What is anger and why does it happen? 

Anger is a response to someone who does not do what you want them to do, or who 
does do what you do not want them to do. That someone could be one individual 
or a group of individuals. It could also be something, where a certain 
situation has not happened the way you wanted, needed or expected it to. As we 
watch the world events we become angry at the actions of one nation towards 
another, one group towards another, a few towards many, and many towards one 
etc. 

This is because a) we are attached to the way things are 

b) we identify with the pain experienced by one side and feel that pain 
ourselves (in fact we create it in sympathy) and our response is to become 
upset. 

Anger is the emotion. What we do not see and realize is that we only hurt 
ourselves, and we cannot help others who are suffering from their own anger, 
when we ourselves create anger in response.

Once upon a time a very strong woodcutter asked for a job with a timber 
merchant, and he got it. His salary was really good and so were the working 
conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best. 

His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to fell 
the trees. The first day, the woodcutter brought down 15 trees.

" Congratulations," the boss said. " Carry on with your work!"

Highly motivated by the words of his boss, the woodcutter tried harder the next 
day, but he only could bring 10 trees down. The third day he tried even harder, 
but he was only able to bring down 7 trees.

Day after day he was bringing lesser number of trees down.

" I must be losing my strength", the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss 
and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on.

" When was the last time you sharpened your axe?" the boss asked.
" Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut 
trees..."

 

That's right. Most of us NEVER update our skills. We think that whatever we 
have learned is very much enough. But good is not good when better is expected.

Muslim Woman Delivers Baby At Hindu Temple After Being Thrown Out Of Taxi

In an incident straight out of a Bollywood script, a distressed Muslim woman in 
labor and her husband had to deliver their baby at a Hindu temple dedicated to 
the elephant-headed god Ganesh.

Mumbai-based Ilyaz Shaikh, 27, and his 24-year-old wife Noor Jahan were on 
their way to the Sion Hospital at dawn on Thursday, when Noor Jahan went into 
labor. According to a report in the  

 Mid Day, the taxi driver Salim Shaikh asked them to get out when he heard Noor 
Jahan screaming in pain, as he did not want her to have the baby in his vehicle.

“We were so worried. My wife was close to delivering the baby and all we could 
see was a Ganpati mandir. As soon as we got down outside the temple, some 
women, who were sitting in the verandah of the mandir, rushed to help us. We 
didn’t even have to ask,” Ilyaz, an embroidery worker, told Mid Day. Ganpati is 
another name used for the Hindu god, Ganesh.

The women in the Ganpati temple in Wadala who  

 had gathered there to pray early in the morning, prepared a make-shift 
delivery room with saris and bedsheets borrowed from nearby homes, for Noor 
Jahan who was in the throws of labor by then.

After all the tension and suspense, Noor Jahan delivered a healthy baby boy. 
Reportedly, she even cut the umbilical chord herself. "After that, I was called 
in to see the face of my son," Ilyaz added.

“I was tense when I was close to delivering in the middle of the road. But when 
I saw that there was a temple, I realied that God himself is watching over us. 
What could be better than giving birth in front of Lord Ganpati," Noor Jahaan 
told Mid Day.

The couple, happy that their son was born safe and sound, decided to name him 
Ganesh. They would install Lord Ganesh idol in their home to offer daily 
worship and prayers. Police have arrested taxi driver Salim accusing him of 
putting life of Noor Jahan in danger.

Is there a best time to sleep? There is a saying that sleeping early and waking 
up early is good for your health. How true is that? Is it alright to sleep late 
and wake up late?

You actually have an amazing biological clock ticking inside your body. It is 
very precise. It helps to regulate your various body functions including your 
sleeping time.

>From 11pm to 3am, most of your blood circulation concentrates in your liver. 
>Your liver gets larger when filled with more blood. This is an important time

However if you don't sleep at this time, your liver cannot carry out this

1. Poverty.

  
 

Even though China is the world's most populous country, at over 1.35 billion 
people, it still has some secrets it doesn't want us to know. But we dug some 
of them up just for you!

For instance, despite the fact that the US borrows a lot of money from China, a 
lot of it's population is still living in utter poverty. In fact, about 100 
million people in China are surviving on less than $1 a day, which works out to 
less than $365 a year! And nearly 400 million people live on less than $2 a day!

 

2. Death Penalty. 

  
 

In 2005, China executed more than 4 times as many convicts as the rest of the 
world combined. That works out to over 1,770 executions, most of them done by 
firing squad.

