Re: is there a python module to get a subject of a sentence?

hi,from what you've said, thats somehow topic modelingbut keep in mind that first, sentences are based on context (which depends on many factors like time, place and so on), and second, you require lots and lots and lots of data (for classification).what you need to do, is to train a word vector (gensim, spacy have it, or you can use an embedding layour which is not as accurate as word vectors by themselves), and then what I'd do is to train that with some convolutional layours and a rnn layour at the end.also, there are some topic modeling services, which are paid.suppose this:"when the election was over, he broke the country"which should be classified as politics.or, "he paid one milian dollars to bet for the election" which can be classified as money (and sometimes will be miss classified as politics)what you said in your first post was the topic,, not the subject (parsing subjects requires parsing the grammar of the sentence)for example, the subject of "X plays piano" is X, and the subject of "SQLServer was developed by Microsoft" is microsoft, not SQLServer.so, what you've said is topic modeling.

Re: Monthly chat, November 2020

Well I appreciate that people usually find my random thoughts amusing, although I admit with things as they are currently, I'm not really feeling amusing right now, however, to clear up one matter. I haven't been mentioning my lady's name for the same reason I haven't tended to mention mine. Back in the early 2000's when I got online, I had this idea that even mentioning your first name online was a way to get in serious trouble and invite credit fraud, probable kidnapping and voodoo curses, so I started calling myself "dark", from the main character of a now abandoned post apocalyptic novel I was trying to write (he was a tiny, very sarcastic assassin adept in the use of knives).I have relaxed on the name issue, indeed as I said in the character names topic, my first name is actually Luke (which means that yes, I have  endured a life time of starwars references!), albeit that these days I've been called Dark so long I pretty much consider it as much my name as Luke and actually respond to either. Interestingly enough, when my lady and I first met on that mailing list in 2015, she referred to me constantly as "dark", and wasn't entirely sure I was male for a while. So, all this is to say that yes, I've been rather avoiding mentioning my lady's name, although I do know some members of the community ran into her on Klango, or less commonly on the Zone as Belsong or Talea. However, I mentioned the Dwarver's comment in post eleven to her, and she was rather amusedly appalled, since yes, she is definitely female, my lady, my wife, and therefore relates to me as "Mrs. Dark", so is certainly not called John.Actually, her name is Leslie, and to any English people, no that is not like the Scottish TV presenter John Lesley, it's actually Leslie Anne .Okay, all of that sorted out November is proving to be cold, grimy, full of lockdown restrictions and actually rather tense. My lady and I have been on election watch for the last couple of nights since we're both frankly worried about what could be going on in the states at the moment. to distract ourselves, we've also been reading Stephen King's The Shining, which yes, is a bit of a weird thing to do, to escape a grim reality by reading about ghostly hotels turning people into raging insane killers! .Aside from both the election and the Lockdown, Reever, my guide dog was officially retired on Monday, and the representative from guide dogs turned up to take her harness. This is not unexpected, she's nearly eleven and we've known for the last year she's been slowing down rather, but it's still a bit of a sad event, though she'll continue to live with us of course. Other than that, not too much to report, since basically we've not particularly stopped lockdown, and now the country is going into more lockdown, so I've pretty much been hanging around, banging out more book reviews and getting back to games. For some reason, I've been in the mood for more relaxed things at the moment, so have been alternating warsim and cosmic rage, indeed for my thoughts on cosmic rage activities, see my topic in general game discussion. Actually, one fun thing about Cosmic rage is being able to do it while watching youtube videos or something else, albeit I need to try out more ship combat and get around to fixing my character some new armour and maybe a stun crystal, annoying though it is that I have to go through others for this.I'd like to get back to something a bit more active, indeed it's nearly a year since I started my play through of Manamon 1, and so I probably need to get to the second game. Also, having finished Game of thrones, my next series is probably going to be The Boys, since I do have amazon prime so can watch it. I was tempted to do doctor who season 12, however since on Amazon I'd have to pay 15 quid for it, it's just not worth it, considering that I can watch it for free when I eventually see my parents again, and quite honest as usual with Doctor who, the audios are always better anyway. My brother really wants to buy my lady and I a Disney plus subscription, but honestly I'm sort of struggling to see how I'd use it, indeed if anyone knows anything interesting on Disney plus I'd be interested to hear, since while I know they have all the Marvel films, I really don't care for superheroes, and while I've heard vaguely good things about the Mandalorian series, my lady and I are just a bit burned out on star wars after the train wreck of the last two films.I'm also having major trouble finding an agent or publisher, since apparently blind people aren't minorities, and not having an "edgy female voice", apparently makes you unpublishable at the moment, which is sort of ironic given that probably %50 of the characters I write are female anyway.

