C'est tout fini s'il vous plait.

(I am sure there is at least one error but I am sure
French 7.2.8 will fix it).

Re: MT 7.1 and AR Server 7.0

2010-05-27 Thread Kemes, Lisa
We have 7.5 p4 Midtier with a 7.1 p7 AR Server, but we are seeing weird issues
now with menus. We are getting "Bad Menu" errors in the Midtier. We have to
click it a couple of times and then the menu finally comes through, but it's a
pain. Our menu is coming from a new form that we just created. Looks like all
the other menu items that were created with older forms work just fine.
Weird.

Re: active link guide doesn't work

2010-05-27 Thread Chuck
What you are seeing is the write out of Actlink Guide function in the
js for midTier to the log file
doing a search you see the following in clientcore.js
imode.push({f:ARACTCallGuide, a:[weArgs.runGuide.server,
weArgs.runGuide.guidename, weArgs.runGuide.hidden,
weArgs.runGuide.tableid, weArgs.runGuide.selectedonly]});

So in you logs,
@ means current server, next parameter is name of the ActiveLinkGuid,
next parameter is false meaning that the Guide is not hidden for the
user (he can see it in User tool object list) , next 2 parameters are
undefined because the guide is not looping a table, and not looping on
selected rows)

Re: Upgrade to 7.5 Patch 4 and 5 fails

2010-05-27 Thread Mueller, Doug
Mark

First, I don't understand why there is the modify you are indicating as the
field is already a not null field and it is not changing the datatype. But,
that is not the issue here. The issue is how to move forward.

This issue is Oracle only. And, it affects only customers who were on an
install of around 4 or earlier and who have just been upgrading since as the
field was a long originally and changed to being a clob later. So, your case
has not been changed to a clob. Nothing is a problem with a long, and there
have been options to convert to a clob since but for whatever reason yours are
still long. Most customers don't see it because they installed (or reinstalled
or converted) with later versions that created it as a clob.

As for moving forward, the following scenario has been successfully performed
at another customer who asked me about this topic.

In your existing environment:

1) Add a column named xxx that is a clob not null to the table actlink_message
2) Update actlink_message set xxx=msgText no where clause so it does it to
all rows now you have the same data in xxx and msgText
3) Delete column msgText
4) Rename column xxx to msgText

This should not affect the running system in any way but obviously do this on a
test system and you could just rename the column in 3 rather than delete it so
you can restore it if needed. Try creating an active link with a message action
to make sure it works OK -- but it should.

NOTE: This has been done on at least one customer site with no issues and the
install was able to proceed without issue. I just continue to include all the
caveats just in case.

By the way, this is not a bad change in itself. It is changing using an older
data type to a newer one that is more recommended by Oracle so the end result
of this "workaround" is to be using a better choice anyway.

This issue has been fowarded to the dev team to look at why this change is being
done in the first place and if it is needed, why there was no allowance for the
cases where this may still be a long from older installations. So, this issue
should not occur in the future.

I hope this helps you get over the hump in your current installation.

Subject: Upgrade to 7.5 Patch 4 and 5 fails

Hi there,

we're on ARS 6.3 with Oracle 9.2 on Linux Red Hat.

We're trying to upgrade from 6.3 to 7.5 on Oracle 11 and Linux Red
Hat. We tried to upgrade to 7.5 patch 4 and then to 7.5 patch 5; both
fail while executing this statement:

Failed to run SQL statement [ALTER TABLE ACTLINK_MESSAGE MODIFY
( MSGTEXT CLOB NOT NULL )] Due to [ORA-22296: invalid ALTER TABLE
option for conversion of LONG datatype to LOB

In order to make the gap between the versions smaller, we've upgraded
6.3 to 7.1. This worked just fine, however the upgrade from 7.1 to 7.5
failed again for the same reason.

Any ideas where can we go from here?

Give it a shot and let me know how it goes..

Melissa & Mike,

One thing to check... Is the drive actually mapped on the Citrix

server. We found that we had a problem where a drive was mapped on the

user's machine, it was not mapped on the Citrix Server (where the User

tool is actually running). Our Citrix admins kept telling us it was

mapped but until I did an Active Link that captured the Net Use command

inside the User Tool and found it wasn't we kept having issues.

You might want to create a Diagnostics form with a button and 1 or more

large character fields to capture info and see what you really have

mapped inside the User Tool.

Mike,

We have the same problem for users via Citrix. I opened a ticket to BMC

support and this was the support's response:

"As per the version you mentioned in your initial email, you are using

Citrix Presentation server 4.0. As per the compatibility matrix, the

only supported citrix version for ARS 6.3, 7.0.01, 7.1 are Metaframe 1.2

(Unix) and Metaframe 3.0 (Windows). Our Engineering hasn't tested this

with Citrix Presentation Server. So the issue could not be sent to the

further level since the citrix version is unsupported"

Metaframe 3.0 is an old Citrix version. I don't understand why the

newer version, Citrix Presentation server 4.0, is not supported by BMC.

