Re: How to make music with out midi keyboard? @9The problem with the music languages is that music itself is fundamentally 2D, but text is fundamentally 1D. For example, if you have a measure where there's 2 half notes forming a baseline and 4 quarter notes in the melody, you have to write them out as separate unrelated strings whereas a sighted person would be able to just see them stacked right next to each other and someone on a keyboard can just play it. So to that end I've found the music programming languages cumbersome. But if you want something good for midi, the best I know of is zel. It still has all these problems, but it's at least a reasonable attempt.Csound is an interesting language and, the next time I need to experiment with DSP without using C/C++, I'll probably reach for it. Its scoring language reads like this:i 1 2 3 2 3 2 4With one note per line, and no I don't remember the order of the parameters. You don't even get symbolic note names by default and by default you also have to use absolute times as well. But the instrument design portions are amazing and can literally do anything, so if you want a playground for learning DSP and how to design instruments Csound connected to a keyboard is a pretty good thing to try. The only thing that beats it to my knowledge is Faust which is way worse at realtime experimentation, and I'm coding 3D audio library 3 so my knowledge is pretty extensive. Specifically where everything but csound and faust fall down are recursive effects like reverb, waveguide synthesis, a bunch of other stuff where the end feeds back into the beginning, because for that you have to basically have a little compiler instead of just a bunch of blokcs you stick together.Mind you there's o built-in instruments, so that "the instrument design part is amazing" comes with the clarification that you'll be designing them whether you want to or not, or finding other people's to bring into your project. But as Synthizer gets more advanced, I'll probably end up using csound to experiment before trying to code the C++ versions of various effects. Swiping from there could then lead to things such as the head, body, arms etc.I'm a totally blind person and I find path of adventure one of my favourites. I can't see what text is highlighted.Another app to try would be: Choice of Games, and Hosted Games. These have some free adventures, like Choice of The Dragon. In that app, you get: the back button, the game's title, and a show stats button, always, consistently, per game. Re: Lords And Knights: Who's still playing? @bcs993, in my case it wasn't even that I got trounced by someone else, just that basically the game seemed to be composed of either level 1 players who had abandoned castle, so my troops just walked in and took stuff, or high level players who did the same to me. The pvp didnt' even feel really like anything strategic, it was just alternating bashing straw dolls or just getting mowed down myself. Then of course, the fact that I seemed to run out of missions and tasks to do (especially since I remember the access on the mission screen was a bit weird), didn't help much either. Actually, I'd have much rather the game had! been single player myself, with challenges to do and enemies who scaled to require defeating as in something like Homequest, which actually I'm finding pretty dam awesome at the moment and have spent far more time and trouble on than I ever did lords and knights. then again, I'll freely admit, pvp is less my thing anyway. I agree the PVP aspect of it can suck, especially if someone who's spending loads of money is buying their way to the top and decides that you should be conquered next. What I used to like about it was the alliance part. If you have a great team it's far more enjoyable than just grinding it out on your own. I realised that I needed a distraction from real life issues and the current lockdown so figured I'd pick it back up and see how much I like it. As for the Android version: I unfortunately don't have an android device, but have you tested it out with the different screenreaders, such as Commentary? It's possible that it may work with one where it's not working with another. You can always contact the developers and explain exactly what issues you're having with the map. Back when I started playing, Voiceover had bugs and they were very responsive in resolving them. I have been ignoring this topic for a month and a half, and in that time, India opened the lockdown (In the name of the economy,) several idiot celebrities got infected with this, and now the virus is slowly making its way upward within the political class.Just two or so days ago, the chief minister of my state got sick with Corona, while all the politicians demonstrate their hypocrisy to tell us to wear masks, while ignoring it on a national tv channel no less, while preparing for elections in the states. (I don't protest wearing masks, I just don't think that public would obey to someone who doesn't follow the guidelines which they tell us to follow.)I also think that never have I observed this more clearly then now that India holds too many elections. from the big one for the prime minister, to state elections for the chief ministers, (Those happen all the time, I feel sometimes,) and then there are smaller elections for village heads... If you're confused, don't worry. I have lived here for 21 years, and I still to this day can't rap my head around this. c pointers are easier to understand then this.My only regret is that I couldn't get the masks like ANBU used in Naruto, or the mask which Kakashi wheres. Also, eating and drinking without removing mask would be real useful now, too bad we don't have access to the universe of Naruto, I would have learned that from Kakashi. Of course you can set enter, but that will make enter the a button in games too. But honestly I'd rather just go grey all the way and take stuff that does damage and then healing. So I got a dilemma again when I snag my next token. I'm torn on if I want force prowess or battle strike. I'm tempted to respec, go heal/battle strike/prowess (so two healing powers yay) and then see what my fourth token will be.I mean Jedi Battlemaster gets ride/pilot/etc for skills and a whole crapload of stuff the dark side don't off the bat in templates. Admittedly I just took heal and three grey powers, but...I'm kind of missing an amazingly good AoE power. If anyone can sell me on respeccing to Sith and going with that and finding an IC reason for them to be in the Rebels (aside from my idea of him casting his lot in and eing all eff the empire, they screwed me over)...I'm all ears.I'm fairly sure it's also the stuff I'm fighting too, like heavy armor takes me down to 10-16 damage. Which given I'm a saber useer user /and/ they resist my force powers...not cool, man. Not cool. On the other hand. I love force heal in the middle of fights though.Spring attack is absolutely amazingly good. Even if I miss my opening attack I can usually get a spring attack or two in. I love it when enemies are too tired to fight, try disarming or tripping me, and get hit by it. As long as i can remember it always looked and worked the same but i mean i wasn't there for ever. @11 Yes it is, but what i mend and probably also ironcross was chrome launching extra programs that are not needed at all for the browser to work, example, software reporter tool.exe, but still even get a 4 core machine to waste tuns of resources for unknown actions and also ram. Also this tool doesn't close when you close chrome which means that it is hard to close with new task manager. As of right now I'm playing without sounds, but that's just because I don't exactly need them for much. I'll see if I can add some communications sounds and a health meter. Also, if anybody can tell me how to force a new line using the add_new_line_to_prompt plugin that'd be great. I've no experience with regexp. I don't know if any of the free choice of games and hosted games titles are available through Steam, though if you want to play those your probably better off using the website or the Ios or android aps anyway since all of those distribution platforms are far more accessible and far less hassle, and the games will just be the same either way.Ditto for the demo versions of games like code 7 and audio wizards, both of which are more readily available elsewhere.To be honest, Steam itself isn't anything to right home about, it's essentially just a glorified copy protection system with a crappy interface and a centralised web community. The games available through steam aren't really different to the games sold anywhere else, they're made by large and small developers, in different programming languages, using sound or text as needed. The only reason to bother with Steam is because a few accessible games, some like Slay the spire and sequence storm astoundingly good ones, have been sold through it. This is a good thing in general terms, since it means that games like a blind legend and audio wizards will be far more prominently available to the sighted gaming community, and , but in terms of audiogames, due to the stupidity of the interface and Valve, the company that own's Steam's utter disinterest in accessibility, I'd personally only recommend using Steam if there's something you specifically want to buy and play on it. Things over here continue rather crazy with us still observing lockdown, though my mum's found us a couple of medical face masks so we might at least try to go out to a cafe at some point in the near future once those turn up. In general though, I'm worried by the fact nobody seems to bloody know what they're doing. First, The government basically tells everyone that they're establishing holliday destinations to countries like Italy, Greice, France and germany, since you know everyone is now supposed to go and spend money on hollidays and get the economy working, never mind that evidence suggests that in several countries rates are on the increase again and people should! still be being careful. Then, there's an outbreak in Spain and we have a two week quarantine for just! Spain, whereupon the travel industry throws another hissy fit as per usual! For goodness sake! It's all a god aweful mess to be honest. Ironically, the actual lock down when the government was clear on things made a good bit more sense, indeed I almost kind of miss the way things were a few months ago (for a start, with no traffic it was much quieter and the air far cleaner when you did go out).As to education? I'm sorry for people mixed up in this at the moment, though at least we live in the age of mass communication, imagine how things would've been in the early nineties with net connections being a rarity.As for me, still basically alternating between Erion, writing, running with the zombies and also reading Duma Kee with Mrs. Dark, which is proving good, if a little sedate in terms of pacing. I'm also starting season 4 of Game of thrones today, so I'm going to be greated by the wonderful site of Jofri finally choking on his own arrogance .Hope everyone else is still doing okay. Re: your thoughts: endless v.s. goal orientated As the type of person who likes action-oriented arcade games, it's kind of a tough call for me.I don't quite know what I think of putting endless games against goal-oriented games. I don't think they have to be mutually exclusive. A game can be endless and goal-oriented too. Often the goal of endless games is to better your own skills, reach a higher level, compete on scoreboards etc.For me, the goal of many games is to at least get to see the toughest enemy, mechanic etc. and see how it works. That's my goal in any game, but doubly so for endless ones. But games with scripted endings often rely on this dynamic too, in addition to whatever scripted ending the game provides which may be so difficult to reach, especially at first, that getting used to the more mechanics takes full precedent for a while. And there are a few games, not audio games, but a few mainstream ones, where I'm not even sure if there's a scripted ending or not; back when my family was obsessed with Candy Crush, they didn't even know if there was an ending