Hi there everybody!Firstly, we've just rolled out a new build, it will be active on iOS by tomorrow night. We've also just rolled out a new Android build, again it should be available shortly and will make the game compatible with more devices. The update includes two new thugs to take on, and a couple of small changes to make the game slightly easier, as well as a 'wrap around' menu, as suggested. Now to specifics, in order to dodge you swipe to the left or right side of the screen. If you hear a punch coming to the left hand side, swipe to the left. If you hear it to the right, swipe to the right.Make sure you have any accessibility features turned off, as this game does require them and they may interfere as some players have found. We can't wait for the full launch tomorrow, we'll be launching the PC and Mac versions then. If you could tell your friends about it, we'd be hugely appreciative. This has been a huge amount of work for us and a success here could seriously help the company, as well as speed up development of A Dusklight Story. All the bestHarry, Connor and Jordan.

Precisely because most developers who are both blind and young don't have as much of an imagination and no quality games to draw from, and because inovation takes time where most said developers want to get a game out as fast as they can in a simple programming language.

Re: Books by Stephen King

Okay, as has happened several times in this topic, I'm engaging in thradcromancy because my lady and I just finished reading the shining. This was a second read for me, indeed it was interesting going back to page 1 of this topic, since I first read the shining in I believe 2011, and was surprised how good it was. Also, my lady and I have now finally! seen the Cubric film version, which is a very good film, but a vastly different story, and also distinctly unfair to several characters, portraying Jack Torrence as a one dimentional monster, making poor Dick Halloran have far less impact on the plot (really he pretty much just delivers the getaway vehicle and gets killed), and oddly enough, missing out almost entirely  on the books' ending.Okay, I loved the characters in this one here particularly. I recall King remarking in an interview at one point that his first draught of the book simply portrayed Jack as nothing but an alcoholic, abusive monster right from the start, but then having the idea of how the book would look if Jack genuinely loved his son. this for me is what makes the book truly compelling, since the Jack torrence we meet at the start of the book is someone who is trying to make good after doing some genuinely horrible things, be a good husband and father and clean up his alcoholism. Whether he would have actually managed if it weren't for the hotel's influence is an interesting question in itself, and not one with a definite answer, since even up until the end, the hotel is very much working with what is there, enhancing Jack's feelings of inferiority and misplaced hatred, indeed it's interesting that you see it try a similar thing with Dick Haloran right towards the very end, working on his own resentment at racism he's experienced , but Dick is able to fight things off. I'll also say, that usually when I don't really like the cliche of the man who has endured abuse turning into a monster, King here makes it both credible and believable, since we understand why jack goes as wrong as he does, and exactly what buttons the hotel is pushing. Getting away from Jack though, the other characters are just as complex, dick, Wendy, even Danny, all have their own forms of journey to go through. I will say, I do think King made a few mistakes with Danny's pov, since often he used language which expressed concepts that a five or six year old wouldn't know, for example when he describes clouds as "pregnant with rain", or the like. This felt a bit jarring, especially when he was showing Danny's actual thoughts, like his referring to Jack's drinking as "the bad thing." Wendy is also one of King's best female characters, particularly her complicated feelings towards her son and jack, even down to her slight jealousy at Danny placing Jack over her in his affections. I also really liked how Wendy accepts Danny's abilities, and eventually, just accepts how completely wrong the hotel is, even as she stands up to things and is pretty all around awesome, indeed while my lady has noted that several of King's early female characters become wet tissues, over emotional and constantly crying (particularly Franny goldsmith from The Stand), Wendy is not one of them. This is particularly notable given that, being literally fifty years old, the social expectations the Shining depicts obviously aren't modern, for example the way that though Wendy has the same level of education as Jack, it is he that has the major career aspirations which are derailed by his alcoholism, and it's just assumed Wendy won't have too many aspirations beyond looking after the house and raising her son. Getting onto plot, wow this one is creepy! I admit I found the focus on some of the hotel's history a bit overly dry, and unecessary, but whenever King was working just with characters and the generally scary stuff at the overlook hotel, frrom ghostly voices to mysterious party favours turning up unexpectedly, the book was fantastic. indeed, it's interesting that you pretty much know what the books' final confrontation will be right from the start, but here's it's very much about the journey not the destination. My only niggle with plot progression, is I did feel the hole "red rum" thing was a bit belaboured, given that the word doesn't appear anywhere, and while it's understandable that a five year old who barely knows how to spell would need to work out what "red rum", is spelled backwards, the fact that it accompanies visions of Danny's insane father whacking away with a roque mallet, didn't exactly make it too mysterious, indeed this is one aspect of the plot that turns up rather better in the film given that Wendy writes "murder", on the bathroom mirror with lipstick. In general there's really not much to say, The Shining is just an incredibly good horror novel executed extremely well, combining humand and inhuman horror with strange visions and reality, indeed like Sherly Jackson's Haunting of Hill House it

