Yes, I do know of these soundfonts, well some of them, mainly the SNES ones and the CPS ones, especially the CPS2 version. I believe I also have a CPS1 Street Fighter II soundfont on my HDD somewhere, since it's my favorite to use since if you hack the game or mute the music keeping the sounds, you can overlay your custom SF2 style music on top of the muted soundtrack. I don't use NES soundfonts since I go for accuracy when doing NES tunes and using NES instruments, because I know there are videos of someone using an SMB3 soundfont on YouTube.

thanks family mario. by the way, are you considdering using chipsounds for the backing tracks? I came up with the following to map speech synthesisers to different sound chips:lady parsec and terminate99: sn77489 (reason should be obvious)votrax: ay8910 (those who read my last post can guess why)sp025: ay8910 (both are from the same company)the rest aren't mapped to specific sound chips, so feel free. I'm only giving these recomendations to help you, you don't have to go by them.

I haven't looked at how to change settings without a keyboard, but since I have one, I@ll also look at whether changing voice speed improves performance, which is perhaps a possibility.  If I find a way to change voice speed with a controller, I@ll be sure to post it here.Maybe a petition to Microsoft and emails to the XAccess team would be of use here to try and push for an initial release, or at the very least a word on why they haven't released it in non-U.S. markets yet?

If you were to go into sync 2, click add folder, and choose the new bk3 playthrough Carry has made, everyone who was in it would have to upgrade to sync 2.0 in order to keep using the bt sync features. Sync 2 will automatically upgrade any added sync 1.x folders into sync 2 folders. You would have to copy the old folder somewhere else and add that one to sync 2.0 if you wanted to preserve the 1.x folder. I would love the updated playthrough though, and you can copy that over to the game recordings and reviews folder if you feel like you have enough hard drive space to do it. Though my general recommendation is that people switch to sync 2, even if it means learning a new  interface. Eventually even more compatability issues will crop up with sync 1.3. Or bitTorrent will change its relay server and bt sync 1.3 won't be able to use it to transfer files. Then you'll be forced to upgrade and it will cause an even greater upheaval. and the interface really isn't tha
 t bad. I mean I liked the 1.3 interface better, but staying current is more important than staying familiar.

It's nice to know we can get this in the UK even if their is a bit of buggering about to get it working. I think this is down to xbox live being the same worldwide instead of being split into 3 different  entities. I think Sony is using information derived from what server you connect to prove your location. Apple does this with the Apple TV to stop apps like HULU from loading on UK apple TVs even if you change your region and language settings. I meant to get a router in, flash it with DD-RWT and run the entire connection through a US VPN. I forgot all about it but I'm gonna go do that now. If that is what you have to do then just [[wow]].  Microsoft are really starting to impress me with the xbox and i'm starting to regret not getting one now haha.

The batarangs come back, unless they hit someone. They don't deviate from the path they were thrown on, however, so if you change height, or step into/out of an alley or room, they can miss you.At Speeder: try pausing the game with escape, and pressing ctrl_shift+f6, or ctrl+shift+f7. There might be some uncaught index out of bounds errors if you try to edit people's items or weapons when they don't have anything. I'd have to look up exactly how to get in / use the editors.

Hello, No problems for me either using firefox. You might try uninstalling Java. If you didn't install it yourself for a good reason, you probably don't need it either. It causes browser instability and is awfully insecure. I'm not sure if that fixes your problem, but if it doesn't check your extensions in firefox/ie.

