100% agree with you appojo about that decision being worse than
anything else for AP. Far bigger effect here than anything else
that happened.

What this City could have been if the middle class wasn't gone for
so many years.

Glad to see the middle class is making a comeback.

never win
a vote with one member, and then refused to regionalize, hindsight

Now rental single family homes on the westside are being sold tenants

They were single family homes. Not chopped up cubicles for warehousing
the less fortunate to colect section 8 funds. True mutlifamiles or
those that are up to code should be fine. You just have to convince the
new owner. were they looking for a beach home or for an investment.

The city had and still has plenty of opportunity to build affordable
housing. Start at Spingwood, then the block at Landford and 2nd then
work the way around Dewitt. Then you have the scatttered sites etc.

Look at long branch, they managed to knock down low income housing
and rebuild it. Decent looking homes etc. A mini version of the beloved
pier village.

As i stated before, when the concept of the UEZ zones were developed,
the goal was to bring in retailers and jobs to the urban areas where
people and business was needed. Monies spent go back to help the ENTIRE
area. The 3% tax was an incentive. For places like Elizabeth, they had
the room to attract the centers, Ikea etc.

Here is one study of the UEZ and impacts.

Sounds like sour grapes.

Last year you objected when I said Keady needed a political handler.
You objected to the term. Fine call it somehting else. Call it
advisor. Call it a friend. Too bad for him he listened to you and
not me.

He is terrible at delivering his messages. In this past quarter he
has ticked off the stand up for asbury people, the homeowners, the
Italians, the business owners... who's next?

When Bruno asked him to read the letter, Jim should have told him to
read it himself. It was painful to watch him read that letter into
the record about himself. If he had a friend in the audience to
look to, so that friend could shake his head no when Jimmy asked
him, Keady would be better off. He looked emasculated reading that
letter.

I haven't seen the letter yet but had it read to me. SIgn by Al

Facts are wrong. Debbie voted to censure Keady, so clearly she
wasn't happy with him either. She said when they email her the
letter, she never opened it to read it. Her objection to it was the
tone and strength of the letter. She didn't back away from the
message.

Crucify someone (Keady) for telling the truth.

No. Keady is the guy that reads books to the public from the dais
(how condescending). His favorite line is You are not entitled to
your own facts. Well here the fact he cited he can't support in
the slightest.

Why not just say 300 Bloods? 400? 500? There's no support for
those numbers either.

The TRUTH always ins. Never be afraid of it.

Aside from it not being the truth, that wasn't the real problem.
The real problem was venue.

The Asbury Park Press we will be in often enough, and it is two
counties.

ABC News is 3 states and we go years without a mention on there.
Years! So, when they come, if you are a City official, you don't
ask them to look at your pock mark and put a magnifying glass on it
(as in lie to make it bigger). As a City Official, you work in that
position to put your best on. Not a lie, just put on your best.

Keady was grandstanding. 200 Bloods will help his mystique with his
old CBA friends that he's workin' in the hood.

He's a bull in a China Shop.

Those leading the UEZ better smarten
up. Their efforts would benefit AP and its merchants more if
directed towards getting the waterfront developed as promised.

Spoken like a man who doesn't know what a UEZ does.

You can do all the programs and First Nights you want. If you
leave
the waterfront in that condition this place is going NOWHERE.
Develop it as it should be and 95% of your ills would dissappear.

Then Jim Keady disagrees with you whole-heartedly. You two should
have gotten your talking points straight before you posted.

Jim Keady is no longer blaming a lack of basketballs for west-side
violence. Now, in a most reckless and rediculous fashion, he claims
that the West Side folks are upset because the Beachfront IS being

Not that it isn't being built as you suggest above Dan. Keady said
the fact that it IS being built is making the folks on the West
fearful they will be pushed out, so that's why they are having
problems. Exactly the opposite of what you say.

Then he tells the Coaster that the West side is intentionally acting
up to make bad press so the waterfront redevelopment will fail.