or not, but somehow the game kept on giving them more and more levels to play, so they obviously played it with the goal of completing levels. I don't know if they even cared about whether there was an ending or not. Some thought there must be, but others thought it would somehow go on forever, and I don't know which it is. So this can get blurry if you think about it long enough.I'm personally not super picky about whether games have endings or not, or whether the game has inherent goals. I don't mind endless, because it gives me the freedom to set my own challenges. I greatly enjoy challenges. I stop enjoying a game when I either, 1, have begun to find the gameplay so challenging that I can't find it in me to hope for improvement anymore, or 2, if the gameplay becomes dull and I can't find the challenge anymore. But if the challenge is balanced right, then I'll happily play even a stupid arcade time-waster, at least for a little while. But I know people who think such games are pointless. They don't understand why someone would play a game which is destined to end in their death because there's no alternative. So, it really is a personal thing I guess.I also really like games which give you goals too, like complete the story. I'm not opposed to those at all, provided that the challenge is balanced right. I want at least the last level to be challenging enough that I'm on the edge of my seat getting my nerves stretched nearly to breaking point. If the last boss isn't doing that, I can't find it in me to enjoy the game, no matter how exciting the story gets, because i'm not much for story. I'll read storylines, and try to understand them to a point, but I want to get into the action. Fortunately, most games, whether they're story-driven, goal-oriented, time-wasters etc. often have ways to make the game more difficult, and there are very few games which keep me comfortable at high difficulty settings. I've managed to beat a number of audio games at the highest difficulty level, but very few were still easy at that point. In fact, there are a fair number of audio games which I am afraid to play at anything higher than easy or normal, so if I get depressed about not having new games to play, I can at least find comfort in the fact that there is truly hard stuff out there for me to tackle if I'm feeling particularly sadistic and want to know where my limits are.Challenge has its downfalls though; a fair number of recently released endless audio games just don't do it for me. They ramp up the difficulty in a jerky way. I remember a few games in particular where I was fine for 30 seconds, and then after that I got killed without knowing why. Even after I've gotten over the shift in pace, I still have a hard time working out if it's really a sudden shift or if something is wrong with me lol. But with some other games, the difficulty ramps up smoothly, at least for me. I have a hard time drawing lines between easy, medium, hard and unsurviveable because the ramp is so smooth, and that kind of smooth progression is what I seek in any game. Re: your thoughts: endless v.s. goal orientated I actually think the people mentioning endless with goals have a point here, since to me at least, even if the game itself is theoretically endless or the goals take a long time to achieve, I'll always spend longer just trying to achieve something than playing on simply seeing numbers get bigger, even more so if the goals are stories or quests, or even parts of a larger story. Even with simple arcade games, I'm far more likely to go on playing if I get some sort of achievements for successive games, rather than each game simply being an exercise in wracking up the highest score possible, look at something like beatstar as an example. I still find the steam client itself to be a completely garbled barely usable hog of a program, however fortunately once you've created an account on the steam website, installed Steam and made a desktop shortcut with the instructions mentioned in the guide, you don't actually need the Steam client at all. All of the functions like buying and downloading games, checking stats etc can be done from the website, and once the games are downloaded, you can run them with a program shortcut like any other program (just remember to run steam first). Well, a pile of crap with totally screwed audio mixing, wrong implemented navigation / battle system (well, battle in this game is just the most frustrating and boring I ever seen in turn-based games)Main problem with navigation is how slow it works. Waiting for these click after every single step is just boring and frustrating making me sleepy. Voice acting is kinda interesting but the mixing sucks plus so sad, they replaced the previous actor who played inquisitor, He was wy much better!No idea if I am just the one who needs really solid games (not complex, it is different!) but I can't see solid and stability in their productions.Look for japanese devs for example and you will understand what I mean by saying solid gameplay and stable game with complex (but not all the times) and fantastic even if the easy gameplay (Nyanchan small projects or Audio strike, just examples)And finally, don't judge the game by how it sounds! Account problem with dream land. I was playing dream land and in hang up mode when my internet went very slow and it disconnected.I tried to log in a few times, but after a while, I quit the game and returned. So When i tried logging in again it said account or password error. Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end? i seriously can't be bothered going back to look for the post about masks not fitting and leaving a gap under the eyes, but i bought a pack of 10 cotton ones with elastic off amazon. turned up today. fit perfect, no breathing issues and no gaps. 8 quid for a pack of 10. i should also point out that i have a condition where my mid face is set back slightly so i would be more likely to have problems with facial coverings leaving gaps under my eyes. so i call shinanigans! on the claim that they don't fit. if they don't, you're doing it wrong.
