place this in the shortcut

place the shortcut in the startup

Yes, Thankyou that is great, But I am still
stuck

To get the selected Value, do I put this
webradiobuttonname.selection() in a method in the design field or on the
datasource.

What saves the selection to the Database?, also I have only
three enums to select from and the Portal Page Shows four, unsure where the
fourth one comes from and what it was for.

Hi
All

I am trying to
create a webform that will accept a  hand signature on a PDA Device using
the stylus (Receive the client hand signature on-site). So I have guess that
either it uses a field like a container to contain an image in the field on the
record which can be written to the database, or open a word document which is
loaded like a report than the container field is an image which can be edited by
the PDA Stylus . Or it will use _javascript_ to accept the signature and than
send it to the wright spot on the database.

Please , if anyone
can point me in the wright direction including outsourcing this issue we are
interested.

Hi Harry

yes I see,  The temp table will than be there so the
List is free from the large Inventtable (Essentially lookup once than select
from temp table)

I can create the Table with only the items that apply
to one Employee's warehouse only (Blokes in Vans Each van is a Warehouse in
our system), and then the lookup that up on a reduced table that i will
than in turn use for the Inventid lookup, with itemid, description and Onhand
Value. I Think I understand

Do you have an example of how we could do
this

Thankyou harry

tmpInventTable

You can look at the CacheLookup
property on the table. It is not recommended to cache tables that are frequently
updated but since the inventory table should be fairly static you may consider
do this by setting the property appropriately.

2005-03-11 Thread Rocco Giumelli

I glad to see that inventory is a issue for
all.

We started with negative inventory and this allowed all
transactions to post easily.. But where is the control. What is your True
Inventory Value? Who would know.

Now the Negative is unticked and people are doing their
jobs properly and the slow and painful learning cycle
begins.

I guess, your company needs to have spare time to solve the
inventory issues as they occur.

inventory should never go negative.  Unfortunately, at every company I
have worked with, the world has not been perfect, so allowing negative
inventories was necessary.  I look at this way: If due to unknown
errors by unknown employees the inventory is wrong, do you want the system
to stop employee X from trying to correctly perform his job because the
system believes he is creating an error causing the inventory to go
negative.  Often times this employee is not in a position to correct
or troubleshoot the error anyway.  My $.02.

Hi Varden/SAS

Can you explain 'We already enabled AWE
Memory'.

When we deployed Axapta no mention by our MBS
Partner  was given to the type of SQL we needed to own, We Purchased
SQL Standard Edition, and of Late I discovered that this version is not able
to Handle 3Gb of RAM. There is also no upgrade path from Standard to
Enterprise.

Before I get the boss to spend more cash on this SQL

Edition.

ps.  Also any Tips on Table

Hi Sas

The hardware
looks good to me, away from the RAID 5 for the database. RAID 5 does not
give good performance for writing since it involves the calculation of
parity. I made a mistake in my first email to you. We do not use RAID 15

Did you configure windows

used it to solve our problems and we are currently in the process of
purchasing the software. Sometimes the log file disk could be running

The problems are endless and many.

The code could very well be

Hi Varden/SAS

Can you explain 'We already enabled AWE
Memory'.

When we deployed Axapta no mention by our MBS Partner
was given to the type of SQL we needed to own, We Purchased SQL Standard
Edition, and of Late I discovered that this version is not able to Handle 3Gb of
RAM. There is also no upgrade path from Standard to
Enterprise.

Before I get the boss to spend more cash on this SQL
Upgrade, do you know of any way to get SQL to use 3GB of RAM on the Standard
Edition.

ps.  Also any Tips on Table
Indexing.

Hi
Rocco

If disk queue and swapping
are acceptable for the object server during peak periods this should be
an indication that the object server(s) is ok. We had 1G of memory
and two Pentium III processors in two object servers. The disk queue was
high as a result of the processors not being able to adequately manage
the requests from the clients. Also, there was a lot of swapping
resulting from the memory not being enough. For some reason this
resulted in the database locking
up.Rocco Giumelli

Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.comSubject: Re:
[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] how to minimize blocking on axapta
?