 

3. Air Pollution. 

  
 

China's air pollution is so bad from its rapid industrial growth that many 
people wear masks outside just to be able to breathe. But their problems aren't 
limited to their own country. Due to the jetstream carrying their air over to 
the United States, much of that pollution has traveled to northern California. 
In fact, about a third of the air pollution in San Francisco comes from China!

 

4. Reincarnation.

  
 

The Chinese government has actually banned Buddhist monks from reincarnating. 
That is, unless they get permission from the government first. In reality, what 
seems ridiculous is actually a move to limit the influence of the Dalai Lama.

 

5. Empty Mall.

  
 

China can proudly boast that it has the world's largest mall, the New South 
China Mall, with space for 2,350 stores and 7,000,000 square feet of leasable 
space! The only problem is that 7 years after it opened it is still 99% empty. 
The only things actually in the mall are a few fast food stores near the 
entrance.

 

6. Blocked Sites. 

  
 

Facebook and Twitter have been blocked sites in China since 2009 and The New 
York Times has been blocked since a 2012 article didn't please the government. 
They are going to lift the ban in what is called the Shanghai Free Trade zone 
soon but it is more of a business decision than anything else.

 

7. Cave Dwellers.

  
 

About 35 million people in China still live in caves. Most of these live in the 
Shaanxi province where the porous soil makes the caves easy to dig.  They are 
often decorated or reinforced with bricks.

 

8. Water Contamination.

  
 

About 700 million Chinese people, or about half of their population, drink 
contaminated water every day. One of the biggest reasons is that only about 10 
percent of the raw sewage produced by the big cities is treated and the rest is 
dumped straight into lakes and rivers where it leaks into ground water

 

9. Time Zones.

  
 

Back in 1949, China's Communist regime decided that, even though the country is 
huge, in order to assert more control it all needed to be under the same time 
zone, Beijing Standard Time. This has led to ridiculous sunrise times such as 
10am in certain parts of the country.

 

10. Piracy.

  
 

78% of the software installed on computers in China in 2010 was pirated. That 
is a really high number no matter how you look at it. Globally, the average 
piracy rate is still quite high at 42%, but it is almost twice that in China.

 

11. Birth Defects.

  
 

Birth defects are actually increasing in China by a rate of 40% since 2001. 
About 1.2 million babies are born in China every year with a birth defect, or 
about one every 30 seconds.

 

12.  Christianity.

  
 

When you think of religion in China, probably the last thing that comes to mind 
is Christianity. But what is really surprising is that China has a booming 
Christian population of about 54 million people and growing. Soon they will 
have the largest Christian population in the world! They already have more 
Christians than Italy!

Wife 1: I had a fine evening, how was yours???

 

Wife 2 : It was a disaster. My husband came home, ate his dinner in 3 mins  
fell asleep in 2 mins. How was yours?

 

Wife 1 : Oh mine was amazing ! My husband came home and took me out for a 
romantic dinner.  After dinner we walked for an hour. When we came home he 
lit the candles around the house. It was like a fairy tale !

 

At the same time, their husbands are talking at work..

 

Husband 1: How was your evening?

 

Husband 2: Great. I came home, dinner was on the table, I ate  fell asleep. 
What about you ?

 

Husband 1: It was horrible. I came home, there's no dinner, they cut the 
electricity because I forgot to pay the bill; so I took her out for dinner 
which was so expensive that didn't have money left for a cab or auto.We walked 
home which took an hour  when we got home I remembered there was no 
electricity so I had to light candles all over the house !!



  MORAL: PRESENTATION DOES MATTER... NO MATTER WHAT THE REALITY IS !!!  J

I was waiting in line for a ride at the airport. When a cab pulled up, the 
first thing I noticed was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine. Smartly 
dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and freshly pressed black slacks, the cab 
driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for me.

He handed me a laminated card and said: 'I'm Wasu, your driver. While I'm 
loading your bags in the trunk I'd like you to read my mission statement.'

Taken aback, I read the card. It said: Wasu's Mission Statement:
To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest 
way possible in a friendly environment.

This blew me away. Especially when I noticed that the inside of the cab matched 
the outside. Spotlessly clean!

As he slid behind the wheel, Wasu said, 'Would you like a cup of coffee? I have 
a thermos of regular and one of decaf.'

I said jokingly, 'No, I'd prefer a soft drink.'

Wasu smiled and said, 'No problem. I have a cooler up front with regular and 
Diet Coke, lassi, water and orange juice.'

Almost stuttering, I said, 'I'll take a Lassi.'

Handing me my drink, Wasu said, 'If you'd like something to read, I have The 
Hindu, Times  of India, ET and India Today.'

