[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Explosion report

2009-09-15 Thread edwardjosling
Hi All

There is a report in Ax that can be printed from the Explosion window (example:
Production -- Production Orders -- Inquiry -- Explosion). Click on the
print preview button will print the report ReqTransExplosion. This report
can only be printed from the Explosion window. I have a requirement to print
this report for every planned and firmed production order. How easy or
difficult will this be to accomplish?

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] New weighted average closing/settlement logic - AX4.0

2009-08-04 Thread edwardjosling
Hi All

We are currently investigating the new weighted average settlement logic as in
Ax4.0. When we run the closing, it came up with an error saying that for
account xxx, a dimension cost center must be specified. We have dimension
validation on all accounts. By investigating which transactions this is
causing, we noticed it is the new totaled transactions - especially the
purchased ones.

I understand why there cannot be a dimension on that transaction and also come
to realize that when there is a default dimension on the item, it would
populate this transaction with that dimension. The problem is that we have to
track profit and loss by cost center.

My question is that why are these transactions being adjusted? Would it be the
same logic as for instance transfer orders where a receipt is being adjusted
and is populating the item with a default dimension the only way?

Any comments would help.

Thanks
Eddie

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] On hand inventory adjustment - Date

2009-07-21 Thread edwardjosling
Hi all

We need to do a on-hand adjustment to revalue inventory as of a certain closing
date. The date which wee need to do adjustments are on the 31/3. Closings
have been done until 30/6. When doing a on-hand adjustment selection from the
31/3 closing, the posted quantities and values of the items are that of 30/6.
This means that we need to reverse all the closings after 31/3 in order to an
accurate adjustment.

Is this normal behavior and if so, what would the reason be?

We run Ax2009 Sp1.

Hi James

Using version 3.0 SP6.

Closing was done on the 30/04/2009. The next closing was done on the
31/5/2009. Various cancellations/re-closings happened on both these dates.
When investigating cost of sales, I reconciled the difference to the closing
adjustments (which is normal). By looking at the specific item transactions in

closed on 30/4/2009, settlements (adjustments) still was done on these
transactions on the 31/5/2009. To me this do not make sense?

the aging report just ingroes all inventsum that have Closed=YES!

Such logic is of course wrong as it does not factor in when was the
 inventsum closed

 Example:
 1) Purchased 1/1/2009
 2) Sold 2/1/2009
 3) Closing run 3/1/2009
 4) Aging run on 4th with As at date 1/1/2009 - result report is empty

The aging report (InvnetDimAge) is only in the SYS layer
This is in a AX4.0 SP2 so was a little shocked to find noone in MS had found
this by the second service pack.

Has anyone else come across this problem?
I will be looking to see if the latest DIS layer for AX4.0 SP2 has a fix but
if anyone has it setup and running and can compare report InventDimAge to
SYS that would be real helpful.

When running the new standard costing model in Ax2009, my assumption is that no

Preliminary tests done on the closing with standard costing indicates that
there is no
settlements, thus leaving us with the stock ageing report that does not work in

many
implementations struggle because of this, especially where critical business
decisions
needs to be made in connection to the functionality of the system. There would

some junior consultants on a project, but you need senior, experienced
consultants to
assist and guide you as a business in some system issues and decisions.

Interview your resources might be an suggestion and don't be misled by

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Credit notes with standard costing

2008-04-16 Thread edwardjosling
Hi everyone

We are using Ax4.0 SP2 and use standard costing on all our products.

When struggling through a inventory reconciliation, we discovered an alarming
bug
regarding how the inventory close handles sales credit notes.

The scenario is as follows:
Since the time from a original sales invoice, the standard cost for that item
has been
updated/changed (the item is a BOM with components and we use the auto report
as
finished setting to back flush from the sales line). Now the item is returned
and we use
the Functions -- create credit note function on the sales order. This
automatically links
the return cost price and lot id to the original sales line. We invoice the
credit note. Now
a closing is performed (with FIFO as the closing principle). Adjustments are
now made to
the WIP account (on the components), resulting in an imbalance from GL and
inventory.

I have done some research and came across a similar bug which was fixed in
Version 3 -
SP6.

Do anyone have a similar scenario or insight into this?

PS: We have discovered that when we enter the credit line manually, i.e. not
linking the
return lot id to the original transactions, the close handles differences
correctly (sort of!!).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Eddie

Possibly you can check the following:
1. Do you have an offset account for that journal line?
2. Set the rounding for each currency (General Ledger -- Setup --
Exchange rates)
3. Set the max penny difference value (as well as the one for secondary
currency if you use secondary currency) in ledger parameters as
conversion from currency values can casue rounding differences.

