Re: FTS Plugin issues in 7.6.04

2012-03-15 Thread Rod Harris
Hi Nathan,

Could you give us some examples of the additional errors as that could make
all the difference?

In my recent install of 7.6.4 SP2 I noticed that the FTS plugin lines of
ar.cfg contained the fully qualified host name and this didn't work for me
when I moved my laptop from home to my mobile connection. I fixed the name
and restarted and all was good again.

Working Lists

2012-03-15 Thread Kemes, Lisa
ARS 7.6.4 SP2 (WHOOO HOOO, just upgraded!)
Windows 2008 Servers
Oracle 11g

Just wondering if anyone has heard if the Working Lists in Dev Studio can look
like what you bring up when you double click on Active Links (under All
Objects)

I really like working with Working Lists, but I can see if it's enabled, the
order, or the execute on unless I double click on the actual Active Link in
the Working List. All I get is Object Type, Modified Date and Customization
Type.

I would love to see that stuff when using Working Lists. I checked under
preferences and I can see you can tweak these columns for Objects, but not
Working List objects. :(

I guess it might be hard because each object would have slightly different
columns? I mean at least Enabled, Primary Form and Order would be awesome!

multi threading the java engine. Hopefully this helps with the out of

Re: FTS Plugin issues in 7.6.04

2012-03-15 Thread Tauf Chowdhury
One of the things we did to minimize the sheer load on FTS during an
initial search was to customize the search on open from an incident. SO
when users click Search Knowledge, we limited the default search to just
look at Knowledge articles. By default, ALL sources are checked such as
Incidents/Changes/Problems/Tasks/etc...
This increased time and load on the FTS.

Tony,
I have tried doing searches (via the user tool) on 0 length fields and
received errors (I believe it stores them in clob in the db)...but I'm on

problem, not a Remedy problemcan you issue the same query in the user

the DB?...I fully suspect you will find that it's a db problem and not an

Hi,

I have a Java program which uses getListEntry(). I use a QualifierInfo
object to create the qualification for getListEntry. The qualification
looks like this:

  QualifierInfo qualifier = remedyConn.parseQualification(arForm,
'Associated Asset' = \atl01a\);

Which results in this exception:
CreateRemedyTicket.getSchema ARExceptionERROR (552): Failure during
SQL operation to the database; ORA-00920: invalid relational operator

Oddly, if I change the equal sign to LIKE the query works:

QualifierInfo qualifier = remedyConn.parseQualification(arForm,
'Associated Asset' LIKE \atl01a\); // works

I have other qualifiers for different fields on the same form in which use
the equal sign with no problem. E.g.:

QualifierInfo qualifier = remedyConn.parseQualification(arForm,
'Summary' = \System Down\);  // works

The properties for the Summary and Associated Asset are the same with the
following two exceptions:

Entry Mode is Required for the Summary field (which works as expected) and
optional for the Associated Asset (which doesn't work).
Input Length is 254 for the Summary field and 0 for the Associated Asset
field.

I would appreciate any suggestions!

Re: FTS Plugin issues in 7.6.04

2012-03-15 Thread patchsk
Seems like there are several issues with this feature.
We could not even get it to work it on 7.6.03. Without server group it seem
to work, once enabled servergroup it starts crashing while failing over to
other server in the servergroup. Went through several iterations with BMC
it did not help any further so we went live without it.
I assume the product has been passed through testing before making GA.
Seems like there is a gap between BMC lab systems/configurations and real
world.

The problem is the RKM product is now solely dependent on a working FTS.
All the searches for RKM are done using the FTS plugin.

Well, BMC will tell you if you load SP1 and have problems you should load SP2
and if you have any problems with that, they will tell you to load SP3.

Each has it's own set of issues. Are you using ITSM or Your own apps?

Hi!

I should add that I was on 7.6.04sp1 for rather long time, and it turned
out recently, that in sp1 you can't make a copy of the regular form
(display-only is ok) using Save As function in Developer Studio. It's the
known defect, which was marked as fixed in SP2 and associated with the
Developer Studio. Sure just patching the Clients, including Developer
Studio didn't help, and afterall I patched the ARS with SP3 (no ITSM
applications, just ARS). Now everything looks ok, and I can create copies
of my regular forms.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Dmitry Baryshnikov

Let me add, all of our applications are home grown, so any sp corrections
for BMC applications won't affect us.

Subject: Which sp of 7.6.4 is most stable?

 Hello,
We decided last year to upgrade from ARServer 7.1, patch 1 to ARServer
7.5, patch 9. Unfortunately, due to several reasons, we still have not
upgraded and are now prepared to upgrade to 7.6.4, instead. Which sp
version is the most stable? Any input would be appreciated.

 Marc