As they were pulling away, Wasu handed me another laminated card, 'These are 
the stations I get and the music they play, if you'd like to listen to the 
radio.'

And as if that weren't enough, Wasu told me that he had the air conditioning on 
and asked if the temperature was comfortable for him.

Then he advised me of the best route to my destination for that time of day. He 
also let me know that he'd be happy to chat and tell me about some of the 
sights or, if I preferred, to leave me with my own thoughts.

'Tell me, Wasu,' I was amazed and asked him, 'have you always served customers 
like this?'

Wasu smiled into the rear view mirror. 'No, not always. In fact, it's only been 
in the last two years. My first five years driving, I  spent most of my time 
complaining like all the rest of the cabbies do. Then I heard about power of 
choice one day.'

'Power of choice is that you can be a duck or an eagle.'

'If you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad day, you'll rarely 
disappoint yourself. Stop complaining!' 

'Don't be a duck. Be an eagle. Ducks quack and complain. Eagles soar above the 
crowd.'

'That hit me right,' said Wasu. 

'It is about me. I was always quacking and complaining, so I decided to change 
my attitude and become an eagle. I looked around at the other cabs and their 
drivers. The cabs were dirty, the drivers were
unfriendly, and the customers were unhappy. So I decided to make some changes. 
I put in a few at a time. When my customers responded well, I did more.'

'I take it that has paid off for you,' I said.

'It sure has,' Wasu replied. 'My first year as an eagle, I doubled my income 
from the previous year. This year I'll probably quadruple it. My customers call 
me for appointments on my cell phone or leave a message on it.'

Wasu made a different choice. He decided to stop quacking like ducks and start 
soaring like eagles.

Have an eagle life..??

9)  9 Kalasas on the Golden Roof represent the 9 types of Sakthi or
Energies. 

The 6 pillars at the Artha Mantapa represent the 6 types of Sashtras.  

The 18 pillars in the adjacant Mantapa represents 18 Puranams.

a land where Jews were welcome and never persecuted in its history, than its 
India where Jews have lived for centuries. (Note: This is true; when Israel's 
very first parliament formed after its formation the very first resolution they 
passed was to thank India). 

Similarly when the Parsis (Zorastrian fire worshippers) arrived in India in 7th 
century (Note: They were driven out of Persia by invading Muslim armies) they 
arrived in the coast of Gujarat in India and they were welcomed by the local 
Hindu King. They informed the King that they had brought their God (sacred 
fire) with them and wish to build a temple, but requested of him that no 
non-Persian should be within a 50 km radius of their fire God. The Hindu King 
answered that that will not be a problem even though the request was was 
against the Hindu practice of not excluding any of his own people from any 
house of worship. He not only settled them but built them a fire temple and 
honored their request by barring locals from going near that temple. So this 
kind of belief system is only prevalent in India where due to the Hindu 
religion we welcome all other faiths. 

Other faiths follow a 'holier than thou' philosophy which says that my god is 
the only truth and other beliefs and faiths are beneath mine. That philosophy 
has lead to human conflicts and in extremity lead to terrorism and violence. 
Its only a Hindu who incorporates all faiths within his belief and in fact 
tells followers of other faiths to follow their own faith honestly as the Hindu 
does not feel threatened by it as he considers it to be all part of the same 
goal. 

So this question only shows a lack of understanding of the culture and kind of 
tradition and heritage we come from.

 This happened at a New York Airport. This is hilarious. An award should go to 
the United Airlines gate agent in New York for being smart and funny, while 
making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly 
as cargo.  For all of you out there who have had to deal with an irate 
customer, this one is for you.
 
A crowded United Airlines flight was canceled. 

 A single agent was rebooking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. 
 
Suddenly, an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket 
on the counter and said, I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST 
CLASS.
 
The agent replied, I'm sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've 
got to help these folks first; and then I'm sure we'll be able to work 
something out.
 
The passenger was unimpressed. 

 He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, DO YOU HAVE 
ANY IDEA WHO I AM?
 
Without hesitating, the agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone. 

 May I have your attention, please?, she began, her voice heard clearly 
throughout the terminal. We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW 
WHO HE IS.  If anyone can help him with his identity, please come to Gate 14. 

  With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at 
the United Airlines agent, gritted his teeth, and said, F*** You! 

  Without flinching, she smiled and said, I'm sorry sir, you'll have to get in 
line for that, too.

1. Defence Ministry approved fast-track road building along the disputed border 
with China.

2. New 50 posts will be established in strategic position of Indo-China Border.

3. $2 billion extension to the Karwar Naval base in the southern state of 
Karnataka.The base is intended to take the load off Mumbai port, used by the 
navy and civilian ships.

