Hi!I'm loving the game so far, I'm at the powerplant now, going slow because of too many hours at work. However, I don't understand 2 things:1 Special attacks and magic attacks are not the same, right? Because, for now, I've seen only special attacks and not a single magic one, so I thought maybe magic and special are the same thing.2 How do training points work? I mean, sometimes I put 2 or 3 points in an already good stat and it grows immediately, other times I keep training one bad stat and it doesn't grow neither when the manamon levells up. What am I missing here?Thanks!

Post 3 and 4: there's no special die. The special die is the name of the row where you can find fate dice, d100 and the advantage/disadvantage throw, that's you throw 2 d20 and you keep the highest or the lowest depending on the circumstances.

Thank you, but the conference was 3 months ago ahahah. However, it went well, better than what I was expecting. Parents where very interested and, what I liked the most, they had a positive attitude toward the future of their children as normal people. It's not something I see everyday. I mean, most of the parents I meet are scared and apprehensive and they are the first to see their children as negatively different, and, if that's normal, that's also bad.

UpdateDevelopers have answered my mail. They said that the joystick will give you a tactile feeling of the playing field and of the actions you're making. In the tennis game, for example, you'll feel the force and the directions of your hits like if you're really hitting a ball. I'm going to test it on fryday.However, I don't think they will distribute their development tools. I think they want people to buy their joystick only for their games, and I hope to change their mind, because they would have more customers if the joystick was able to work with indipendent games too.And I think they should target also the sighted comunity, if they want their kickstarter to reach its goals. It could be easier than usual, because for sighted players too it would be cool, for example, to feel the force of their punches in beat them up games or the vibrations of the guns in fps.Let's see what I can manage.BTW, I hate that the escape key deletes all my post!

I think they have an interactive index like daisy books?As a master, well, a lazy master, I tend not to create a story before the game. I create only the main villain and some npcs, but everything else I shape it on the actions of my pcs. For example, I'm the gm in a fate campaign with a viking settings now. And one of my players roleplays a pc who's an alcoholic, and it happened that, while he was drunk, his actions made him the new chieftain of the village. It was totally unforeseen... And now, I'm shaping the next shenario with those new conditions in mind, and I couldn't have done it with the same flexibility if I had planned it in advance.I also prefer story games, where people collaborate on creating the story. Things like Fall Of Magic, for example, although that game would benefit from more rules ahahah.

Dark, completely agree with you about combat. And that's why I'm not a great fan of d, although it was my first encounter with rpgs. Maybe it's just my experience with bad masters, but I find that in d groups is more difficult to rp something in combat, because the answer you get most of the time is: "There's not a rule for that." That's why I prefer games like 7th sea or fate or whatever gives you rules to be creative, not rules on what you can or can't mecanically do.Talking about d though, the 5th edition is not has grid based as the 4th, so you may want to check it out anyway.

Post 5, if you like this type of game but don't like numbers, there are other options out there. You could try the so cold PBTA games, or Fate, or a game called On Mighty Thews. Every game has is own feeling, so you may need to experiment a bit to find the one you really enjoy.

Well, d comes from a miniature war game, and yes, the latest versions underline it very much when it comes to fighting. However, you can easily recreate the grid using tactile materials such as velcro or lego bricks, or in a virtual way by using excel and by writing the monsters names in the grids. However, that's not strictly necessary. When I play with my group, the fighting areas are usually tunnels or small rooms, so I can easily create a mental grid of the arena so to tell my friends how to move my character.For miniatures, you can use whatever you have around. We, for example, play with a mix of starwars and harry potter miniatures because our dm collects them, but you can use also taps or candys or whatever.Moreover, even if d recommends the grid for best use, there are actually also parties who do not get advantage of it. They base their fighting more on how far the enemies are and on the theatre of mind, so it's just a matter of finding the group that works best for you.

Creating this “magical” auditory tome has been a highly complex venture for narrators and producers who have championed creating it for visually impaired readers complete with detailed descriptions of charts and graphics essential to game play.D players will soon be able to sally forth with two additional titles—Dungeon Master’s Guide and Monster Manual—now in production that, with Player’s Handbook, will comprise the game’s core texts in auditory form for the first time. Hi! I have a problem forwarding ports too. I tried using specific programs and going directly to my ip address, the thing you do by inserting numbers in the address bar of the browser I mean, and no luck. A friend told me that some providers do not allow you to forward ports because of security matters, even if you do it at home at your own risk, and I suspect that my provider is one of those. However, I've no problems connecting to central servers and such... I don't know why my pc allows that but not forwarding. I could call the internet company and ask them to open and forward ports for me, my friend told me that they allow it if you request it, but, knowing the company, it would take too much patience on my side, since they tend to convert the easiest things in neverending procedures. All this to say that, well, I'd love a central server or a server application too one day, even if I understand why it's not the priority of the coders.