@65 and 66:It is also a quantity issue. The biggest part of the video game market even for sighted people also consists of mindless, poor quality clones with no risks taken. Because innovation is risky, what if people don't like your idea?Instead they just reiterate the same proven mechanics, shamelessly copy other successful games and only improve on game size or graphics quality. The innovation comes either from gigantic publishers who can even afford to lose dozens of million dollars on a failed product (rarely the case but you have people like Rockstar for this) or from a handful of indie developers who don't have anything to lose at all.But they firstly can draw on the much broader collective development experience from the really huge pool of already existing games and secondly they kind of have to shine with innovation to stick out from the million of contenders for your average gamer attention. It is like evolution. The bigger the gene pool the more likely it is to improve. The only difference is: we have the opportunity to control this change. Our game market has to grow out of entropic evolution and into gene manipulation. But for that people have to actually start thinking about games in a much more abstract way and therefor need to really understand games and gaming. I seriously miss the meta communication about games. No one seems to care about game theory here, they always talk about features and implementation - so about the how, never about the why. That's the other reason why we don't have audio game innovation. In order to change something you have to understand it first. Most people here including a sizeable part of the devs don't understand games at all. It is frustrating at times why this post transformed into another disconnected rant instead of the constructive, well structured post I first wanted to write. Have fun dealing with it

Re: Seriously, what is it you guys want?

@51While I agree with you in part, surely it's better to have a large number of "OK" games, than a staggeringly small number of "great" ones?I'm sure the mainstream games industry doesn't pump out smash hit after smash hit. I'm sure there's a whole bunch of "alright" indie game titles out there. Also, are you saying new developers shouldn't be allowed to release anything or be recognised for releasing sub-par games? How are they ever going to get to swamp level if they don't write guess the number and Hangman?@55I do actually sort of agree with you. I know the people who will play anything I release will be the same crowd every time, and I can largely predict the responses to anything I come up with. I suspect many feel the same. Also, on the subject of graphics, I would guess (although possibly not argue), that it is easier to come up with better mechanics when you're using graphics, because there are so many tools for rendering things in interesting ways.I guess what I'm saying is I imagine it's easier to create something spectacular-looking with a little bit of code than it is to make something spectacular-sounding with the same amount of code.@66Do you blame them / us?You spend tons of time and effort making an amazing game, and people complain it's too expensive, or the audio isn't quite up to their exacting standards, or the acting is crap, or the right polarising microphone pattern wasn't used in the granulated pop shield of the USB bus audio jack or something (yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about). You make a cheap game and people say it's a clone, or it's not interesting / playable / replayable / engaging enough.Bottom line: You get the same crap no matter how much effort you put in. So why not put in the minimum?@everyoneI've got me a great idea: Why not have an audiogames.net hall of fame?Make a ranking system for every game that has been released, or that gets released. The one with the most points at the end of the month gets a special logo by it, and the developer gains the right to download and use a special audio segment in their loading screen that proclaims their game as having entered the audiogames.net hall of fame. Also, their game gets put on the Hall of Fame part of the site for all to see with great fanfare and backslapping.I'd even go so far as to say try and get funding from some blind association or other to give a £50 Amazon voucher to the developer who collectively has the most points over the year or something. Really push the incentive.Encourage people to make awesome games, not discourage them from making anything other than awesome games.