4. Approved a Radar station in the Andaman and Nicobar islands in the Bay of 
Bengal to keep an eye on China's evil designs.

5. Radars and telecommunications projects within 100 km (62 miles) of the 
4,000-km (2,500-mile) border with China, large parts of which are disputed, 
will be put on an automatic approval list.

6. Govt. Approved a long-stalled proposal to raise the height of the Narmada 
dam to 138.73 metres (455 feet), from 121.92 metres (400 feet), so more water 
will be available for drinking, irrigation and power generation.

7. In another significant move, the government has decided not to hike the 
prices of LPG cylinders. Also, the cap on the number of subsidised LPG 
cylinders will remain unchanged at 12 per year.

8. In a significant development, the Modi government has decided to make X-Ray, 
MRI and CT scans free of cost for the poor at government hospitals.

9. The Government plans to plant 200 crore trees along the entire 1 lakh km 
National Highways network across the country to employ jobless youth. A similar 
scheme could be implemented under MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural 
Employment Gurantee Act) along the village and district roads and state 
highways. That has the potential to employ 30 lakh youth.

10. Moving ahead with its plans of creating a broadband highway across the 
country, the inter-ministerial telecom commission approved a revised strategy 
for kickstarting the ambitious National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) that plans 
to provide broadband connectivity to 2.5 lakh gram panchayats through nearly 6 
lakh km of optic fibre by March, 2017.

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in 
the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right 
in front of us. Taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the 
other car by just inches!

The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. 
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy and I mean he was really 
friendly. 
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy could almost ruin your car and 
sent us to the hospital!'

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage 
Truck.' 
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of 
garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. 
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll 
dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, 
and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at 
home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over 
their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so, love the people 
who treat you right and pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a garbage-free Life.

towards you is like looking into a badly fractured mirror and then blaming
yourself for the shattered image that you see there.

 

Let Go of Self-Recrimination

The self-defeating desires that drag us around belong to a nature that
always feels incomplete. Nothing this false self tells us to do does one
thing to loosen its hold on us. Fighting with it -- as we have done in the
past -- only slays half the foe, while giving in to it leads nowhere but
to more self-recrimination. This torment, and all other suffering associated
with its kind, is needless. There's only one thing actually wrecking us: we
keep believing in -- and then acting on -- false promises made to us by a
false nature. This is why whenever we suddenly feel incomplete -- in some
way, inadequate -- we must stop trying to do something about this unwanted
sense of self, and choose instead to see the parts of us that want us to
identify with that feeling. Choosing this new kind of watchfulness is the
seed of a new beginning. Rather than go along with the old willfulness that
seeks instant gratification, it is we who take hold of our own attention and
place it where we wish it held... on what is already whole and complete
within us. But this spiritual step is only our first action to be taken.

As soon as we are centered in this healing remembrance -- even if we do not
yet feel the Good we call upon come into us -- we must still give ourselves
to it, surrender our self completely into what is already complete within us
-- even if this act of giving is just to our hope for a wholeness yet to be
known. This is the true enactment of our new understanding: We don't just
want to let go and let God; we now know that we need to, because we've
seen what happens when we hold onto what's hurting us.

As the new millennium approached, the buzz about the end of the world and 
impending catastrophe raised great panic in the West. People had gone paranoid 
selling their homes and hoarding groceries and I was travelling from coast to 
coast assuring them that no such thing would happen. Thankfully the World did 
not disappear and it was business as usual!

In August, 2000, I was in New York City to address the UN Millennium World 
Peace Summit, which opened with an address by the UN Secretary General Kofi 
Anan. A huge contingent from the Indian subcontinent was present. Perhaps for 
the first time a large number of saffron clad swamis had come to a UN summit.

The speeches had been live translated in many languages, but not Hindi. Many of 
the swamis and acharyas could hardly understand the proceedings. There was 
palpable frustration and disappointment in the group. At that moment, I felt 
that we had far better organizational skills and the potential to do much 
bigger events.

The speakers were given five minutes each. I finished my speech in four. 
Satyanarayan Goenkaji was to speak after me. He went on speaking beyond the 
stipulated time. The warning bell rang – once, twice, thrice, yet he continued. 
Eventually, he had to be stopped and taken away from the podium, causing an 
embarrassment to the Indian contingent.

