ARSmarts Data Manager beta program now open

2013-01-16 Thread Support

Hello List,

The beta program for ARSmarts Data Manager is now open.
You can register here to participate
to the program.

The Data Manager is a new ARSmarts module. Where the
existing modules work with AR System definitions, the Data
Manager gives you direct access to the data of your Remedy
applications.

Using ARSmarts Data Manager, you have *direct access to all
your data (ALL the fields of EVERY form)*, presented in a
simple, readable database-like format.

You can create and modify records, perform exports, and also
Copy - Paste records between forms and between AR System
servers. The Data Manager is directed to the Remedy technical
people working with large applications such as ITSM. This
new ARSmarts module will save them a lot of time.

Best regards.

In what way did strcpy change in RHEL6? I'd have thought this

We are on SQL 2005 and use Idera SQL safe and replicate the data twice daily.
Works well and compression is much better that what is provided in SQL 2005. I
hear SQL 2008 has some enhancements and will be looking into it once we are
done with the upgrade to ITSM 8

** Hi All,

Anybody can help us on this issue will be highly appreciated.

We are using ITSM 7.6.04 sp2 with SRM 7.6.04 sp2.

If any user is raising SRM using request entry console filling up
questionnaires corresponding entry gets created in SRM:Request form with
status "Waiting Approval". Once the request is approved, it changed to
"Panning" and Incident gets created. Only then the request details are
appearing in AppRequestDetails field in SRM:Request. Before Planning nothing
is stored in AppRequestDetails field.

Although the details Information is available in Provided Information in
Request Detail> Details tab.

Please let me know in which form this value gets stored before the request
turned into Planning in SRM:Request, so that I can use this in my customized
mails to sent out to Approvers.

I hope i am able to make you understand the scenario.

Waiting for urgent help .

Re: Different date format when setting Date/Time field into a Character Field when moving from Solaris to Linux

2013-01-16 Thread itsm.support
Hi,

You need to make sure both Solaris 9 and RHEL 6 recognize the common date
format. You can achieve this by setting the ARDATE environment variable.

Field when moving from Solaris to Linux

**

We are moving our 7.6.04 servers from Solaris 9 to RHEL 6 and we have
noticed that when you do a filter set fields and set the value of a
Date/Time field into a character field, I get a differently formatted time
value on our Solaris server as opposed to our new Linux servers, this is
causing an external Web Service call to fail.

The Solaris server sets the value as 01/14/13 22:00:00

The RHEL server sets the value as 01/14/2013 09:17:19 AM

Both servers have

LANG= en_US.UTF-8

time zone of GMT

LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8

NLS_LANG=american_america.AL32UTF8

Both servers are 7.6.04 SP4 and using ORACLE 10G database and the database
time zones are the same and the 2 database instances are on the same
physical server

I have no clue what is causing this difference in the way the server is
formatting the value, I suspect is a difference in the locale setting
between Solaris and RHEL6, but I have no clue where to look, Ideas?

Re: BMC Mobility for ITSM

2013-01-16 Thread Pierson, Shawn
I would be curious (but not enough to set up a poll) to see how necessary
offline updates are given how ubiquitous WiFi and mobile connectivity is.

There are other benefits that I can think of, such as taking advantage of
integrations and other software on the phone. For example I could take a
picture of a bar code on my phone and if the BMC application is configured to
allow an intent to push to it, I would be able to pop the image over to the BMC
app and have it read the barcode and launch a view of the CI. You could
integrate Google Maps with your application to calculate a drive time (with
traffic) to a customer's house to display on the ticket if you had a utility
provisioning application. Another thing you could do would be to basically
recreate the Alert tool to pop notifications up on your screen without you
needing to leave the application open on your screen. You also have the
benefit of being able to format things differently to take advantage of the
different screen sizes and other form differences on the clients, so you can
easily provide a different interface to iOS, Android, etc. and the tablet
interfaces of each can display even more data.

Not that the BMC application necessarily does any of this currently, but it's
relatively simple on a modern mobile OS such as Android (I have no experience
developing iOS applications), but a lot of these things are not possible on a
mobile browser as far as I can figure out.

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson

Re: Knowledge Management 7.6.4 license?

2013-01-16 Thread Easter, David
Hi Howard,

No user licenses come with the module. User capacity is purchased separately
from the application.

It is not correct to say the RKM User licenses are paper - they are not. You
require an AR System user license to be able to perform administration or
analyst functions within RKM. This is what is included with the RKM User
bundle. Purchase of the RKM User bundle provides legal enablement to use the
AR System User license to perform those actions within RKM.

It is correct that because RKM shares the same user licenses as AR System
that a unique RKM user license is not tracked within, for example, the License
Usage Report. There is not currently a convenient method to determine which
users allocated an AR System user license are using RKM and which are not.
Some customers have enabled auditing on key RKM forms to track when a user
utilizes the RKM product - and this can be used for internal confirmation that
the application is being used.

The Self-Service End User license is "paper" - but is needed to provide legal
enablement to end users using read licenses to access either SRM or RKM.

to PROGRESS software. It seems to have a pretty neat and a more user
friendly interface. Has anyone used this before, on the same machine as
where the Dev Studio is installed and had any issues with the JVM's of each
other fighting each other for resources?

I have only 4 GB on the laptop provided to me by my customer, and since both
the Remedy Development Studio and Actional Diagnostics create an instance of
JVM, I want to be prepared for them clashing with each other for resources
which is why I thought I'd put this out here to the list and ask you'll if
any of you'll used both these tools together.

