BMC Analytics For BSM 7604

2012-09-25 Thread Sandeep Pandey
Dear List,

Is it Mandatory to install "SAP BusinessObjects XI Enterprise Release 3.1
SP3 or R2 SP5" before installing BMC analystics for BSM 7604? Where we will
get the installer for "SAP BusinessObjects XI Enterprise Release 3.1 SP3 or
R2 SP5" or is this comes along with BMC analytics?. Is this licensed
product?

Kindly let me know if anyone having idea for the same. Do we require any
thing additionally to implement BMC Analytics for BSM? Thanks.

Thanks for that Carl, certainly does that for them, though they have asked for
a permanent solution whereby they don't need to specify whether the Article

2012-09-25 Thread Easter, David
Yes, but I’d still recommend going the other way. Better to be trained on
8.0.00 and disregard some of the features that aren’t in 7.6.04 rather than
learning 7.6.04 and not knowing about what’s in 8.0.00.

Hi,

there will shortly be "What's new" course available for version 8 - WBT.

As mentioned, SRM is the major difference in the Console layout, other consoles
and forms have had things moved i.e. Categorizations and Tasks are now tabs
instead of links.

7.6.04 courses can be utilised (if already completed) along with the "What's
New" (apart from SRM).

7.6 however would put you behind somewhat due to the many features introduced
in 7.6.04 across the suite.

I think what you are looking for is Task Phase Mgmt.

Use this feature after testing thoroughly and after setting expectation with
the users.

At least in 7.6.03 this feature was error prone and caused confusion with the
users.

Also if you enable this I think you may have to redo all your change templates
to use this feature along with templates.

Pg31 ( Configuring TMS Phases) in Task Mgmt Administration Guide.

Also there is a white paper on this topic.

Re: Help finding Documentation

I think what you are looking for is Task Phase Mgmt.
Use this feature after testing thoroughly and after setting expectation
with the users.
At least in 7.6.03 this feature was error prone and caused confusion with
the users.
Also if you enable this I think you may have to redo all your change
templates to use this feature along with templates.

Pg31 ( Configuring TMS Phases) in Task Mgmt Administration Guide.
http://documents.bmc.com/supportu/documents/34/12/103412/103412.pdf

Also there is a white paper on this topic.

Re: ITSM 8 Compatibility Matrix

2012-09-25 Thread Axton
I tried looking in the PAC application but I could not find version 8 of
the Atrium CMDB in there. I looked under all these application names
(these are all the products with the string "CMDB" in the name):
 - BMC Atrium CMDB Enterprise Manager
 - BMC Atrium CMDB Enterprise Manager - Enterprise Use
 - BMC Atrium CMDB Suite

In the PAC application, under "BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite"
"8.0.00," I see this paragraph:

1) BMC Remedy IT Service Management 8.0.00 supports all of the operating
system / database combinations supported by the underlying BMC Remedy AR
System with the exception of IBM® Informix®. Please see the BMC Remedy AR
System Compatibility Matrix and the BMC Atrium Core Compatibility Matrix
for details and specific minimum version levels. Please refer the link
http://media.cms.bmc.com/documents/AR+System+8.0.00+Compatibility+Matrix.pdffor
BMC Remedy AR System Compatibility Matrix and
http://media.cms.bmc.com/documents/BMC_Atrium_Core_8_0_00_Compatibility_Matrix.pdffor
the BMC Atrium Core Compatibility Matrix.

I tried to open the URL to the the Atrium Core 8 Compatibility Matrix (
http://media.cms.bmc.com/documents/BMC_Atrium_Core_8_0_00_Compatibility_Matrix.pdf),
but I get a 404 error.

Where can I find the compatibility matrix for Atrium CMDB 8.0?

Sort of OT: SRM and Work Order Management version 8.0

2012-09-25 Thread Joe Martin D'Souza

I guess this question is for those who may have had a fair chance to play with
version 8.00

How different are these in version 8.00.. Meaning if I were to decide to go for
training for these on 7.6.04, will I find myself shooting in my foot when I
have to work with these in version 8.00?? I asked a representative from the BMC
Education Services this same question, and she had no available information to
give me about this. I was told my best bet may be to talk to a sales rep about
this but, me not being a direct customer, have no contact information to any of
the sales reps either.

I’d appreciate help with some / any BMC contacts that I could get for this..

Re: ITSM 8 Compatibility Matrix

2012-09-25 Thread Peter Adams
As in the past, the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite compatiblity document focuses on
describing compatiblity info for Remedy ITSM applications. So, in this case
here, it contains information about Remedy ITSM 8.0 applications.

