Re: SRM 7.6.04 links

2011-09-27 Thread Chowdhury, Tauf
Junaid,

Is this a fresh install? I checked both my 7.6.04 and my older SRM 2.2
installation and both entries in App Admin Console Custom tab state
Service Request Management. The only entry with the word system in
it is Task Management. Could it be someone else added this as a
customization? You can run workflow logging to figure this out or just
look at Dev Studio.

Hi listers,

We are seeing 2 links for SRM under Application Administration Console.
One is Service Request Management and the other is Service Request
Management System. The other link has few option and when clicked on
any one , it gives error message Form does not exist on server. We
are using SRM 7.6.04 on Windows 2003 server.

RV: Old Question - About SVT Grouping and Multiple SVT for INC's Assigned Group

Group

Listers,

I know my question could be a little bit silly and probably it was answered but
I want to ask you again for SLM 7.6.04 (my apologies...)

If you want to measure time where an Incident ticket is assigned to a specific
group (OLA), independently of incident's status, should you use in SVT' Start
Condition 'Assigned Group' = Name of Assigned Group and Stop Condition
'Assigned Group' != Name of Assigned Group?
We want to measure two kinds of metrics:

- SVT for SLA End to End (means from Assigned to Resolved Status)

- SVT for OLA for each assigned group working in the incident (means
every time incident is reassigned to a new group an SVT should be attached and
started, and previous assigned group should stop its related SVT)
In the meanwhile incident ticket stills Assigned or Work In Progress.

We want to use SVT grouping and SVT' fields Reset Goal for Same Request = No
and Allow Service Target to Re-Open = Yes.

Any advice you can give me would be really appreciated.

Cheers,

Alejandro

Re: Old Question - About SVT Grouping and Multiple SVT for INC's Assigned Group

2011-09-27 Thread Andrew C Goodall
It depends on how many groups you want to measure.

If only a handful then sure, you'll need to add an SLA measurement for
each support group.

If many, then I would not measure this in an SLA in SLM but rather use
the incident assignment logging and produce reports based on those
metrics.

Application Permission issue - exporting - importing

2011-09-27 Thread patrick zandi
Hello all,
I am missing something here: hoping my ignorance will be to your shining
star with an answer... ;-)

Application (ITSM) Change management Dashboard :: I added a couple of
dashbaords, a couple of table fields and some workflow.. which works.. fine.

ISSUE: exporting and importing into another server:: IE go from test to
Prod.

I have tried to export individually: forms, AL, Flashbaords, etc.. and
import
:: result:: get error like the following::
Group permissions removed for this is a licensed product ..
blah blah, all permissions removed.
I have tried to export the application, with all the workflow and import
one time it worked great: now I get the above
I have tried to use migrator: Same results.

is there a special way to import Application?
I have tried export application, application + forms and workflow, just
workflow + forms, and a couple of other random ways..

Barcode Scanner Question

2011-09-27 Thread Warren R. Baltimore II
Good Morning/afternoon/evening ARS Listers!

I've got a question for you. I've been tasked with setting up a brand new
Asset system (ARS 7.6.04/Asset 7.6.04 etc.). We will be utilizing the
aeroprise gateway also.

Here's my issue. I need to identify a barcode scanner that will work with a
blackberry, but CANNOT use bluetooth. It must be physically tethered to the
blackberry (or an all in one unit).

Can anybody point me towards the correct equipment?

Re: Passwords in URLs

2011-09-27 Thread Axton
Me thinks the solutions is to deprecate the User Tool. If accessing DV
plugins from a midtier session, the current session information is used to
load the DV plugin and populate the DVF. How does one initiate an SSO
session from a native tool if an SSO session is not established in the
context of a web browser? Kerberos is the only remotely widely deployed
cross-platform technology I can think of.

Encrypting the password is a useful step, but not a very useful step as
essentially the password is still there and could be decrypted, and if one
has a copy of the Mid Tier jar files, it's probably achievable in about 2
minutes. This would almost certainly fail a security audit.

The only way to solve this problem is to remove the passwords by
 implementing SSO.

Re: EXTERNAL: Barcode Scanner Question

2011-09-27 Thread Reiser, John J
Warren,

Does it have to be a BlackBerry?

We utilized an Aeroprise (Aero-Sync) setup years ago with a Symbol
Technologies PDA running Windows ME.

Since we were restricted from using any wireless we docked the PDA (with a
built in scanner) to a PC and used the Aero-Sync product to upload into our
asset form.

It worked for a while until the scanner became damaged and there was no
spare or replacement money.

