hi danny.I think the random policy is dont need.Because fighting in deep space is totally allowed. Ive never been happy with file converters. Id just open them in a sound editor like Audacity or Wave Pad.Except I eventually lost patience with that and wrote BGT scripts to play OGGs for me.Then the computer place decided that fix the AC jack meant Install a bunch of extra crap, and thats how I wound up with VLC on my computer. I have not looked into it much, but its fast at loading and is pretty light, so... that pretty much takes care of the main things that kept me from downloading it myself.I could share my BGT ogg player, but I tend to design things for my own use in ways that turn out to frustrate anyone else that tries them, so I cant promise itd be any good.

This came up in a conversation elsewhere, and now Im wondering... what techniques do screen reader users generally use when navigating web pages?I mean, because there are loads of options, even if we limit ourselves to just one screen reader and one browser.Arrow keys and page up / page down? HTML Quick Navigation keys (and which ones?)?Do habits from one website carry over to others?I mean, I notice that I dont navigate by HTML landmarks (D with NVDA... I think its y with Jaws), unless the convenience is extremely obvious (fanfiction.nets landmarks are more useful than Googles, for example).I know I use to jump around by form control to get to the bottom of pages here, until I got to IE on Windows 8, and everything was treated as a form control for some reason, so I had to specify edit field.Links (visited/unvisited/otherwise)? Find? Paragraphs? Headings? Next-non-link-text? Some combination? Is there some comm
 and you dont use very often? Is there some strategy youd be surprised to find is/isnt very common? Do you use multiple screen readers and have different strategies for these? (I know Jaws has a ton of additional features, like jump-to-line and placemarks and skim mode, and I used the first two but not the third because the third is an abomination of awkward commands I felt no need to memorize... but thats just me; if you are a satisfied user of Skim Mode, please post about it!)

The problem is that lots of pirates take advantage of players who are offline and destroy their ships. This leaves most of us defenseless, since were not logged on to respond to an attack. So, it would be much more even if the players who pirate in deep space attack players who are online.

Well, The brian smart one didnt come with NVDA after the setup was done. If you get one from Levtec, They can be set to have NVDA at the setup. The levtec ones, as you know, you have to create yourself with Levtec Winstaller.

Fare enough on the tags, though to be honest tagging is a process I never cared about sinse the last thing I want to do is sit and write in lots of information about files, I just want to bung them in a folder, name the folder something cogent, put that in a subfolder, directory etc and then play when I like. For example, I dont really care! if the player I use calls the tracks of an audiobook track 1, track 2 etc or just lists the author information, sinse all I want to do is play the thing. While having the title of tracks on a music album is nice, well that is what file names are for. And plus of course, lots of my organization methods dont depend upon stuff like artist or genre, eg, I have a folder for game soundtracks, and a folder for mega man soundtracks within which are folders for each game, however I dont care that much whether they count as rock or electronica or j pop or whatever, or who the composer is, Im just bothered that when I
  want to play the music to mega man x6, or have the entire mega man cannon on shuffle, that is what I get when I play that folder.As to cross folder playing, well thats the difference between directories. The victor will stop at the end of a book,but with music will go on to the next folder once its finished all the subfolders of a current folder. this is why the organization sutes me, sinse I have for example one mondo folder containing all my new doctor who music, with folders for series 1-5, then folders for individual discs Ive ripped, so effectively I just start playing and Ill get all the Doctor who stuff in order. Also i confess Im rarely a person for shuffle or cross genre or album playing. The Victor will support m3u playlists if I cared about making them, but I prefer to just play folders. As for bookmarks or transferring, well I can see your point there, although the victor is so easy to cart around I dont real
 ly bother playing audiobooks on my desktop much these days anyway, and time skip on the victor makes it fairly easy to get to any part of a book quickly if you know the total time, indeed that is one area where the victor is vastly! Superior to my iphone, sinse I used to dread losing my place in a book with my Iphone as finding it again was such a pain given that Itunes only has one fast forward button, and if it was a really long file it could be extremely! annoying. One question about the hole sansa thing though, how do you actually navigate between folders? if its a case of arrows list and enter, that actually isnt so different from the victor anyway, its just the victor announces what level of sub folder your looking at and doesnt require you to return to the main folder level to view the next subfolder though the full path name will be announced, eg, the victor will tell me when Ive gone from doctor who/companionchronicles to 
 ot;China Mievelle/embasy town Its actually a nice way of looking through books or series of books. Im not sure on durability of the victor and its not something Ive experimented with, though Ill say its not too fragile sinse its dropped onto a carpeted floor a few times, once from a hight of about five foot up and been absolutely fine, plus its under guarantee anyway. The victor is a bit big to clip to your collar or whatever, but it does fit quite wel in a top pocket or has a case with a lanyard you can buy if you were going to run, though there isnt really anyway I could run safely at this point with any device much less with my ears covered.