Hi!In my experience, the best way to use discord is via the desktop app. I've just started a new campaign with some friends and I made the rong choice of letting them vote between hangout an discord. I can understand why they prefer discord, there's a bot to play music directly from youtube and it has some other cool stuff, but it's so frustrating! And, as you've already said, I don't think it would be difficult to make it completely accessible.As a side note, I'd really like quentin's playroom to have a voice chat feature. It would make everything easyer and it already has the dice roller feature. Not asking to implement it or anything, it's just a small dream.

Hi!Yes, the new game adds some new elements. I didn't play it but I listened to the explanation in italian, so, maybe, I can tell you a little bit more.1 You can explore locations in a first person view. You'll be on a greed, and you'll use up and down arrows to move forward and backward and left and right arrows to turn, I don't know by how mutch, though. You'll here a taptap sound in every direction at every step indicating you if there are walls or obstacles near you. You can access a radar that suggest you where to go next. You can also interact with objects and pick up them to solve puzzles.2 Fighting seems to work as a rock, paper, shissors game. You have 3 stats: phyisical power, mental power and defence. The physical is your actual life, while the mental power indicates if you're able to act and, if it reaches 0 points, you are afraid or mad and you could act improperly. The physical attack disturbs the mental one, the mental one decreases your defence but the defence parrys the physical attack. Also, they mecanically work different. To use your physical power, you have to rapidly press a button. To use your mental power, you have to follow a series of instructions like in a bop it game. To use your defence, you just have to listen to a sound and press a button when the pitch is higher.I hope I've been enough clear. That's all I know for now. Hi!77, but if we could use just one powerup in each party, I don't think it would break the balance between experts and newbies. Experts will have an advantage only in one game, and if the newbie has played a bit offline, he easyly could have bought a powerup too.

Hi!69: I'd love it too, especially power ups to use in the board mode. I had actually already suggested it in the CP main topic some time ago. However, some people responded that it would make the gameplay unfair for newbies because more expert players would be able to buy more power ups, and, because of how easy is to cheat with coins, it would break the game entirely. For me, though, I think those 2 problems could be solved quite easily by limiting the power ups you can use during a single run and, well, by not playing the game with cheaters. I can see me buying 10 more seconds to use in the most difficult games, or something to force someone to play a game he doesn't like, or something to make me replay twice a game I'm good at etc.

Hi!I suck at math. I really, really suck at math, and I hate numbers in general. But, for me, I think that the intellectual world is one of the best worlds in the game, along with the space one. For one, it's different from all the other minigames we have. Secondly, it's really challenging, I love and hate the music that becomes faster and faster at every turn. And I think it's also useful to become better at calculating, no matter if you don't need to make difficult calculations everyday, it keeps your brain active and math is a good skill to have anyway, no matter how you hate it. I haven't beaten the world yet, and so what? I'll keep screaming at the game in frustration for maybe 1 or 2 weeks again, but I'll eventually master it, and if I don't, well, I'll play something else or I'll ask someone to help me (I want that hardcore mode). Maybe it's only me, but, everytime it comes out a game that's  a little bit difficult than the standard we are used to, I see an attitude of asking to reduce it's difficulty or to cheat, and I really don't understand why. In CP, for example, I've seen this happening with the raimbow tower, with the scale dragon and with some other games that I don't remember now, but everytime the solution to win those games was just to practice. However, I agree that an alternate path would be useful, maybe with puzzle games instead of word games so to not encounter the language problem, or with some more logic exercises like the colored button game.Also, for the 20 30 money thing: a good solution not to loose time listening to your score and so on, would be to add an option, when you lose, to directly restart from the beginning of the world. This way, we could start with 10 money as we do now, but have the possibility to restart immediately without losing time. In the battle mode, it could work the same way, except that the game should ask you if you want to change your deck before restarting the arena.

