[Bacula-users] windows enterprise is not working, x32/x64.
Hi. I have been using bacula since 2.x, now I decide to add a new server to my list of backups: Windows 2008 R2 x64. Server Centos 5.8 x64 Bacula-server 5.0.3 x64. I download bacula-enterprise-demo-win64-6.0.6. In my network I had other windows XP, windows 2003 running no issue 5.x. I setup everything server/client side. I check my client side, port 9102 open, tested with telnet good, firewall off. I test server side conection with the client and no luck, I check settings, passwords are good. Them I get deeper and open my cmd with admin rights in windows 2k8-r2. I move to bacula folder: c:\Program Files\Bacula\ and start checking. C:\Program Files\Bacula>bacula-fd.exe -t bacula-fd.conf C:\Program Files\Bacula> 10-Jan 13:35 bacula-fd: ERROR TERMINATION at lib/parse_conf.c:918 Config error: Cannot open config file "C:\ProgramData\Bacula/bacula-fd.conf": No such file or directory a) Why that Bacula/bacula-fd.conf? b) C:\ProgramData\Bacula this doesn't exist. Them I try using full path: C:\Program Files\Bacula>"C:\Program Files\Bacula\bacula-fd.exe" -t "C:\Program F iles\Bacula\bacula-fd.conf" C:\Program Files\Bacula> U can see their is no error. I try to run the app using Full path but my server side same error, this is my email: 10-Jan 13:21 bacula-dir JobId 0: Fatal error: Unable to authenticate with File daemon at "192.168.2.10:9102". Possible causes: Passwords or names not the same or Maximum Concurrent Jobs exceeded on the FD or FD networking messed up (restart daemon). Please see http://www.bacula.org/en/rel-manual/Bacula_Freque_Asked_Questi.html#SECTION00376 for help. Password cannot be, I had review this very well and my others windows clients working good. Windows 2008-R2 x64 event viewer: The description for Event ID 0 from source Bacula-fd cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: Bacula-fd error: 1063 at ../libwin32/service.cpp:172 StartServiceCtrlDispatcher failed. The service process could not connect to the service controller. I had try bconsole using the full path and cannot even connect with the director with bconsol.exe Last thing I did was to create the folder inside ProgramData, now bacula-fd.exe -t or bconsola.exe -t don't give those errors, but I have the same problem. Now, after this I decide to test in my windows xp pro sp3 x32 machine, download 6.0.6 x32 and the same problems. Re: [Bacula-users] migrate db from mysql 5.1 to mysql 5.0?
This is a decision I took because for one reason, Kaspersky AV Secure Center is not capable to run on MySQL 5.1, I have a bunch on servers running 5.1 and I don't any plan to install MS SQL server for the AV, them I decide to move my bacula backend to 5.0 and have just bacula/kaspersky there. This is just the only reason. If for some reason I see some performance issues I will return to mysql 5.1 and let my AV on this version. I let u know what happen, thanks!!! [Bacula-users] MaximumVolJobs not working!!!
Hi. Want to understand why bacula 5.0.2 don't want to use my tape until it reach the MaximumVolJobs. I have 2 pools: Full-Backups Diff-Backups I will focus on Diff tapes. Storage: Tape. Pool Diff: Pool { Name = CompanyDiffTape Pool Type = Backup Use Volume Once = no Maximum Volume Jobs = 72 Maximum Volume Files = 0 Maximum Volume Bytes = 0 Volume Use Duration = 0 Catalog Files = yes Recycle = yes AutoPrune = yes dolume Retention = 180 days Label Format = TapeDiff- } U can see that I want to have 72 jobs on each tape and save the tape for 180 days. The problem is that bacula is using the tape just 1 week, next week he wants a new volume, in one week I can 36 jobs, with 72 I can save 2 weeks. Reading the db, I see that tape-a have just 36 jobs for 72 maximum, them why on earth he want a new volume and not finish this one. This happen every week. Some could point me if I had issues with my settings? Thanks!!! Centos 5.5. -- Achieve unprecedented app performance and reliability What every C/C++ and Fortran developer should know. [Bacula-users] Can I enable compression in the schedule resource?
