HowTo Increase Size of Attachments for outgoing Emails in ITSM 7.6.04 ?

2012-11-16 Thread Oliver Nitsche
Hello ARSList,

I´m realy new at administering AR System Server 7.6.04 and
ITSM and i hope you can help a bloody beginner ;-)

Actually I had to increase the size for attachments which will be attached
to outgoing emails from 2 MB up to 50 MB.

Therefore I used the Developerstudio to modify the Form CT:Email System.

I set the Views in an overlay and modified the field property for line
“Email Attachment” in the blue box for Email Attachments at the
bottom of this form.

I have increased the value Field/Max Size up to 50 and saved all the
changes.

Then I have tested it, but the form only accepts attachments with a size,
less than 2 MB.

The save behavior occurs after a reboot of my Test System.

In the next step I set the Value for Max Size to “0”.

Here the Form also accepts only files with a size less than 2 MB.

In my last test i set the value to saved the changes and
reboot the server, but the form did not accept files who are greater than 2
MB.

When i try to attach a file greater than 2 MB i revice the
following Error Message :

The size of the attachment is too large. Maximum size of
available slot is {0} bytes. (ARERR 9210)

Is there maybe any workflow which must be edited?

It is a complete clean and fresh installation of ITSM 7.6.04 SP2.

The Mailserver has no limit for outgoing Emails.

I hope anybody can give me some hints to fix this Problem?

Thank you in advance and have a nice day / weekend ;-)

Yours OliverNormal0

Hostess made it official today ... liquidation in process. Striking
employees (now I guess you might call them ex-employees) are hoping for
another company to buy the old Hostess and they can retain their jobs and
Twinkies will live on. Hostess stores will stay open for a few days until
stock has depleted and soon shelves in groceries will be filled with some
other product.

I think we have a photo of Misi's reaction to eating one a few years ago,
we made the mistake of calling Twinkies a pastry product not a chemical mix.

Apparently it is only the US that will become Twinkie-less, the company that
produces them here in Canada
is not the same one.

Now all I have to do is get through US customs while trying to explain why I
have 600 twinkies in my luggage.

Of course the company here could start exporting to the US, hmmm.

Hi All,

In the AR System Mailbox Configuration form is there a way to configure MBOX

/var/mail/remedy@192.168.1.1 or something
else.

7.6.4 Java Api Trivia - Recursive Query Level

2012-11-16 Thread Eric Roys
Good Friday to you,

Is it possible to get the level as output from a recursive query call? There
doesn't appear to be, unless I've not found it, a way by which to retrieve it
from the results. The sql trace (on ms sql) provides that the sql is
establishing level.

Alternatively a api getlistsql using recursive query doesn't appear to be
productive (requires ";" prior to "with", although providing it ends with no
results - ever).

Appreciate any thoughts on the subject.

Kind Regards,

Eric

Have the server administrators set up a remote mount on your Linux server to
the Sun server. That way it will still look like it is local to ARS. I have
used remote mounts when I needed to mv files for an app instead of using ftp

Subject: 7.6.4 Java Api Trivia - Recursive Query Level

Good Friday to you,

Is it possible to get the level as output from a recursive query call? There
doesn't appear to be, unless I've not found it, a way by which to retrieve it
from the results. The sql trace (on ms sql) provides that the sql is
establishing level.

Alternatively a api getlistsql using recursive query doesn't appear to be
productive (requires ";" prior to "with", although providing it ends with no
results - ever).

Appreciate any thoughts on the subject.

Kind Regards,

License analysis utitily to run locally

2012-11-16 Thread David Durling
Are there any license analysis utilities that one can run locally (perhaps on
one's PC) against an AR System user log?

We only need basic fixed/floating analysis - we don't run any BMC licensed
applications.

I'm aware of the fine reputation of rrr and perhaps others, but I'm thinking my
organization will want something where I'm not sending logs to a 3rd party.

Thanks for any info -

I also wrote my own processes that saves data to custom forms. I have a perl

Re: License analysis utitily to run locally

2012-11-16 Thread Shellman, David
The free RRR version is online. You purchase you can run locally.

Since it's tied to custom form it may not be that useful to you. It's two
filters (one for modify and one for submit) that updates a record in a
collector form. It generates a count of the number of times an individual
submits or modifies a record in various forms during an hour. The count is not
as important as they actually performed an action that requires a license
within an hour. My perl script looks at how often a person used a license
within a given time period (normal business hours) over a set time period.

Since we are a global company, our highest usage of floating licenses is
between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. (This data can be found in the Server Statistics
form when enabled).

So the perl script counts the number of times that an individual
creates/modifies at least one record within a given hour from 9:00 AM up to
11:00 AM, Monday through Friday, for say the last 8 weeks. (Our greatest impact
on licenses is from the US so we exclude US holidays from the analysis.) Since
we are looking at a 2 hour block each day, 5 days a week, over 8 weeks, the
perl script can actually convert this to a percentage of time, the person has
needed a license to do their job within that time period. The script also
retrieves if the person has a float or a fixed license.

We have a filter added to the Server Statistics form that triggers based on
'Floating Write Lic Connections' greater than a certain value to let us know
when we are getting tight on licenses. When that happens we will run the
script to figure out how to rebalance fixed/floating licenses.

Misi's product uses a slightly different approach. His takes it up a notch and
looks at login and license release. His routine can also give you a suggested
fixed/floating count and with the paid version who should have a fixed vs a
floating.

Dave

At wwrug09 in las vegas we presented our cti for remedy called "via".
It is a full integration allowing complete telephone control from ars

We connect with cisco voip and quite a few other telephony and ivr systems.

It is deployed and works with 100 or more agents.

If you want to know more just ask.

Modifying Field 112

2012-11-16 Thread Martinez, Marcelo A
Hello List,
I need your help. In our previous ARS 7.1/ITSM 7.0.03, I had an escalation that
ran against the HPD:Help Desk form every few hours and looked for a specific
support group assignment (ie. Assigned Group = HR Group). If the HR Group was
the assigned support group, then it would do a set fields action and change
fieldID 112 (Assignee Groups) to a particular group (ie 100300). All
members of the HR Group were part of the 100300 group; everyone else was
not. This action allowed only members of the HR Group to be able to see
incident tickets assigned to them.
If at any point the HR group reassigned the incident to any other team, a
field, which fires on modify, would set fieldID 112 back to the original
16 (group everyone is part of).

Now, we are moving to 7.6.04. I have created the 300 group and added members,
escalation, and filter. But members NOT in the 300 group are still able to see
incidents which have Assignee Groups = 100300.
My understanding is that EntryID (field ID 1) gets its permissions from
Assignee Groups (field ID 112). I have verified my workflow and field ID 112 is
being set correctly.
I have flushed cache and restarted ARS.. to no avail. I've read the docs and as
I understand this should work. -As it did in 7.0.03.

Am I missing something here? Is 16 being set somewhere else? And is
EntryID permissions any different than what they used to be?

Thanks and good weekend,

Marcelo Martinez

Hi Marcelo,

I think you will find that 112 is not the only dynamic access group used in
ITSM. From memory field 1 is also set to allow members of group 60900 to
view data. This group is for the vendor support group.

Check the permissions on 1 to confirm.
