Some have apparently had better luck than others.That said, you are advised when you purchase this product that you should back up your information (I'd have to double check, but I'm about 95% sure on this). As such, it's your responsibility, not the dev's responsibility. I think a better solution is needed, but does this mean you should be allowed to crack the game? Me, I'd say no. Especially since we don't actually have definitive proof that the original poster actually bought the game in the first place. Now, stop right there; I'm not accusing him of lying. I'm simply taking a big-picture perspective, considering all the facts. If the original poster deleted the email they got which registered Manamon, then there's probably no proof they can provide which demonstrates they bought the game. And even if there were, the fact that a crack is just floating around is not okay, because even if this user is legit and is only trying to re-access what he paid for once, that will not be true for everyone.And there's still, of course, the issue of "having no choice". Since they're not terribly sensitive information, you could get away with keeping them in a text file, then backing them up to a different drive/cloud storage as you see fit. I did this myself for several years, because I don't save emails at all if I can help it, so saving the keys felt natural to me whenever I would order something. however, if you use a password manager, which you really should be doing in 2019, adding your registration keys to it makes a lot of sense. This way, you have everything you need in one place, and have the peace of mind of knowing that you're most likely not going to lose them. Reason being that the game verifies your licence when you either do something online or the game checks for updates, both of which strike does not do as far as I know. I have also reinstalled strike many times after formatting my PC and it worked fine, so I assume there will be nothing wrong. Of course, the only person knowing the definitive answer to this is Aaron. No worries, as far as I know only an older version of the game was cracked, and even then you cannot trade unless you get the other person to do that same version which is just a major pain to do. As for keys, yep, first contact him and don't just assume he does not care. Updating the game and replacing keys are two different things. Even if he does not replace it, chances are nobody will give you a key, not because they don't trust you but because there is a limit on how many computers you can register the game before it flags you as a pirate. Anyone can look at the source code, and a sufficiently skilled cryptographer could look at it bit by bit, and determine how every last line of the program works, and what it does, in every detail. Re: manamon key @jack, I wouldn't really say that the name/key system is outdated. Its more that its implemented incorrectly, leaving applications insecure and vulnerable. Either someone uses the wrong encryption or hashing algorithm, or they try implementing their own crypto scheme (which backfires horribly), or they try to do something weird by (for example) repeatedly encrypting or hashing the same thing over and over to attempt to make it harder to crack. By the hashing/encrypting the same thing bit, I mean they'll do something like:encrypt(encrypt(encrypt(encrypt(dataOrhash(hash(hash(data)))This kind of scheme doesn't make your application any more secure. In fact, it can Make it even less secure. The name/key system can be used, but you need internet activation, and you need to do it right. I can try and whip something up to figure out how I might do it, and then show you guys. Accidents happen.I have all important keys in text files which go into my Dropbox, but then they also get backed up weekly to Backblaze. Do something like that, or have your keys on multiple computers. If you're really paranoid and you can use print or Braille, write them down on a piece of paper. That way, every computer you've ever used could come crashing down with every last bit of data you've ever had lost forever, and you might be missing lots of important stuff, but your product keys would be safe. Even more paranoid? Make a copy of that piece of paper and lock it in a safe deposit box somewhere outside your home. I bought the game soon after it came out, then several months later, my computer completely irretrievably died. I emailed the developer with the paypal receipt because my backup of the key was also gone, and for whatever reason I could not find it in my email which I know I saved. I got one email back saying he would try, but never heard from him again. Fortunately I have a working copy on my laptop, but not only am I not willing to pay for something I already bought, I don't have the money to spend even if that weren't the case.Sadly I really enjoied the game, and while I agree with Jayde on most of his criticisms of the plot and balance issues, it was still worth it to have on my main computer.