Hi people. I want to know if this is possible, I have 1 tape device where I save my Full backups, my Differential backups goes to my hard disk, when I run the Full backups, my compression is disable in order to use my device HW compression, but my differential backups have the compression enable, because I don't have to much space to save each Diff backup, is all my problem. To enable, I have to open the bacula-dir.conf fiel chage my settings and done, reload the file, but I was wondering if I bacula can handle this alone,? Like in the same Schedule Resource to put compression=GZIP and with this the job will run my : Run = Level = Differential Storage = File Pool = MueblexDiffFile compression=GZIP tue-thu at 19:00 compression=GZIP/off something like this. Went this schedule run, will compress my files, that's all. Thanks for your support. [Bacula-users] What is the meaning of the query 16 in bacula 2.2.5?
Hi. I have been working with some tapes for some months, i was wondering how much data my tape have been writing && erasing. I use the command query option 16 and receive this data: +---+++++ | Volume| Mounts | Errors | Writes | Status | +---+++++ | FullTape-0007 | 10 | 0 | 19,008,158 | Full | | FullTape-0015 | 3 | 0 | 4,982,277 | Used | | FullTape-0014 | 3 | 0 | 5,149,360 | Used | | FullTape-0004 | 3 | 0 | 4,796,619 | Used | | FullTape-0001 | 3 | 0 | 5,153,608 | Used | | FullTape-0013 | 5 | 0 | 8,990,607 | Used | | FullTape-0011 | 7 | 0 | 10,309,906 | Used | | FullTape-0010 | 9 | 0 | 13,201,649 | Used | | FullTape-0009 | 9 | 0 | 18,643,901 | Used | | FullTape-0008 | 9 | 0 | 17,578,293 | Used | | FullTape-0006 | 10 | 0 | 15,953,200 | Used | | FullTape-0005 | 11 | 0 | 20,655,434 | Used | | FullTape-0003 | 11 | 0 | 20,101,553 | Used | | FullTape-0002 | 11 | 0 | 19,915,631 | Used Now i can see that i don't have any errors, now, what about the other fields: Mount, is how many times, bacula have been using the command Mount for the volume? This is my bacula-sd.conf for my tape: # A FreeBSD tape drive -->FreeBSDFroums Device { Name = StorageWorks-232 Media Type = LTO-1 Archive Device = /dev/nsa0 AutomaticMount = yes AlwaysOpen = yes Removable media = yes Label media = yes Random access = no Hardware End of Medium = no BSF at EOM = yes Backward Space Record = no Fast Forward Space File = no TWO EOF = yes Maximum Network Buffer Size = 131072 Maximum Spool Size = 17GB Spool Directory = "/spool" } The option AlwaysOpen=yes, my understanding is, once bacula use the command Mount, will always keep the device opened, until he fished all the jobs, in my case they are each weekend 10 jobs = 95GB total, each monday 7 jobs = 70GB total. My volume retention period is: 80 days. HP say this about this tapes: Technology Load Unload Cycles Full Volume Back ups (FVB) Number of Passes Ultrium20,000 260 1,000,000 Them, could please someone explain me what bacula tell me with this info, i will appreciated a lot. [Bacula-users] bacula 2.2.5 Change FileRetention and JobRetention in Client Table?