You can catch batarangs (well, batarangs you threw) if you can get to the same position, but when there's jumping involved it can get kinda difficult to align vertically.(I am curious as to how a 2D side-scroller that lets you rotate the camera would work...)At speeder:What I can find quickly:Character editor:Tab / shift+tab : select characterarrows: move characterenter: change rankk: hear state and counter (It might set state to sanding, I'm not sure)shift+k: set counters: toggle shieldshift+s: toggle armorw: edit weaponsi: edit inventoryl: select leader. hi. @darth scorp, yes, I totally get what you are saying. if I added that kind of think it would be in a while, once I add skills, points... etc. The thing is, back when survive the wild first started out, hardly anyone liked it. Yeah there were a lot of people on when I had the coordinates system. I switched to the rotation system and a lot of people hated it. It's not laimons dood. There were many more people that didn't like it than people that did like it. I added a compass with the compromise that you had to build it somehow. Out of 10 people, i'd say 8 wanted the compass. Then about pk... I believe your one of the very fiew people who wishes this didn't exist. The killing factor was obsird, it really was. Again I understand your point about it, but the thing is, the amount of killing overrode it. In a real game even, like a realistic one, there would never be this much killing unless people were in a war. People kill others for there stuff just for fun. W
 ell now theres rabits, so you have something else to kill. Not as intelegent of course but still fun. However, I will take your feedback and use it as something to try to make the game better. I think most people will agree that we can't take the pk system away, but looking at it, I agree there needs to be a gift limot. which I started coding right now even while typing hahaha. Anyway what I was thinking about slot machines is you don't just type /slots and get random stuff if that's what you were thinking. It would cost you something. In alter eon, it takes gold. In here, it'd take... Well, something of the sort. And it 2 would have a limot, you can only do it like 10 or 20 times a day. I'm only trying to keep in mind that this is a game, and last time I got 2 realistic with things, 9 out of 10 people flipped. I figured i'd throw my viewpoint to you on this, and to let you know I will use your feedback as something useful for me and the game.

Ethin,Rather than try AVG Ultimate, I decided to try AVG Free anti virus, I got my answer about how accesible it wasn't pretty quick. I got to the second page of the installer where they try to sell you the Pro version and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to continue from there when I chose not to buy Pro. So I canceled and deleted the AVG installer, and decided that AVG wasn't accessible.So now I'll see if I can find the thread about accessible anti viruses to see what else I can try.

Slowing down the game was pretty much the main reason why I had considered not doing it in the first place, but after thinking for a bit it's not that much of a problem actually:1) The level layout is static (it doesn't keep changing), so you don't need constant feedback.2) You don't need to hear the whole clue to know what's ahead, as long as each clue starts different.So in practice maybe it works as a good hack. Objects still would need to be represented by ongoing sound as they're constantly moving so you can't just keep track of them, and stuff like footsteps need to stay to help you know when you're indeed still walking, but as far as the level shape itself goes, this may work.Still implementing this but so far I have this:"wall" = running into a dead end"gap" = about to run into a pit"higher" = running into an upwards stair"lower" = ru
 nning into a downwards stair"indoor" = going under a ceiling"outdoor" = no ceiling anymoreThe ideal thing would be to implement all this with different effects, but that will take quite a while (the current sound engine is quite primitive) so for now I want to try this.

Actually, that sounds like a good concept. I like it. I just might be able to do that, I'll especially love working with the SN76489 since that was my favorite chip back in the day since I even still have an opened up ColecoVision and Master System exposing those chips for later uses. Again, that is a wonderful idea that I have on the table for backing tracks if I want to do some.

I recently had to have a cable TV installer make a service call to my place because I thought I wasn't getting all the channels I was supposed to.When he arrived, he demonstrated that there was no problem. I then demonstrated the missing channels.He told me the channel I had just tuned to and it wasn't what I thought I was tuning to. It turns out that Panasonic made the remote for my TV backwards. From before I lost my vision, every TV or video device related remote had a key pad like a calculator's with the 1, 2, and 3 keys on the bottom row, but this remote's key pad was made like a phone's with the 1, 2, and 3 keys on the top row. So when I thought I was tuning to channel 19 I was actually tuning to channel 73. I felt pretty foolish after that discovery.Yeah, sighted people can be strange. I just moved, my brother was visiting, helping me get my new place organized. While he was there, I had him follow me as I walked to the grocery 
 store next door. I wanted to make it there on my own but since I hadn't been there for over 20 years, I wanted him to point out where things had changed that affected my walk to and from the grocery store.One thing he kept doing which bothered me was to announce to everyone that I crossed paths with that that I was blind and that they should let me know they were there by announcing themselves. I tried to tell him that it wasn't necessary for them to announce themselves unless they wanted or needed to interact with me, but I guess he didn't believe me because he just kept on doing it.Although I'd feel really bad if someone tripped over my cane, I don't worry about it. I have a need and a right to use the cane, and since they are the ones who can see, it's their responsibility to notice my cane and not trip over it. That may be callous, but honestly, I'm the one who can't see, how am I supposed to know when I should pull my cane b
 ack to avoid tripping someone?

