Company Access issue for User through LDAP

2014-03-06 Thread Sumit Vasudev
Hi Experts,

I am facing one issue with People records. Records are created in People form
through LDAP.
All the people have "Unrestricted Access" selected through the filter which is
sending records from "Staging" Form to "People" Form.

But when logged in through that people profile, User didn't have access to any
company.

When I deselect the "Unrestricted Access" check box from People form and save
the record and again select "Unrestricted Access" through People form and save
the record, then issue get resolve and people will get access to all the
companies.

Can anyone please explain me, why this uneven behavior when "Unrestricted
Access" is set from filter Push field action,
User din't get access to the Company but when same thing did from people form
User will get access for the Company.

Regards,
Sumit Vasudev

Hey Misi thanks for responding. I know how to find the tables from
database and I also know how to use ar schema metadata form.

Just wanted to know if ar system really creates individual tables for
each regular form when we add a currency fields.

As per your comments we it seems there is only a single table which
stores indexes for all form - Please confirm this.

Thank you Misi.

Re: Currency table and Index table for a form

2014-03-06 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

The two main currency forms are:
AR System Currency Codes - allowed currencies of your system
AR System Currency Ratios - dates and exchange rate

To find out which table things are stored in, you can check the form "AR
System Metadata: arschema", or the arschema-table directly. It contain a
mapping between the Name and the SchemaId.

The SchemaId is a number, for example 123. This means that the man table of
the form is T123. Note that the numbers for a specific form varies between
systems.

All normal forms has at least one index for the request id field. They can
also have more indexes defined through Developer Studio under form properties.
You can also find these indexes in the form "AR System Metadata: schema_index"
table or the corresponding table schema_index.

One more thing how can I find the index table for a corresponding form? Does AR

Re: Change Template - Authoring group limitation

2014-03-06 Thread Ben Chernys
It should be no problem. They are a separate record. That should alleviate
enough risk that you should try it - at least on a dev environment. Of
course, you may run into issues with GUI elements (table field not chunked
etc) but that risk seems to be getting lower over the releases. I've done
lots but I would guess no more than 100. I just sometimes see them as they
zoom by - you know 92 of 97, 93 of 97, etc. J

There’s been so much about this, I decided to pipe in with: for Meta-Update
customers, one of the samples sets server logging on.

You would just point the script at each server and turn it on. Or even better,
repeat the two lines for each server in a batch file.

Hi,

The JVM would not be involved at all in setting the server side log path.

The standard path for the logs in Windows is something like "C:\Program
Files\AR System\Server\Db\". It is just no way that these kind of paths would
have a problem working.

Ok instead of Apply just adds the close of the Windows. It is the same thing as
pressing Apply and then closing the Window manually.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your response.

My system is set up to not accept unqualified searches.
Running this report is possible both from Birt Designer and manually from

There is a qual inside the report 1=1, maybe your suggestion is better - to use

I am a little bit suspicious because I only can't run the report when it is

The DMT solution does not support updating of existing records, Effective
Technologies includes this capability and can use different fields as the
primary key such as login ID or Corporate ID. You could create a new form that
you could the new information into for group membership and permissions, you
can review the DMT spreadsheet to review how to create a profile that also
includes permission and functional roles to determing hoe you could then create
profiles in ITSM to review how the workflow works.

I have provided some thoughts and I expect the list to give your more
suggestions.

We have about 8000 Users that were loaded into our CTM:People form before we

Of the 8000, only about 300 are actual support people.

I had originally thought that I could just create the templates and associate

Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a way to go back and associate
everyone with all of the Access/Permission groups and Support Groups/Functional

Ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

If you go to the App Admin>Custom>Foundation, there is a People Management
console and you can do Bulk updates based on specific qualifications and
then add the permissions that you need. Check that out.

Adding Permissions and Functional Roles

2014-03-06 Thread Warren R. Baltimore II
I've got a problem that I'm afraid could have been avoided with better
planning on my part.

ARS 7.6.04 Patch 5
ITSM 7.6.04

We have about 8000 Users that were loaded into our CTM:People form before
we knew what groups they would be members of as well as the permissions
they would need.

Of the 8000, only about 300 are actual support people.

I had originally thought that I could just create the templates and
associate an individual via the templates. What I didn't know (I've been
using ITSM 5.5 for the last 5 years, so this is all very new to me), is
that if I did that, it would overwrite all of the individuals information
(phone, address, etc.).

I've tried identifying something to help me in the manual, but I'm afraid I
just haven't been able to spend as much time as I need

Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a way to go back and
associate everyone with all of the Access/Permission groups and Support
Groups/Functional Roles that doesn't require to me go to each individual
and add it manually?

Ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Adding a column to Overview Console: Not Working

2014-03-06 Thread Champagne, Susan
Thank you Shambo,
Anusha has lead me in the right direction by telling me I had to create
overlays of the nested panel fields. Also, I had to flush my Mid Tier cache
before it would appear; restarting the AR Server service was not enough.