Hi. I update bacula server from 1.38.x to 2.2.5, looks everything right, i test a restore procedure on each client and everything is working. But i have some issue not big deal but i would like to fix this. I have 2 servers with FreeBSD 6.2, but in 1 of them is not recycling my volumes, look this are all my volumes: +-+--+---+-++--+--+-+--+---+---+-+ | MediaId | VolumeName | VolStatus | Enabled | VolBytes | VolFiles | VolRetention | Recycle | Slot | InChanger | MediaType | LastWritten | +-+--+---+-++--+--+-+--+---+---+-+ | 6 | OakFullFile-0004 | Used | 1 | 36,430,308,943 |8 |2,419,200 | 1 |0 | 0 | File | 2007-10-15 22:02:03 | | 10 | OakFullFile-0006 | Used | 1 | 31,626,348,650 |7 |2,419,200 | 1 |0 | 0 | File | 2007-10-01 22:02:06 | | 12 | OakFullFile-0007 | Used | 1 | 36,411,310,613 |8 |2,419,200 | 1 |0 | 0 | File | 2007-10-08 22:01:59 | | 75 | OakFullFile-0008 | Used | 1 | 35,145,188,372 |8 |2,419,200 | 1 |0 | 0 | File | 2007-10-30 16:47:31 | | 86 | OakFullFile-0009 | Used | 1 | 34,500,825,458 |8 |2,419,200 | 1 |0 | 0 | File | 2007-10-30 16:11:40 | | 87 | OakFullFile-0010 | Used | 1 | 85,351,535 |0 |2,419,200 | 1 |0 | 0 | File | 2007-10-25 13:24:07 | +-+--+---+-++--+--+-+--+---+---+-+ This is one client: Client: name=MAIL-CLI address=192.168.1.7 FDport=9102 MaxJobs=1 JobRetention=27 days FileRetention=27 days AutoPrune=1 --> Catalog: name=MyCatalog address=*None* DBport=0 db_name=bacula db_user=bacula MutliDBConn=0 This is bacula-Client data in mysql: +--+-+-+---+---+--+ | ClientId | Name| Uname | AutoPrune | FileRetention | JobRetention | +--+-+-+---+---+--+ |1 | MAILOAK-CLI | 2.0.3 | 1 | 2592000 | 2678400 | |2 | FIREWALLOAK-CLI | 2.0.3 | 1 | 2592000 | 2678400 | |3 | SAMBAOAK-CLI| 2.2.5 | 1 | 2592000 | 2678400 | |4 | ACCOUNT-CLI | 2.2.5 | 1 | 2592000 | 2678400 | |5 | FILTEROAK-CLI | 2.0.3 | 1 | 2592000 | 2678400 | |6 | CATALOG-CLI | 2.2.5 | 1 | 2592000 | 2678400 | |7 | PBXOAK-CLI | 2.2.5 | 1 | 2592000 | 2678400 | +--+-+-+---+---+--+ You can see that the client resource && database data is different. My pools have VolumeRetention period with 28 days, i change my clients File && Job retention to 27 days, restart bacula and reload the bacula-dir file but the databases didn't change. I want to recycle volumes each 28 days, now i have to manually recycle my volumes. This is my bacula-dir.conf: Client { Name = PBXOAK-CLI Address = 192.168.1.5 FDPort = 9102 Catalog = MyCatalog Password = "PASSWORD" File Retention = 27 days Job Retention = 27 days Autoprune = yes } My oldest volume date is: 2007-10-01 22:02:06 now the date is 2007-11-05: almost 35 days, and look: Scheduled Jobs: Level Type Pri Scheduled Name Volume Full Backup11 05-Nov-07 17:00FIREWALL*unknown* Full Backup12 05-Nov-07 17:20SAMBA *unknown* Full Backup13 05-Nov-07 18:30aacount *unknown* Full Backup16 05-Nov-07 20:00pbxOAK *unknown* Full Backup10 05-Nov-07 20:10MAIL*unknown* Full Backup14 05-Nov-07 21:10FILTER *unknown* Full Backup15 05-Nov-07 22:00BackupCatalog *unknown* Some could advised me how to fix this, i want bacula recycle my volumes automatically, anything about i will appreciated, t

Im right now testing 2.0.3, but if i see soon 2.2.0 in my FreeBSD ports collection i will switch to, my server doesn't have any X stuff but if bat gets there to i will setup my X-window system with pleasure ASAP, with bat now i have a reason to setup X. Can bat run on any machine running Linux/Unix with X-Windows system enable but not running the director just calling the director by his IP address? Thanks all u people for this great backup system. [Bacula-users] Bacula update from 1.38.11 to 2.X?