Thanks,

Eric

I've been trying to figure this out for months now, though I only see

the behavior when the Remedy client is running via Citrix. In my case,

network drives work fine, but the drive mapped to the user's local hard

disk (V: in my case) is where I see the parameter is incorrect message.

This is with WUT 7.0.1 p3 through p6. Performing the same operation from

a 6.3 user tool in Citrix does not exhibit the same behavior (it works

as expected).

Sorry I don't have more to offer.

You really dont need the Date in the Run if Qualification as that will
ALWAYS equal true on a Modify

Unless you need to spoof that name manually while testing.

Mid-Tier 6.3 p21 not serving up SOME of the JSP pages

2010-05-27 Thread Opela, Gary L CTR USAF ABW 72 ABW/SCOOA
Mid-Tier 6.3 P 021

AR Server 7.1

Windows 2k3

I have tested out NewAtlanta servlet exec to make sure it is working. They
suggest going to the test page that displays the current time
(https://localhost/servlet/DateServlet, that all works.

Login.jsp works. Config.jsp works. From the Configuration Tool page, I get the
following result:

Overview (/arsys/shared/config/config_overview.jsp) works

General Settings (/arsys/shared/config/config_general.jsp) works

AR Server Settings (/arsys/shared/config/config_arslist.jsp) works

Cache Settings (/arsys/shared/config/config_cache.jsp) works

Web Service Settings (arsys/shared/config/config_webservice.jsp) DOES NOT WORK
ß this is not a big deal for this one.

Log Settings (arsys/shared/config/config_logs.jsp) DOES NOT WORK

Change Password (arsys/shared/config/config_password.jsp) DOES NOT WORK

Also that doesn't work, from the AR Server Settings page:

Add Server (arsys/shared/config/config_add_arserver.jsp) and Edit
(arsys/servlet/DeleteServerServlet?) buttons don't work.

The pages that don't load all give me "The website cannot display the page"
error. I thought at first it was New Atlanta, I read that it can have issues
with IIS if you are using multiple application pools, which I am. However, if
it were New Atlanta, why would some of the jsps serve up and some not?

Also worth mentioning, the JSP issue was here prior to my upgrading of the
remedy server to 7.1, and the web server and ar server are on separate boxes.

My root error I'm trying to troubleshoot is one that I've seen other people run
into a lot: ARERR[623] Authentication failed. This is not an authentication
failed error due to my remedy login account and password not matching, this is
an issue with the Mid-Tier itself trying to connect to the remedy server.

Thanks,

Gary Opela, Jr.

Why do you want to fire offf of Modify Date changing? Are you checking
the Before and After time of the Date?
Example: Firing filter on Modify if Modified Dates differ greater than
1 Day.

Execute On: Modify or Get Entry or Service or Delete
Run-If: 'TR.Modified Date' > ('DB.Modified Date' + (3600 *24))

Since Modified Date always changes on successfull update, the TR value
is never null.

Re: Last Modified By Question

2010-05-27 Thread Pierce, Amanda (TBS)
Chuck,
I have a scenario where I need to send a notification when an external system
modifies a record. So, I have a filter firing on Modify with Run If: 'Last
Modified By' != 'DB.Last Modified By' AND 'Last Modified By' = "SCIB"
I see a record being modified by this USER, however, my filter will not
fire...seems like it is not actually seeing the system stamp of Last Modified
By as a change.

Hello All,
Has anyone ever fired a filter off of the Last Modified By field
changing?
I have set up a filter to do this, but its not firing...seems like a
filter will not fire off of this modification. I couldn't find anything
in the documentation that would say if it was possible or not...

Thanks in Advance for any help/guidance!

Hi Frex,

I had the same issue with the Tomcat 6.0.26 installer on a 64bit Windows
system.
You don’t get the option to install 32 bit Tomcat, it seems to default to the
64 bit hence the request for 64 bit JRE.

I downloaded the 32 bit directories from the Tomcat site and put them in the
c:\program files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0 directory I created.

The download included a running, txt file that tells you to create two variables
pointing to the 32 bit Java:
JRE_HOME -> c:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6
JAVA_HOME -> c:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_20

To create a Windows service for Tomcat you can run the following from the
Tomcat bin directory:
   service.bat install

HTH

Cheers
Peter

Dear all,

Installed ARS7.6 and JRE1.5(32bit) on a 64 bit machine. I am about to install
CMDB7.6patch01. If I omit to install the webservices components, the bundled
tomcat server will not get installed. So decided to install tomcat seperatly
instead. I downloaded tomcat5.5 (32/64) executable for windows, and during
installation it asks me for a 64-bit JRE!!

Is anyone familiar with this situation and is there a simple solution.

Any contributions will be very much appreciated.
