The values for this entry violate a unique index that has been defined for this form. : NTE:SYS-Group NT Control entry

2009-06-08 Thread Frex Popo
Dear all,

ARS. 7.1 patch 4 / OS. NT2003 SRV Edition / DB. MS SQL SRV 2005

It states in the performance and optimisation manual, only one node in a server
group should be used as the server for admin changes (i.e forms, workflow
etc..) but both should be accessed when making other changes (i.e adding
threads to a particular queue).
I added two threads to the list queue through the admin tool to node1 and node2
in a server group. I did a restart and got the following errors on both.

390603 : Entry does not exist in database. (ARERR 302)
390603 : The values for this entry violate a unique index that has been defined
for this form. : NTE:SYS-Group NT Control entry:NTG00156348

I enabled the SQL/Filter/API logs and noticed few errors relating to escalation
SYS:NPC:IM1-TriggerGroupNTG (attached to form NTE:SYS-NT Process Control) which
runs every 1 minute. The escalation updates field z1D Action with the value
START GROUP NOTIFICATION. It fails with the first error:

390603 : Entry does not exist in database. (ARERR 302)

This action in turn causes a filter NTE:NPC:CreateGroupNTG_050_PNTG to do an
insert to form NTE:SYS-Group NT Control which fails with the second error:

390603 : The values for this entry violate a unique index that has been defined
for this form. : NTE:SYS-Group NT Control entry:NTG00156348

When removing the two threads I have added and doing a restart I get no errors.

I also noticed that form NTE:SYS-NT Process Control still has some old entries
with submit dates as far back as 2007, some 22 of them in total.

frex

Asset 7.03 - Adding fields To Contracts. AST:AssetSupport

All,

I am working with the CMDB 2.0 and Asset Management 7.03.  I am looking into
adding fields to the Contracts forms.  I know the Contracts are not CI's.  Is
the proper way to add fields to the Contract form (AST:AssetSupport) to go
directly into the Administrator tool and add the fields? I know the class
manager is used for the CI's. I just want to make sure I am following the
correct method since I have never performed this.

How to expand BMC banner in the form header?

2009-06-08 Thread tina flores
Hi,

I added new fields on a OOB form and needed to extend the BMC Banner found
on top of the form (This is the blue banner with the BMC REMEDY IT SERVICE
MANAGEMENT - xx and the area where you can find the Help and
bmcsoftware). I tried to go Form Manage Views Form Properties
Appearance tab and tried to Save the image to disk thinking that I will be
able to modify the image but when I saved this a .bmp image, i got this
error message: No Image Conversion will take place. Save anyway? I clicked
Yes. When I accessed the file, it gave me the error: file not found.

Has anyone modified the banner before? Can you guide me on how to do this?
Is there an existing file created on install that I can modify?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tina

Re: Passing variables between Applications and Tasks

2009-06-08 Thread Savant, don...@dts
According to Support, there is no way to do it with CAI Event configuration
alone, you'd have to customize the application. That being said, there is an
RFE Pending Review to enhance the TMS for this functionality: RFE SW00329718.
Since the work around is simply to use the [View] parent button, the effort to
customize hardly seems worth it. Hopefully Engineering feels differently.

Our primary user community works only on Incidents or Tasks. Since we
completely bypass the Work Order system, we wanted to figure out a way to
pass the variables from Work Order to Task but haven=92t had any luck.

Even I was successful in passing variables between Tasks but couldn't figur=

finally gave up since I had many other critical issues on my plate.

As far as my research goes, this would basically require understanding
the CAI system and how each Event works.

Please share your experience when you are done. Good Luck.

Re: ARS 7.5 Install Question

2009-06-08 Thread Easter, David
If you install Tomcat 6 before installing AR System, then you can choose not to
install anything as part of the AR System installation. That way, you'll only
have Tomcat 6 on the system from the beginning. Both Atrium Core (CMDB) and AR
System 7.5.00 support Tomcat 6.

It was done this way because AR System 7.5.00 still supports Tomcat 5.5 - so
the earliest supported version of Tomcat was included as the JSP engine for IIS
users. Atrium Core 7.5.00 has a minimum version of Tomcat 6 and does not
support Tomcat 5.5.

