Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New in 7.9: "Don't Stop The Music"
Will MIN_TRACKS_LEFT always be a constant or could you imagine letting plugins/mixes set that value (within a certain range) as you do with number of used seed tracks and such? I'm only asking because sometimes I skip tracks very quickly (near the end of the current playlist) and it happens that I find myself at the beginning of the playlist because the mixer and DSTM couldn't add new tracks in time. So increasing MIN_TRACKS_LEFT might help in that case. Just an idea. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105757 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

So I'm not @erland who would be the one qualified to answer those questions but my guess, maybe line 416/7: Code: if(defined($mixInfo{$masterClient}->{'type'})) { my $playlist = getPlayList($client,$mixInfo{$masterClient}->{'type'}); If type returns "disabled" then DPL is not active? For me DPL behaves in many regards much like RandomPlay, except for DSTM: when I start a RandomPlay mix and skip to the penultimate track, DSTM doesn't take over. When I start a DPL mix and skip to the penultimate track DSTM takes over and adds tracks. It probably hasn't come up before because DSTM kicks in at the penultimate track while (I think) the default DPL settings add tracks earlier. So unless you skip very fast or change the default DPL settings you probably won't notice this. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105757 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New in 7.9: "Don't Stop The Music"
Michael, do you think you could add Erland's *DynamicPlaylist* plugin to the 'list of mix plugins that DSTM watches out for' (https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/blob/7b30413bad6142b80de4a089c0786d41b0338554/Slim/Plugin/DontStopTheMusic/Plugin.pm#L177)? Right now I think DSTM starts to load new tracks when the -penultimate- playlist track has started. The time that different mixers require to come up with the next batch of DSTM tracks varies, depending on hardware, what the mixer plugin does and such. Sometimes I wish I could set DSTM to load tracks *earlier* (like "5 tracks before the last one") to allow for slower response times or quick serial-skipping. An option for that would be great imho. [SlimDevices: Beta] Incorrect entries (without content) in menus - LMS bug?
Hi. This is a split from 'another thread' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109367-Empty-albums-in-virtual-library) about a problem which I originally believed to be limited to virutal libraries but which I also find in built-in LMS menus (genre). From my understanding it could be linked to how LMS handles compilation albums. Two examples: #1 You have an artist with some studio albums (artist = album artist) and who also has contributed a couple of tracks to some compilations. Some tracks (only studio album tracks) have "SOMECOMMENT" in their comment tag. None of his compilation tracks has "SOMECOMMENT" in the comment tag. Now I do a search for "SOMECOMMENT" in the comment tag & create an artist menu for that library view. Then when I look up this artist in the newly created artist menu (for all tracks with "SOMECOMMENT"), it shows all of the correct albums with the correct tracks in them. But it *also* shows some of the compilations but with no content (it says "empty"). The connection is: these compilations have tracks with "SOMECOMMENT", but from *other* artists. Why do these albums show up here at all? In short: in the -artists- menu, you have *artist >* (false compilation) *album > empty* virtual library has tracks from this artist, virtual library has tracks from this compilation, but *not* from *this* artist on *this* compilation. THERE SHOULD BE NO INTERSECTION BETWEEN THIS VIRTUAL LIBRARY (ALL TRACKS WITH SOMECOMMENT), THIS ARTIST AND THIS COMPILATION BUT IT STILL SHOWS THIS COMPILATION (EMPTY CONTENT) IN HIS ALBUMS LIST. #2 THE SECOND EXAMPLE IS SIMILAR, WITH DIFFERENT \"VARIABLES\". AND IT CAN BE FOUND IN THE BUILT-IN GENRE MENU AS WELL. YOU HAVE AN ARTIST ARTIST A WHO HAS A STUDIO ALBUM TAGGED -GENRE 1-. SHE HAS ALSO