Adding new Configuration form in DMT?

2012-04-09 Thread Rajesh Shinde
Hello,

My requirement is to add a new configuration form in DMT, so that we can upload
the bulk data to the configuration form using DMT.
I did not find any document on that.

Can someone please let me know is it possible to add a new form in DMT 7.5.

Rajesh

Hi John,

I know I'm dating myself but . . . . Walter Matthau was on the tonight show
one night and talking about getting recognized. He said that he was out at
a restaurant one night, and had to go to the bathroom. While standing at
the urinal, someone said to him: Are you Drew Pearson? Walther Matthau
said: I haven't started yet.

Sorry. I know it's early on a Monday morning (or it is here) but that's one
of my all time favorite Walter Matthau lines. For those of you who don't
know who Drew Pearson is, look him up.

I once met John Major in a toilet. I waltzed in, keen to relieve myself
after consuming most of a very nice bottle of wine, and found myself waiting
patiently for Mr Major to relieve himself despite a number of urinals (I
couldn't possibly consider relieving myself next to an ex-PM). As he went to
wash his hands, I remarked Mr Major, I never expected to meet the ex-Prime
Minister of our country in the gents. He replied, You never know, you
never know.

I later met him in a more social environment. An MP was busy walking him
round introducing him to people. And this is John Baker, he said. Mr Major
replied, Indeed, we met in rather different circumstances earlier, and
smiled.

Re: Adding new Configuration form in DMT?

2012-04-09 Thread Peter Romain
You should be able to do this if you just use an existing form as a guide and
add the relevant configuration data.

You'll need to create the Excel Macro unless you forget this part and import
directly from a csv.

You might find it easier, though, just to use a new staging form with
validation rather than try and integrate into the DMT.

Re: Adding new Configuration form in DMT?

2012-04-09 Thread Rajesh Shinde
I was able to proceed with this.

One silly issues which I am facing is:

1. I am not able to read the existing Macros which are present in the Macro
folder, and hence unable to create a new macro for converting to csv format.

My question is how do I read the Macros in the Macro folder for Data
Management?

Populating the BMC_Person

2012-04-09 Thread Greg Donalson
Hi all,

I have noticed now in 7.6.04 (maybe it was earlier as well), that when you
add/update someone in the CTM:People form, it is adding them to the CMDB as
well. Is there a reason that this form is being populated?

Right now we link people to the CI, by using the AST:ComputerSystem form and
going to the People tab. I do not us changing this unless BMC makes us in the
future.

I am just wondering if I can turn off this workflow or if it is needed for
something I am missing or will be needed in the future.

Thanks!

That is the name of the thread. Not sure what SloManager is though. If
you use jstack, you can print the stack trace for that thread and it will
give you an idea of what classes are used within that thread. That should
point you in the direction of what that thread is for. Could be session
level objects, service level objects, or something else. I see these

Valid question, not stupid.

Yes I am connecting the correct server. These are production server, so no
production changes to configuration.

However, recently added field specific to certain users. I'm running into these
error for the user who should have write / read access to the fields the issue
occur on. We don't use itsm, as we have been customized since 90's.

User -- browser/IE/Firefox-- loadbalancer -- 2 http server --- 2 webshpere

When I login to http server directly same error.

Re: Populating the BMC_Person

2012-04-09 Thread strauss
I know that I had to overlay and disable all 39 filters named
CTM:PPL:Create_BMC_Person_* or CTM:PPL:Modify_BMC_Person_* or
CTM:PPL:Delete_BMC_Person_* last August that were trying to add and maintain
CMDB data for the People records, which we push in through a back-end
integration using AIE. That stopped all attempts to add any of our almost
300,000 customer records to the CMDB.

IF we ever need to actually do this, it will be for current faculty/staff and
NOT students, so we would have to customize these filters anyway to use roles
before enabling them..

I missed this response and have been working with BMC support for the last week
so. I did see the Pending record on the attribute form but BMC said that was
not the problem. The really screwy part is that that Pending record appears to
have been created using the stack installer. It was dated before we installed.

I just removed the recrod and the Sync UI process complete correctly.

Re: HTML and Plain Text emails

2012-04-09 Thread Lyle Taylor
My experience has been that Remedy (or something in the chain) takes a stab at
converting the plaintext messages to HTML and tacks the HTML and BODY tags onto
what you put in the notifications form. What I did was just use DIV tags in
the notifications:

DIV
Message content
/DIV

Then I could put any special formatting in the DIV or whatever is within the
DIV.

One catch that I found was that the e-mail engine (or something) was set on
replacing all newlines in the message content with BR tags. So, something like

DIV
Message
Content
/DIV

Which in normal HTML would display on a single line gets translated to

DIV
MessageBR
Content
/DIV

It's a bit annoying and keeps you from formatting your HTML the way you might
normally like (it forces you to have less newlines in your HTML text so that
the message looks right in the e-mail client), but was still workable.