file_encrypt(data.dat, data1.dat, key);file_copy(data1.dat, data.dat, true);file_delete(data1.dat);Thats how youd do it with data.dat, or you could make data1.dat be unencrypted saving you from copying an extra file. But your problem is that the files dont overwrite each other. You could also use string_encrypt which would work just as well, and would quite litterily be easier to restore the data, asuming you arnt working with like a sound file. If you are, do file, if not, string does the trick nicely, like this. file f;f.open(data.dat, rb);string data="" key);f.close();f.open(data.dat, wb);f.write(data);f.close();I wrote that in a hurry so please forgive any compolation errors, however I hope it helps.

I think the navigation thing is just personal preference. The Sansa with Rockbox acts like a normal removable drive, with the internal memory and the SD card listed as separate disks, so no complexity there, plus it stores bookmarks and configuration settings in normal files; I really love being able to listen to a book on my desktop or laptop, then copy the bookmark file to my player and resume. I like to keep my music organized as well, usually just with the artist as a top level folder and their albums in subfolders underneath, but I myself hated that the Stream would play across folders. Also Rockbox can build a database with tags in audio files regardless of their location that you can then browse by artist/album/genre etc, and unlike iTunes it actually works very nicely. The other thing I like about the Clip players is just how small they are and the fact that theyre pretty much indestructible; through the years Ive had various Clips get dropped, throne, stepped 
 on, nearly run over by a car, accidentally left in a damp environment for several days, and the one I had the longest went through the wash twice, (once while it was clipped on the collar of my coat) and they all came out working fine. Theyre perfect for running too, because you can quite literally just clip them and forget theyre there, and for such a small device the audio quality is great. Okay, enough with my fanatical praise of the great Sansa . I do really love these little guys though, and its really sad to see such stellar devices abandoned by Sandisk. They used to be very cheap, around $50usd for an 8GB model, but if you can find one on Amazon (some are still being sold by a third-party seller for now) itll cost at least twice that.That Beatbox thing reminds me a bit of the NLS players my state talking book library gives out, but even more basic.
  Theyre just really large rectangular boxy things, with huge buttons and a ridiculous slot on the front in which youre supposed to insert cartridges (ridiculously oversized 1gb flash drives) containing books. Pretty ridiculous how low most blind organizations set their standards, but that topics been worn out time and time again.

2. Huge rewards for missions.Most of the imbalance has not been caused by forts. It has always been easier to get levels by missioning, perhaps rightly so as missions take a lot of time and for most players involve a risk of death. However, and sadly so, missions at high level are actually easier on your own as you can bunch up the zombies and never have to kill any. Even worse, although most good missioners out there are honest, some openly boast about using a kill utility so they have never died on HC. A massive 4 million xp is gained for the 200 crate raider missions, and if imbalance is an issue then we have to look at missions. A cap on HC, constructively suggested previously, and finally 6. speed on HC is reduced to max 30 to limit solo power missions, which would also give a true challenge to HC as some zombies would be able to catch up.Again its not an easy choice, rewarding the hard worker or levelling the field. But keeping the field level is going to be even harder.The choice comes down to slowing the forces of imbalance, or accepting a regular reset. When you put it this way, the idea of a cap stands proud.