The two main things I know can affect blocking are hardware and
code.

I have experienced major blocking as a result of hardware. I understand
the technical concept involved but I do not have all the details at hand.

You can use one server as the application and database server but this
may not be ideal for your situation. The best configuration for top performance
is at least one database server with a SAN unit for the data and an application
server that may also be the object server if you are going 3-Tier. You may
optionally use a different server for the object server. One object server
should be adequate for up to one hundred users. Over that you may use two in
load balancing mode.

Now blocking can be a result of the existence of a bottle neck with your
hardware. The client in a 2-tier configuration and the object server in a 3-tier
configuration constantly make requests to your database sever that include
reading and writing of data. The communication link between the client/object
server in such a situation needs to be high speed (I believe fiber may be the
best medium). In addition to this the internal speed of the disks (you also have
fiber disks) it also important. When requests are made to the database server
the disks need to be able to process the requests as fast as possible otherwise
one request may be waiting on another to be completed which results in blocking.
Several of this may occur that lead to severe blocking.

The storage unit for the database should also be a combination of RAID 10
and RAID 15. RAID 10 is just striping while RAID 15 is a mirror of a RAID 10.
Since the data files are very important you should but then on the RAID 15 and
since the temp database and log files are not so critical you should put them on
RAID 10. This will speed up the read/write process for the database and thus
reduce blocking. RAID 5 saves you space but it is not ideal for read/write
intensive operations since the process involves parity calculation.

The technology of the quad processor is advanced and can help in a big
way. I do not know the details about this but I know it works.

If the specification of the application sever is not good enough this can
also lead to blocking. I have personal experience where the database server was
upgraded and the blocking was still the same. After upgrading the application
server there was a major difference.

You must always have enough memory in your servers to ensure that there
is not much caching. When you have over 3G of memory you need to enable windows
to use it. You also need to enable Microsoft SQL to use over 3G (if you are
using MSSQL).

The last thing is coding. You should ensure that transactions in the
application are short. This means ensuring that you use tts.begin and tts.commit
or tts.rollback in very short blocks of code where it is necessary. Otherwise
tables/records may be locked in a waiting transaction that results in major
blocking.

Hope this will be of some help to you.

RE: AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] reporting tools and Axapta

2005-02-27 Thread Rocco Giumelli

Well thankyou for your response, it seems no matter what
the volume of business, we have to always get up in the middle of the night to
fix something, or do something that the computers should do for
us.

Subuu,
Are you P&L's  expressing the view of profit from the G/L perspective
using the Axapta Dimensions (3), and than broken down by transaction type, Hour,
Item,Cost, and their Categories Group Types.

Or is
income derived through the Sales Orders using Item Numbers to derive
the balance of your dimensions with the item's  Item group,Manufacture, and
any others you have added.

I
thought MS OLAP Analysis server that came with SQL Server provided a good way to
get the dimensions back to a level where the data was easily spilt. Create a XL
= Excel Spreadsheet and plug that back into the OLAP Cube with a Pivot
Table

The
data you would want to see is preset into the Pivot Table and This Prints
Nicely  and refreshes easily ( so long as it is connected to the source
(lan, wan, citrix) and is specific enough to keep many Excel links or worksheets
to various financial/Project info you need to
present.

Back
to realty, The volume of your problem shows me that Maintenance is a problem we
both have.

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] reporting tools and Axapta

Hi Rocco,

We didn't buy Axapta OLAP for our reporting. Let me briefly give me my
project scenarios.
We had to develope P&L reports in Various currencies. The problem with
the format of the P:&L is , some of the rows in the P&L had to be shown
by Cost center /department wise while someoter rows direct account wise. And as
you know Axapta can not handle multi dimensional financial reporting. Hence we
opted for Targit.