After the summit, we were sitting in the lobby. A man in a blue Safari suit was 
sitting right across me. Goenkaji was seated next to him, complaining that he 
flew all the way for 18 hours, and was not even given half an hour to speak.  
After a while, Dr B K Modi, the Coordinator for the Indian subcontinent for the 
Millennium World Peace Summit, introduced the man in blue safari as Sri 
Narendra Modi, an RSS pracharak. Narendra Modi greeted me and said, “Your 
speech was short and to the point and everyone appreciated it.” I was not sure 
if he was complimenting me or giving a subtle message about what had happened 
earlier in the day. I smiled and moved away.  This was my first encounter with 
Narendra Modi.

In December, 2001, a few months after Modi became the Chief Minister of 
Gujarat, I received a phone call from Mehul, one of our coordinators in 
Ahmedabad. He told me that a reliable source had informed him of a riot being 
planned to create trouble for the new Modi government. The riots broke out in 
February, 2002 and numbed the nation into grief, sorrow and distrust. Nobody 
could and should condone the scale of violence that took place following the 
burning of karsevaks in a train.

Soon after the riots, the Art of Living volunteers started trauma care 
activities in relief camps. I visited many camps in Ahmedabad including the 
Shah Alam Camp. I listened to the plight of the victims from both the 
communities. It was a horror story laced with overflowing emotions and 
victim-hood. I came back to Bangalore without meeting the Chief Minister and we 
continued our relief efforts for many months.

I met prominent people on both sides to keep the interfaith dialogue going. A 
few people alleged that Sangh Pariwar had set their own people on fire in the 
train to create an excuse to attack the minorities. I disagreed.

It was in these sombre settings that I met Narendra Modi for the second time. I 
visited Gujarat again in 2004. By then, the battle lines were clearly drawn. 
Modi had become a pariah. Bashing him had become a fashion. People who differed 
even slightly with this trend were branded communal or belonging to RSS and VHP.

I decided to confront him directly. As soon as we settled down for our meeting, 
I looked into his eyes and asked him, “Did you do all that was in your capacity 
to stop these riots?” The directness of my question surprised him. After 
regaining his composure, he replied with moist eyes, “Guruji, do you also 
believe in this propaganda?”

Nothing much was spoken after that. I knew he could not have played a role in 
the riots. Why would a chief minister paint his face black and destroy his own 
reputation? It didn’t make any sense. We sat in silence for few minutes. I 
assured him that the truth was on his side and one day the whole nation would

women are altering the position of their feet and how the feet should
function.

Problems associated with heels: 

A common problem is the formation of unsightly calluses and painful corns,
which are those hard nuggets of keratin buildup caused by pressure on the
skin.

High heels squeeze your toes and cause capsulitis - an agonising
inflammation of the joints where the toes attach to the foot and cause
pinched nerves.

Women who habitually wear high heels have an increased chance of suffering
from Achilles tendonitis, which is caused by extra stretching of the
Achilles tendon when you remove your shoes and the heel comes down to the
floor.

High heels are also known to cause inflammation of the connective tissue at
the bottom of the foot - the plantar fascia.

When you wear heels above three inches, your foot slides forward, cramming
your toes and redistributing your weight incorrectly. This weight on your
toes causes the body to tilt forward, and to balance, one tends to lean
backwards, and ends up overarching the back.

This creates an incorrect posture that puts strain on the knees, hips, and
lower back. This can put pressure on your nerves in the back and can cause a
condition called sciatica, where the nerves become trapped and a numbing
pain travels all the way to the feet.

The emotion shared between a father and daughter is indeed a unique one
where often the daughter considers her father to be the ultimate man
imbibing every aspect which other male members in her life should possess.
Thus the Father is often treated as the real Hero. On the other hand fathers
always consider their daughters as little angels on earth. Thus the
treatment towards each is other is indeed unique and adorable. Continue
reading to find out more about the emotions exchanged between that of a
father and a daughter.

 

A flower is born ushering in loads of joy - is how the birth of a daughter
affects a father. Right from childhood, a daughter looks up to her father as
the hero. She idol worships him, looking in him the confident, sturdy and
perfect gentleman. The father also enjoys the attention and faith a daughter
renders.

Between father and son, often egotism acts as a deterrent to the perfect
bonding. But with a daughter, the macho-ism of the father is nurtured and
nothing works better for a man to feel like a man.

Under his perfect guidance, a father transforms a bud into a fully blossomed
flower. His daughter turns into a woman with enough self-radiance to face
the world and she does that with aplomb. For this, communication between
father and daughter is quintessential.




DAD-DAUGHTER COMMUNICATION


 

(I) LISTENING - Fathers should listen to their daughters. They should pay
attention even in the most ordinary moments. This is because a daughter's
voice is the conduit to her heart and soul. When she starts speaking,
metaphorically and literally, she feels safer and more secure.  


