Amanda,

My last project wrapped up in October so I'm looking right now.
Over the last 17 years of Remedy work all of my favorite projects have been

BMC Mobility and LDAP Authentication

2013-12-16 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Good afternoon,

I can't find any information on BMC's (extremely slow today) site, whether in
their knowledge base, product documentation, or on developer network concerning
how authentication works with BMC Mobility for Incidents. We've gotten it to
work with our test users that have hardcoded passwords, but it doesn't seem to
authenticate via LDAP against Active Directory.

We're going to open a ticket with BMC, but I wanted to check here as well. Do
any of you know what would be required to get Mobility working with LDAP
enabled accounts?

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson

Re: Data Wizard Support Group name change did not update Work Orders

2013-12-16 Thread Lucero, Michelle
Hi, Kay:

Yes, this is a known BMC issue we encountered several months ago in ITSM 8.1.
An enhancement request (RFE SW00453251)has already been submitted.

In the interim, BMC has provided a work-around to address “this”.

The work-around is actually in the ITSM 8.1 documentation and includes adding
forms for the data wizard to update.

Look under the section for "Modifying the Data Wizard to work with new forms".
Give yourself some time to read through this section to really understand the
implications. The good news is that once you add the forms, you won’t have to
do it again.

The data wizard uses a series of SQL statements to update the data. It’s fun
once you get into it.

Good Luck to you .
Michelle

Re: Error with Developer Studio after install on Windows 7 64 bit -- RESOLVED ....

2013-12-16 Thread Garrison, Sean (Norcross)
I just figured out what the issue was. I remembered I needed to put these two
libraries in the same directory as the user tool to make it work:

MSVCR71.dll
And
MSVCP71.dll

I put them in the same folder where I launch dev studio and it started working.
I read in a forum somewhere that those dlls were part of an old .NET install
and that if you don't have them a lot of programs require these dlls to launch.
I had to get someone to send me the dlls from their machine to get it to work.

Hi,
The directory to which Developer Studio is installed requires full Read/Write
options to be able to start correctly. You may need to take ownership over as
the local user for the directory and sub-directories.

Are you sure you are installing as a full, unimpeded, no-cute-GP-stuff,
local-admin user with full read-write-execute permissions *everywhere* on the
computer?

After the install, check the devstudio.ini file in Dev-Studio's install path
(typically: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\DeveloperStudio) and ensure
its pointing to the correct java and that the java files actually exist at the
path listed (64-bit java should be fine).

Also, set the memory in the devstudio.ini file on the low side (-Xms256m and
-Xmx512m) to troubleshoot. You can bump it up later.

Here's the contents of my devstudio.ini file:

-vm
C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe
-vmargs
-Xms1024m
-Xmx2048m

If it still won't work after all that, as a last ditch effort before contacting
BMC support, I would re-download the java installer (from Oracle) and the BMC
installer to make sure I've got known-good installers. You should not need to
uninstall anything and it should over-write itself with each install attempt.

Otherwise, it's probably time to get BMC support involved...

Thanks,
JDHood

Re: Data Wizard Support Group name change did not update Work Orders

2013-12-16 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Although BMC doesn't support it, I'd consider (with heavy testing, of course) a
SQL route to bypass all workflow altogether. I haven't done this so you may
run into other issues such as the assignment log, loss of the update in the
audit log, etc. but it could be a quick and dirty way to get it done.

Just FYI, also check out your templates for ITSM applications. For some reason
I think not just Work Orders are missed, but something on either Incident or
Change Templates as well. Maybe the visibility?

Re: User being disabled

2013-12-16 Thread Joe D'Souza
It will be difficult to answer that without knowing a little more about your
environment and actually doing some poking around but since it seems to be a
change to a user profile, I would go with checking some of the integrations
which either add or modify user accounts, which might have probably caused
that updated even if was not supposed to, because of some defective coding
or wrong data supplied from another external system.

The other possible explanation is someone actually did it either
intentionally or accidentally, and it might have been possible to know that
if you had not already reverted the user back by checking the last modified
by username - perhaps too late for that now unless you have some sort of an
auditing process in place.

