Ok.  So a lot of stuff's happened that hasn't been covered on here.  Where do I start...Even though people have been spoiling the game for a while now, I've managed to keep out of the way of the majority of it - as far as I can recall I've only heard one spoiler.  Even then, that was a minor detail in the grand scheme of things.The final pre-launch Kombat Kast, dubbed "The Final Kountdown", was one of the most solid ones for a while I think because they just stuck to fights and character breakdowns.  However, it still puzzles me that they haven't solved the mystery of the gameplay output being in mono.  Part of me thinks that noone's noticed... This would be interesting as they focus on sound a fair amount in the game development process and you'd think they'd want to show that off in all its gory glory.  They've probably tweaked a setting or two and that's thrown it all out tho
 ugh, that's a likely explanation at least.You can find it here but as usual it takes a while to start up.  Also, a word in advance: don't just stop listening after the belt fights: there's more.  That's all I'll say.Additionally, the steam unlock is apparently scheduled for midday U.s rather than a Midnight launch like the console versions, as shown in this reddit thread.  All I can say is I'm glad I've ordered the console version as well as PC.So whose going to be maining who for MKX and variations etc?  I don't mind if you don't have a conclusive answer, just want to get a feel for the amount of different characters people are likely to play.

Well, there have been a few things going on here, though not necessarily for the better. My parents may be going through a divorce, which is bad enough, and I'm starting to think about moving, being as I'm now eighteen, and already feel like I should be doing much more than I am right now. I just filled out an application for the college I plan to attend (I should've done this much sooner, as graduation is a bit less than two months away) and so if I'm going anywhere anytime soon it will probably be an apartment over there. I've become even more discouraged with high school, and don't think I'll be going to my graduation. I've accomplished essentially nothing in the past few years, and feel like I actually may have been a better and more intelligent person when I started high school than I am now. I don't feel right going to a ceremony that's supposed to symbolize the beginning of the transition from youth into a responsible, produ
 ctive adult, when I feel anything but, also I really don't feel like listening to all the popular, pretty, ambitious but shallow 4.0 students at the top of my class give their speeches about how they're so excited for the future, how they're just oh so happy and everyone else needs to be exactly as they are as well, that all you need is a passion, that you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it, yada, yada, yada. I seem to have only grown more directionless; from all the research I've done, it seems like a career in technology is a rat race, and I want to do something where I can actually help people and make a positive difference in peoples' lives. Hopefully I'll find whatever it is I want to do in college, but I'm not very optomistic, as high school has for the most part just been one discouragement after another.On a more positive note, I've just found out that Symphony X will be touring in my state in October, and hope I
 'll be able to see them; they're also going to release a new album sometime soon, which I'm very much looking forward to.I've never been much into fantasy literature, it just never seems to catch my interest, and I'm not sure that will change anytime soon. I might try and give a Song of Ice and Fire another go in the future, but for now I'm pretty occupied when it comes to books. I'm about to start Paradise Lost, All the Light We Cannot See which is about a blind girl in World War II occupied France, and the Foundations trilogy by Isaac Asimov. I'm sure this will be interesting.I finished We're Alive a while ago and liked it, though it's definitely not one of my favorites. For one, I'm just generally not a fan of those types of appocalypse stories, I.E. violence, constant non-stop fast-paced action usually involving a lot of gun sounds, rushed romances, gangs, brutal survivalism, insert monster/natural disaster here,
  so a lot of it's probably just me. That being said it was a nice story, and I like that the characters actually developed and had emotions. One of the things I disliked though was that there wasn't a whole lot of background for them; after listening to just a few episodes of Leviathan I knew a lot more about the lives of the major characters than you ever find out about most of them in WA. Also the ending was just sad, and felt almost totally hopeless. I'm anxiously awaiting new releases from Leviathan and Edict Zero, the latter of which should have a new episode out shortly. Speaking of the Leviathan Chronicles, there hasn't been an update for over five months now, has anyone heard anything. Also, what are some other good similar-quality audio dramas? I know there have been some topics about this in the past, but they're very long and I don't feel like looking through all of them.One last thing, which I hope isn't too inappropriate for the 
 topic being as it's a technology question. What are some good GPS apps for iOS/Android? I know about Blindsquare and Nearby Explorer, but they cost money, and there are a bunch of free ones out there such as the Sendero one, which I am wondering are any good. Hi all,does anyone have personal experience with the Piwik web analytics platform?Recently I installed it on my domain as well as the domain of my girlfriend's blog, as we both use the same local shared webhosting service. We use PHP 5.6.5 with 128 mb memory limit, max execution time of 90 seconds, I believe, and a maximum of 5 simultaneously running PHP processes. I don't know too much about the MySQL part, except that there is no limit to the size or count of the databases you use, as long as their total size doesn't exceed 1 gb, and that a recent version of MySQL is used and that the database can be accessed either through the MySQL, MySQLI or PdO adapters.Yeah, and the webhosting also runs 100% on SSD drives.Both of us also use the same Firefox browser, the latest stable version with merely a few enabled addons such as web Visum, Flash or the itunes Application Detector plugin. I also have silverlight, Firebug and iCloud Bookmarks, not 
 sure about the status of these on her part off the top of my head.Finally, we both use the latest development snapshot of NVDA.The really serious problem which is exactly the same for both of us, except that she uses a different, more resource demanding Sapi 5 voice whereas I use Espeak, is that no matter what I try and how I attempt to configure either Piwik installation, they both lag immensely all the time, so much that it makes further usage of the same already loaded webpage impossible after a while. The lag can get so bad that it may take up to 10 seconds for NVDA to provide any audible feedback to a key press. sometimes it takes less time to reach such a level, sometimes it takeslonger, but in either case I was not able to discover any regular reproduceable pattern in this odd behavior yet.I have tried using both the default PDO database adapter as well as MySQLI, to configure the session save handler to use a database table, I have set every widget where i
 t allowed me to do so to display as a simple table, I have disabled many of them including the one that displays visitors in realtime, I have enabled, disabled and reenabled the APC, Eaccelerator and Xcache opcode caches that the webhost provides and makes it possible to configure them, I have created a bootstrap.php that sets the always_populate_raw_post_data directive to -1 with ini_set as the Piwik installer and system check complain about this setting all the time and I cannot modify this option directly in any other way through the webhost's admin interface, I have basically tried every single thing I could think of that could have anything in the slightest to do with the possible cause of the lag, and even a few others that were just pure despair attempts without any rational reason. Still, nothing seems to work.So, has anyone else seen anything like this yet? Any idea what might be causing this? What I find the most strange is that the lag does occur even on the a
 dministration and settings pages, where, as far as I understand it, no widgets should be loaded in real-time and no reports should be processed from the database.I have an installation of CMS Made Simple running on my server and her blog runs on Wordpress without any issues whatsoever.We do have the hourly archiving web cron configured.I'll be happy to provide further details if you need them.Many thanks for any possible answers in advance!Lukas