@SIKI wouldn't say drop the project, but I also wouldn't advise you even attempting this method.  There is one simple reason that I believe Brad never considered and that is the issue of the keys interrupting the screen reader.Since screen readers accept input from keys at all times (pretty much, but correct me if I'm wrong), if you're holding down a key and it's triggered to speak, the speech will not even register as having spoken.  The end result?  No speech.  I'd say just have a dounf ro gaps, have sounds when you run into a wall - you don't have to know where a wall is - you can just run into it and find your way from there.Just my opinion in this current situation.  I like what you're doing, keep at it.

Do they trigger even when they have no effect in the GUI at all? (text input is disabled, there are no controls inside the window, and the keys in question are the arrows and spacebar) Although I guess I shouldn't underestimate broken software... (also doesn't this mean that the screen reader for HUD changes is a bad idea too?)It seriously sounds that until I completely drop the current engine there's no way to fix this at all (I have something better right now, but it's not in condition for backporting yet and lacks music support).

My experiences with the movie vault.I'm in the US and discovered the movie vault several months ago, I've been accessing it since then with no problems, so the remark about people in the US not being able to access the movie vault is wrong.To get access the movie vault, you have to sign up to be a member of the Blind Mice Mall, and then be logged in, once you are logged in, the link to the movie vault appears.Some where on the movie vault page is an email address to Lee Hodgson who is generally very quick and very helpful in solving download problems. Lee has offline backups of all their movies and shows so fixing files with download problems usually take only 24 hours.The search feature doesn't search just the titles. It searches the entire movie description, which includes genre. I recently did two such searches and they worked just fine. The first was to search for "TV" to pickup all the TV series they had. The other was to s

One reason why I spent the $99 for KNFB Reader is because I learned that many of the cheap or free OCR apps don't do the OCR recognition on your device. Instead the picture of the page you are trying to process is sent to a server where the OCR recognition is performed, then the resulting text is sent back to you.If that's the case, I'd be very nervous about what I use the OCR app on. That the OCR is done on somebody's server opens up some serious privacy and security concerns.

I really should get around to trying this game...Anyway, as far as preventing speech getting interrupted, this is easy to fix on the screen reader side as most screen readers have options to turn this off, or at least JAWS and NVDA do. In the case of NVDA, you can do this in the keyboard settings dialog, speech interrupt for enter key and speech interrupt for typed characters. Unchecking them will prevent this from happening and the configuration can be saved into a configuration profile so that it's only active in the game

Normally, I would make an edit, but this is a slightly different point, so it'll just be a second post.First of all, don't drop the project. I gotta say for only 2 people, Brad and Crashmaster managed to get quite a lot of negativity into this thread. For someone who plays as many mainstream games as audio ones, I for one have to say I really appreciate your efords. So one idea that crossed my mind which would help to reduce the audio clutter is that not all sounds have to play continuously. The sounds for the various platforms and slopes could be represented as echos of your footsteps that would still be higher or lower in pitch based on where the platforms are. The sounds for enemies, hazards and powerups should probably still keep looping as they are less common and more important. You may have to change the footstep sound for this though because the one you have now is very loud and long.

That thing with your brother is just down right embarrassing. I like to think that one's own family would know better, but of course, I'm well aware that's often not the case.Not sure where you're writing from, but here in Ontario, all the remotes have had their numbers like a telephone number pad, with the 1, 2, 3 across the top. I would certainly find it confusing if I ever needed to adjust to a new number pad.As a matter of fact, I have a story along that line. It's not embarrassing, but I'll tell it anyway. Typically I pay my phone bill online, which requires I use the keyboard number pad to enter my credit card number. This is arranged like a calculater, with the 1, 2, 3 across the bottom. I've learned my credit card number very well, so can type it easily like this. However, just a couple days ago, I used my service provider's automated telephone system to pay my credit card bill. This required typing my credit card numbe
 r using a telephone keypad, which I found surprisingly difficult. Probably took me twice as long to type all the digits this way.

