 Hi Pavan,

Please find my responses inline. Thanks!

 Bottomline:
 1) Compile all the 65 INVALID objects, in fact they are the reason for
longer run of your ITSM upgrade installer. They should have been identified
before running installer and must have been re-compiled. Keep checking for
them when installer is running and compile them.
 2) You have trouble importing one join form. Take backup of base forms in
your environment. Import OOTB 8.1.02 version of the form directly.

 Hi Aditya,

Thank you very much for your reply. Please find my answers below.

 1) Which database you have? If you have Oracle, did you check for
 INVALID objects while installing/upgrading?
ANS: Oracle, How do we checked INVALID objects by the below query and it
 fetched almost 65 entries
 select object_name,object_type,status from user_objects where
 status='INVALID';

[APS]: Yes, this query gives you count of INVALID objects. You can
re-compile these objects using Compile option from whatever software you
are using. or run query to compile those objects.

Any suggestions to correct them is highly appreciated, also I would like
to know why they are INVALID. How to troubleshoot that?

There are INVALID objects because of the fact that there are some
structural differences between how Remedy and Oracle creates tables and
views. But this is not a big problem as those INVALID objects can be
Compiled and then everything would be in sync.

 2) Hope you must have seen ITSM install log files, but would again
suggest you to look through logs and find out which .def failed to import.
 For ex chg_deplapp.def etc
ANS: Fixed all most all the issues that we could see in the logs. The
issues which we are seeing now is while importing
CHG:ChangeRelationshipinterface form, which does not exist in 7.6.03 but
seems like newly added in 8.1.02

[APS]: I believe you have already followed recommended upgrade path
 7.6.03 to 7.6.04 to 8.1.02.
Since this form doesn't exist in 7.6.03, I would like to try out
 following:
 1. Identify the def to which it belong like chg_deplapp**.def and try to
import this form alone from 8.1.02_install folder.
 2. If unable to find the def, you can try importing def of this form
alone obtained from an OOTB environment. Please note this is a join form so
you should have the base forms inn your environment
 CHG:ChangeRelationshipinterface - CHG:Associations + CHG:ChangeInterface

 3) Go through all INC/PBM/CHG and import all the failed def files.
ANS: imported all the def files related to INC and PBM only facing
issues while importing chg_deplapp.def and especially with
 CHG:ChangeRelationshipinterface form.

[APS]: You can try importing def of this form alone obtained from an
 OOTB environment.

 4) If you are facing issues with specific form import also - suggest you
to modify them, save changes and again try to import them.
ANS: Since we are only facing issues with
CHG:ChangeRelationshipinterface form, is that fine modifying that form?
My only concern is the above mentioned form does not exist in 7.603. We
are upgrading ITSM from 7.6.03 to 8.1.02.

[APS]: As you said, this form doesn't exist in old environment and might
be newly added one. Would suggest take backup of base forms and import the
newly added join form obtained from an OOTB environement.

Please let me now your thoughts and any suggestions to move forward!!

 Thanks once again.

Re: Refresh my Memory Please

2015-03-25 Thread Charlie Lotridge
Doug,

You should not need any middleware to do this.

It's not clear if this is what you're trying, but I'd recommend creating a
MS SQL view that pulls the data from the remote DB.

One advantage is that if you can successfully query the SQL view in (say)
SQL Server Management Studio query window (using the Remedy account), then
the ARS server will have no problem querying it either and should be
blissfully unaware that the data is coming from a remote source. I.e., if
there are any problems with the connection, they'll show up when you try to
directly SELECT from the SQL view.

Another advantage is that it isolates ARS from any changes you may make to
this data source. E.g., should you decided to pull the remote data into a
local table, you'd just need to reconfigure the SQL view to point to the
local data, and you would not need to change the Remedy view at all.

Hope this helps.

Chris,
Write a batch file/perl script/your favorite language that will get the
variable and it's value and put it in the output of the script. Put the
script on all of your environments. Create a filter that does a set-field
run-process that populates a field with the output from that script, then
do whatever you want with the output :)

Re: Is it possible to pass data from a Change Request to a System variable?

2015-03-25 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
In a filter a simple Set Fields with PROCESS action can get an environment
variable from the server

On Windows
$PROCESS$ cmd /c echo %VARIABLE%
On Unix/Linux
$PROCESS$ echo $VARIABLE

i.e. To get the TEMP location
In a set fields action set a character field to
$PROCESS$ cmd /c echo %TEMP%

NOTE: You may then have to do a replace on the field to remove the return at
the end (Some versions of *nix will allow you to do echo –n $VARIABLE which
will output without the trailing newline)

Chris,
Write a batch file/perl script/your favorite language that will get the
variable and it's value and put it in the output of the script. Put the script
on all of your environments. Create a filter that does a set-field run-process
that populates a field with the output from that script, then do whatever you
want with the output :)

Re: 7.6.04 Install question...

2015-03-25 Thread Walters, Mark
If it’s getting to point where it’s trying to start the server there should be
an arerror.log which may help. Is the arserver.exe shown in the task list and
what happens if you try and run the server from the command line?

Re: Upgrading from 7.1 to 7.76.04 version on Window 2012 R2 Server.

2015-03-25 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

Where I am at I have no access to a 7.1 server to test the exact behavior of
the installer, but it seems like the installer is not picking up the previous
installation on this machine. Or are you installing 7.6.04 on a new machine
against an old 7.1 database instance?

Have you verified the OS/DB-client versions for 7.1 and 7.6.04?

Contact support. Or install a clean 7.1 system and do a 7.6.04 upgrade on that
system. This will show you how it should behave.

 Hi All,

When I tried for Remedy Upgrade from 7.1 to 7.6.04, I received the
 below error message.

 Please advise on this.

 Windows 2013 R2 Server

Database SQL 2005 (While Upgrading we are pointing to old DB)

 Installed JRE and JDK successfully.

 DEP configured.

Hi Karthick,

Are you providing proper sa password and SQL server details such as db hostname
and port.

As per your screenshot it seems installer is not able to resolve with db
details provided.