If you want information about compatiblity of BMC Atrium Core 8.0 with older
versions of BMC Remedy Asset Management, then as in the past, you would have to
look at the BMC Atrium Core Compatiblity document.

The statement "8.0.00 applications are designed to optimally work with other
ITSM suite applications of the same major/minor version" refers to the fact
that if you use a mixed version stack of 7.6.04 and 8.0.00 applications, you
won't be able to benefit from all the new features built into 8.0.00 apps.

Tadeu,
Please take a look at the below link, it outlines how to be a BMC Certified
Developer.

http://www.bmc.com/education/certification-programs/BMC-Remedy-AR-System-7604-Certified-Developer.html

Looking at the education website, taking all of the classes listed as required
(assuming you need all of them), it looks like first glance cost for USD for
the first classes I saw listed, your total cost would be $11,870. This is list
of course, and there may be discounts available, etcbut basically 12K in
classes alone, and on top of that you need to add travel/lodging for the
necessary classes (two of them are online).

You don't need to be an employee of a partner company anymore to get certified,
that I was able to read at least.

Is "BMC Atrium Service Level Management" the same thing as "SLM"?

Hi,

you need the following:

System Requirements and Notes BMC Remedy IT Service Management 8.0.00 suite
requires and is compatible with the following BMC product versions (or
later):

BMC Remedy Action Request System 8.0.00

BMC Atrium Core 8.0.00

BMC Atrium Integrator 8.0.00

The BMC Remedy IT Service Management 8.0.00 suite core applications are
designed to optimally work with other ITSM suite applications of the same
major/minor version. The following list of applications - in combination
with the platform products of the same version - defines the recommended
Remedy ITSM suite configuration: BMC Service Desk 8.0.00

BMC Change Management 8.0.00

BMC Asset Management 8.0.00

BMC Knowledge Management 8.0.00

BMC Service Request Management 8.0.00

BMC Atrium Service Level Management 8.0.00

In addition, the BMC Remedy IT Service Management 8.0.00 suite applications
are also supported to work in the following configuration, as part of an
upgrade from an existing 7.6.04 environment: BMC Service Desk 7.6.04 (SP2 or
higher)

BMC Change Management 7.6.04 (SP2 or higher)

BMC Asset Management 7.6.04 (SP2 or higher)

BMC Knowledge Management 8.0.00

BMC Service Request Management 8.0.00

Are you using a load balancer? The SSL configuration is typically done at
the endpoint that the user agent connects to. This could be the load

could be the J2EE container.

There have been a number of conversations around how to do something with
the web tier, but very little information about the software/hardware stack
in use. The implementation specifics depend on what you are using. Best
suggestion for everyone on the list who wants to know how to do X with the
web configuration (context path, ssl, etc.) is to outline your

Hi,

We have an AIE Exchange Job (Type: from AR Form to flatfile) that was running
before, then suddenly stopped running. We already turned on the Debug logs for
that job but it doesn't give any errors. Instead, after the job starts, it
seems to be stuck at "Waiting for next chunk" stage and no new logs are written

but it's not doing anything.

Any ideas what may cause the job to stop at "Waiting for next chunk" status?

AIE Job - stuck at "waiting for next chunk"

2012-09-25 Thread Kali Obsum
Hi,

We have an AIE Exchange Job (Type: from AR Form to flatfile) that was
running before, then suddenly stopped running. We already turned on the
Debug logs for that job but it doesn't give any errors. Instead, after
the job starts, it seems to be stuck at "Waiting for next chunk" stage
and no new logs are written after that. Then the job just stays on in
"Running" status and never finishes, but it's not doing anything.

Any ideas what may cause the job to stop at "Waiting for next chunk"
status?

Thanks!

Regards,

Kali

Hi,

Even better than 5.1.2 and 6.3?

Are you talking about the Remedy Core AR Server here, or are you referring
to applications as well? Or maybe the client (in this case Mid-Tier)?

New Remedy Release 8.0 - Great feedback about product from one key customer of BMC Software

2012-09-25 Thread Kiran Hullule
Congratulations to the BMC Team on the 8.0 GA!
We participated in BMC's Select Market Availability (early release) program and
has been running 8.0 in production since September 4th.
There are some great new features in 8.0 (redesigned SRM interface, Social
Collaboration, Email Rules Engine, Copy/Paste Workflow elements, Wiki-style
documentation, and many more) that we're really excited about.

We upgraded from ITSM 7.6.00 over the summer and 8.0 has been one of the most
stable releases I can remember in my 12+ years developing Remedy applications.
I definitely recommend everyone take a hard look and start planning your next
upgrade sooner than later.

Happy about this release.