My memory could be flaky and low numbers on the top row like a phone may be the standard, but for whatever reason, my brain thought that low numbers on the bottom row was.Oh well, after that, I'm not likely to forget the proper order.On the flip side, I'm paying for just basic cable TV with just the local channels, but because the cable distribution equipment is old here, if they put in a basic cable trap, TV can't recieve anything, so I'm getting all the channels in the standard cable package.The cable company won't fix it because that would take replacing all the equipment in the apartment complex which would cost them more than the few bucks they're losing to those few people that order only basic cable. They said I'm probably the only person in the complex that ordered just basic cable. The problem with the equipment is apparently not common knowlege or more people would take advantage of it. Thanks.(warning: rant ahead, skip two paragraphs)Not going to abandon it, but the sound engine annoys me. The problem is this: sound effects are grouped into categories (player sounds, item sounds, enemy sounds, etc.), and it can play only one of each at a time. This was done as a way to prevent overloading from the same sound playing too often (something common in platformers) but in the end Sol didn't end up having this issue. Instead, now it's being a hindrance to these kind of suggestions as they require being able to play the same sound effects several times, and each of those instances being processed separately. The sonar is rendered separately on its own mixer rather than through sound effects (hence why it uses beeps: it doesn't even touch the OGG files).I now have new sound code that doesn't have this issue but it's on a different game engine altogether and backporting it wouldn't be easy since it depends on some other f
 acilities (mostly dealing with low-level stuff like memory allocation and text processing). The idea is ultimately to port the whole game over to it, but that will take a long while, hence why I'm looking for quick hacks I can implement in the old engine instead but so far all seem rather bad. This is what's getting me annoyed.(rant over)Anyway, maybe I should try this idea anyway. Thinking about this, if I were to use sound effects instead of the screen reader, most of this code would be the same anyway save for a few lines, so either way the effort would be worth it, right? According to MalwareBytes I had some malware in my system. They are now gone, so I'm trying again to download the zip file with the .wav files in it. I kind of doubt it was the malware because I've not had any problems downloading anything else.

You need an account to download sounds which is free. If you need help with editting them or finding good ones, I'd be happy to help as I've worked on game sound design before

I have also went to the page you linked to, and it worked perfectly fine with Firefox and NVDA on Windows 7. I ran it first with adblock, and then I turned it off because ads are very script heavy these days. That caused NVDA to lag while moving, but not enough to freeze anything or to cause Firefox to give me an unresponsive script warning. It could be that something has installed an ad-on that injects its own scripts which could be causing this. Try running your browsers in safe mode and go to this site again (in Firefox, you choose "restart with ad-ons disabled" in the help menu, I'm not sure how you do this in IE). Then just go to your ad-ons in both browsers and see if you hav anything that probably shouldn't be there (toolbars and that sort of thing)

As I think more on this topic, I keep coming up with more multi book stories I've read and enjoyed.Harry Harrison's West of Eden series was pretty good, it's about a world like ours except that the dinosaurs never died out, so humans had to compete with them as they evolved.The three books in the series are, West of Eden, Winter in Eden, and Return to Eden.

I'll admit I'm a bit of a solo exploration sort of fellow myself, indeed the rangers might just suit me though I want to try things out first but from what I gathered sponsorship doesn't take being a social butterfly, and I'm not against paying subscriptions myself for a game so long as the game is worth it.My ony miner concern is speed of text processing for combat, sinse while I enjoy a little bit of mob murder while I'm off wandering I'm not keen on games where i need to be having my voice set so stupidly fast to keep 
 up I miss all the atmosphere and descriptions. Clok and Wayfare 1444 were fine, Aardwolf a little too quick in places, and Epitaff (at least at one point), too much though mostly due to it's habbit of chucking so many numbers at you at once, but this is a question I can't answer without experience and there is one way to do that.  l let people know my character name when I've got going.Edit: My character is  Esmund, I've done the first accalade however while doing the second I have run into a miner problem, sinse I can't find my way back to the blasted orphanage! one of the few problems with the guide system is it makes it rather hard to find your way back. I thought I had found it, but it seems to be the school instead which is somewhere else as I gather.I don't mind this, but a where command like alter's could be useful. I've tried textmap and it hasn't worked for some reason, so I'm rather wandering around at the moment. it doesn't particularly matter, however I am a little concerned if my newbie time runs out before I've solved where I'm going, sinse while as I said above I'm entirely happy with subscribing to a game, I'd ratherknow what the game itself is about before I begin.

