[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Axapta CRM vs Dynamics CRM
Hi Steeve, We have implemented both AX CRM and MS CRM linked to AX. There is one key advantage of MS CRM, and that is you can use it disconnected. So, Sales folks can place orders remotely, not connected to the system. Also, MS CRM is prettier, and works better with Outlook/Exchange. However, AX CRM is totally integrated, which has its advantages. Hi, as I understand it, the Mail Merge does not actually create the document for you. It creates the data that you can use in Word for the mail merge, and it makes a notation in CRM that you mailed that particular client. It will not send out a custom mail with name and company and address with a template. You have to use Word for this. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Barcode scanner creating new line
We are trying to get AX to create a new line and enter the barcode from the scanner without having to touch the keyboard or mouse to enter another barcode. This is the Pick List Registration Form. The idea is that a warehouse person will pick 20 of the same item for an order and needs to record the unique serial numbers. The problem is that AX wants us to select the LOT ID manually and we can't figure out how to automate that. The form being referenced is Forms\InventPickingListRegistrate. There are two data sources being used for the grids: one for the header, and the other for the line items. What we are trying to do is capture when the new line command is run (I believe the bar code scanner inserts a value and runs a CTRL-N-like command), and override the parent class (super()?) so that we can capture the Lot ID for the just-entered line. For the demo, we would like to also copy in the previous Item Number and Delivery Date values. This way, we can show that items can be scanned without touching a keyboard. Any help from an AX expert would be appreciated. Dan Fine Fine Solutions [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] different address on check
In AX 4.0, we have a requirement to print a different address on the check (e.g. for lockbox address) then what is the primary address in the Vendor master. So, we set up an alternate address with address type 'payment', however, the check still picks up the primary address. There seems to be no way when printing the check to select an alternate address. We've checked CustomerSource, various user group web sites, and emailed contacts. However, we still have no definitive answer about Axapta's capability for handling this requirement. Does anybody know how to do this? Thanks. Dan Fine Fine Solutions
[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: AX 4.0 AIF (Integration Framework)
I read your post on AIF. It is vastly different than what was available before in Axapta. We've been working with it successfully for our client. You are correct, it has a learning curve and takes a lot of work. My feelings are that most consultants are not suited for working on it. We tasked AIF with one of our consultants that has development and SQL background. It helps to understand XML and SQL integration. Plus, he is certified in Integration Manager, which is similar type of product in Great Plains. Dan Fine Fine Business Solutions AX and GP Consultancy [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- In Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com, Chris Legan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Mike, AIF and EP are like night and day. AIF allows you to use web services and generate XML's to pass data between AX and other applications. The selling point is that the records are inserted into AX using AX business logic; meaning they are not inserted directly into DB with no validation. Some issues with AIF. First of all the business connector in AX is not compatible with a 64-bit OS. Big Problem. You can run the process as 32 bit on 64 bit OS, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having 64 bit OS. Second AIF currently only allows you to insert a record. You can not update or delete a record using without some serious coding effort. Third AIF does not work out of the box. It involves a lot of coding, debugging, debugging!! Then some more debugging! I worked with a customer who tried getting AIF to work with two MBS partners, and MBS and after 4 months they pulled the plug on AIF. Let's be clear I am not bashing AIF; it has serious potential, but I think it is still early in its development cycle. Maybe by next release the bugs will be worked out and it will be a nice solution. If you are looking for a product that is similar to AIF, but allows more flexibility for inserting, updating, and deleting records send me an email. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] German Tax Forms
We are working at a German subsidary this week. We moved them off the German layer in AX 3.0 and have put the server in the USA on AX 4.0 on the US layer. After upgrading, the German tax forms are not printing right, the layout is not like it was in 3.0. Legally, they have to be prepared in a certain way. Instead of printing everything in right rows columns and printing two pages, it is printing half a page and is not a format which is required by the tax authority here. In configurations, Germany is selected for local functionality. Is there a German tax form available, or how do we get this to print right? Thank you. Dan Fine