Hi guys,Entombed is still being sold at the moment, but, due to its complexity (really, really complex mangled code) I could never get it as compatible as I wanted. I wrote it over a span of two years and in that time I think it touched on just about every .Net technology available at the time. It has internet connectivity, local databases, binary save files, and all kinds of intertwined code.It was a bear. Fortunately, I learned a lot making it and always planned a sequel.Right after I completed Entombed I had a few hit mobile apps and games. They take of the majority of my time now, but I'm trying to edge in a sequel.This community is the greatest I've had the luxury of being a part of. Tentative Entombed 2 Design Decisions

Right, let's do this!I've been working on and off a sequel for Entombed for a little while, and I'm fairly certain about some aspects of the new game that I thought I'd share and get feedback on.First, I love Entombed. I was a much less experienced programmer when I wrote it, and as a result (I'm sure the players are aware) it has some annoying bugs that I couldn't ever really get rid of entirely. For the sequel, tentatively titled "The Skeleton Tower", I'm going to try and avoid some of the unnecessary complexity of the original. Hopefully keep it cleaner and less bug prone.Entombed 2 is going to be designed from the ground up to be moddable by the community. I think this will give a lot of longevity. You should be able to add your own monsters and items, and possibly even skills, spells, and player characters. I will definitely make a Windows version, but I'm also hoping to have a Mac version too. It&#
 039;s possible, though a lot more work, to also have Android and iPhone versions. That all depends on if there are enough people wanting it ported to those systems.Entombed 2 is going to use SAPI. It's just too difficult for me to add other screen readers .DLLs and keep the code portable.You'll be able to change many aspects of Entombed 2 using the built-in scripting engine, Lua. I looked into a lot of scripting engines and Lua was the only one I could reliably get to work on PC, Mac, Android, and IOS. I might still hit snags with the mobile platforms in the future, so they're a big if at the moment.Entombed 1 used a local database based on SQL. This was a major, major headache. Many times the game wouldn't run because the user didn't have the exact right SQL version and it was just a mess. I'm absolutely not doing that again. Entombed 2 will use text files for game data. You will be able to open any file and change whatever 
 you like. You think kobolds are too easy? Give them another 100 health if you want. You should also be able to add new enemies in this fashion too.I'm not sure about the possibility of allowing users to add new sounds yet, but I think it's important to extend Entombed 2, so I'll give it a good crack and see if I can get that working. Entombed 2 will have a library of built-in sounds, but I think being able to extend that would be important for creative players. Plus, if someone comes up with some great new content, everyone benefits.So this is it in a nutshell:New Entombed game is tentatively called Entombed: The Skeleton Tower.Designed to be highly moddable.Entombed 2 gameplay will be based on Entombed.Development is in early stages.No release date.