Note that AR System does not require Tomcat specifically as a JSP engine. You
may choose to use another supported JSP engine (e.g. ServletExec) if you wish.
Or, if using a web or application server other than IIS, you may use the JSP
engine that comes with the web/app server (e.g. JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere,
etc.) as long as they're listed in the Compatibility Matrix. Tomcat was
included purely as a convenience to IIS users - who otherwise would have to go
find a JSP engine - and is not intended to convey a preference or requirement
for AR System.

** Mark,

This is incomplete, but it might help a little. Tomcat 5.x is used by
everything except Web Services and I think AIE, which require Tomcat 6. BMC
recommends that the Tomcat 6 components be on another server, for that reason
at least.

Uninstalling the CMDB does not work with the Uninstaller or the Add/Remove
programs. The only way I have found that worked was that there is a cleanup
executable buried deep in the install directory (sorry, can't remember the
particulars). It does work. I have heard that the fix for that will be in
patch 3.

Also, do NOT trust the HTML logs as official judges of whether an installation
works. They are no longer reliable in that regard in 7.5, especially with
Approval and Assignment.

I don't seem to have any choice in the matter, and I would prefer to use just
one version, different ports. When I installed Tomcat 6 manually, neither ARS
or CMDB will recognize it.

Uninstalling 7.5 is just so much fun, as I discovered. NOT! Nothing like
having to go into the registry to remove stuff, no uninstall and/or it doesn't
uninstall everything.

I must have missed something, don't understand something, or it has not clicked
why this makes sense that they do it this way.

I am trying to create an SRD that has several PDT's attached. All of
the PDT's are executed in the same phase / sequence when the SRD is

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

reply. The email is received by the mailbox but does not get processed by the
Email Engine. In the AR System Email Error Log I get Message number 4952,
generated by the AR System Mail Daemon. In the arerror.log file I get a ARERR
20108.

All other incoming email to this mailbox works fine. It is only the replies
from the email were I am doing the push to the ARS Messages that have a
problem. Can't find any reference to the two error message numbers.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Re: How to expand BMC banner in the form header?

2009-06-08 Thread Doug Blair

Tina,

The blue banner at the top of most of the OOB forms is just a
background image of a blue bar with the BMC logo in the right corner.
Before you try a lot of image manipulation, try this:

1- Open the form in ARAdmin

2- Form Menu - Current View - Properties - Appearance.

3- In the background section, change the Horizontal field from Left to
Fill. This will stretch the image to the right, and how far is
determined by which fields are VISIBLE when the form is displayed.

4- Press OK. You'll see the difference immediately. If you don't like
it, don't save it.

5- Save the form

If you have added only a narrow field on the right the worst that will
happen is that the BMC logo will widen slightly.

I have done this with a few forms that I no longer care are exactly
1024x768, and it works well as long as the new view isn't a LOT wider
than the old one.

If you want to export the image use the Save To Disk button and save
it as image.bmp or image.jpg (adding the .bmp file extension yourself.
Just type it). You can then modify the saved image in something like
Paint or the Snag-it image editor or just about any other graphics
program.

Of course, BMC might object to distortion of their logo :-)

Hope this helps...

Automated Change Requests created from CI Maintenance Schedules

Hello List,
I am curious if I am the only person trying to use this functionality. :-)
I need to add maintenance schedules to CI's, and have them automatically
create change requests (via change templates) based on the schedule

BMC said this functionality is not currently available - ITSM Patch 8 due in
Feb 2010 will incorporate this features.

Has anyone gotten Change Requests automatically genereated via Maintenance

Re: Creating the two tables with the add/remove buttons in between to swap data between tables effect

2009-06-08 Thread Thad K Esser
Curt,

You have two tables:
Table A is on the left, with A.Value referring to what's showing in the
list.
Table B is on the right, with B.Value as the values.

Create an unlimited length, temporary character field (zTmpChar).