@67Please don't take this as my usual sarcasm, because I'm being deadly serious: it sounds like you really "get" games, certainly in a way that I do not.How would you feel about doing some kind of webinar to talk about game history, and the "why" that you mention? I'd be very interested to hear your take, and I'm sure others would too. Maybe team up with some of the other gamers on here that are active in the mainstream gaming community. Stream a little bit of what is good in your opinion? A kind of "religious icons in gaming for the uninitiated" type thing.I'm personally not interested in buying a Playstation or anything else, and I'm perfectly happy playing audio games. That said, I would absolutely love to bring some of the innovation and mechanics you're talking about into my engine, and any products I release with it.

Re: Seriously, what is it you guys want?

@65-67:You got me thinking, but I want to disagree on the clones/milking argument though. Not every publisher or indie dev does this, really. If you make a huge indie game the big dogs will take notice and either buy your game or make their own version of it, now obviously you got outliers like, well, check the Indie games on Steam and see what's the top sellers though? And even if it's not a big dog, people will trend chase (see the games based on memes on mobiles) and so forth). Now here's a few ideas from two games I enjoyed many many years ago.1. One Finger Death Punch. It is...absolutely awesome. You are in the middle of the screen and have to fight off things that come at you from both sides, this could quite easily be done in audio I feel2. Divekick, simple, two button fighter. One to dive, one to...well...kick.Both of those are amazing becausehey, they are simple and enjoyable enough with enough charm and quirks. In this community though they'd likely be derided as oh simple little games. Do I regret buying either of them? Nah, because they are hugely fun, and simple to play.

Hi. Going off the top of my head here, to download something off github, you go to the code section. Then I believe there should be an expandable button called, either files or code. Can't remember. Eitherways, hit the expandable button, and there should be a link called download zip. Click that and you will be fine. Sorry If I wasn't clear enough, I don't remember all the details off-hand, just the general process. HTHS

Just get it on steam, that way, you can install mods from the steam workshop with a single click. But anyway, not everything has releases. Sometimes you need to hit the code button and go to copy to clipboard, then clone it with the command line or download the master.zip. I've also discovered that the desktop tool is completely accessible.

Re: does any one here work out in gaining mass and mussle?

Yes, I work out every day. I used to go to the gym, but do to C O V I D 19 I've been doing it at home. Need something accessible? Jenny Ford. All of her workouts are good for blind and sighted people, and their are modifications if you're a beginner. She mainly does Step Aerobics workouts, but their are also weights, cardio intervals, step and weights combinations and all kinds of other things. Most of them are free, just go to Youtube and search Jenny Ford fitness. You should find all the workouts, accept the ones that need to be purchased. Also, you can do the step workouts if you don't have a step bench so getting one isn't required. You can't do all of them without a bench, but some can be done without one. I baught a step bench for only $20 two years ago, and ever since then I've been adicted to these excersizes. You'll see what I mean if you've played The Blank Game 2. Anyway, try them if you're looking for something that blind people can do with no assistance. Some of the moves are a bit confusing like L step slide Shasay Mambo, but she doesn't describe those because it's likely that you know what an L Step is and you can easily learn what some of the dance moves are by either looking them up on the internet or asking someone to describe them to you. Dancing doesn't even happen until Unexpected Step and Spicy Step, both of which are advanced. Even if you're not a beginner, you should probably do the free beginner step workout one time just to learn how to step. If you need something with even more narration, purchase Step Hero. It's only $30 and contains 6 workouts that get harder and harder, the first teaching you all the moves up until the sixth which is the introduction to combos. Also even if a workout says "level: basic", don't think it's boring. It's not, a lot of them say "basic" and I finish with a high heart rate and over 1700 callories burned.