Will there still be a story mode? If so then all monsters should be hardcoded for that mode. Sounds maybe not though, that'd be cool if you could mod those at least in story mode.  I do like the idea of game modding but I'm not sure what you could do with it. Unless you undertook the arduous task of custom creating a dungeon of your own, which I know some people here would probably do.It's good to see that your experience is allowing you to program less buggy stuff. That was one of the big reasons I didn't recommend people buy Entombed. Hard to say, but true.What about gameplay mechanics? There were some big balance issues in etnombed 1 and I'm interested on how you plan to fix those up.

I'm so, s glad that someone is keeping the modding community in mind! Most mainstream games out there are designed to be quite moddable indeed, so it's been quite disappointing to me that a lot of developers nowadays make their games in a very closed fashion. Perhaps they're afraid of people stealing their sounds, which I suppose is a valid concerned, but I nevertheless felt that being able to add or change the sfx with ones of my own choosing made the game far more personal to me. Looking forward to any further updates to this.

Mainstream games like Skyrim have literally thousands of mods. You can always find fresh things to do and see. Actually, most mainstream games are not designed to be moddable... console versions aren't at all, and pc versions are usually hacked which is where the mods begin... I don't know about skyrim, but for most games developers don't exactly endorse mods. However, I'm looking forward to seeing this... I'm not a fan of the idea of not using other screen readers, since I've seen plenty of games that have at least support for one and are perfectly portable, but not being a programmer, who am I to say? lol I also agree that if there is a main story, monsters and their abilities should be hardcoded. If you want the flexibility of difficulty to be there, difficulty levels should be an option. Just my opinions though.

Most PC games are released on Steam and the ones that enable modding with Steam Workshop are generally more successful than those that don't. I don't believe there are any drawbacks allowing a community to change your game. Valve has said that a community of players altering and adding content to your game will dramatically extend it in ways you couldn't possibly do on your own. I agree with that.

Hi, I have downloaded the demo, and it seems to be nice. But car controls such as manual gear and breaks are missing. And When i complete a turn, the car crashes in some way anyway, so I just receive damage if I turn or not. Also you should add more countries and stuff.

Hello.I've tested this game out, it's really good for a concept demo, or a beta, and you don't lack ideas nor suggestions from an excited Community neither.Of course there're the minor bugs, inconveniences and things that could be changed here and there but that's only expected.I'm sure this one has been reported already, but the most annoying part is scanning, because everytime a server message appears (chat, sunset etc etc) the screen reader stops.I've got a few suggestions and crazy ideas, take them for what they are and don't stress yourself too much, you're doing a great job. Anyway, here they are:1: this is a long shot, but as we hopefully get more maps and areas to explore, and as people survive more and more if you get what I mean, people start Dividing themselves into Groups of players. (the implementation is not thought over yet).On the Island where you start out it'd be either a free zone for pk or completely pk-forbidden (probably pk free because of the newbies), and as you travel around these Little Groups of people have places with resorces, such as one Group might get the mountain area that comes from the Island (maybe expand that thing). In these zones you couldn't attack anyone from your own Group, or else you'd kinda be disliked and possibly thrown out of the Community / Group / w/e I didn't Think this through yet. Then there's of course the neutral  pk zones, say in the future you find places with a lot of resorces, and then it'd make sense (wait Groups can't still shoot each other?). Anyway there'll be solo people, löners that don't like others (such as myself ), and yeah you basically have a Group / solo zone there. And you can go into Another group's area and attack them for supplies and stuff.This is just a concept and shit.2: I'd love to be able to select a player or item from a list and only target that one specifically, so I can properly target someone to kill and not have to hear (laeg at bla bla bla, ilovecheese at bla bla bla, target at bla bla bla).3: more area to explore! Actually spanish people don't have a translated version, they might as well as other langs, but that hasn't really been done yet. I will add seperate OOC channels if you wish. I start out with a Swedish keyboard layout but when I play games I prefer to use the american keyboard for obvious reasons, and pressing alt + shift does that for me on both nvda and jaws (idk what it is). It's pretty annoying  to play with a Swedish keyboard layout since to do a / you have to press shift 7, oh not to forget we have the special characters such as ä å ö which gets in the way of ' ; and [. Also, can we get a text box when we type instead of a consol or whatever that is. Similarly as in swamp.