4 Exploitation of bugs.Sorry to end on a negative, but exploits have had more than a small part in the imbalance.Heres the list of proven exploits, though there are more:1. Duplicate items. Imbalance was achieved in food by some people filling multiple forts with duplicated farming seeds. This contributed to the lock down. Leaving the worse exploters just encourages more exploits.2. Raider missions were broke. some players gained hundreds of millions of xp at this time. A partial reckoning was handed out to reduce the levels gained by the worst 3 offenders. Perhaps a discouragement, perhaps not.3. When forts were reset some people gained vast lumps of XP, some by exploiting the various fort bugs. Punishments yet to be announced.4. Raider missions are again bugged. No surprise here, the same exploits occurred to gain more dodgy levels as quick as possible. Missions shut down and no annou
 ncement yet of the reckoning.5. Some folks still use kill utilities, some of whom are actually decent at missions, but prefer to cheat. No action taken, but the logs are there. Its also possible to code in any disconnection with less than 50% health is a death. Aprone, you introduced pay to play for a reason, I would like to suggest you take a view of the worst offenders on each of the above and exercise your right to remove the cheats, perhaps the worst 3 will do. Taking no action against multiple offenders will encourage future bug exploitation. If we are facing a reset for the want of a level playing field, then lets have a level playing field. You cant expect new players to want to compete in a game that has such a history of exploits. I suggest only the exploiters will disagree.How will I vote: honestly undecided at the moment. Personally I would rather not lose 1700 levels, but I am happy if

1. Forts and their rewards.There needs to be a reward for forts, otherwise there is no PvP and no point having forts. However the rewards for a clan able to hold 10 forts for 6 months or indeed a clan strong enough to hold 20 forts for a week, created imbalance. Aprone has lessened the rewards for forts and made them harder to hold in the long run, with both reduced food on missions and accelarating fort drain rates. It seems to make sense to let these changes show their effects, but if forts are still monopolised, other suggestions worth considering include: 1% or 2% rotting of food per day either in forts or both forts and characters, random fort disasters, perhaps one a week, or another major food rehaul in 6 months or so. But of course, theres still the question of the imbalance of current levels.Theres a lot of negative comments about people who were able to hold forts, but the focus should be on the rewards, not the players, a
 lso the game has moved on and now nobody is contesting forts. Forts are no longer a problem, perhaps the lack of PvP is now the issue. Im not hearing anyone who has called for a reset suggest they will be involved in PvP afterwards. A reset is fine by me, but will it help our player base?The problem we now have is very different. We need to make the game interesting for new players and old players alike, part of this game development was to make forts an interesting and different part of the game so that straight line mission till you drop had an alternative. Suggestions of getting rid of forts is not adding to the interest or variety of the game. Our demands on Aprones time need to focus on expanding our player base, by adding such variety and interest, not taking out features that some of us enjoyed while active and might once again be enjoyed by others. A food reset was needed, it helped make forts more int
 eresting and motivated most players. The question now is whether a level reset is needed. The answer is simple, yes if we want to make fort battles possible once again. If of course, PvP is not wanted then other peoples levels are of no consequence. Some folks rightly want a fair crack at fort battles, however theres a lot of folks who would rather have their levels than a level start, fno easy answers folks.

3. Hard work and obsessive behaviour.Big missioning has been covered, but big time spent on Swamp goes further. Most folks levels have been gained with dedicated time (most in missions, some in forts), but perhaps it would benefit both those players and the game in general to actually play less hours, or at least engage in wider activities in the game. Rwards do affect peoples behaviour. Limiting rewards per day, or capping achievements gives a challenge, but not an endless one. A max of 2 levels per mission would hopefully result in more missions being run old style multi player. Also a max number of levels per mission would reduce the practice of truck sitting to power level ones friends. A max of 2 levels per day in a fort would hopefully end the practice of leaving ones computer on overnight. The issue here is reducing obsessive behaviour but sufficiently rewarding hard work and skill. HC is suppose
 d to be a challenge, but its too easy, just a question of how much time you have. Heres some more radical thinking to help return a chalenge: 1. reduce speed to 30 on all maps, 2. ensure a fast xomby on higher maps, 3. limit gifting to 1 item per day, just like food, this would cut out the crazy storage tanks, 4. Withdraw a max of 6 items from forts per day, again to reduce storage characters, 5. a private has a level cap of say 250, and progressively up the title tree. and finally 6. A cap on levels per mission.Again a choice, balancing the challenge against a relaxing hour on the server. However theres always normal to play and these suggestions only relate to HC.