Hi people. I install bacula 2.0.1 in FreeBSD 6.2 Release. I have in another computer running bacula 1.38.11 OS FreeBSD with MySQL 4.1, is working really great i had already restore over 85GB to one Linux client running Centos 4.4 from tape, bacula again show his power. Well my doubt is this, i setup bacula 2.0.1 on FreeBSD 6.2 with MySQL 4.1in a test machine, i want to try this new version, but i don't want to use my production server, them: If i want to update my current version (1.38.11) to 2.0.1 i just copy the database from my production server to my test server and run the update script? I have to make another think? This all my doubt, thanks for your time, greetings all!!! - Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security? On 11/24/06, Andras Horvai <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hi, You are right. My answer was wrong. I did some research in the manual and I found this: (page 292 in the pdf): - File Retention = The File Retention record defines the length of time that Bacula will keep File records in the Catalog database. When this time period expires, and if Au- toPrune is set to yes, Bacula will prune (remove) File records that are older than the specified File Retention period. The pruning will occur at the end of a backup Job for the given Client. Note that the Client database record contains a copy of the File and Job retention periods, but Bacula uses the current values found in the Director's Client resource to do the pruning. - So regarding the documentation you don't need to do anything else. You have already restarted the director daemon. Obviously. Bacula looks for the date of the lates full backup and storesall files newer than that. Simple algorithm, simple solution in yourcase :-)> If you can see, i disable the volumes from november but i still cannot > get any files from my differential backups.Sure. You need to "disable" the jobs so that Bacula won't consider themas the base for the differentials.> Someone could help to fix this problem, im running just Full-Backups > right now, but is not what i need. Hope someone could show the way to> fix this, thanks all for your time.Simple solution:Delete the jobs in question.The 'delete jobid=' command is what you use for that. Make sure you really use the right job ids...More complex solution, but you will keep the data (though I don't thinkthat's important, you should have enough full backups by now :-) wouldbe to set the backups date correctly for the jobs in question. If you can work with your database frontend - mysql in your case - itshould be a simple operation: 'UPDATE Job SET SchedTime="2006-10-812:00:00",StartTime="2006-10-8 12:00:01",EndTime="2006-10-8 12:00:02" WHERE JobId=;'Note that the above is absolutely untested, I might have given you wrongSQL commands, and even if the command succeeded you might lose all yourcatalog data, the milk in fridge might get sour and it could start to rain... so, you better ensure you have a current catalog dump, shut downBacula before this modification, and do some careful tests afterwards.And, of course, you would use dates that reflect your situation... > Greetings people!!!Good luck!Arno>>> >> - > Using Tomcat but need to do more? [Bacula-users] Bacula is not getting files on Differential Backups?
Ahi people. FreeBSD 6.1-p3 Bacula 1.38.11 MySQL 4 People, last week i was having problems with freebsd because i enable one "Experimental" feature that start crashing my backups, on those days, i reset my server couple of times to install new kernel's, on those days i didnt check the system time, for some mistake i put the system in november 2006, then i run 2 Full-Backups, see my volumes: +-+---+---+-+--+--+-+--+---+---+-+| MediaId | VolumeName | VolStatus | VolBytes | VolFiles | VolRetention | Recycle | Slot | InChanger | MediaType | LastWritten | +-+---+---+-+--+--+-+--+---+---+-+| 2 | FullTape-0002 | Disabled | 1 | 0 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-09-26 06:01:43 | | 3 | FullTape-0003 | Used | 133,230,770,269 | 136 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-10-12 07:02:01 || 4 | FullTape-0004 | Recycle | 1 | 0 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-10-03 03:03:00 | | 6 | FullTape-0005 | Purged | 142,237,460,482 | 145 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-10-04 05:02:04 || 7 | FullTape-0006 | Used | 53,145,455,117 | 54 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-10-04 16:32:49 | | 9 | FullTape-0007 | Disabled | 90,085,679,809 | 91 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-11-05 15:29:35 || 11 | FullTape-0008 | Disabled | 1 | 0 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-09-09 03:51:30 | | 13 | FullTape-0009 | Used | 161,190,988,718 | 165 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-10-09 07:01:46 | | 16 | FullTape-0010 | Used | 132,758,831,828 | 135 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | LTO-1 | 2006-10-10 07:01:51 | | 20 | FullTape-0001 | Disabled | 142,376,478,881 | 145 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 1 | LTO-1 | 2006-11-06 00:54:34 |+-+---+---+-+--+--+-+--+---+---+-+ You can see that i have 2 volumes from november(black bold), we are in octuber. The freebsd problem was fix, i fix the system date, run some Full-backups this week( Red). Then i setup my schedule to start working with Differential backups again on File, but is not getting any file, this is my Diferential Volumes(File):+-+---+---++--+--+-+--+---+---+-+ | MediaId | VolumeName | VolStatus | VolBytes | VolFiles | VolRetention | Recycle | Slot | InChanger | MediaType | LastWritten |+-+---+---++--+--+-+--+---+---+-+ | 18 | FileDiff-0001 | Append | 4,375 | 0 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | File | 2006-10-12 09:52:21 || 19 | FileDiff-0002 | Purged | 12,523,860,666 | 2 | 2,332,800 | 1 | 0 | 0 | File | 2006-09-29 19:31:45 | +-+---+---++--+--+-+--+---+---+-+You can see, FileDiff-0002 = 12.5GB, now watch FileDiff-0001 = 4kb. This morning, after watching that my Full-Backups where a success, i run one Differential backup and see if i can get some files, this server is the most bussy, every time you run a differential or incremental backup you are going to get files(before my problems). [Bacula-users] Full Backup on Tape and Diff Backups on Disk With gzip enable?