Also, if you want to have an audible alert when the login screen is coming up there's two things you can do:1. Set whatever screen reader you're using to run at the log on screen. For NVDA this is in the General settings page accessible with Control Insert G. The particular setting you want is called "Use NVDA during sign-in (requires administrator privileges)".2. Enable the Windows startup sound:Go to run with windows and r.Type control /name microsoft.sound and press enter.Go over to the Sounds tab.Press tab until you get to the "Play Windows Start-up sound" checkbox, and ensure it is checked. Now next time you restart, you should have a sound play just before the login screen is shown.

Hello,So.. I think people should look at the games that were successful in this community and use them as examples for what to do.For eample bk3 wasn't built in a day, neiter was Swamp. For me, quality is sertainly better than quantity so I'd prefer to have few awesome games than many games that really suck.I think the problem with current developers is that they simply rsh things. They don't have any idea about what they are doing so they just go with works, ading their own twist.I think if people don't know how to properly program, they should learn before they think about creating a game. Its a process you take one small step each day but in the end the result might be worth the sweat. Our current situation reminds me of the video game industry's crash in the 80's.. The crash happened because companies started to release crapy, untested games for public conssumption.I think in a sense, we are dealing with our own game crash.

Re: If you were president, what would you do first?

Are you all mad?First thing I'd do is get my staff to address me only by the honorific "Great Balls of Fire", and disallow anyone from speaking in political meetings unless they did it in a fake accent, in song, poetry, or rap... Thirdly I'd have anyone who pointed out that rap and poetry are essentially the same thing tied to a wooden phallus in the biggest square I could find, and only let them down when they'd sworn their undying love for chipotle mayonnaise.Next I'd introduce an amendment that made it permissible for anyone, regardless of age, height or anything else to carry a water pistol, to be used on people who spoke of political descent, or besmirched my holy name. Then I reckon I'd make my entire country follow Pastafarianism... except for Celiacs. They can follow whatever religion they want, thus theologically negating the culinary situation we currently have where normal people can eat whatever bread they want, and celiacs are restricted to dry boring loaves concocted by sadists.Next I'd fix the problem of housing and pollution, by issuing everyone with a free tent. That way, everyone would have a home, nobody would feel the need to break in, because no bugger would have anything they couldn't carry, and people could move as close as they wanted to the places they visited most often, thus neatly cutting down on the number of cars on the roads. Praise the balls! To stop people from getting mad at me, I'd have my picture emblazoned in half the urinals in the land, and on half the toilet paper. Then if people wanted to fight back, they could literally piss on me, or wipe their arses on my face. Plus, that would perpetuate the nicely cultivated patriarchy we've got going on, by giving men double the choice (sorry ladies). And as if all those good works weren't enough, I'd finish off by kicking off a curry-making contest, the winner to be decided by a panel of judges formed of me, myself, I, and any other internal voices I could cook up without the aid of hardcore hallucinogens. When I'd established the winner, using nothing but my politically-chosen mouth, I'd abdicate and make the best cook take over as president, whereupon I'd embark on a serious spiritual journey of trying to get laid as often as possible, while doing as little as possible (apart from carrying my government issue tent of course). You lot just don't take rulership seriously enough, what's wrong with you?

Re: py installer, Is it safe?

The thing I'm constantly realizing with python, and I think this community is starting to learn this the hard way, It's just, not designed with closed source in mind. You can do it if you're good, you can cythonise your code, impliment special checks to insure that your code can't be ran outside of your program, but as someone has already pointed out, your logic will still be exposed. It's fairly trivial to figure out exactly what any python program is doing, with or without source code. This is the entire reason I never switched to using it fully. I don't want to spend rediculess amounts of time on asset / code protection, particularly not when developing something like an online game.