And that may be difficult, since at the conference there will be only their parents ahahah. Thanks all! That's what I have in mind so far, considering also the games I know best.1: Showing rhytm rage and crazy party for pc: rythm rage because I was told that lots of those kids love music, Crazy Party because of the different minigames that can exemplify lots of audiogames concepts.2 Showing Blindfold Breakout and a puzzle game for iPhone, don't know wich one yet. I've chosen Blindfold breakout because I find it challenging and because it's an "action game", but feel free to give me another suggestion. I didn't consider Zani Touch because I went for rythm rage before.3 Showing a complex game, maybe soundrts because it has an Italian translation and simple graphics.4: Showing 2 snippets chosen out of those three videos: a blind gamer playing Mario Cart, a blind gamer playing 1 2 switch, a blind player playing a fighting game I still have to choose. Maybe I'll stick with the fighting game and just one from the Nintendo, since I don't know wich consoles they have.5: Since I think that between the explanations and the parents's question my time will be almost over, I think I'll have to choose between talking about text games of any sort and tabletop games. And, even if I love text games in general, I think I'll go for the tabletop games, since I think that having something to touch will keep the attention up in this final moments and that there are more possibility that their sighted friends will play with them.Finally, I'll give them a document with more suggestions, dividing the games in categories based on their complexity and on the presence or lack of graphics.I'll certainly talk about Ticon Blue since they are Italian, but, personally, I don't feel like promoting it too much, because I've always felt disappointed by the quality of their games. However, as I said, that's a personal opinion.

Yeah, I wanted to avoid MK because it's very brutal and I don't know if parents would find it too disturbing. Maybe though I could talk about Marvel vs Capcom or Injustice 2? They have comics characters, so they may seem less violent...Also @Dark, I should have mentioned that the children are Italian, so, at 6, 7 years, they don't have a great knowledge of the english language. That could be an advantage, because playing browser games and interactive fiction should help them learning new words, but could also be a limit. I was going to propose some Italian IF, but I don't know if there are also Italian browser games or english text games with a quite simple language.

Need help for a conference

Hi all!So, next week I have to talk to a group of parents who have blind children about gaming. The children are between 6 and 13 years old, however, they want be present at the conference. I was looking for games that they can play with their sighted friends, so to demonstrate to the parents that gaming can help with inclusion. I think I will present some of the blindfold games, Feer, maybe soundrts and swamp for the older children. However, I wanted to propose also some mainstream games, and I came across 1 2 switch and Mario Cart 8 deluxe, that I didn't know where accessible. Can you tell me more about those 2 games? And, do you have any other suggestion? I'll also talk a little bit about tabletop games, however, I have just an hour and half, so I will not be able to go into details.Thanks in advance!

No, sorry... I know there's an app called vocal it one that let's you try some qr codes for free, but I've not tested it. However, the app is free too, so maybe you can give it a go. They'll send you via email some qr codes you have to print, and you can assign them the text you want. But the text lasts for only 2 years and after that you have to create it again with new qr codes.

A small update on Natural 20 lite. I checked the app again, and it lets you roll different set of dice even with word labels on them. And every die you create has it's own name, so, for example, you can create a set of dice called green and put on their faces a specific number of shotguns, brains etc and then create a dice set called yellow and put a different number of shotguns and so on their faces. You can then mix those sets in other bigger sets with their specific names, so, for example, you can create a zombie dice set with the number you need of green, yellow and red dices. You can also choose wich dices to reroll after the first roll. Unlocking all this feature costs 99 cents here in Italy, so that's worth trying.

I used it multiple times to play Fate when I didn't have the true dices at hand with a set of dices I labelled with pluses and minuses. However, I don't think it lets you roll different sets of word labelled dices together, it does permit it with the numbered dices though, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if it's a shortcoming of the app.

Hi!I too am converting my Munchkin cards in the braille plus qr code format, however, if you want, you can write down everything using braille abbreviations. I've done it and, while it's not the most brilliant idea, it worked very fine. For the expansions, the best thing you can do is to go to a game shop and buy them, or order them on amazon and then braille them or qr them yourself. For the cards description, the only thing that comes to my mind is finding someone that reads them for you. I know I haven't been very helpful, but ehi, that's what I've done Xd

Aaron,, have you tried the games with a limited parser? They tell you the commands you can use right at the start of the game, so there's no guessing the verb. I'm thinking about The Wizard Sniffer and Eat Me. Also, now the hint sistem is becoming more and more part of the game itself, I'm still looking at the Wizard Sniffer here. Finally, if you want something puzzly that's easy but also clever, I suggest you try out Lost Pig... No limited parser, but the solutions are very logic.

Hi!I'd suggest also the text adventures collection that you get when you download the frotz app for iPhone: it mixes lots of good classics with some new interesting stuff! Moreover, using the built in braille keyboard of the phone makes the experience even more enjoyable, and the possibility to play wherever you want is a pleasant plus.