Oh, sorry, Im not sure. I think it may be their algorithms or whatnot. It is possible to make python laggy, but only after you get over 1000 items in the space and you have about that many equations going on at once.But if you really want something faster you can use kivy which uses Cython although it is really difficult to learn and use. Cython in general will speed up your program, but it is much more difficult to use.

Fare enough Brad. Note that as I said, sn has a learning curve, so if you get stuck ask. You can select a jfw emulation keyset which has stuff like insert down arrow for document read rather than f11 in the function key set or numberpad plus in the numberpad keyset, though I dont know how this handles other functions such as find, still it might help if your used to jaws, find this in the control panelgeneralkeyboard and hotkeys menu.Also, bare in mind by default sn starts with the vocalizer version of realspeak daniel, At one time this was a tad slower in reactions though has generally improved. If you want to change screen reader you do so in speech menuevoice preferencesselect synthesiser,  oh, and if you want the human orphius voices like Orphius alan that you heard in my Fighting fantasy podcast, you need to download them from dolphin sinse for some weerd reason dolphin doesnt ship sn with them anymore (god knows why, they still sh
 ip with the synth voices but not the human ones). Ive always liked orphius human sounding voices sinse theyre a nice compromise between reaction speed and not sounding like a cyberman .

I thought it was my net since my msv threw a fit at the IP address from the WiFi router and kept giving a self assigned IP that wouldnt get on the internet, therefore making Windows have no way to get access. Damn vmware! Why must you make windows virtualize a wired connection instead of just using WiFi, so that when situations like this happen, I dont have to tinker around with IP addresses and the like?

hi danny, I have a cool idea.This idea is about the starship building.I think plasma cannon limits are not good. What about restrictions? It means if you increase your ships plasma cannon damage, your plasma cannon charge time will be increased. I think limits are not good for starship building. If you install more and more engines, your fuel will ran out quickly.And etc.And one more idea. This is about artipects. I think selvige mission is very good for starship construction system. It means maybe we can use useless items for starship construction.Like remains of engine, remains of power core, unknown ship component, etc.If you get this items, you need to repare damaged items before continuing.And if you want, you can add more missions.Oh, one rest thing. I actually think older versions are kicking around on dolphins website sinse Ive downloaded them before. @Brad, I cant speak for nvda, which Ive never tried, but I did briefly (for about a day), have a go with Jaws and Ill explain a few of the things I liked in Supernovawhich jaws didnt seem to do and which people who Ive later talked to about Jaws dont mention it doing, though of course bare in mind I didnt use Jaws for that long. Oh and plase! lets not turn this into yet another my screen reader can beat up your screen readers grandma with one hand tied behind its back! type of stupid debates. Much as there is a lot I like about supernova Ill freely admit the fact that Ive used the dam thing for close to 20 years probably plays a major part in it too, and likely other people could say as much about Jaws. the days when for example Supernova worked less well on the internet (betwee
 n versions 5 and 6), or Jaws couldnt handle unnscripted windows are largely gone.firstly, Supernova is very very customizable in what it speaks.You can alter amount of punctuation spoken on different areas of the screen, in different focus modes etc. For example at the moment I have capitals spoken as I Type so when a word is spoken (sinse I have typing echo set to words), I hear when its capitalized, but not when I use continuous document read or streight up web navigation, unless I go by character. Also, I have numbers spoken as words when I am reading in various modes, but spoken as didgits when Im typing. I do believe some of this sort of customization is possible in Jaws at least, but where in supernova the settings to do this are very obvious, I couldnt find the jaws settings at all. Another thing, supernova doesnt reformat the screen at all. What you read with supernova when you read a webpage is exactl
 y the same layout that a sighted person gets. There are lots of keys to skip around of course, headings (and different levels of headings), visited or not visited links, buttons, check boxes, combo boxes, edit areas, bullet items, paragraphs, table elements, graphics, the same as most screen readers do and you can change the reading order of columns etc. But the actual on screen text will be the same, this means that when you say are talking about on the right you can physically move that way. Also, though supernova has map files which work similarly to script files, these often are not necessary. Mostly if something has text or has a mouse area to interact with, supernova will be able to interact with it, it also is great at columnizing information and coherently moving between objects even on none standard windows (hence why it works so well with the smugglers games). For example I heard people created scripts for the Kchess games from arc angles software f
 or Jaws and window eyes, Supernova had no problem just reading the screen, going through the bog standard menus and pressing controls.Another major thing is mouse emulation, not just left clicks but the hole lot, wheel movements, drag and drop etc. AGain, Im not sure how Jaws handles with that sort of thing, but its why for example the wastes scroll window is only a mild annoyance, as well as being great for clicking hotspots or random controls on web pages or sometimes on flash panes even when theyre not links and sometimes even when theyre not correctly labeled. Another supernova function I really like is the ability to find on screen or on window text and move the dolphin ccurser streight there, and indeed to retain in sns memory this text. So for example when I played puppet nightmares and there was no clear heading, paragraph or otherstandard object to navigate to where the game text began and all the navigation links stopped, I 
 just typed help into the find box, then all I needed to do was press f 4 to be skipped streight to the gameplay area. Supernova doesnt do the key grabbing thing jaws does, neither do you need to put it to sleep or whatever, indeed you can keep supernova on all the time if you wish and just flick the voice off, or flick the keys off, indeed frequently Ive done things like been playing entombed, paused the game, turned supernovas voice and keys back on, answered some e-mail then just alt tabbed back to the window. This is actually really handy for say if Im watching a dvd and want to tinker with the controls, or if Im listening to music with winamp and want to alter the audio settings or read the title of a track but dont want supernova reading the window. I have heard people say supernova has a rather steeper learning curve than some screen readers, though sinse I learnt it with my first machine I c
 ant say for certain. I do believe sn is less for auto speaking incoming text than for giving someone various tools for reading on screen content, though itll of course do stuff like speak standard popupps, install windows etc. The only mildly irritating thing with supernova is lack of streight