Daughters should also not hesitate when speaking their heart out to their
fathers, especially if it pertains to the opposite sex. Your father will be
the best guide for seeing you through such situations. You should also
listen to your father's problems if you ever see him struggling with
something. Your tender and understanding nature is sure to cheer him up.

(II) PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS - 

 

Then a daughter shares any kind of problem with their fathers, the latter
should always ask whether he should offer advice or just listen. That way,
the daughters tend to be more open minded and accept advice from their
fathers. As with all kinds of parenting, there are no guarantees of
outcomes. But one should be satisfied knowing he has made a difference in
his daughter's life. Daughters should confidently share their problems
knowing that Dad will not only listen intently, but will also help in
summing up a solution. A father's problems are much more serious but women,
being a lot more mature at a younger age, are able to tackle most of the
problems. They are also good listeners.




III) HONESTY -

 

In order for a daughter to be honest with her father, the latter must not
reprimand his daughter for speaking a truth which he did not want to hear.
It is not always easy speaking the truth, especially if she knows it is
something he won't like. He should praise her for the honesty before
dwelling into the subject. Daughters should remember that there can be no
better person to share the truth with than a father. Mothers usually let
emotions prevail over advice but fathers are firm.

 

(IV) OPEN COMMUNICATION -

 

Fathers must resist the urge to criticize if they expect daughters to be
open about their problems. The comments may not seem particularly harsh to
the father but it may imply something entirely different to the daughter,
depending on the situation. Listening without interruption and understanding
her point of view is ideal.


Daughters should keep in mind that whatever her father says is for her own
benefit and she must not misinterpret. Even if harsh words are exchanged,
she will find that, on pondering over her father's words, he actually meant
to help her all along.

(V) INVOLVEMENT -

 

Fathers should try to understand why his daughter is so concerned about her
body image. The underlying message women receive from society is they have
to look a certain way to attract a boy's attention. A dad counters such
destructive messages when he plays a sport with his daughter, attends her
recital, drives her to practice and cheers on her will and persistence. It
doesn't need to be an organized sport. It could be really simple from
playing catch to jumping rope or just walking the dog together.

 

Daughters should also get involved in their fathers lives and try to find
out if anything is bothering him. Try and make him say it so that he can
feel lighter. If not, comfort him to the best of your efforts.

According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD 
doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student:
Nothing. I only have my faith.

Prof:
Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.

Student:
Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Prof:
Yes.

Student:
And is there such a thing as cold?

Prof:
Yes.

No sir. There isn't.

Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white 
heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have anything called cold. We can 
hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go any further after 
that.
There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the 
absence of heat.
We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, 
just the absence of it .

What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Prof:
Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?

You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low 
light, normal light, bright light, flashing lightBut if you have no light 
constantly, you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? In reality, 
darkness isn't. If it were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't 
you?

Prof:
So what is the point you are making, young man?

Student:
Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Prof:
Flawed? Can you explain how?

Student:
Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and 
then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of 
God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even 
explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much 
less fully understood either one.To view death as the opposite of life is to be 
ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is 
not the opposite of life: just the absence of it.

Now tell me, Professor.Do you teach your students that they evolved from a 
monkey?

Prof:
If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student:
Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the 
argument is going.)

Student:
Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even 
prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your 
opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher? (The class is in uproar.)

Student:
Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain? (The 
class breaks out into laughter.)

Student:
Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched 
or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established

the first time they tried something new, then there would be approximately
zero successful people ever. There is no such thing as a hole-in-one in
life. Do you want to know how many times I've failed? Over a hundred. The
only reason I've managed to accomplish anything is because I am a firm
believer in continuous improvement. If you fail in something, distance from
the event for a day or two, because agonizing over the problem will not make
it go away (and will make it a lot worse). Read a good book, catch up with
some friends you haven't seen in a long time, or go on a nature hike. You
will be able to look at the issue with a fresh perspective. After you have
done that, ask yourself: Why didn't this work out and how can I do better
next time? This process very well could repeat itself several times
depending on the nature of your goal, but if you keep making a firm
commitment to continuously improve yourself, you will develop so much that
the only option left is success. Consistent hustle always wins.


4. The Past Is Already Written


Have you ever made a mistake so monumental that you wish you could go back
in time and do it all over again? Join the club. It's called being human. I
know you might feel immense regret, but beating yourself up over something
that is already done serves no purpose. Shift your attention to the present,

you to make mistakes. It will probably take you longer to complete two tasks
that you are switching back-and-forth between than it would to complete each
one separately. If you want to save time, instead of multitasking, try
grouping similar tasks together. Have a bunch of e-mails you need to send?