Cheers

Re: MidTier 7.6.4 SP 4 HF 101413 & Chrome

2013-12-16 Thread Hodgdon, Paul
We are running 7.6.04 SP2 and users cannot log into Remedy with Chrome v30.
Chrome v27 still works fine. Anyone know what changed in the most recent
versions or what setting is not allowing users to log in?

Well pointed out!

It might be that IE is still the corporate standard out there. I find that IE
is the corporate standard - but advanced users and tech folks have moved on to
better things like Chrome.
It would be good if "private Brian" sorry - BMC could follow the lead and
support Chrome.

While it's not specific to your current issue also be aware that 8.1 Mid Tier
is less compatible with Chrome as well. There are quite a few things that
don't render correctly on my hybrid ARS 8.1/ITSM 7.6.4 environment (but oddly
seems to work better on my ARS and ITSM 8.1 environment.) Hopefully as a
private organization BMC can devote the right resources to making their product
compatible with what is the most widely used web browser since early 2012.

While they're at it, hopefully they can hire some Android developers too and
make that the leading platform for their mobile products since it overtook iOS
quite some time ago. Not supporting Chrome irritates our I.T. staff and users,
while not having a clean Android interface or a timely release schedule for
their Android versions of mobile products irritates management that are
potentially interested in things like Mobility or MyIT.

It was working on 7.6.4 SP 4 & it works on the SP 5 10/18/2013 HF.
Looks like we are just going to upgrade our MidTier to SP5 HF 101813 this week
to get those people back to working. The corp standard here is to use IE so
they will be forced to follow the standards for about a week.

Was it working before applying hot fix ?

Flush mid tier cache, browser cache, restart tomcat and see if it works.

User being disabled

2013-12-16 Thread Ron Young
User 7.6/Dev 8.6

Question for ya...Why would a user become disabled instead if being current. A
supervisor tried to assign one of our technicians a job...the technician is
usually in a specific group. I looked at the technicians user preferences and
everything compared pretty much to another technician in the same group that
was shown when this supervisor tried to send to the other technician. The only
difference was that the one shown...the current button was selected and for the
other the disabled button was selected. This user was in the list in the recent
past so I guess marked current. I changed it to current and he shows up now.
What would cause a user to go from current to disabled without someone manually
going in and changing that setting?

Thanks!

Re: How Application-Bus-Time-Add will work in BMC remedy

2013-12-16 Thread Brittain, Mark
$Target Delivery Lead Time$" is the tag on the Business Hours form and $Global
Country$ is the ag on the Business Holiday form (or the other way around) The
business time parameters will be found there. The 4 translates to days. 1=
seconds, 2 = minutes, 3 = hours, 4 = days

Sagar,

Check out using "Business Time" functionality in the docs - don't know if this
has changed since 5.1, but even newer docs should give you an idea.

Re: API : Override ARERR [9084] User is currently connected from another machine

2013-12-16 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

If a user forgot to logout from one place, he can override the session on the
next machine he sits down in front of. That is allowed, and should work the
same way of the BMC-built clients a home grown API.

There is a technical limitation in place that will prevent doing this multiple
times.

I am still not sure why you did not succeed, as the settings you supplied us
from start seems to be the correct ones. Unless BMC has prevented the override
occuring from home grown API-programs...

As I said before, it is none of that. BMC updated the system to not
allow the user to connect from more than one system at a time. This is
designed by Remedy to stop people from bypassing their license rules,
 there
is no bypass, and attempts to bypass it are attempts to bypass
 limitations,
 which isn't a good idea.

How Application-Bus-Time-Add will work in BMC remedy

2013-12-16 Thread vidyasagar kommu
Hi All,

We are working completely customized BMC remedy application 5.1 version.
I have found one filter which is firing on Submit Mode .
In that filter setfield action Exact code is below
 'Target Date'=$PROCESS$ Application-Bus-Time-Add "$TIMESTAMP$"
"$Target Delivery Lead Time$" "4" "$Global Country$"

Target Date and Global Country field is present in my form .

Could you please explain paramaters of above syntax ,how the Target
Date field value will set ?
 what does mean by "4"?

This is very urgent please reply ASAP.

Thanks
Sagar
