RTR is still pretty great if you set up your own server and invite people you know are fun to play with.Also, audio quake still exists and is kinda fun with some friends.And Swamp, but it's paid and the community is pretty shit now from what I saw last, but it's still quite good alone.

Righto, so my speed-demons team is done.All manamon are named, are at level 15, have preferred specific stats (which I've made note of for my own reference). All manamon have equipment and a held item, which again, I've made note of.What I'm looking for is someone to throw me six burner manamon (I don't care what they are) and to take my six into custody for a bit. Please don't level them or tamper with them in any way beyond storing them or whatnot. In the meantime, I will be putting my good save file out of the way, making a new one, grinding through the first stadium, catching six burner manamon of my own, and will then hope to connect with you in order to get my good six back. Estimated time between transfers on my end is approximately fifty to seventy minutes.Anyone willing?

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

As I have said, I can understand being annoyed by either side. I'm not trying to imply that if you're annoyed by me referencing the search feature, you're an awful, horrible person. Heck no. I'm also not the only person who does this, and the group of us who are doing it are pretty much doing it for the reason you advertised (i.e., obvious questions with obvious answers already provided in many cases). It is pretty upsetting to see the same stuff being asked over and over again, and I personally believe that the only way to improve forum etiquette, as it were, is to challenge pre-existing bad behaviours and hope that some people learn. If that means ruffling a few feathers, I'm okay with that, and I don't think that makes me an unsuitable staff member. And I guess, right there, that's the crux of it. I won't be hurt if you find me occasionally annoying or off-putting, won't even be upset if you tell me so. That, on its own? Go right ahead. But trying to imply that I'm a bad mod because I do this? Trying to imply that I'm not allowed to voice criticism of the game? Trying to imply that people will disappear if they criticize too loudly? It's ridiculous, and I'm sick of it. None of it has much merit and the scare-mongering is just designed to inflame tempers.Now, on a game-related note, I'm gonna go post a note in the trade and battle lobby. I've made my speed-demons team and am wondering if anyone wants to babysit it for an hour or so while I stash this save file, make a new one, grind up six mons, open online functionality by beating the first stadium, and can then connect with you and get my mons back. I'm pretty quick, so this shouldn't be a days-long endeavour. Honk, I believe you did this for me last time, and it went off without a hitch. Thanks again for that, by the way.

Re: I tend to sleep during studies/learning something new.

Hi Pool,my advice would be for you to try to occupy yourself with something. Ideally you probably want to take notes. Try to take a note at least every ten seconds, even if it doesn't seem to be to important. That keeps you awake and also improves the long time memory of what you're listening to.Hope that helps, constant tiredness can also come from other sources than only weak attention. Make also sure that you don't have sleep apnea or similar sleeping disorders.

Regarding the shitstorm about the search feature:On the one hand I'm also pretty annoyed at times about the question culture of some people. It leaves a really bad taste if you can clearly see that they haven't put any efford in their question or in finding out the answer but demand us putting efford into an answer that is detailed enough to make sense.On the other hand I think the "use the search-feature, Luke" posts don't help at all. Those who ask this kind of questions won't bother, are maybe to young or socially awkward to have a proper forum etiquette. So I personally believe that this responses are just helping to inflate this threat and worsen its overall atmosphere.Maybe I'm to pessimistic here though and spamposting the search link will improve our forum here... But for the time being I am quietly very irritated by dumb questions and quietly a little annoyed about people spamming the search link.

Re: How do you cook on a flat-top stove?

Hot oil intimidates me IMHO, but I've done lots of other stuff on flt burners. You can move your hand in a circle round the outside of your pot or pan,  few inches bove the burner, to see it the whole thing is cooking. lso, with pots, you can lightly touch the outside edges, even while it's really hot, without getting burned. I'm talking about the side of the pot, far enough above the stove top to not hurt yourself. It's mostly just  a practice thing I think. The more you do it, the easier it should get to make sure your pot or pan is centered on the burner by rotating your hand over the heat.

Re: Pygame or PyQt which Gui?

Pygame, Pyglet, wxPython, PyQt, etc. They all have uses outside gaming, it just depends on what you plan on doing. Libraries like PyQt and wxPython though tend to be optimized more towards sharing resources with the system, and for losing context to other programs, whereas Pyglet and Pygame tend to take more control and share less for higher performance or for running continuous simulations. As an example though, for BrushTone I used Pyglet, though in other projects i've used wxPython for a menu widget system and combined it with an OpenGL context from Pyglet into the backend for better image data handling, such as with AudiMesh3D. Neither of those projects required dedicated control for a continuous simulation or high performance, so it didn't really matter if they lost focus.

Re: Pygame or PyQt which Gui?

@3, this is incorrect. WXPython and QT are both accessible; it is the custom elements and widgets that are not. I would however not recommend you use a non-game-specific GUI in your game without a very good reason and before the game loop takes control of the program. After you have handed control to the game loop, you should not use any more non-game-specific GUI functionality (i.e. use SFGUI for SFML over QT). Doing this is not only a bad idea but most likely won't work. This is because non-game-specific GUIs (called standard GUIs, instead of immediate-mode ones) are designed to run on the applications main thread and control the application entirely or nearly so. Using a non-immediate-mode GUI in your main thread will cause extreme harm to your games performance because the game loop will be unable to execute anything. In the game, the entire universe will halt waiting for that GUI loop to terminate, which may never happen; and if or when it does, everything that was queued up during that blocking cycle will execute simultaneously. The execution of the GUI loop also has a very high chance of destabilizing your game loop -- which is never good.To put this into perspective, when your game loop is running, physics, graphics, sound position and 3D calculations, etc., are being executed all in a strict, serialized order. This execution  may happen hundreds of times a second -- this is the frames per second, or FPS, because each execution of that game loop is a frame. If you then run a standard GUI loop in the middle of that game loops execution, the FPS drops to zero and the universe is dead until that loop terminates.Typically, the game loop uses some formula to calculate precisely how long it should wait for the next frame. During this time window, the loop sleeps. As an example, typically I set my FPS to (say) 60, then calculate the number of milliseconds to sleep by dividing 1000 by the number of frames, i.e.:import time
fps = 60
sleep_ticks = int(1000 / fps)
next_game_tick = int(time.time())
sleep_time = 0Then, in my game loop:next_game_tick += skip_ticks
sleep_time = next_game_tick -int( time.time())
if sleep_time>=0:
  time.sleep(sleep_time / 1000)
# game loop goes hereNote that the usage of the time package is discouraged and you should use a far more accurate time measurement system like Pygames clock system. The usage of the time package was purely illustrative.Note that this game loop is only one way of making a game loop. There are various ways of makign one, but this one is constant and there is less difficulty with it, so it is easier to get started with. I strongly encourage you to explore other avenues for game loop code; perhaps you may find a way for game loops and GUI loops to coexist.