We ended up letting the Aeroprise license lapse. I think if IT Security had
allowed wi-fi connectivity to the PDAs we would have kept Aeroprise and even
gotten more licenses to use for Inventory and Asset relocation tasks.

Disable ITSM 7.6.04 Vendor-Restricted Access (60900)

2011-09-27 Thread Phil
The ITSM 7.6.04 Multi Tenancy states the following about the vendor-
restricted access function using field id 60900.

If vendor-restricted access is configured, the assignee support
company and the incident owner are used to populate field 60900 to
grant access, as described in “The role of field 60900” on page 39. If
vendor-restricted access is not configured, in this example, even if
John Support were assigned the incident, he could not view it. This
security feature is designed to prevent accidentally granting view
access if a request is accidentally assigned to someone who supports
the wrong company.

This appears to state that vendor-restricted access to tickets can be
disabled in ITSM 7.6.04 but searching throught the config guide etc I
cannot see any configuration options to disable vendor restricted
access, is it possible to disable this feature?

Thanks

You can always add the field if it is not available in your AOT field mapping.
The guide should be able to help you with that. It's fairly simple to do. While
you're in there, you may want to add the Product Categorization 2, 3, and
Product Name as well. If I remember correctly, those are not available out of
the box. (Don't ask why) :)

Yes, it is a fresh install. We have another environment where we are running

are seeing Service Request Management System link in Application

 Junaid,

Is this a fresh install? I checked both my 7.6.04 and my older SRM 2.2
installation and both entries in App Admin Console Custom tab state
“Service Request Management.” The only entry with the word “system” in it is
Task Management. Could it be someone else added this as a customization? You
can run workflow logging to figure this out or just look at Dev Studio.***

Plugin Server issue

2011-09-27 Thread Rodriguez, Rafael J x23718
Hello list,

I know similar topics have been discussed although after trying them all I'm
still facing this issue. The error I'm seeing is the following:

Cannot establish a network connection to the AR System Plug-In server : SERVER
NAME () : RPC: Miscellaneous tli error - System error (Connection refused)
(ARERR 8760)

I have turned on Plugin log and do not see the plugin failing. I do see the
filter that is causing this is NE:InvokePlugin

We are running in a server group environment and I have confirmed that the
Server Name Alias is correct and the Server Connect Name is also set correctly.
I added the IP-NAME parameters but still can not figure out why we're getting
the error.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: Plugin Server issue

2011-09-27 Thread Walters, Mark
Port is the default for the Java plugin server, not the arplugin one, so
you need to enable logging via the pluginsvr_config.xml file. Also, I would
expect the NE plugins to be running under an instance of the Java plugin server
using a different port as they are part of the Atrium/CMDB package. You need
to double check the configs for the various Java based plugin servers and make
sure they're all running on unique ports and then verify the relevant
Server-Plugin-Alias lines in the ar.conf are referencing the correct instance
for each plugin.

mid-tiers and tomcats are all running with java 1.6.0_24 x64, and have some

not an installation option prior to Tomcat 6.0, as I recall, and at one point
years ago BMC warned against using it. They also used to warn against using

Thanks Andrew

But the configurations enforce certain rules; what i need is to set an specific
user as a change assignee, and rules randomly will place the assignment.

Is there a way to tell the assignment engine to select a single user?

Re: SRM issue with Incident SRDs

2011-09-27 Thread Gmail
I just ran into this today. This is by design since the incident was created
from a Service Request. You shouldn't hard code anything. A true incident User
Service Restoration should be created directly from the Incident Management
application.

Maria,
I've seen this issue and what I've had to do is hard code the mapping for that
field within your AOT after you relate the template to it. So when you define
the fields that will map to your variables in the PDT, pick Incident Type, but
set a default value of whatever it is you want. If you want to make it dynamic,
you can always add it without a value in the AOT and then map a variable that
you can then hard code or set via a question using your SRD question mapping
step.
Hope this doesn't confuse you...

Re: SRM issue with Incident SRDs

2011-09-27 Thread Chowdhury, Tauf
Moe,
I disagree. If you have an SRD setup specifically so that users can report an
issue with their laptop... The screen is cracked for example, then an IT
organization may consider that an automatic incident classified as a User
Service Restoration. In our organization, there are different service levels
attached depending on if the incident is categorized as a service request or
restoration. There is definitely a need to be able to map this.

 Hi,

Why ITIL is not standardize till now?

If we see IEEE, they have their standards but ITIL don't have.

Anybody knows about white paper on ITIL  Standardization. Standards work
best when they describe something in measureable terms that can be
independently tested and verified. Standards define a definite output in
unambiguous language to prevent miscommunications and misunderstandings.