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: URGENT: Material Requirment detail

Hi there,

I would suggest that the easiest way would be to look at the
Explosion for that particular production order. Production --
Production order -- Inquiries -- Explosion. This will give you a
detailed view of the current material requirements and on-hand
situation. Go to the critical on-hand tab. From there you can use
the auto-report function to produce a printout.

However, you will need to setup basic MRP plan, coverage group and
parameters. It is suggested to include a dynamic plan for this.

Hope this help

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Inventory min.order quantity

I would like to know if anyone has done modifications to split the inventory
min.order

We have the requirement to plan for a minimum production order quantity, but to

Currently there is no way to split these in standard Ax (4.0). (Item coverage

safety levels and min/max)

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Deposit slip generated after transactions was reconciled in Bank

2008-02-12 Thread edwardjosling
Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced the scenario where customer payments were
reconciled in a bank reconciliation and then after the fact that it
was reconciled, a deposit slip was generated from the payment journal
and also with a different date as that of the original journal
posting date?

In our experience this causes:
1) The bank reconciliation to reflect a difference (because the
transactions get unreconciled)
2) The Bank and GL is now out of balance (especially if the deposit
slip date and the original posting date is in two different financial
periods)

The fact that you can generate a deposit slip after the fact the
individual transactions were reconciled does not sound logic to me.

Anyone experienced this before?

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Transfers orders with min order quantity set - MRP

2008-01-13 Thread edwardjosling
Hi all

We have some economic production quantity runs for our products. In
order to plan the correct quantities, we use the min. order qty field
under the quantity tab on the items form. Now a complication arise
when we want to do transfers to our sales branches, using minimum/
safety stock levels for the branches. We setup branches to be
refilled from our main distribution warehouse. When the MRP is run,
the planned production order quantities refelct correct, but the
planned transfers also takes the min. order qty into consideration -
which we don't want becasue the safety levels on the branches is much
lower than the econimic/min order qty for production.

Is there maybe anyone that can shed some light on how to approach
this problem, i.e let planned transfer orders exclude minimum order
quantity?

Thanks

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Inv - Manage planned order qty

2007-07-30 Thread edwardjosling
Hi Anil

According to the Ax help:
Indicate whether the default quantity in the picking list journal is
to control and write up corresponding stock transactions. If you do
not select the field, the consumption quantity in the picking list
journal is to control and write up corresponding stock transactions.
Control means that there will always be a quantity in the stock
transactions to satisfy the quantity in the journal lines.

This means...if you select this option, the corresponding stock
transaction(s) that are created when the picking journal line is
created, are in accordance with the proposal quantity. It doesn't
matter if you change the actual consunmption quantity, the stock
tansaction don't change. The reason for this is for MRP and MPS

 Hi everyone.

We have many multi-line sales orders, each line the same delivery

(i.e. delivery date for the whole sales order). It is critical that
as far as possible we don't want to do partial shipments, because
many

Therefore, the production planner needs to have an overview of each
sales order from the master planning side to indicate which orders
will not meet the required delivery date. Axapta do this by item
(as
each order can have more than one item on it), but we fail to see a

indicating if the delivery date will be met or not.

Anyone have an idea? Can this be done through customization?

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Priority scheduling of sales orders

2006-03-22 Thread edwardjosling
Hi evryone!

Hope someone can help me. The company manufactures and sell items.
It happens that these items can go on a promotion. When this occur,

For example, there is two sales orders for the same item, with the
same delivery date. The one sales order for the specific customer is
on a promotion and should take priority when scheduling is done. (The
whole sales order is considered to be a promotion.)

Anybody know how to solve this in standard Ax 3.0?

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Fixed Assets Structure report

2005-02-03 Thread edwardjosling

Hi everyone

Do anyone know if there is any way how to report asset transactions,
using the fixed asset structure as defined on the asset register
itself?

My client has machines that consists of different parts and this
will be reflected in the asset register as such - each part/addition
will have a seperate aquisition date, service life ect. We are
grouping these assets into a main group, i.e printing machines, but
there is more than one of these main macines with additions.

We are using a manual naming convention to group the simillar
machines together, but I was wondering if there is anyone who has
done something to report assets using the asset structure.

Regards
Eddie