Any time Table B gets changed (don't forget window open if appropriate),
call a guide that walks the B table (make sure the table is refreshed
first), and sets the zTmpChar field to a list of the B.Values. Use
whatever you want as separators, I'll use semi-colons here (if you make
sure the list starts and ends with semi-colons, things are easier). In
your screenshot, after the table walk, the zTmpChar field would look like:
;eBiz Catalog;eBiz eCommerce;Engineering Tools;

Set the table qualification on Table A to be:
NOT($zTmpChar$ like %; + 'A.Value' + ;%)

Refresh Table A.

The tricky part, if you will, is to put the zTmpChar field to the left in
the LIKE clause, and have the Table A value on the right.

Its been a while since I did this and I don't have access to that code
anymore, so hopefully I remembered enough to be helpful.

Re: Creating the two tables with the add/remove buttons in between to swap data between tables effect

2009-06-08 Thread Axton
This one is almost there. It will break when you have values in the
table that are substrings of other rows or values in the table that
are the same value as other rows.

Try adding this to Thad's response:
 - Add a hidden column in the table for the instanceid for both tables
 - Store the list of values in the char field as described (but store
the instanceid for each record, not a text value);
 - create a new display-only field to store an external qual (qualfield)
 - parse the semi-colon separated list of values and generate a
qualification, e.g.:
'179' = guid1 OR '179' = guid2 ...

Set the left table to use External Qual: NOT(EXTERNAL($qualfield$))
Set the right table to use External Qual: (EXTERNAL($qualfield$))

You will need to set the qualfield to 1=1 if it gets set null.

The one limitation is that the qual can only be 4k chars on Oracle.
Not sure of where clause limits with SQL Server and others. Assuming
a 30 char instanceid and the overhead of the rest of the qualification
(14 chars), you will be limited to a selection of ~90 items.

If ARS supported using IN, the list could be longer at ~121 items.

You could opt to use the entry_id instead of the instanceid, which
would buy you more selections (137, or 222 if ARS supported IN sql
token), the key here is to use a unique value to represent the
selection of each record. Failure to adhere to this will result in
breakage at some point.

the

Use
whatever
you want as separators, I'll use semi-colons here (if you make sure the
list
starts and ends with semi-colons, things are easier). In your
screenshot,
after the table walk, the zTmpChar field would look like:
;eBiz Catalog;eBiz eCommerce;Engineering Tools;

Set the table qualification on Table A to be:
NOT($zTmpChar$ like %; + 'A.Value' + ;%)

Refresh Table A.

The tricky part, if you will, is to put the zTmpChar field to the left
in
the LIKE clause, and have the Table A value on the right.

Its been a while since I did this and I don't have access to that code
anymore, so hopefully I remembered enough to be helpful.

This one is almost there. It will break when you have values in the
table that are substrings of other rows or values in the table that
are the same value as other rows.

Try adding this to Thad's response:
 - Add a hidden column in the table for the instanceid for both tables
 - Store the list of values in the char field as described (but store
the instanceid for each record, not a text value);
 - create a new display-only field to store an external qual (qualfield)
 - parse the semi-colon separated list of values and generate a
qualification, e.g.:
'179' = guid1 OR '179' = guid2 ...

That should give you unique values on left that are not in unique values

I would do it slightly different.

Left would be a join of Left and Right...the join would be something like

SELECT left.description
FROM left, right
Where left.description not in (
select right.description
from right
)

And the table on the right would be just a regular display of what's on the
right

The SQL above isn't tested...and more sudo code than actual...but should
work depending on your db and version.

Then when you add from left to right, refresh both tables...the item you
just added to the right should be removed from the left, and vis versa if
removing from the right.

Hi All - I am trying to install the Remedy User Tool (7.1 p 6) and when
I go to the ODBC Data Source Admin console and try to add a System DSN I
can't find the AR System ODBC Driver. I looked in the install folder
and the dll is there but if I look in the registry it doesn't find it.
Any ideas? I have tried to uninstall the client and reinstall (3 times)

If I look in User DSN I do see it but I can't open it. I get a registry

I am trying to install this on my Crystal Reports Server XI R2 server so
I can run web reports.