I agree that there should be some limits. E.G. one thought I had would be to let the player mod the game all he likes, then when he wants to play, he generates a dungeon based on the mods then in effect. In this way, he can't cheat by doing the game modding equivalent of:Oh [[wow]] this dragon is way too hard to kill I'll just go in and fix that right now "dragon.health=1" okay now I'll just have my weakest character hit it with his weakest weapon and...Okay that's done we're all still here let's move on.

@dingo, yeah, that is true. Modding is certainly not a bad thing, I just think there should be limits is all. I didn't know about steam workshop... that's actually kind of cool, though I don't think big name companies like Capcom, Activision and the like encourage modding, even though it may happen. too much modding can break a game, especially anything that's multiplayer. I agree to an extent with what Valve says, I just think that there should be allowances only to a certain point, as Jaybird said as well.

I did that already, and it's working now. Seams like rh voice doesn't like windows 8 or something.I'll have to contact olga yacovlini (the creator of rh voice) about the issue. I was going to use it as the voice of a Russian scientist.

he used the same vm that's on the server, keynote gold can be found on the server as well. the easiest way to get it on there is to either use infrarecorder to burn it to an iso image and make that the default iso for the cd drive in VMware, or download it in the vm itself.

The controls are, for the most part fine apart from the brake not working. Turning is different to top speed, but to those who are crashing, you'll get used to how it works if you play for long enough.There still needs to be some work done but the game's looking very awesome. The engine frequency doesn't seem to reset at the moment and it seems to always go up. If you crash your car, the pitch of it doesn't actually go down which is quite weird and it also seems to continue raising every time you drive down a hill.I definitely like the fact there's track scenery. This is something that was missing in audio racing games up to now and the fact there's things like jumps.

the side lasers allow you to shoot in directions perpendicular to the one you are facing.  For example, if you ar facing north, you will also shoot east, and west.  The nuclear bomb will destroy all walls on the map.

It's when I'm in the area and my speeds still like 3500... and when it finally gets down to 500, I'm like a thousand coords away from the destination, and end up having to use the fusion drive else it takes like 10 minutes to get back to the destination.

That's strange I didn't have to do that.for a while I wasn't able to play an audio game like swamp because certain settings were checked and I needed to uncheck them in the G930 audio properties from the control pannel.For example, once I unchecked the rear speakers box, I was able to hear zombies moving around in a full stereo field. As before, I heard them, but there was no way to correctly target  them. lol I'd miss every time as I was able to hear them, but not their location.If I can help beyond that, write back.hth

Hi Dingo.Great I'm very excited! I love entombed even if I don't particularly love it's gameplay. I think you should have a main story that you write yourself than have players write there own missions and monsters and things like that. Also I know you mentioned supporting sapi on windows but could you please also support nvda at least? I don't have jaws and I can't stand sapi so if it's not too much trouble could you add nvda support. I remember playing entombed when it first came out and I had to play it with microsoft sam it was awful sam could barely pronounce some of the content in the game and microsoft anna wasn't any better.Also if you need help I can do monster sounds, charactcr voices, and things like that. I'll anmit one of my favorite things about entombed is it's music, character, and monster sounds.And yes I'm definitley interested in iOs and android versions of entombed 2. I have an aiPod touch and 
 a android tablet so if you need testers for those versions I would be happy to help.Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping us updated!