CONTRIBUTED SONGS TO COMPILATIONS THAT HAVE SONGS FROM OTHER ARTIST TAGGED AS GENRE 2, GENRE 2 ETC.. A COMPILATION WITH SONGS OF MORE THAN ONE GENRE. WHEN I GO TO THE BUILT-IN LMS -GENRES- MENU TO GENRE 1 > ARTIST A, IT WILL SHOW ME THE CORRECT ALBUMS WITH THE CORRECT SONGS (TAGGED AS GENRE 1), BUT IT WILL ALSO SHOW ME AN ENTRY (WITHOUT CONTENT) FOR ONE OR MORE COMPILATIONS TO WHICH ARTIST A HAS CONTRIBUTED A SONG BUT NOT TAGGED AS GENRE 1. IN SHORT: IN THE LMS -GENRES- MENU, YOU HAVE *GENRE >* ARTIST > (FALSE COMPILATION) *ALBUM > EMPTY this genre has tracks from this artist, this genre has tracks from this compilation, but not* from *this* artist on *this* compilation. *There should be no intersection between this genre, this artist and this compilation* but it still shows this compilation (empty content) in his albums list. I hope someone can figure this out. Additional information can be found in the parent 'thread' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109367-Empty-albums-in-virtual-library). [SlimDevices: Beta] No log rotation on macOS?
Hi. I'm running the latest build of LMS 7.9.2 on macOS 10.13.6 but this particular issue has been around for some time. I just forgot about it. It seems that *LMS logs on macOS are not rotated*, at least not here on my machine. My server.log is now at ~16 MB. And it would probably be even bigger if I hadn't done a major OS update in May deleting old stuff manually like old logs manually in the process. I don't know if other software like Plex Media Server uses OS built-in logrotation but PMS logs do get rotated as expected. Maybe you can look into this when you find the time. Thank you. P.S. FYI the macOS LMS installer pkg still seems to have a signing problem (not signed?) => warning message on opening it. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109309 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

All went well - until I tried to install another plugin and the 'reinstalled' one had just disappeared. Is reinstalling a plugin as simple as putting the folder back in the -Installed Plugins- folder or is there more to consider? [SlimDevices: Beta] Mac: can you please store Installed Plugins somewhere else than in the cache folder?
Hi. I'm running LMS on a Mac where among many other things LMS stores *installed* plugins in my user's *cache folder*. The problem is: it's not a very safe place to store stuff in because every now and then the entire cache folder gets deleted due to (major) OS updates, trouble shooting and what not. Ideally, I could just do another LMS rescan and be done with it. BUT the *installed* plugins got deleted (as part of the cache folder) and I need to reinstall all of the plugins. Plus at some point, some plugins that are no longer available in any repo may be gone for good. Especially, since the -Cache- folder is excluded from most backups by design/default, TimeMachine is just one example. So I wouldn't be able to recover lost plugins if they couldn't be re-downloaded from their repos. I know this seems like a small matter and I don't know how this is handled on other OS. Talking for the Mac version: couldn't you move just this "installed plugins" folder somewhere safe to ensure minimal downtime/hassle when the cache folder gets deleted again? Maybe to the -Applications Support- folder (~/Library/Application Support/)? I think that one already has a Squeezebox subfolder in it where you could put it. Oh, BTW, I get a codesigning related warning ("not a verified developer...") since the last 2 Mac OSX installer packages (beta). Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] --nomysqueezebox: disable all mysb.comintegration in LMS 7.9