Hi people. I read some mails about this situation, went you make Full-Backups on tape without any compression enable in bacula-dir.conf->FileSet, and Differential-Backups on disk but you want to enable compression to save some extra GB on disk, in my case i will save about 8-10GB of data a day if i enable this. I have never try this, but i think that someone can modifiy the bacula-dir.conf -> FileSet each time you decide, but will be some day that you are going to forget or not be on your office to made the changes and something unpredictable will happend. Exist some future project for this..? Thanks for your time!!! - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. [Bacula-users] Network Buffer Size on Clients...?
Hi. Im testing bacula-server 1.38.11 on freebsd 6.1-p3 with tape. I think all want to get the best performance of the backups and restores. Them we have some variables that we can work with, like the famous Network Buffer Size, if we set the correct value between the sd-daemon and the fd-daemon we can get some extra performance, now the default value is 32768 and both sides, how can we know the correct value on each client?, because normally each client has his own TCP stack. Maximum Network Buffer Size == Maximum Socket Buffer Size ??? If this true, someone knows how can we get this value on each client? Example NT4, windows 2k, XP? any link to webpages are welcome, Linux has his own variable. I just want to know how to get this value and tunne my clients. Another thing, suppose that, i have one client that only can have his maximum value to 8kb and another to 32kb, and just have one sd-daemon which only let me set 1 value there (Network Buffer Size) for all clients, is posible to tunne this value for each fd-daemon? I just want to learn more and get more performance from bacula, any info will be apreciated, thanks for your time. - Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security? [Bacula-users] Problems with new process to start bacula on FreeBSD, rc.conf...?
Hi people. I already install bacula 1.38.8 no FreeBSD setup my /etc/rc.conf file to start bacula, that method is very good, but i have some problems every time i restart my system or try to stopthe bacula-dir.daemon .1; Every time that my system boots he try to start bacula first and latter mysql, bacula depends of mysql, and for this little reason the daemon fails to start, just start the fd and sd daemons. Solution: start the daemon manually or create a script to start the daemon. 1.1; For this reason i change my settings on /etc/rc.conf from:bacula_dir_enable = "YES" tobacula_dir_enable="NO" Because if the daemon cannot start i dont have a reason to loose time waiting the system to try starting the dir daemon. Problem: if i want to start the demon manually: zorra#/usr/local/etc/rc.d/bacula-dir.sh start Dosent start for this change, i need to have ="YES" if i want to start the dir daemon manually. 2; If i want to stop the demon:/usr/local/etc/rc.d/bacula-dir.sh stopupss... Waiting to stop PID ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Ctrl+ci stop the fd and them the sd daemon and sometime can stop the dir daemon but others same behavior, even if i dont have any jobs running or pending to run.I need to kill the PID sometimes.I dont have any problems with bacula runnnig, is working very good, i have test windows 2000 and freebsd clients and all backups are success, just this little problems. Any solution to this or iam doing something wrong...?FreeBSD 6.0-p6MySQL 5.019Bacula 1.38.8

Them what happend here: Fatal Error: Could not open database "bacula" Fatal Error: mysql.c:164 Unable to connect to MySQL server. Them start the fd, sd and latter mysql... Ok here i disable the dir daemon on rc.conf from YES ->NO, this way starts mysql first them i can manually start bacula dir daemon, but if i try to enable bacula dir daemon: zorra# /usr/local/etc/rc.c/bacula-dir start The system dosent start the daemon, because it reads the /etc/rc.conf file and if the var bacula_dir_enable="NO" Dosent start the daemon, i need to change the var to YES and them i can run manually bacula-dir or run all the command manually /usr/local/sbin/bacula-dir -u bacula -g bacula -v -c /usr/local/etc/bacula-dir.conf Well is all i like to say, the solution i have right now is making a small shell script that will run after rc.conf finish loading and the i can run bacula dir daemon. I have another issue but that one i will ask on freebsd maillist, thanks for your time, greattings all.