Waht happens is : Targit also can not handle multi dimensiona reporting if
it uses Axapta database. The problem is not with the Targit. Its the problem
with Axapta. Why because, TARGIT database is directly coupled with Axapta Live
database so are the tables are mapped to directly with Targit tables. So we run
the DTS packae to refresh the TARGIT data base so that it will fetch the data as
in Axapta at the aprticular point of time.
It lead to enough maintenace. Like suddenly they used to post some entries
and they would like to see asap. Then I wake at the midnight,  and refresh
the Targit EM in order to show the latest data.
Hence I created those reports in Axapta using some temp tables etc
etc..

Now we are using targit only for sales reporting. Because sales data we get
from XL files from outside the company. Hence we upload those data ( getting rid
of Axapta tables ) in to self created tables in Targit. Hence we can show
reports like anyway we wanted as its not using axapta database ( or the mapped
to axapta tables ).

Shipement history by location,by customer, by product , bar,pie etc tec etc
etc...
Numerous cubes and dimesions have been created to show the reports in
various dimesions for these data which came from XL.

Presently, we are uploading approximately 10M records in the
sales/shipment history. The performance is good.

I would say, it depends upon ur reports formats( financial ). If the
reports are half single dimesional and half the report is multiple dimesional,
its not Possible in targit if they are connected to axapta DB. but if you want
two seperate reports, with one report single dimesional and the other report
mutli dimesional, its possible in targit. But in the same report, with mixed
dimensional its not possible. we have to manually created hundres of
calculations which slows the targit perofrmance . its very cumbersome to make
any changes to that type of reports.

I am not very sure if I have answered your Q . but if you need anymore
clarifiacations, please contact me as we are using Targit since 6 months. And we
know what Targit can do also.

Thanks & Regards,
subbu

Maybe it was already mentionend, but did you take a look
at Business Analytics (BA) from Targit? They have some cubes for Axapta,
and it doesn't touch Axapta too. It only connects to the DB where Axapta is
located and transfers the data to its own DB (which is MS SQL). But there are
DTS possibilities in SQL Server getting data from Oracle, so this should be no
  problem.

On the other side until now we have BA only
implemented with MS SQL (both for Axapta, and BA). But the response from our
  customers is very good.

I'm also interested on how you'll solve this
  situation.

2005-02-13 Thread Rocco Giumelli

Hi Yifat/Harry

On the item form, select the setup button, than warehouse
items, it shows a list of possible warehouses for the item you are looking
at.

I believe there should be an entry in here to represent the
item that would actually be in stock for that warehouse.

In our stocktake, it keep locking the items, until I
entered the warehouse number in here.

I don't understand why Axapta does not do this for us, We
are on Axapta 3.0 sp1, maybe they have fixed it

I do need run a job that will populate this table based on
what is actually in stock in all warehouses for all items.

I believe this will need to be populated before we create
the counting journals.

If I can add a comment here.  We are in the middle of an
implemenation and during our testing found that the counting journal
locked the items during the countm which was fine. But after the count
was complete the items remained locked.  MBS in Fargo (USA) provided a
fix for us for this.  Perhaps you can source this fix through your MBS

Hi Harry

I may have crossed-paths on problems, Was You problem the
same as this one?

Anything to add?

This was My Experience

My first experience with Annual Stocktaking was quite
miserable. Firstly I had created my counting journals too early and the Stock on
hand was taken as at the date of printing the journals, Do not print your
journals too early for processing, Duplicate your system and than print them out
so you can get everyone ready. Creating the Counting jounral on the day of the
stock take. In my circumstances , we operate about 15 Warehouses national, and
each Item Number must have a cross reference in the item form, under setup
called warehouse items. Each Item number needs to have the associated warehouse
loaded into here so. otherwise axapta locks the item number against the first
warehouse that is processed. I thought this cross-reference would have been
created by the actual transactions for that item in the warehouse where it has
been used. (Otherwise when Stocktake is processed it keep saying that the item
was locked, and it stops the flow)

Now I am on Axapta 3.00 sp1 , so I not sure whether this
affects you, but I hope they have solved this problem in the next release. I am
Sure there is other things that I Missed completly, GOOD
Luck!

Rocco

A Response that I
received Late Last Year

I don’t know why the
inventitemlocation table is not populated automatically; all I know is that I
had to populate the table in several of my implementations. I did get clever and
used a csv import into Axapta. This made the process much quicker. It is easy to
populate the spread sheet once you have all the items, the warehouses and the
locations.

