No there are no limitation on size of email messages(html/text) body. The
corresponding field has infinite field length so no issues of size.

messages that have a large message body (64346 characters was one of
them). I am not seeing any errors in the emaild.sh_log nor am I seeing

customising SHR:SchemaNames

2010-07-08 Thread Frex Popo
I am thinking about customising the SHR:SchemaNames (adding a couple of fields)
in order to change the way the menu (in the Manage CIs console  -
AST:ManageAssetInformation) displays the list of all the classes/CIs. But since
this is a CMDB system form, me thinking better off creating a new form with the
data from SHR:SchemaNames and use it instead.

Any thoughts will be appreciated?

Crystal Report subfile doesn't display data

2010-07-08 Thread Martin, Dwayne
Dear List,
We have a Crystal Report based on a main control panel form, and a sub-report
based on a related form. It displays fine in Crystal, but in Remedy, both WUT
and Mid-Tier, the main report appears with the data, but the sub-report just
shows the labels, no data.
We have dozens of reports with sub-reports that display OK. Any idea what
might be the problem with this one?

I put midtier on the CR server, and use another mid-tier and point to it as
well.. think of it as a backup midtier..
skip the viewer all together.. ..

IF you install midtier, you get the viewer.. why waste your time with just a
viewer..

hope that helps.

production!! For my dev server I used 7.0.01.008. I have been pointing my
7.5.00.005 pre-production mid-tiers at that last one for testing... it works
just fine since all the 7.0.01 mid-tier is doing is serving up the crystal
report.

I have not tried to update the CRXI mid-tiers to 7.5, and gave up on later
patches of 7.1 as the installers remained bug-ridden - trying to upgrade the
mid-tier from 7.0.01 to 7.1 ignored and wiped out the report viewer. CRXI is
such a pain to install and license that once you get one running, AND a working
mid-tier, I try to leave it alone.

I'd love to tell you that the BMC installers have improved in 7.5/7.6, but they
have not. This week's poster child for worthless installers is BMC Analytics
7.6.01, which skips the entire dialog box set for specifying your db connection
- much as the mid-tier installer fails to detect CRXI/BOXI and prompt to
install the Crystal viewer. All I can recommend is that you try every patch
level of mid-tier that you can find until one works correctly; most of them are
flawed.

Re: Directing Search based reports to another ARS and DB

2010-07-08 Thread LJ LongWing
Anuj,

When dealing with this requirement in the past myself I found it was best to
both limit the production query set and limit the dataset on production to
what is needed for production..if you don't need 4 years of history in
production, don't have it..this will increase the performance of production
by default. Then you can have your entire data set in reporting.if someone
wants to run a 'large' query in production, they will either hit the results
limit or not have the data they need because of truncation of old data and
need to go to the reporting server anyway. At one position I held we had a
'this month and last' rule in production..62 days worth of ticket data in
production..everything else needed to come from reporting.

Hi Joe,

Yes, our user base is very large.

We have observed that when large search is fired on our production server,
then the performance deteriorates. Hence we want the search to be fired on
other ARS and DB (having backup of the production data).

Moreover, we are not going for load balancer, we simply want that through
workflows we should be able to achieve this.

Anuj,

Why would you want to do something like that? Are the number of concurrent
users on your system extremely large? What kind of a usage do you expect in
terms of numbers both total and concurrent??

And even if you do have an extremely large user base, are you aware that the
creation threads on the ARS are different from the search threads? If you
have more than one server pointing to the same database, wouldn't you rather
configure them to be a part of a server group?

An RPC call sent from a client doesn't get assigned to a Fast or a List
thread until the transaction hits the server, so it may not be possible to
direct this call from a load balancer configuration to one or the other
server based on what kind of a thread the server would assign this call to.

Re: Date/Time field query

Drew,
Look up the modulus command (%)what you need to do is say something like

'Create Date' start date AND 'Create Date' end date AND ('Create
Date'%86400 60*60*12)

The 60*60*120 is seconds in a min times min's in an hour times hour of the
day you are looking for. The 'Create Date'%86400 basically divides the # of
seconds in the field by the number of seconds in a day and gives you the
remainder of that division problem...this will effectively be the # of
seconds of that day...

If the site will be different for all of these people, the best thing to
do (from my experience) is to run an AR report including the People ID

users. You can then add a column for 'Site+' on the .csv and update it
with information from your Site form (The values need to exist on the

Re: reporting - plugin exception

2010-07-08 Thread Ramey, Anne
This was because of an IIS issue (the Crystal is using IIS). We got that
sorted out and now the mis-tier that is local to the Crystal server works. Now
I'm trying to make my other mid-tier talk to it and work with Crystal as
well...and am getting a different plugin error:
SEVERE (com.remedy.log.DVMODULE) : Exception while processing requestARERR

module server(s)
Clearly this error is inaccurate, since the reports are working against the
same ARS from a different mid-tier. This reporting setup is so frustrating.