Of all the desperate, filthy, awful lies to tell to deflect
attention from himself, that is the lowest. He is the one that is
making the City look bad so he gets that response from the UEZ, and
he blames the people instead. How low.

Jim Keady wants redevelopment on the waterfront stopped so he can
turn it into his own personal giant soup kitchen (before he leaves).

That's right UEZ, try to block out the sunlight. You don't have
enough hands. Fools. Get the majority on the Council to do its job
with this redevelopment. 4 years too late.

Do you have any idea what people you just called fools? Some of
this City's best and most hard-working people sit on that board (as
volunteers).

Maybe you can help Jim Keady move.

2006-11-02 Thread Hinge
Jim Keady is no longer blaming a lack of basketballs for west-side
violence. Now, in a most reckless and rediculous fashion, he claims
that the West Side folks are upset because the Beachfront IS being
built.

the fact that it IS being built is making the folks on the West
fearful they will be pushed out, so that's why they are having

Come on Tommy, are you serious?
Let's look at this subjectively...If JK claims that west side people are upset
about the
beachfront development, don't you think it's possible that they would be upset,
becasuse as
far as I can see, there's nothing as for redevelopment going on in their
community.
Secondly, it's entirely possible for west side people to feel like they are
being pushed out.
I think the problem here is that you lack empathy and understanding for what
it's like to live
on the west side, and be a member of that community.

He is a bigger man for reading it whether it was the politcally

Tommy, please don't go there. This letter from the UEZ is certainly
outside its formal activites. If it feels it can do that now there
is nothing to have stopped it from taking similar actions before.
Many in this town want to play nice with those in City Hall and
simply close their damn eyes, ears and mouth. See no evil, hear no
evil and speak no evil. The failure of Asbury Partners to perform,
and City Hall's inability and/or unwillingness to put them on a
leash causes more loss to the members of the UEZ than anything else

underlying social problems but I am no expert in that field. I am

to Italy, good food, Sophia, good friends.

Worse yet, it woudl be like living anywhere other then the tri-state - Dominos,

Sorry I missed the council meeting last night. I heard that Jimmy
Bruno could not contain his glee and asked Keady to read a letter
from the UEZ asking Keady not only to resign from the council, but
also to GET OUT OF AP. What a little prick, but what else would you
 expect from him.

I haven't seen the letter yet but had it read to me. SIgn by Al
Giobbie. I also heard they said it was unanimous, but that Debbie
from the WB, who is on the UEZ stood up and said she didn't even
know about the letter. Hmmm. Something strange here.

Crucify someone (Keady) for telling the truth.

~~ Keady show just how much better he is
than the Deputy Mayor by reading it.Our Deputy Mayor can't handle the truth. He
has made that very clear while being on Council. If he can't handle himself
better when talking to others while a Deputy Mayor like the other Council
Members do.

  ~HE SHOULD RESIGN PERIOD~
I will stand up like I did before to him when I was talking about Veterans Park
not being maintain proper before it was clean up like I did last night. And in
public anywhere.I known you are reading this Deputy Mayor so I will not back
down when I feel I am right on a issue from you.I payed my dues in life. Some of
the problems here in Asbury Park people are taking there Freedom for granted to
much he is one of them.

Ocean Twp. Ocean Twp. Ocean Twp. Maybe Columbus can come ashore there
next year. Why don't some more of those club members buy houses in AP?

Ocean Township is Asbury Park.

Oakdorf can explain what I mean.

Asbury Park is Asbury Park. People in Ocean Twp may have come from AP
and would like to think are still from AP, but they left. Now they are
not AP.

When the boat came from Europe my family (and my wife's) came to Park
Slope. Our families chose to abandon Park Slope for many of the same
reasons people left AP. Park Slope is what it is today because of those
who stayed and those who came to rebuild. If AP amounts to anything it
will because of those who stayed and those who came. You can tell
yourself anything you want.

Many from Asbury Park's Gay community have moved to Ocean Township
over the past year.

OT is quite a draw. Has been for years. People there still feel
like they are from here.
