Hi list,

I tired with SLM to specify the working hours and 24 hours, I was using
Business Entity configuration but still not working, the SLAs running all the
time?

Any Ideas?

Subject: Problem processing incoming mail

We have both an outgoing and incoming mailbox set up. The outgoing is
working fine and haven't had any need to use the incoming mailbox until now.
I need to get email submission working and while trying to send email to the
user that we set up for Remedy emails on MS Exchange I found that these
incoming emails are going just sitting in the inbox of the Remedy accout and
not being processed by the Remedy mailbox(inbox).

The main difference between the Incoming mailbox and Outgoing mailbox is the
Email Server Type. Outgoing uses: SMTP Incoming uses: POP3

Everything else is pretty much the same.
Can someone give me some ideas on how I can troubleshoot the incoming
mailbox?

Thanks
Brooks

Re: Requester Console. Event error 326

2007-07-04 Thread Lunkwill
Thanks for your responses.
Now I found the SRM: Request form ...

Checking the Urgency-field:
The Urgency field is not empty in the SRM: Request form.

Checking the Summary Defination form:
The impact field is set.

Actually the first ever request, from the Requester Console got a
Request-ID and showed
up in Change Management Console as a draft.

However looking in the CAI: Events form I can't see the
SRM_OUT_CREATE_APP_REQUEST or SRM_IN_PUSH_APP_REQUEST_INFO events from
this request. I only see this:
---snipp---
SRM_OUT_ACTIVATE_APP_REQUEST
Rtn Message Code: 2
Return Msg.: CHG:ChangeInterface. The entry you requested does not
exist.
---snipp---
(Maybe only CAI Events form shows the failed events?)

We also get this event/error when we are trying to update Work Info
log
on requests with status In Process(from Requester Console)

As said, this one-and-only request (with request-id) showed up in
Ch. Mgmt. Console in status draft.
Trying to update this request or choose next stage etc, when saving;
the same error message shows up in a popup window:
ARERR 326 ARCreateEntry - Required field cannot be reset to a NULL
value SRM:Request :Urgency

Well, I guess I'll have to log client and server to analyze the
process/flow

On 3 Juli, 16:10, Ben Cantatore [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
If the message says required field cannot be reset to a null value that
probably means that somehow the Urgency field is null in the SRM:Request
form. This form like most forms in version 7 is alias so when you search
for SRM:Requests, Service Request is what shows up, that's the form you
want to check. If the urgency field is empty, then that's definately the
problem. Check the Summary Defination form and see if somehow your impact
field is null (can't imagine that being the case as its required). Then
I'd recommend flipping on the logs and see what values are getting set
when you try to submit. You will probably require both server and client
side logging to see the whole picture.

Also, is this the first time you're setting this up or has this been
working? If this was previously working, I'd check back to the last time
it was working and see what may have changed. If this is a new setup,
check over all your configuration settings.

 Requester Console. Event error 326

Trying to register Change requests via Requster Console, but they get
stuck with Request ID: In process.

When checking the CAI: Events form it says.
 --- snip ---
Return Message : ARCreateEntry - Required field cannot be reset to a
 NULL valueSRM:Request :
  Urgency
 Rtn Message Code : 326
 --- snip ---

The Urgency field in the Requester Console is mandatory and filled in
 via a selectbox.

Reading KM-00024637 (Troubleshooting Problems with the Requester
Console in ITSM 7.0) at BMC Support-site, it says:

 3. Open the SRM:Request form and see if there was a record created for
 this event.

The problem is that I can't find this form other than via
 Admintool.

The KM-00024637 also says that I should find three records in CAI:
 Events form with the Events:
 SRM_OUT_CREATE_APP_REQUEST, SRM_OUT_ACTIVATE_APP_REQUEST and
 SRM_IN_PUSH_APP_REQUEST_INFO

 All with Return Message Success
But I only got Event: SRM_OUT_CREATE_APP_REQUEST
with above mentioned error. (between the snippets)

 Any clues?

(Running BMC Remedy 7.0.01 with BMC Change Mgmt
 on Windows 2003..)

If you want a list you can print, create a form and create an entry with
user and date/time information. Use an active link to push information
whenever user opens a default form or opens 'any' form on the system.
Another active link MAY be able to update the entry with log-out information
when the client/mid-tier user is closed.