Also once the
inventitemlocation is set up correctly, creating a stock counting journal is not
a problem. If you create the journal per warehouse then the system locks the
items in each respective warehouse (and location)…

I hope this answers
your questions. Basically the inventitemlocation is very important for stock
counting in different warehouses.

I know it is the

It appears that it is only once the journal is deleted and not posted that the

When we have a

that record and the releated webgrids that relate to the trans tables below it.
so transactions can be processed against the record that has been Selected

I have modified the

date appear on this report

Or is there another
way to get from the Invent module a report that will give last trans date of
this type, without listing all trans dates as the Inventory Transaction report
does. Maybe a criteria that will be like = 'latest date'

Does anyone know the

Hi
Rocco,

Hi
Yifat

Do You Know Why The
InventItemLocation  Table Does Not Get Populated automatically, Since in
our environment, the same item crosses dimensions and this InventItemLocation
table remains static, Does Locking the items treat the lock on one warehouse, or
does it apply to all, On our stocktake , I had to forever enter lines in here
that matched the item to the warehouse. and slowed down the Whole
Process, I could not find any documentation on how and especialy why it
does not autopopulate.

June 2005 , is coming
up quick, and I would like to see Axapta create entries based on incoming and
outgoing transactions from warehouse dimensions . Ideally a Job that ran
just prior to the priniting of the countiong journals, that made a
warehouse item entry  Lock count against each warehouse &
item.

Thanking you very
much.

Hi
there,

Rocco is correct,
when Axapta creates a stock sheet it is snap shot of the way the items are at
that point in time. Hence, one should not do any transactions once the stock
sheet has been created, a good idea is to lock the items in the stock count.
Axapta cannot handle movement of stock during the stock
count.

Another thing to keep
in mind is the unit of measure, make sure that the people are counting in the
correct unit of measure. i.e. the inventory unit of measure. For ease of use, we
display the unit of measure on the counting sheet.

Also one needs to
consider if you are using standard costing or average costing. If you are using
ave costing, when you count up, the system takes that stock at a zero cost
unless otherwise specified – i.e. fill in the cost field in the stock counting
journal. If you are using std costing there is no
problem.

Hope this
helps.

Hi
Stefan

My first experience
with Annual Stocktaking was quite miserable. Firstly I had created my counting
journals too early and the Stock on hand was taken as at the date of printing
the journals, Do not print your journals too early for processing, Duplicate
your system and than print them out so you can get everyone ready. Creating the
Counting jounral on the day of the stock take. In my circumstances , we operate
about 15 Warehouses national, and each Item Number must have a cross reference
in the item form, under setup called warehouse items. Each Item number needs to
have the associated warehouse loaded into here so. otherwise axapta locks the
item number against the first warehouse that is processed. I thought this
cross-reference would have been created by the actual transactions for that item
in the warehouse where it has been used. (Otherwise when Stocktake is processed
it keep saying that the item was locked, and it stops the
flow)

Now I am on Axapta 3.00
sp1 , so I not sure whether this affects you, but I hope they have solved this
problem in the next release. I am Sure there is other things that I Missed
completly, GOOD Luck!

, I had to forever enter lines in here that matched the item to the warehouse.
and slowed down the Whole Process, I could not find any documentation on
how and especialy why it does not autopopulate.

June 2005 , is coming up quick, and I would like to see
Axapta create entries based on incoming and outgoing transactions from warehouse
dimensions . Ideally a Job that ran just prior to the priniting of the
countiong journals, that made a warehouse item entry  Lock count
against each warehouse & item.

Thanking you very much.

Rocco

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] annual stocktaking

Hi

Rocco

Hi
Steve, John had Suggested this,Will try this .  What code would
make the class work?

don't use date fields in your dialog. Use a date interval(--> ledger /
setup /periods / dateintervals).
On the table for dateintervals you'll find all methods to convert into from
and to date (the dates that are returned depend on systemDateGet().
Best wishes John