forgot to mention.Using internet explorer, you need to add core-exiles to the list in tools compadibility options. this will allow you to open the 4 tabs: system, account, mission, & assets with a simple enter like all other links. also when playing for the first time go to your player bio and turn on / toggle the VI blind mode. it is a game layout made just for blind players using a screen reader.hope to see ya in game,Holiday

Track building parser is being implemented as I write this. The sintax for building tracks is literally so simple, it will make you want to laugh out loud. However, due to the overly repetitive nature of track building in a text file due to long tracks and their tendency to have a lot of turns and straights, I'll probably end up coding up a little track builder into the game.However, for those of you who are interested, here's the syntax. This was coppied from the beginner track, so there are numbers already in there. But basically, it's just a property, and then a space, and then a number. For straights and turns, those have a start (what square of the track it will start turning) and end (the square that the turn ends on). And the spawn setting is how fast obstacles will spawn on the track. If you use the track builder, this should be irrelevant to you.track size 2000maximum obstacles 50spawn 1left start 281left end 300straight start 301straight end 370right start 371right end 400So that's all there is for now. However, as other features are added, more configurations will be as well. I just thought you'd like a bit of a preview.

SPOILER!With 36 galactic dust, you can access the section of recreation floor 3 that is under construction. There's a sort of maze / puzzle there and when you get to the end you get to destroy the virus which destroyed the ship for massive reward.There are 13 galactic stones. Collecting all of them unlocks an area within the postgame.

I discovered this Mud when I was doing an unrelated search in this forum.  So I checked it out, and it's interesting.  There are different races and classes than I've seen before, as well as a unique combination of themes.  There are the usual villains and monsters, but then you also kill creatures as varied as Homer Simson, Edgar Rice Burrows, Napoleon, Disney characters, and pirates.  And that's just the low levels.

Hi Dingo. Amazing news. On the screen reader output level, i personally don't see an issue with sapi. People's usual problem with sapi is is not having a decent voice and falling back on windows defaults, however if you invest in a reasonable quality sapi voice it's not a problem, and now there are some comparatively cheap alternatives kicking around. As regards modding, I love the idea of adding extra items, monsters, spells, story sequences etc to the game. Also, though you mention sound effect porting could be difficult I'd suggest this very much should be sometthing to consider. Remember, audio game ambience often comes from sounds and if the sounds are not alterable a player is forced to be in one location, sinse even if I could create items like bushes and tress, monsters like wolves and wood woses, if the ambience was still that same dungeon theme it wouldn't be a very convincing forest. Adding background ambience changes lets people c
 reate different environments, and that combined with the ability to create different story sequences could lead to some awsome creations. Indeed one aspect I would like to see looked at in Entombed Ii is some more interacttion between the player and environment, traps to disarm, perhaps veins of gold orgems to dig (angband had those), secret doors and maybe treasure chests, heck perhaps even foo. Including that sort of thing would also increase the modding possibilities as well.As regards mods for cheats, one suggestion might be to create two versions of the game, a standard version with compressed or encripted data files that people couldn't just easily open and read, and a modable version with all the text files quite free to alter, however with in game story text replaced with example place holders. So to use Jaybird's example, in the main game you are given a quest to destroy the dragon and retrieve a magic sword from it's hoard, when killing it in the main
  game you get the message "with great difficulty you roll over the dragon's enormous scaly carcass exposing a pile of gold, gems and other stolen booty. You see a silver sword covered with moon stones gleaming in the pile, this must be what the wizard wanted"While in the modable version you get "Example, kill dragon and retrieve the quest item silver sword" Thus making the mod files not to be spoilers for people who haven't already finished the game. There is probably more I could add in matter of suggestions, but I'll leave it for now, good luck with the development. I'll also add that the entombed list is still active and this is definitely news that the people still on there might appreciate hearing too.

Hello all,It's been quite some time I've been on this forum.Anyhow, I wanted to know about some computer-related things involving what the subject line indicates...I saw a post on here about virtual machines, but I thought it best to not clog up that thread by asking a question not directly related to the topic.  My questions are:1. What virtual machine software is accessible?2. How do you create and use ISO images?3. Is it possible to take a copy of a configuration on a hard drive and image it onto an ISO file?  I've heard of companies doing this for business reasons, but I wasn't sure about its legality for personal use...I was working with Oracle Virtual Box, but had no such luck.Any help would be great on this!Best Regards,Luke