Re: HTML and Plain Text emails

2012-04-09 Thread Lyle Taylor
Well, that's a good question. I've never verified how it looks, but I have
also never received any complaints about the messages. The majority of our
customers are viewing their e-mails with Outlook or another HTML capable
client, however, so I doubt there are many people that would potentially be
affected.

Some of that may depend on the e-mail server being used. Exchange for example
is capable of giving a plaintext version of an e-mail even if it was sent in
HTML. I guess you would have to try it and see...

Re: Populating the BMC_Person

2012-04-09 Thread Ben Chernys
It is for impact analysis. Only relationships can be used for this therefor
the person who may be impacted has to be related to a CI that may be
impacted. This cannot be done through associations.

I have seen inconsistencies and errors in the workflow to generate the
Person CI in 7.6 (not checked in 7.6.03, 04) where some Person CIs were
doubled or not there.

**

I do not us changing this unless BMC makes us in
the future.

I am just wondering if I can turn off this workflow or if it is needed for
something I am missing or will be needed in the future.

Thanks!

You might look into the ar.conf parameter Read-Only-Tran-Off

From the docs:
Causes AR System not to create database transactions when only
reading data.

Whether this will help or not depends on where the lock is coming from.
You can see what has a lock using this:
select do.object_name,
dbms_rowid.rowid_create(1,
ROW_WAIT_OBJ#,
ROW_WAIT_FILE#,
ROW_WAIT_BLOCK#,
ROW_WAIT_ROW#) row_id,
'select * from ' do.object_name ' where rowid = '''

Re: At a loss with Mid-Tier 7.5 Patch 6

2012-04-09 Thread Pruitt, Christopher (Bank of America Account)
Just an update on these Java issues we have been encountering on our new
Mid-Tier servers. We continued to receive Java errors on the second Mid-Tier
server and it was configured exactly like the first Mid-Tier, which we finally
got running.

It turns out that it was an Environment variable setting in the Registry that
was giving us all the fits. The Mid-Tier installer set the Windows Registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Apache Software Foundation\Procrun
2.0\Tomcat5\Parameters\ Environment variable to path=C:\PROGRA~1\BMC

However, when we modified the Environment variable path value to C:\Program
Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\midtier\WEB-INF\lib both servers started working
like a charm. No more Java errors. It was a strange one but I wanted to share
this just in case someone encounters this in the future.

We are installing the BMC Remedy Mid-Tier 7.5 Patch 6 on a brand new server and
encountering some java errors that Technical Support can't seem to resolve. I
was hoping someone on the list has encountered this before and can't give me
some pointers as to a resolution.

Here are the details:

OS/Version: Windows Server 2008 64 Bit R2 Enterprise Edition
ARS Mid-Tier Version/Patch- 7.5 Patch 6
WebServer/Version- Apache Tomcat Server 5.5.28
JSP Engine/Version- Tomcat 5.5.28
Java Version - 1.6.0_30 (32-bit)

Installed Java 6.0 32-bit version
Installed Mid-Tier version 7.5 patch 6 and selected the Tomcat default install
along with it.

I added the following to the Java tab on the Tomcat Config tab

-Djava.library.path=C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC

Launched Mid-Tier Config page. Got the login screen. Entered the mid-tier
password, pressed enter and this appeared.

Re: Help SYS: Notification Messages.

2012-04-09 Thread Kelly Deaver
**
The basics -
1 - workflow looks to see if a notifaction should be sent. IF yes it set a temp field with a 'tag'
2 - workflow determines who to notifiy and looks to see the locale in the people record for the person to be notified
3 - looks in the SYS:Notification Messages form for tag and locale that match
4 - send message in that language

There is LOT more to it than that but this is enough to get you on the right track.

Hi,
Why you want to set a flag in people form? But if you want to set then
create two types of messages in SYS:NOtification Messages form one in HTML
coded and another plain text. Set filter tags for both and fire these tags
in notification filters depending on people tags set on people form.
In email messages form write a filter for plain text body to set in HTML
body field when incoming message is HTML coded. This can be fired on
condition in run if.

Some of that may depend on the e-mail server being used. Exchange for

My experience has been that Remedy (or something in the chain) takes a
stab at converting the plaintext messages to HTML and tacks the HTML and
BODY tags onto what you put in the notifications form. What I did was just
use DIV tags in the notifications:

 DIV
 Message content
 /DIV

Then I could put any special formatting in the DIV or whatever is within
 the DIV.

One catch that I found was that the e-mail engine (or something) was set
on replacing all newlines in the message content with BR tags. So,
 something like

 DIV
 Message
 Content
 /DIV

Which in normal HTML would display on a single line gets translated to

 DIV
 MessageBR
 Content
 /DIV

It's a bit annoying and keeps you from formatting your HTML the way you
might normally like (it forces you to have less newlines in your HTML text
so that the message looks right in the e-mail client), but was still
 workable.