I'm on macOS 10.12. There are 2 LMS restart scenarios: One is where I reboot my entire computer. For that LMS creates a LaunchAgent in my user account which I have modified (read-only) so that it will load with the switch --nomysqueezebox. So that's not a problem. The second is the problem, i.e. when the restart command comes from the LMS code (like after installing a plugin) or from within iPeng. Whenever I need to restart LMS this way, I guess it is done via the shell script in the preferences pane bundle at /Library/PreferencesPanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/Resources. You have a script there called -start-server.sh- with the line -./slimserver.pl --daemon $1 &> /dev/null &- So it does take arguments ($1) which is why I can restart the server in terminal manually: sh '/Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/Resources/start-server.sh' --nomysqueezebox But I think the restart from within iPeng and the restart after installing/removing plugins just call the script without any argument. Therefore I get the mysqueezebox again and have to restart LMS manually each time to get rid of it. So my thinking was that a setting could make LMS call the script with the --nomysqueezebox switch as argument by default. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103210 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] --nomysqueezebox: disable all mysb.comintegration in LMS 7.9
Just in case anybody runs LMS on macOS and wants to try this - here's how I got ---nomysqueezebox- to work on macOS (10.12): When the server starts it (sometimes?) seems to reset the LMS launchagent (path in my case: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/Squeezebox.plist) to its default state deleting any modifications, i.e. --nomysqueezebox. So I made a copy of Squeezebox.plist, then opened the original in a text editor, "*emptied*", saved, and *locked* the file (to prevent any changes). I renamed the copy and added the ---nomysqueezebox- as program arguments: Code: Label Squeezebox RunAtLoad Program /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl *ProgramArguments /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl --nomysqueezebox * WorkingDirectory /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server StandardOutPath /Users/YOUR_USERNAME/Library/Logs/Squeezebox/server.log StandardErrorPath /Users/YOUR_USERNAME/Library/Logs/Squeezebox/server.log afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103210 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.9 Problems/Bugs
Hi. Am I wrong? You know this bug: if you use iPeng and look at a compilation (in any -built-in- album or compilation menu) it won't show the artist for some tracks but instead the album artist (Various Artists in the case of compilations here). Example: compilation name = XXYY Bug shows in iPeng menus (from root menu level) Albums > XXYY Compilations > XXYY any album menu based on a saved search/view If I look up the same track under artist > album (XXYY) > trackname, the artist is (of course?) correct. It's driving me a bit crazy because in every compilation I have many tracks that are only marked as Various Artists where the artist name should be. I always have to go into the tag details to find out who the actual artist is for these tracks. Could anybody pleeease fix this? I don't think this is a very exotic problem/request. Being able to indentify your tracks in the album/compilation view seems to me part of the core functions. Anybody using iPeng with a couple of compilations will probably know what I mean. Thank you for your quick and honest reply. I'm not going to lie, it was a bit of a sobering read :) Anyway, any chance you could maybe someday add these two tiny little totally not very space consuming micro settings to the advanced search menu: a compilations (true/false) setting & a negative (exclude) comment search option in addition to the positive (include) comments search? That would already make setting up ABMs and Virtual Libraries so much easier for me, and maybe not just me I hope. BTW about grouping: Is there maybe already some plugin you can think of that can group menus I created with ABM? I suppose Custom Browse can't group those menus, right? About ratings: say I have no Trackstat or CustomScan installed, how would I let LMS know that a 60 -in the song's grouping tag- means 3 stars? As for the rest (20 Random Compilations, Compilations by Genre, more ABM view options), well, I can always hope that someday this will show up one way (Erland's new CB) or another. [SlimDevices: Beta] Additional Browse Modes - can I rebuild my CB menus?