I didn[t know a classic shell existed. The windows M key isnt working for some reason, and the only way I can get to the desktop is by pressing Windows B, then tabbing over until I hear the list of items. It seems that Cortana is always open and theres no way to get rid of it. Also, the alt tab takes a while to switch from one window to another. Im hoping these are just some bugs that can be fixed.

About starship building, if i want to make a 60 by 60 ship for example, and if i put a wall at 60 x, spanning to 60 y, doesnt that let the player go to only tile 59, because walls at 60? I was just wondering because in the starship building article it said if i want to make a 60 by 60 ship i should make a wall x 60 and stuff, so doesnt that let the player go only to 59 before getting blocked? So, to make a 60 by 60 ship, shouldnt the wall be placed at 61?

@Grryf, Remember, the ultimate goal of King of dragon pass isnt just to accumulate, its not a resource management game. You have to spend to progress, indeed as the manual says generosity (or at least prudent generosity), is a trait of all good Orlanthi chiefs. There will be years when you lose goods, people and cows, but that is life, however so long as your building up your blessings and defenses and the good will with your neighbors, your still moving forward. While it is possible to accumulate large amounts of goods later in the game, usually its best to just have a moderate reserve, and indeed if you have too many cows or people you could find your clan splitting. Personally I bank on 50 goods in reserve, and tend to spend the others on important things like fortifications and temples and gifts to other clans, sinse its much easier to make a neutral clan friendly than pacify lots of enemy ones, indeed if you have more than two fudes going I

 the scars, and Ernalda feeds the tribe, you can get a break during the ten year limit by doing making of the storm tribe again, indeed the really hard bit will be orlanth and aroka, or at least it was for me, and I admit with that one I had to do something very naughty, and restore a game when I failed first time, though succeeded second try. Greetings all.The spirit sword has 2 numbers; the first one is the experience needed to level and the second one is the actual level; at least thats my understanding of how it works when you press r.Secondly, why does the crackman give me errors when an enemy shoots anything other than bullets? Is there a way to tell the sendspace wizard to download all the files in a folder in one operation rather than queueing up each file separately?

