conducted across Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh.

What excites me about this talent hunt format is the challenge for the
participants, which is to compose music and the emphasis on team work wherein
individual effort and creativity will have to be fused to bring out the best in
them.

no one must hv heard. Its a slow paced song. Interestingly, Carry me home has

But the main concern here is how do these guys get the source??? Its a pity...
ARR must see to it that the OST is released. Such work shdnt go unnoticed. Lets

for ARR to deliver the stuff.
This is a topic of concern...

Hi,   Dont want to prolong this thread by replying but would like make something clear here. You mentioned that most hindi MDs have bad things to say about ARR but that may not be true always ..  Lots of MDs have openely praised ARR.Furthermore I don't feel ARR needs approval of any creepy MD or critic for that matter. For me when i hear a MD say bad things about ARR(Its thing of the past now) its like they are feeling very threatened by ARR and they know that they can't do any thing about it musically (they cant even come anywhere close to him in compositions, leave alone challenging him) that they can do nothing but resort to such cheap tricks. neways for me it does not matter which language lyrics he decides to put to his compostions as long as he keeps writing those out of the world compositions. ARR ROCKS in Tamil, Hindi, English and believe it or not in Arabic too. :)

Well i didnt read the full mail .. was on my way down when i read your comments about RDB and I tottaly disagree. The way the music was used was very good and brought out the seriousness of the movie. See, it need not be the case that the Hero of the movie need to lip-Sync each and every song, if thats what you mean by not wasting the song. Songs which run in background can also have a huge impact on the mind of the viewers, and thats what is important. Re: [arr] RE;WAT SAJID KHAN NEEDS TO BLABBER ABT RDB MUSIC

2006-01-23 Thread syed

Hi ,      I dont think any one part of this group or otherwise, who is true blue fan of ARR, would think twice before buying any album of ARR, but this is not true for guys who are not fans of ARR or any other MD as such but buy music based on the opinion of what's HOT nowadays ..  and this is where people like Sajid (though Sajid is not so important in the discussion i believe ) come in.      mostly the public opinion of what's HOT and what's not is based on ..  how many times the song is being played on TV channels ..  are VJs praising it .. and how is it doing on the countdowns ..   though there are exceptions ..  and this opinion does impact sales figures.      and i think that this is the main reason why ...  bunty n bubly and Salaam namaste kind of music does very well sales wise, compared to a Bose or a Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi
( i thought it had some great music)      but just a personal opinion though.      and no offence to BnB and Salaam ... fans ... || V i s h w e s h || <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hii Ashwini,     Have you ever decided to buy an ARR album...depending upon Sajid's comments ??     Regards, Vishwesh.ar_hp03 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hello Everyone, I joined this group a few months ago but have never posted amessage until now. Vishwesh, the listening public is certainly influenced by commentsmade on popular shows. The reason these comments are made is becausethey know that the comments have an effect on people. People who hostshows of their own in the electronic media have the power in them toeither promote or not promote a product, movie, song, politician etc.The drop in sales of ARR's music is there for everyone to see. If thepublic is not made aware of his music it is unlikely that his musicwill generate sales. In this group, we are all fans of ARR's music andwe proactively seek his music. This is not true however for themajority of music listenership in the country. So every positive andnegetive comment and/or promotion matters. Though anecdotal, you willfind the  general listenership parroting comments made by people suchas Sajid Khan on various mailings, forums and living rooms discussions. Just my two
cents.Ashwini" The search is more important than the destination."-A R Rahman. Yahoo! Autos. Looking for a sweet ride? Get pricing, reviews, & more on new and used cars.

Hi Thulasi,It's been a while since I saw Indian.  I'll try to find it and rip, unless AJ already has access to it.  But, here's the thing. let's hope the DVD is done in 5.1 DD surround sound.   Unfortunately, some of Rahman's older movies... I tried Roja and Bombay they are not done in 5.1 and thus voiceless BGM are not possible.  Regards, Wasim.Thulasi Ram <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hi Voiceless BGM rip kings AJ and Wasim,I got an oppurtunity to watch the Indian movie again after a long time. Re: [arr] Two versions of Water

2005-12-22 Thread syed

Hi All,      I have been hearing about this other version of 'Water' which was out in october sometime. but unfortunately i was not a member of the group at the time and havent heard the songs till now. Can anybody give me links to these songs.      Thanks and regards, Saiyad Ajit <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Interesting going ons with Water...What was released from Varesesarabande yesterday is definitely different from what we heard back in October.  The soundtrack minus Bangari Marori is a loss, but I am truly swept away by the other tracks.  The added instrumentation in my opinion beautifully embellishes the songs and does not overwhelm the great singing and melody.  For those who think that the added instrumentation is
awkward, just think that if you never heard the version that came out earlier, you would not be thinking that the instrumentation sounds awkward at all.  Unbelievably brilliant and mindblowing score by Rahman and Danna did a good job too, but not as impressive as Rahman with those 5 songs. These songs by Rahman, including Bangari Marori, are undoubtedly one of his finest and also undoubtedly one of the finest compositions to ever come out of Indian cinema. There is another CD version out there somewhere with the songs that was leaked out by mistake in October and under the Indian music label of Saregama.  Mahiram was supposed to be the carrier website for this version.  Since the movie was banned in India and most of South Asia, the soundtrack release under this label with the songs that we heard earlier is on hold.  Let's hope that the movie does release so that the soundtrack will release.  It's a
shame that the low quality MP3s of that version are being sold.  If the movie does not release, let's hope the Indian version soundtrack in high CD quality can be available.  I really do hope that you all in India can gain access to this music as I do feel very bad that availability is not in India, the country from which our number one composer gave birth to such music. India and all of South Asia deserve to hear this beautiful music.  Bangari Marori is a beautiful piece and I am glad that we got to hear it earlier.  Actually, even though the song is heard in low quality real player format, because there is hardly any instrumentation and the focus being on the voice and melody, the song does not suffer sonically in my opinion with the low quality version.  In fact, with this low quality version, it sounds very raw and innocent, like a tune heard from olden times when sound quality then was also
low.  The other songs, however, do suffer a lot with the low quality sound.  I previously downloaded Bangari Marori and yesterday recorded it as the sixth song with the rest of the 5 songs on a separate CD for completion.  The songs of Water are going to live a very very long life and will be a golden highpoint in the career of A.R. Rahman. __Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection

Re: [arr] RISING MUSIC by 15th june...Promo has been shown

2005-06-24 Thread Syed Adnan Zakir Ali
Hey
I'm from Karachi..The audio records of 'Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose'
is still not available in Pakistan..i don't know whyI'm dying
for it..Maybe, because the Pak Government has now put restrictions on
Piracy and related stuff..Its not a good environment for creative arts
in Pakistanat all.