Teach Children By Example

In America and some other places, I hear children carry guns to school! I
think these children have never experienced true love and compassion.
Nowadays parents fight in front of children. What will children learn? I
request parents to shower love and affection on their children. Infants need
comfort and care even while in the cradle. Hold them close, breastfeed them
with love and tenderness. Teach them by example all that is good during
their formative years. Parents should not express anger and hatred or fight
in front of children. If they do, how is the child to learn patience and
love?

If you walk through a field of soft, green grass, it will automatically make
a path. Whereas, it would take countless trips up and down a stony hillside,
in order to wear away a trail. In the same way, a child's character and
personality can be moulded easily in their formative years. Children need
loving care, but at the same time, we should not forget to discipline them.
Instil in them love for all creation. This is possible through good value
education.

Our minds tend to become like stagnant ponds, full of dirt and sediments. In
order to clean the pond, you need infusion of fresh water as that from a
river, the river of loving kindness, a dose of pure consciousness or what we
call God, for only that kind of Grace can help clear the impurities and
restore the mind to its purity. Then we can love selflessly and live in
service. 

 

To show compassion to the suffering is our obligation. Any spiritual quest
should begin with selfless service. If you sit in meditation and expect the
third eye to open without opening your two eyes, can that happen? Be a
witness and give of yourself without expectation. We cannot close our eyes
to the world, call it spirituality and expect to become Self-realised. To
behold Unity with open eyes as you look at the world, that is
Self-realisation. 

 

When a flower has not yet blossomed, when it is still a bud, its beauty and
fragrance is not yet manifest. No one is able to appreciate or enjoy them.
But when the flower blossoms, when it unfolds in bewitching colour and form,
when its fragrance wafts through the air, it invokes joy and happiness all
around. In the same way, the flowers of our hearts have not yet blossomed.
They are still tiny buds. However, if nurtured by faith in Pure
Consciousness or God, by love and compassion and by adherence to good
principles, the buds of our hearts are bound to unfold. Revealing their
beauty and spreading their fragrance, they become truly blessings to the
world.

Religion is not limited to the words of scriptures. Religion is a way of
life. Its beauty and charm are expressed in the love and compassion of those
who live in accordance with its guidelines. But simply reading the label on
a medicine bottle will not affect a cure. You have to consume the medicine.
You cannot taste the sweetness of honey by licking a piece of paper on which
the world 'honey' is written. Likewise, the principles handed down by sages
and masters, religious texts and stories must be contemplated on, meditated
upon, and finally realised. Realisation is something to be experienced; it

3 Ways To Use Laughter To Transform Your Life

Several years ago, I was preparing for my black belt board
of review in Karate. I had affirmations on post-it notes all
over the place. Remember to Breathe, I am strong and
confident, I am a black belt, and Remember to Laugh, I
wrote the one about laughing after getting in the car one
morning and realized I had not combed my hair yet. I was
late for work and didn't have time to go back inside the
house for a comb so I grabbed the car brush, still wet with
snow, and put my hair back into place. What struck me so
funny was not only that I just used the car brush to comb my
hair, but also the fact that I was bald on top of my head.

Learn to Laugh at Yourself

Needless to say I have learned over the years to laugh at
myself. First of all, as my parents often told me, when you
laugh at yourself you steal the thunder from everyone else
who might be tempted to laugh at you. It takes practice to
see what's funny about a situation and laugh. One time, I
was in my car driving slowly through the middle of a huge
puddle in the road. I had my window down because it was very
humid in the car after the mid-summer downpour that had left
the landscape drenched with standing water everywhere. 

I looked up just in time to see an enormous vehicle speeding
toward me through the same puddle I was making my way
through. I was drenched from my head to my seatbelt as was
the inside of the car with dirty rainwater before my hand
could make it to the window control. Getting mad could have
been my first response until I realized there was nothing I
could have done to change the outcome of what happened. So,
I just laughed. The upside of things is that the inside of
the car dried out and I got a great story out of it. The
down side of the story is that the owner of the car wasn't
laughing as I related the story to him. I guess he needed to
learn to laugh more in his life, too.

Look For Humor in a Situation or Challenge

There is tremendous hope in every breath you take, and that
hope is magnified a hundredfold every time you laugh. Look
for those things that make you smile a little, chuckle some,
giggle a lot, or burst your sides from laughing so hard.
Laughter is what makes a molehill out of a mountain, a
suntan out of a sunburn, or a new you hairdo out of a bad
hair day. Laughter is what turns big things into the small
stuff. 