Interesting thing is that my Product Name field is displaying "Submitter" data,
and not product data. Back at it

Hi Susan,
Please check the view overlay is already there and the field is added in view
overlay before trying to create field overlay of the table.
Maybe that will help.
Regarding the changes not getting relected because system by default picks up
the Overlay object and not the original and you need to reconcile manually for
any changes you made to field.

Shambo.

Hi folks,
I have read several of the articles already written regarding this topic, and I
believe I have followed directions, but I can't seem to get my column to show
up in the Overview Console.

My specs
Remedy AR System 7.6.04 SP3
Mid Tier 7.6.04 SP4
IE 8.0

My goal: to show the "Product Name" field, from the HPD:Help Desk form, in the
z2TH_ConsolidateTable1 table field, on the Overview Console form.

Steps I have taken:

1. Found that the "Product Name" field already exists on the
SHR:ARDBC_OverviewConsole form, so I did not create a new one, as instructions
state.

2. Found that the "Product Name" field already exists on the
SHR:ARDBC_OverviewConsole Template form, so I did not create a new one, as
instructions state.

3. I created the mapping to HPD:Help Desk in the SHR:ARDBCFields form.
Below are my entries.

a. Field ID: 240001002

b. Form GUID: MAINHELPDESK

c. Vendor Field: 240001002

d. Submitter: ARSystem

4. In Developer Studio, on the SHR:OverviewConsole form, I attempted to
add the Product Name field to the column list entries on the
z2TH_ConsolidateTable1 table, but the arrows were greyed out, which didn't
allow me to perform this step.

5. I attempted to create an overlay of the table field, but the option to
do so was not there (The form was already set as an overlay due to previous
customizations.)

6. I changed from Best Practice mode to Base Development mode and I was
then able to add the Product Name field to the column list entries. I can see,
in Developer Studio, the column header that I just added.

7. I gave Public View permissions.

8. I changed the Database name from being "Column 2" to being "Product
Name".

9. I saved the changes in Developer Studio.

10. I restarted the BMC Remedy AR Server service (instructions say to stop
and start arplugin service, but that does not exist with my system).

11. I cleared my Internet Explorer cache before logging into Mid Tier to
test. No luck...the Product Name field is not there.

12. I went to the Mid Tier configuration tool and flushed the cache.

13. I waited for 30 minutes; cleared my IE cache again; still no luck.

If you have any suggestions, I would be very grateful if you could share them,
please.

Re: Status and Assignment LOg

2014-03-06 Thread Terje Moglestue
Neha,

Personally I don't like how BMC makes audits. Even the new audit that was
introduced some time ago - is not on the top on my list.

What I suggested is very simple - (and old fashion if you ask AR System
developers). I like it because it works, fast to develop, can be a stand-alone
functionality, you can make very good report out of it, and you can audit
almost anything you want,

It you include InstanceID within the audit can quickly create a table field
within HPD:Help Desk that shows changes that is important for you. I find the
existing audit within ITSM 7, 7.5, 7.6 and 8.1 difficult to read when acting as
a support engineer/manager. A classical audit log will solve this.

Any impact? Not really - except for the classical argument - you must use
out-of-the-box functionality - no customisations are allowed. If you build it
as a standalone it should not stop you from any upgrades of BMC. If you got
individuals who makes reports they would love. We made audits like this going
back to the old release of AR System.

Terje

Naha,

I normally create an audit form with the following fields:

Record, Submitter, Audit, From, To, Timestamp

Records: Is reference to the ticket or record I am auditing.
Submitter: The person who made the change.
Audit: What you are auditing. This is a character field and could hold the
value, Status, Assigned Group, Priority
From: Is the old value
To: Is the new value.
Timestamp: When the change took place.

It could then look like this:
INC1, Paul, Status, Assigned, Pending,
INC2, Paul, Status, Pending, In Progress
INC5, Ann, Assignee, Peter, Paul
INC1, Paul, Priority, High, Medium

The table grows quickly, correct indexing and field definition are important.
You can quickly make very good reports of this table. You then need to create
filters that feeds the audit table on submit and on modifications. If I
remember correctly I also added a few control fields - it all depends on the
requirements.

It is a few years since I did this now - it is very simple - and works very
well. You also need to take a look at the audit functionality that comes with
ARS System. If you use the audit system that comes with AR System there are no
need to create the filters that feeds the audit table. It will do it for you.

Good luck,

Good luck,
Terje

Thanks for the reply.
I saw Audit Style in HPD:Help Desk form for my application is set as "Log
Style", and therefore changed field values are stored in Log field of Audit Log
Form.
I need to show following Incident history to user -
>From StatusTo Status From Group To Group Start DateEnd Date

I think, If I changed Form Audit Style to "Form Style", then alos I can not get
above information straightforward.
If anyone has also fulfilled same requirement, then please suggest me for the
approach to follow.

Neha

maybe audit log forms can help you with your requirement. first you have to
check if you have put the right audit configuration based on the fields you
want to keep record.

Hi List,

Can you please assist me in below issue?

Is there any form in BMC Remedy ITSM 7.6, which holds past history of HPD:Help
Desk
I mean form which stores,
1. Current and previous status
2. Current and previous assignment information.

I found in Assignment Log form only information related to assignment is
available, but not the Status information.