Hi. I'm trying to rebuild some -Custom Browse Menus- using 7.9 -Advanced Search-, -Library Views-, and -Additional Browse Modes- (ABM). I was hoping that those rebuilt menus would be faster than my CB menus - and also, in case Erland never finds the time to fully adapt CB to 7.9, I would have rebuilt at least my most used CB menus. However, I've run into some problems: _#1_missing_ABM_options_ In the LMS advanced settings for ABM I can choose between -artists- and -albums- as view options. I would very much like to have -genres- and -songs- to use those (sub)menus. Can I do that on my own (some setting/config file) or is it something that only a developer can do? _#2_groups_ Can I put ABM menus into groups? An example for #1 and #2 would be an ABM menu for all songs containing the keyword XYZ in the comments tag: group -XYZ- Artists Albums Genres Songs Also this would allow me to rebuild the CB menu -Decades- with Decades as group name and the ABM menu for the each decade (based on a saved library view) inside. Putting ABM menus into groups would make the top level menu a lot less crowded for me I suppose. _#3_Advanced_Search_Options_&_ABM_ I would use libary views (saved advanced searches) as the source for my ABMs. But I still need to figure out how to do certain searches: - I didn't find a setting for compilations (true/false) in the advanced search menu. - How can I do a search but exclude tracks containing certain keywords in the comments tag? - And can I have both in the same search: tracks containing keyword XZY -but not- keyword ABC in the comments tag? - When I use a comma separated list of words to search for songs containing these in the comments tag, it's treated as an AND-search. Can I also do an OR-search (finding all tracks containing at least one of the keywords in the comments tag)? _#4_Compilations_&_ABM_ - Is it possible to build a ABM menu -20 Random Compilations- (much like the brilliant -20 Random Albums-, only for compilations)? - How can I build an ABM entry -Compilations by Genre- which would be like the compilations menu only with a genre selection/menu before that? _#5_Track_Ratings_ I have stored the rating of my tracks in their grouping tag as a number (0-100). Does 7.9 with its library views, advanced search and ABM still need Trackstat + CustomScan to use those ratings? Or is there another (faster/simpler) way to access those rating without Erland's plugins? I would mainly use those rating to create ABM menus like group -3 stars and more- Artists Albums Genres Songs Sorry, this got so long with so many questions. It's not a criticism just an honest attempt at understanding what I can do with 7.9. Thank you very much for any help or suggestions. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.9 Problems/Bugs
It's certainly not a -huge- issue. Just, you know, when you look at compilation albums in iPeng and half of the tracks feature 'Various Artists' instead of the artist tag... it can be a bit difficult or annoying to guess what's what then. That's all. If it ever gets fixed (I'm not giving up hope, yet), is there a changelog for the (daily) nightlies or something like those github comments on what's been fixed? I've been looking for something like that but all I came up with were changelogs for the major point releases. Sorry for pushing this. But I have to ask: is this the correct thread to post my problem 'report'? I realize this is not a top priority problem but maybe it has been overlooked among all these other posts here? And if it's something nobody else is interested in I can live with that. I would just like to know. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.9 Problems/Bugs
Hi. I have a problem with compilations and artists/album artist tag in *iPeng* that may be caused by the server (more information & screenshot 'here' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103494-Compilation-Tag-causing-Artist-Album-Artist-problems=845826#post845826)): compilations feature tracks where instead of the artist tag the album artist (Various Artists) is shown. I've seen this in iPeng using the latest LMS 7.9 on *Mac* and *Linux* (Raspberry Pi) (don't have a Windows machine to test it). >From what I gather, it's supposed to be a problem that needs to be fixed on the server side because the tags sent over CLI differ from the ones used in server-side generated GUI menus (like the ones used by SqueezePad). I would be glad if you could look into it. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Compilation Tag causing Artist/Album Artist problems
However all those bugs may be related, I was really only talking about the Various-Artists-randomly-replacing-Artist-tag-in-compilations-in-iPeng bug (as shown in the quoted screenshot). I have done some further testing. Set up a test Linux LMS on a Raspberry Pi and the problem in iPeng is the same: compilations still feature (seemingly) random tracks where instead of the artist tag the album artist (Various Artists) is shown. >From what I gather, it's supposed to be a problem that needs to be fixed on the server side because the tags sent over CLI differ from the ones used in server-side GUI menus (like the ones used by SqueezePad). I'll also post a note in the LMS7.9 bug thread. Hopefully someone with the necessary skills and time will fix this. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103494 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

I have the exact same problem as the thread starter quoted above. I'm using iPeng 9 and LMS 7.9 (1455360998) on a *Mac* . afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103494 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