Pushing Multiple Records with Escalation

2010-07-08 Thread ahsan raza
Hi Ar Listers,

I am looking to add multiple records/entries from one
form to another using a radio button option, So whenever i click radion
button, it should add all teh new entries (more than 20) to the other form.

1) How would i do with an escalation for some specific time .
2) How can i use filters and filter guides for the same action.

Please consider my query.

Help will be appreciated.

well if you are doing it with an escalation you do not need a radio button,
just have an escalation that fires off at a certain time and modifies a
field on your form, like a display form such as Z1DAction. Pass a value
like Start Record Creation, then have filter guides that will go through and
create multiple records. They way I have always done that is with a integer
field and increment it down in the filter guide each time you create the new
record. Just make sure you loop through that filter guide.

Mark As Delete is Not Working Discovery

2010-07-08 Thread Kathy Morris
Hi All,

We have discovery 1.6, Foundation. I ran discovery tasks, and I have
deletion policy to delete the asset after 2 tries. Isn't the discovery
workflow supposed to mark the asset as delete in TOPO after synchronization if
the
asset was not discovered twice? Instead, all of my assets in Topology are
still set as Mark As Delete = NO.

This is odd. How can I purge out the old assets from TOPO? Isn't the
Discovery synchronization supposed to modify these assets with Mark As
Delete = YES.

I think we may be missing understanding a step in what you are attempting to
do. In your form is there a table field that you are using to create the
multiple records? Maybe a little bit more of an explanation of your base form
and the push to create the multiple records will help us help you.

Re: Pushing Multiple Records with Escalation

2010-07-08 Thread Kevin Begosh
basically you need a escalation that starts the process, a filter that sets
a integer field on how many records you want to create, a filter that calls
the filter guide ( could be the same filter that sets the integer field),
and then a couple of filters, one that checks the interger to make sure it
is more than 0, one that creates the record, and then one that subtracts the
integer. You must also loop through the filter guide to keep on creating
the record.

Re: Pushing Multiple Records with Escalation

2010-07-08 Thread patchsk
Clicking a radio button is a client side action.
Escalations are server side so you can not combine escalation and
radio button click. This has to be done through ActiveLinks.
However you can write a filter to do pushfields-create new entry and
then trigger this filter via escalation or via radio button upon
commit.
Ex: Form A is the source form and Form B is where you want entries to
be created.
Write an escalation on Form A to set a tempfield:TriggerPushFilter
Write a filter on Form A to push data to Form B with RunIF
( 'tempfield' = TriggerPushFilter)

However in your case you want multiple entries to be created and if
the data is from a table field on Form A,
you need to perform table walk.
Tablewalk can be performed via ActiveLink Guide(for radio button), or
filter guide(for escalation).

please follow the below tutorials on how to do the table walk.

Asset Management Budgeting Tool

2010-07-08 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Good afternoon,

We are working on building requirements for an asset management project. It
looks like a lot of what we are going to need to focus on is less about true
asset management, and more about the budgeting aspects of paying maintenance.
We already use Asset Management to track contracts, licenses, etc., but we are
going to need the ability to do budget forecasting and such, which doesn't seem
to exist in any of the OOtB applications. I know we can build something in ARS
to tie in to the Asset Management data to do this, but I wanted to see if
anyone here knows of a tool that is already out there that integrates with ITSM
data for this purpose.

If you know of any Asset Management integrated budget forecasting tools, please
let me know.

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson

SLA target not detaching from incident

2010-07-08 Thread Martinez, Marcelo A
Hello,
I have an issue related to SLAs...
We have SLA targets setup for Medium, High, and Critical priority incidents.
Response and Resolution targets for each priority.
We do not have SLA targets for Low priority incidents.

The issue is that when an incident is created with a priority of Medium the
corresponding SLAs targets are attached. Now if the assignee changes the
priority to Low, the response SLA targets 'detaches' but the resolution target
stays attached. And thus managers and supervisors are getting notifications for
Low priority tickets. And are now complaining..

I have done a search and can see this happening 2+ years ago. Users are just
complaining now..

Is/has anyone else experienced this same issue?

Thanks,
Marcelo

Subject: AREmail engine message size limitation?

 AR System 7.1
Email Engine: 7.1.00 Patch 008

Hi: is there a limit in the size of the message that AREmail engine can
process. I am not seeing emails in the AR System Email Messages for
messages that have a large message body (64346 characters was one of
them). I am not seeing any errors in the emaild.sh_log nor am I seeing
anything in AR System Email Error Logs form.

Thanks
Ravi

I would recommend to have the email message body content less(1 char
max), since these content is sent/triggered from the different ITSM
applications and the NTE Sys Process Control does hang up/slow down when
such huge content is being processed.