I'm installing that tool even as I write this email, and the first thing I
would be doing after the install is look for a potential configuration file
that may initiate the JVM for Actional Diagnostics, and trim down the
startup and max memory on it so as to give my dev studio more, but if there
is more that can be done to avoid any potential resource clashes, I would
like to know about it.

I appreciate any comments on your experience on using the two tools together
at the same time from the same machine.

Cheers

Joe

Audit a Character Field

Andy,
I never tried it but you should be able to turn on the Audit property of a
diary field. Though it seems redundant unless you want to review Diary updates
in a separate form with each entry a separate record.

I would like to log all changes made to a Character and have that stored in a

Ok Use a filter with a Run If to do TR.Character_Field != $NULL$
Then a Set Fields to the Diary field using Character_Field.
That will add the changed value of the Character field to the diary field.

Re: Knowledge Management 7.6.4 license?

Thanks. I guess my confusion is the old version of RKM and the current one. I
saw that we own 7 of something called a knowledge management specialist
floating add on license.

So I am trying to understand what licenses (other then AR or ITSM) are needed
for the 5 different roles that use 7.6.4 RKM.

For example does the knowledge viewer part of this RKM bundle?

I tried to find some doc that spells this out, but with no luck. So I you know
of something please point it out.

Take care and thanks

Problem testing a WSDL using soapUI...

2013-01-16 Thread Joe D'Souza
I get errors when testing a WSDL using soapUI while trying to load the WSDL
into soapUI itself.

As a result I can’t even get beyond that point. I have obscured the server
names to protect the data of the customer. It appears as though there is a
problem with attachment fields created on an AR form, as well as keywords
used as defaults for some of the fields as defaults ($TIMESTAMP$, $DATE$ and
$TIME$) when loading the WSDL into soapUI…

The WSDL loads fine into another diagnostic tool, called Actional
Diagnostics, but can’t get it working on it after that as I am not too
familiar with Actional Diagnostics so I might possibly be doing something
wrong there. I’m also not trying to eliminate a possible problem with the
WSDL. It is a web service created from a test form which will later be used
towards an integration. I was attempting to create a POC (proof of concept)
that I could get BizTalk and Remedy talking to each other using WS.

At the moment I cannot get into the troubleshooting of why its not working
with Actional Diagnostics after it successfully loads the WSDL, as I do not
have access to the server to check out the arjavaplugin logs – I have
requested for access and yet to get it. So I’ll leave that for later.
Meanwhile I’d like to know what may be the possible issues why soapUI
doesn’t like my WSDL..

Has anyone run into a similar issue?

Joe

Re: OT: Sort of.. Tools for testing WSDL's

2013-01-16 Thread Joe D'Souza
Yes I have too as well but I noticed (which I had not noticed in the past) a
eclipse plugin available for download on sourceforge.. I don't recall seeing
it before but then again in the past I didn't quite bother to browse around
when on their site..

I was wondering if anyone used that plugin with the Dev Studio considering
its an eclipse universe too..

I have downloaded it but not 'connected' it yet.

I am using SoapUI as a standalone application to test Remedy web services.

Re: Audit a Character Field

2013-01-16 Thread Ben Chernys
The standard OOTB way is quite simple:

You'll need a display only (change flag off) field to hold the old value
(through a set fields).

If you want to track changes such as setting a value to NULL, the below
qualification is insufficient. Presumably you'll also not want to audit the
first (create) change.

So,

1) Have a spare DO field of the same type available

2) Filter: run on Modify, and Merge if desired

a.   Qual:if 'field != 'DB.field'

b. Actions:

   i. set
fields DO = DB.field (need a query here)

 ii. Set
fields log field = "date " + $DATE$ + +"user " + $USER$ + +

"field changed from " + $DO$ + " to " + " $field$ + "."

iii. set
fields DO = $NULL$

Comments from comments in a user controlled auditing facility (automatic
filter generation bit of code)

// build a Diary Field audit filter

//   Nme:   wFltrNm 'df'

//   Sch:   wSchModify

//   Ord:   wOrd

//   Qual:  'wFid' != 'DB.wFId'

//   Action Set Field 'wTmpId' = Qry wSch '1' = "$1$"

// Action Set Field 'wDryId' = "field wFlbl changed from " +
$wTmpId$ + " to " + $wFid$

//   Action Set Field 'wTmpId' = $NULL$

Cheers

Ben

Andy,

Ok Use a filter with a Run If to do TR.Character_Field != $NULL$

Then a Set Fields to the Diary field using Character_Field.

That will add the changed value of the Character field to the diary field.

I'm sorry. I meant to ask if there was a way to track changes to a
Character field, not a Diary.

I would like to log all changes made to a Character and have that stored in
a Diary field. I would like to know what value was there before and after a
change is made as well as who made it.

Andy,

I never tried it but you should be able to turn on the Audit property of a
diary field. Though it seems redundant unless you want to review Diary
updates in a separate form with each entry a separate record.

Thank you,

Is there a way to log changes to a dairy?

I would like to log all changes and who made them to a dairy field that I
can review.

Any ideas on the best way to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Thanks for sharing. We are upgrading to ITSM 7.6.04 on Oracle 11g.
The option Oracle Golden Gate looks good to replicate data for Analytics, does
someone use this technology and has a good experience?