You can actually search the backlog, its still under the latest 100 post. DO you guys find any negatives with my suggestions? Set weapon damage to level 1, or whatever Aprone decides to set it to. Same for health. This way, everyone dishes out, and takes same damage, and no reset is needed, thus making everyone happy in the longrun.

Yes I know with a random addon for firefox you can which works %50 of the time they can be got round, but really developers should make these things accessible anyway! I downloaded all the seasons for CSI, problem, about half the episodes are in ogg format, but the player I want to play them on only supports mp3. I found a couple of free converters but not sure how much I like them since their installers come loaded with extra crap I dont want, and really rather not encourage such tactics by using their program. Can anyone recommend a reasonably good and accessible audio file converter? Thanks.

I really really dont feel like typing a dictionary sized response to all of Rockys posts but all Ill mention is that any mission DC with players above 50% will create some pretty serious issues because of all the disconnects. Ive never pulled the plug on my HC character during a mission but if you check my stats I have over 20 disconnects.thanks to that damn connection interrupted thing. If any DC happened when a player is over 50% health then each one of those random game interruptions would end up with even more people writing to Aprone asking to have their inventories reset.Out of all those above posts I basically got that HC level caps are a good idea. I agree. As for the rest, Ill have to go read it 4 or 5 more times.

Oh I just remembered one more thing. The players who have a lot of time to devote to the game, and are good at it, will and should be ahead of those who only play once a week. If I can do 200 crate missions with death bringers I should get more of a reward than another player who can only do 10 crate missions. I think its a little insane to force skilled players to stay on the same level a unskilled or very casual players. hard work should be rewarded and to take away all the rewards for working hard will make the whole thing a little pointless.Maybe the idea that once a fort is entered everyone is put a 200 health with the same armor and points could be a solution but simply limiting what can be achieved by good players simply because others cant do it or dont want to try that hard too isnt a very good idea in my book.Again this is why I think level caps are the best idea. Skilled players can still reap the benefits of being good but it w
 ill also allow those that cant play as much or are just lazy to be able to catch up a little without just making it stupidly easy. If I can earn over 1000 levels through missions should another that can only get 100 levels really be able to compete? That just doesnt seem right to me. Some of us earned what we have while others sit in the safe zones and complain about things not being fair. I know this isnt the case for all of them but many just sit back and ask Aprone to hold back those of us that have gotten good and dedicated time to this game.So lets add a level cap at 400 or 500 and if someone cant reach that then learn how to take a hold a fort perhaps they should go back to normal mode where things arent quite so intense.Just thinking out loud.

Hi guys, im not sure what took so long for the server to boot up. Anyways, since it was reported last night of more starship deaths in deep space, their is going to be a policy put in place on random killing since it has sort of gotten out of hand. Id just like to say this, to summorize it however. If you want to be a pirate, you may do so. Killing in deep space is allowed. But being an uncontrolable jerk and constantly murdering every ship in site just because you can isnt ok, at least from my viewpoint, im holding a vote on the game to see if people agree with this policy or not. Now to emmfasize, im not telling pirates to go away at all. Just that this policy will meerly put a damper on thoughs who seem to just constantly kill for fun, and hopefully, will help bring in more players.

@Fatih,Why dont you try downloading windows 10 via media creation tool, and store it into a DVD drive, then install win 10 via DVD? it might find no issues

I hope access can be fixed sinse the game does sound good, though I cant call any game that requires random poking and lacks so much information accessible, playable possibly, accessible no, not when sighted people just look at the screen and get all needed information instantly presented to them. Still, hopefully the interface has elements that the developer can lable, and hopefully the battles are such that the information about weapons, damage, what your enemy is up to etc can be conveyed to vo.

Greetings all! Some updating of the inventory system has taken place, one of which is the massive fixing of a few teleporter bugs, the shooting down of modules not being used bug, and finily, last of all, a new much less spammy system. Its not exactly what you asked for, but its much less spammy. If you have more than one item of the same type in your inventory menu, as requested if you open the menu, the first item will be the only one showing. For instants, if you have 1000 valuable metal, only one valuable metal will show in your inventory, cutting down on spam and making it more likely for you to be able to open your inventory. Enjoy! Oh, and get building them custom starships, I look forward to seeing them!