You could also create a display form with table to list the active users.

2. Check the path listed in the EIE:ApplicationSettings. If it doesn't match

Re: Assignee Group field length limit

2007-07-04 Thread Axton

Multiple people have extended the field beyond 255 chars, but I
wouldn't recommend doing that. Remedy seems to use character arrays
with c functions like strcpy, strcat, etc. It would be better if they
used calls like strncpy, strncat, and the likes, but it's an old code
base. The header files define the assignee group at 255 characters,
and I can only assume that the structs used to store information on
the server side use these defines for character buffers, but if these
calls are used to write to a buffer, you get into buffer overflow
problems which can lead to one or more problems:
- corrupted memory (random server crashes and other unexpected behavior)
- potential for buffer overflow exploits (execution of arbitrary shell
code on the server); may have to pull out a noop slide and see if I
can write to an executable region of memory on various platforms.

2007-07-04 Thread Troy Sasso
Hi Joe,

What are you seeing in your Debug log for EIE?

You should eventually (once it's working) see the
following in your Debug log within EIE;
*
[08:06:35,05/22/07] - StartDataHandlers: Connection
established to both AR/CMDB and vendor application.
*

1. Make sure EIE can resolve the server name, I've
seen instances where using IP address vs. server name
makes the difference.

2. Are you clicking on the 'Run Now' button on the
EIE console to kick this exchange off? If so, don't.
Just Activate the exchange on the console and then
restart the EIE server in the server. The restart
will kick off the exchange . Then, check your debug
log (install directory/service/debug) and let me
know what it shows.

Re: Assignee Group field length limit

2007-07-04 Thread Jason Miller
Hi Mike,

Instead of increasing the Assignee Group field length could you get away
with using computed groups?

For example say a ticket for a certain type of issue needs to be seen by
groups A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J. You could create a computed group that includes
all of those groups and just set the Assignee Group field to computed group
instead of all of the groups. I have not had the honor of working with ITSM
7 yet so I am not sure if this is feasible or how much customization it
would take.

Re: Assignee Group field length limit

2007-07-04 Thread Mike Balogh
Jason,

Thanks for the idea. I did look at the possibility of using computed
groups. The problem is that one group of folks would need row-level access
to a subset of records in the form, and a completely different group of
folks would need row-level access to a different subset of records in the
form. There is no overlap... one group cannot be allowed to see another
group's records at all.

As far as I'm aware, the only way to accomplish a security design like the
one above is to use the Assignee Group field. And the Assignee Group field
only accepts explicit groups. At least, that's what the documentation says.
If anyone has experience otherwise, I'd be happy to hear about it.

Thanks,

Re: Assignee Group field length limit

2007-07-04 Thread Jason Miller
Mike,

Have you looked at using Dynamic groups and fields for row level access.
Instead of trying to cram all of the groups into field 112 you could add a
few Dynamic fields to split up the list of groups that can access the
record. There could be some SQL performance considerations in using multiple
Dynamic fields so you would have to make sure that it wouldn't over burden
your environment.

Regarding being able to use a computed group in the Assignee Group field. I
am pretty sure there isn't any issue with it and I pretty positive that I
have used a computed group in field 112 before (it has been a little while
since I have tried).

John has relied on is to get the list of connected users manually. Can we get
it thru some type of Remedy Code the same list so that it can then be tracked
for various reasons.

Warm Regards,

Hi John,

I believe it tracks User tool users only?

Is it possible to track MidTier users somehow?

Thank you.

Hi All,

The theory is use ARGetServerStatistics and run the application at an
interval of 5 minutes. The result return by ARGetServerStatistics should
be written in a table. The second step is to analyze data gather over,
let say, a month. In my opinion discovering what users do not use a fix
license even if they have a fixed license. In this manner fixed licenses
can be realocated in time.

Daniel

If you want a list you can print, create a form and create an entry with
user and date/time information. Use an active link to push information
whenever user opens a default form or opens 'any' form on the system.
Another active link MAY be able to update the entry with log-out
information when the client/mid-tier user is closed.

You could also create a display form with table to list the active
users.