I've only ever developed anything with BGT, I tried to set up a java environment, but everything was so complicated that I figured it wasn't worth the effort. I've been considering getting python and pygames set up, but lately I just haven't had a lot of motivation to push forward with anything.I made a brain warp pc re-creation that turned out pretty well. I still have my Crimson Currents game I'm working on, though figuring out what to do as far as a story goes is pretty rough, the demo is somewhere in new releases. I've also an online multiplayer card game in the works, and a half assed drag racing engine somewhat working, though trying to make an engine loop that sounds good at all RPMs is really, really, really, really hard. I really hope I can sit  down sometime soon and hammer at least one of these out for you guys to enjoy.

Clok and Wayfare 1444 were fine, Aardwolf a little too quick in places, and Epitaff (at least at one point), too much though mostly due to it's habbit of chucking so many numbers at you at once, but this is a question I can't answer without experience and there is one way to do that. Actually from reading the manual one thing I really! liked the sound of in avalon was the ability to try out different skills, classes (or whatever they're called),  and abilities before you make a final choice, sinse while I know broadly speaking the sort of stuff that I tend to be interested in doing in muds, it will depend upon how the game works. As I said, I tend to be a lone explorer and questing type, perhaps with a little prospecting, light combat or occasional crafting. I don't mind saying hi to other players, but I'm not exactly sociable either and would always rather be off in the wilds. I'l

I thought I had found it, but it seems to be the school instead which is somewhere else as I gather.I don't mind this, but a where command like alter's could be useful. I've tried textmap and it hasn't worked for some reason, so I'm rather wandering around at the moment. it doesn't particularly matter, however I am a little concerned if my newbie time runs out before I've solved where I'm going, sinse while as I said above I'm entirely happy with subscribing to a game, I'd ratherknow what the game itself is about before I begin.Edit the second: okay, as 
 it turned out I was looking for the orphanage in the right place, just some crazy bug wasn't letting me back in to finish my  accolade, but a very kind player (I think she was an admin), helped me out. I'll head back tomorrow and continue on the noob hood. Oddly enough, when i type credits I'm told I have 8.8  hours of credits left, so I presume that it's more than five hours, which is good sinse I'd like time before I make my mind up about the game or start requesting sponsorship or whatever.

I hope there is room on this particular band wagon, sinse Well methinks it's time for me to give the game a go, so I'll punch up Vipmud and do that . On the sponsorship thinng, actually it's mentioned in the manual as I recall. I can't say it's something that bothered me particularly. I'll admit I'm a bit of a solo exploration sort of fellow myself, indeed the rangers might just suit me though I want to try things out first but from what I gathered sponsorship doesn't take being a social butterfly, and I'm not against paying subscriptions myself for a game so long as the game is worth it.My ony miner concern is speed of text processing for combat, sinse while I enjoy a little bit of mob murder while I'm off wandering I'm not keen on games where i need to be having my voice set so stupidly fast to keep 
 up I miss all the atmosphere and descriptions. I've not started levelling any skills yet sinse it seems a bit silly until i decide what I want to be doing or unless I need any for any quests etc, particularly sinse I  this sort of running around and questing and exploring that the novice quests are made of is just my cup of te
 a so I want to get as complete a look and do as much of it as I can.

@32, no, there is not. There is FreeSL for audio environmental affects, but there is no library that actually will help you make audio games. I and a friend are working on one, but until it is complete (if it ever does get complete) you'll have to develop games manually. I do have books that teach you how to develop games in C++ using SDL and SFML, too, so if any of you are interested...

@GeneWarner, AVG is extremely accessible for me. It's the installer that sucks; after you get passed the installation process, it's completely accessible. Don't base a program's accessibility based on it's installer. That will hinder you dearly.

So I followed the directions toget the jump shoes in 6-3 but it just sends me back to the left with no sceen. Also is there a way to beat the building in 8-4? I can't seem to hit it.