And they are still fun because the foundational mechanic is fun and enjoyable. I can mostly speak about One Finger Death Punch though, don't really know the other game you've mentioned. OFDP actually derived a lot of its fun from what gamers call juice. The punching animations and sounds where pretty awesome over the top and action packed. It was hilarious! Helped a lot to make such a simple task as clicking a single mouse button feel impactful and rewarding. The super simple premise also made for neat game progression. If your game core is stripped down that much you can build up a lot of different ideas ontop of it. So OFDP still had some replayability and game progression. All in all a great example for what I wish to have for our audio game market.@69, Chris:Thanks for that post, I needed that But not in a way you might think. It showed me that I shouldn't open my mouth to wide here myself. Because I don't have any kind of expertise or authority to draw from. I am just a game nerd who's very interested in game development.I don't think I can offer any of what you've asked for. But I can give you the sources I draw from when building my opinion.Polygon is a game magazine. Their YouTube presence produces videos with mostly analytic yet very tongue and cheek views towards games, gaming, game culture and game art.Snow Man Gaming and Adam Millard, The Architect Of Gaming are two channels I happened to stumble upon and that I like for their interesting take on game analyzation.Marc Brown with his Channel Game Makers Toolkit takes that to another level. He probably does what you've asked from me. I love his deep dives into game psychology, mechanic ethics, success analytics, game history break downs and all the other meta stuff. Most of what I wish for in any game is informed by his opinions. I personally believe he is a must watch for almost any developer besides the obvious prodigies.I don't necessarily think game development should always follow the high standards those channels are especially looking for. But I believe it will help having those present in the back of your head. They're definitely educational for devs and gamers alike. And as you see by the very limited amount of credible sources I can provide I am no expert myself on this topic. So don't take my opinions to seriously even if I sometimes suggest otherwise

Re: Are there any switch games playable for a totally blind person?

Kingdom hearts melody of memory looks like it might be playable.I've tried the demo on both ps4 and switch. If you have a Nintendo account, you can download the demo right now and try it for yourself.I've also heard that dragon quest 11s echos of an elusive age definitive edition; yes I know that title is a novel; is playable in 2d mode, as the D-Pad can be used for navigation.Sadly; for some strange reason, the demo doesn't allow that mode, so...Pokémon Sword or shield is also mostly playable.I've had some sighted help, though I mostly play it fine without help.I've also read on this forum that the Pokémon nlet's go games are playable, though with no wall collision sound, it might be somewhat tuff.Smash bros ultimate is playable, though you'll need sighted help from a pretty good smash player to complete adventure mode.I hope that helps you out.Later!

Re: Stasp Talking Manjaro odditieis

Hi. I'm not exactly sure what's up. Here is what i do when installing manjaro with architect.1: Hit prepare installation and setup partitions and mount them, and get the mirrorlist stuff sorted out.2: I hit "install desktop system" and follow all the steps, after which i press "Chroot in to the installed system" or something like that, i also enable auto login in lighdm before chrooting in the tweaks section.3: In the chroot i run "pacman -S orca espeak-ng" and then i run "systemctl enable speech-dispatcherd" and finish the installation. Also feel free to ask any questions you have about manjaro talking, i'll try to answer them.I'm excited, cause in the near future the manjaro talking iso wil be officially available and manjaro architect wil have an option to install these talking profiles in the menu so all the pacman orca installs and the need to enable speech dispatcher with systemctl wil be gone!

Re: Bookrage's choiceofgames reviews

Hello all, admittedly, this is not the best news update I can give you as I didn't get a notification e-mail about it like I usually do with everything else. Apparently, there is a new "Choice of the Vampire," volue called "St. Louis, the unreal city." I have only played the first part of "Choice of the Vampire." and I must say that although it improves on replays, it isn't my favorite or even near the top of my list. However, it isn't the worst game I've played either. If anyone has played more of "Choice of the Vampire," than I have, maybe you can say more, but for me, I'm not chomping at the bit to play this one, though I will once I get to it.I imagine it has the same standard fare as other Choiceofgames titles such as the choices for gender and sexuality, though in the original choice of the vampire you were limited to male and female. I can't say many specifics about this one because I didn't get one of their e-mail ads this time.sorry about that but decided to let you know what I know.