I reset the device and nothing, same problem, i think the "sensor" stop responding i reset the Box, and receive the error i have seen on a lot of maillist:ahc0: target 6 synchronous at 40.0MHz , offset = 0xf(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): error 6(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): Unretryable Error(ahc0:A:6:0): Sending WDTR 1(ahc0:A:6:0): Received WDTR 1 filtered to 1ahc0: target 6 using 16bit transfers(ahc0:A:6:0): Sending SDTR period a, offset f (ahc0:A:6:0): Received SDTR period a, offset f Filtered to period a, offset fahc0: target 6 synchronous at 40.0MHz, offset = 0xf(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): error 6(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): Unretryable Error zorra#mt statusmt: /dev/nsa0: Device not configuredmy console: (ahc0:A:6:0): Received WDTR 1 filtered to 1ahc0: target 6 using 16bit transfers(ahc0:A:6:0): Sending SDTR period a, offset f(ahc0:A:6:0): Received SDTR period a, offset f Filtered to period a, offset fahc0: target 6 synchronous at 40.0MHz, offset = 0xf(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): error 6(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): Unretryable Error(ahc0:A:6:0): Sending WDTR 1(ahc0:A:6:0): Received WDTR 1 filtered to 1 ahc0: target 6 using 16bit transfers(ahc0:A:6:0): Sending SDTR period a, offset f(ahc0:A:6:0): Received SDTR period a, offset f Filtered to period a, offset fahc0: target 6 synchronous at 40.0MHz , offset = 0xf(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): error 6(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): Unretryable Error(ahc0:A:6:0): Sending WDTR 1(ahc0:A:6:0): Received WDTR 1 filtered to 1ahc0: target 6 using 16bit transfers(ahc0:A:6:0): Sending SDTR period a, offset f (ahc0:A:6:0): Received SDTR period a, offset f Filtered to period a, offset fahc0: target 6 synchronous at 40.0MHz, offset = 0xf(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): error 6(sa0:ahc0:0:6:0): Unretryable Error I want to try this with FreeBSD 6.0, but right now i need Technical support for the tape. Some solution to this Hardware problem...? What i need to do is(i think:-?):*Fix the problem*Try to get another cable, this one is old, but my btape test was a success...?*Test with FreeBSD 6.0, 6.1*If i receive the same problems i have with 5.4 Update the Firmware *If i update the firmware and my test again fail Use mmm i still dont know... We can buy 2 HD do a Raid-1, setup bacula there, on HD the backups work great, but this is a great device 200GB is a waste of equipment, dont yu think...? Any tips to fix my device will be apreciated really!!!

[Bacula-users] Question about spool process...?
Hi people. I have some simple doubt about the spool options that we can use for bacula, i want to backup 4 servers, using 1 HP Ultrium 200GB tape, the amount of data is about 120GB only, well if i decide to use the spool option, bacula will wait all the clients data and them after finish spolling the 4 servers data i will start sending to the tape...? This mean that i need one HD >= 120 GB to use the spool option in this example..? Thanks all for your time.
[Bacula-users] Backup Windows Open Files...?
Hi guys. I want to try bacula on FreeBSD 5.4-p8, the OS that i want to backup are: 1; Win 2k3 Standard Edition 2; Win NT PDC+BDC 3; Linux + SAMBA (Red Hat 9) The questions is this one, in the samba server we are running one database Pervasive that some times users let running aplicationes and some files are open went we backup those files. I read that Bacula cannot backup "OPEN FILES", this is correct or is no more a problem. Them, if bacula cannot bakup open files, can someone have a idea how to handle this problem with bacula...? I will have my FreeBSD box with some Raid solution 160GB space. Greetings to all.