Hi!So, I was thinking about using penfriend to label cards of various card games... Things like Cards Against Umanity and Sushi go, well, not exactly those specific games, but just to give you an idea of the complexity of the games I have in mind. I've used braille before, but my friends say that the pattern of the points is recognizable from behind the card and that spoils the fan a bit, because, with some practice, they can recognize the cards people are holding by looking at their back. I could put braille on some paper labels and stick them on the card's front so not to ruin it's back, i've done it too, but I'm limited in the characters I can type and, if I don't play a game for some time, it's hard to remember all the abbreviations I've used for cards with a lot of text.To summarize, here are what I think could be the advantages of an audiolabel:1 I can record a long message, ideal for cards with lot of text2 The back of the card will remain clear3 It would be very easy to pick up a game I've not played for a bit and play it without asking my friends explanations on some details of the card I don't remember.I know that PenFriend offers the possibility to plug in hearphones and that it works with normal batteries, and the labels seems affordable.So, what do you think about this solution? Do you see any potential drawbacks or problems? For example, i've not seen an actual label yet, and I'm afraid that it could cover some important part of the card making it unreadable by sighted people...I hope I've been enough clear.Thanks in advance for your opinions.

So, there was a big discount on Killer Instinct definitive edition, so yesterday night I bought it on steam... I'll keep you updated on how it turns out for me.I also installed Dead Or Alive core fighters that's free... There's a lot to learn, the timing for throwings and tacles and it's in 3D, but the audio is great and my boyfriend likes it, so I'll experiment with this one too... Maybe I actually experimented too much yesterday, because I dreamed it all night long ahah.

So, for the combo breaker, I gues it's just a matter of listen and learn like in mortal kombat... That's cool too. 5: For similar motions, do you mean like making a quarter of circle with the stick backwards, something forward and then pressing some buttons? Because that's what I don't like of SF, and I don't see it in MK. However, if you say so, I'll check the moves before buying it on game faqs to see if it's less extreme Xd Keep in mind I've not played sf so much, so I'm maybe exagerating here, but it's just to give you the feeling of what I'd like and what I prefer to avoid.

Some questions about Killer Instinct

Hi all! I'm playing a lot Mortal Kombat 9 with my sighted boyfriend, and we where looking into other fighting games to have some variety... Maybe we'll buy also Mortal Kombat XL, but, for now, we want something that feels different. I personally don't like street fighter because of the difficulty of the moves - I don't want to destroy my analogs to pull them of Xd -, but I'm looking for a game with a similar audio, I think SF has the best out there. My boyfriend, on the other hand, is a great fan of Tekken, that I don't like because it's not in stereo. So, I was looking into Killer Instinct... It seems to me a fast paced game, the audio is great, the combos don't seem too mashing buttons. However, I'd like to know how playable it is. I mean, is it hard to execute a combo breaker? There are any interactable arenas? And, not related to accessibility, but still... Do the characters feel different one from each other? Thank you so much... And sorry for the long post ahahah!

Hi! If you have iOS, try the Frotz app. You can also play glulxe games, and, if you set the keyboard to braille, when you enter the enter command it will read you automatically the new output.

Hi! I don't recall a tracking system in RTR... When I used to play it, I just listened to the sounds of feet and shooting. But you have a radar to help you understand where the enemy is, if it's near enough to you.

Hi!I like the keys, but I personally think that it would be easier to use the left and right arrows to turn slowly and shift plus the left and right arrows to turn by 45 degrees. And I agree that the redspot radar works better than a tracking sistem, and that a tracking sistem for zones would be very usefull. Looking forward to this game!

Problem with crazy party

Hi all! I have a problem with the online mode of crazy party. I wanted to battle online with a friend, so I created a public server and i gave permission to the game to bypass the firewall. But my friend couldn't connect to it. So we reversed our roles: he created the server and I couldn't connect to it. This is strange, because we are both able to connect to other server without any problem. I'm running windows 7 64 bit and he's running windows 10. Can you help me? Thanks!

Hi! I've played a little with the update, and I think it's nice! However, if Sam are you still looking for feedback, I have 2 proposals:1 Could we have a way to customize keys? I'd much much like to use the arrows to rotate and D and A to sidestep.2 Could you remove the word weapon before a weapon in the inventory? It would be easier to search weapons.Thanks!

Hi! I do not play often, but I like the game, so, here are my thoughts!1 I agree about the open map thing. Me too, I'd like to see more buildings, and, if possible, a system to track where you're going, because the map is huge, and i feel lost using just the coordinates. I mean, it's a fps where you have to move quickly, not survive the wild.2 I'd like a way to know how far I'm from a tower and, when I'm up on it, how far is the edge. Using the camera is not so great, when someone is shooting at you Xd3 And finally, something that lots of people will not like: I'd like a reset of all the characters after a set period of time. No more people running around all day and collecting health and such vs people who play after work a few ours and get destroyed over and over. And I'm not say this to defend myself, I know I'm not the best player out there and I don't care. But, as someone said, matches in games like COD are 
 very short, and then everyone has to restart, and the next match is as fair as the previous one, because everyone is, more or less, at the same level.That said, I can't wait to see the update!