And honestly, as they say, it's all small stuff. Often, we miss a lot 
of the little things that present themselves as gifts that could brighten 
our day and lighten our load if we would just look a little more closely. 

You know, like the time when someone comes out of the ladies
room with a long piece of toilet paper stuck to the bottom
of her shoe and doesn't know it's there. Just laugh inside,
be glad it isn't you, and then politely point it out to her
to save her some embarrassment. Maybe she will laugh at
herself and have a great story to tell later in her day.

Laugh Ten Times a Day

As I said before, finding things to laugh at takes practice,
but it also just takes laughing. Laugh at a funny TV
commercial, or something funny someone said at work. Laugh
by yourself, laugh with your spouse, your kids, or your
friends. Make a point to laugh at least ten times a day.What
you will find is that laughter is contagious. You can catch
it from yourself. Others can catch it from you, and you can
catch it from them. Sometimes, we just start laughing by
hearing others laugh, and in my humble opinion, there is no
greater sound in the world than a child's laughter.

Just think how much better the world would be, how much
kinder and gentler our lives would be, if we just remembered
to laugh.

1.   Do not retire. If you're over-aged, retire and get all the benefits but
find another income-generating job or open a business that will keep you
active physically and mentally. Travel and bond with true friends, play a
sport, learn a new hobby and volunteer in your community or parish. Don't
loaf around. Your spouse will hate you because you've become a sloppy,
listless bum with nothing good to say about the household and things that
you never bothered about before. Solve crossword puzzles, play Scrabble,
write your memoirs, and above all, read ...this will keep you alert and keep
Alzheimer's at bay.

2. Live in your own place to enjoy independence, privacy and a solo life.If
you move in with your children, your rank or degree of importance is reduced
to that of a bed spacer who has no place of honor or, worse, like crumbling
furniture merely displayed with no added value. Might you kowtow to conform
to their own rules that are not kind, considerate or mindful of you? If you
witness your children engaged in a war of will and wits with your
grandchildren, whom will you side with? Will they even appreciate your
arbitration? Remind your children that silence is not a sign of weakness;
you are merely processing data that is taking longer to complete.

3. Hold on to your nest egg, bank deposits and assets. If you want to help
your children, do give, but not to the extent that you wipe out your life's
earnings, singing heroically not a shirt on my back nor a penny to my name.
Staying solvent and in the black is a good hedge against all kinds of
tempests. You will sleep better, you will not be afraid to express your
opinion and you will be confident about yourself.

4. Don't believe your children's promise to care for you when you grow old
priorities change. Many children are not guilt-ridden or filled with a sense
of moral obligation when the wife and offspring take top billing in their
lives. There are still children who would consider it a privilege to show
compassion, genuine love and deep concern for their parents but be warned
that not all children think alike.

5. Expand your circle of friends to include young ones who will definitely
outlive your old BFFs. Keep up with new inventions, trends, music and
lifestyle including all the scams and schemes you should guard against.
Remember that when you mix with the young, you also open a fresh avenue to
channel your thoughts, experiences and values through so that the lessons
you learned are not lost, forgotten or buried with you.

6. Be well groomed and smelling fresh of spring water all the time. There's
nothing more depressing than seeing people exhale when you walk by because
you reek of baul (camphor chest) or lupa (dirt). Old age or bust, don't look
and smell like a corpse when you're not one yet.

7. Do not meddle in the life of your children. If they ask for your counsel,
give it, but be ready to accept that they may not take it. Their situations
in life cannot be compared to the situations that you experienced in your
life. The playing field has changed and they need to develop their own set
of survival skills. If you raised them to be street smart, they can handle
themselves in tough situations and be able to read people. Champion and
encourage their dreams and desires but on their own terms.

8. Do not use old age as your shield and justification for turning grumpy.
There's nothing more annoying than an arrogant, old fool. Welcome each day
as another chance to be kind and forgiving, to yourself and to others.

9. Listen to what others may say. Do not throw your weight around just
because you are a septuagenarian or a nonagenarian. You are not a depository
of knowledge. Even if the roles have been reversed, make growing old a
fun-filled, pleasant experience for you and your brood.

10. Pray always and focus on your eternal life. You will definitely leave
everything behind, a final journey detached from burden and care. Be more
accepting that, sooner, not later, you will croak. Prepare your swan song
with a humble and contrite heart. If you believe in a merciful and loving
God, there is no need to strut like a star.

A story from Zen Buddhism

There was a robber who amassed a lot of ill-gotten wealth. One day, he went
to a teacher who had great reputation of great character and asked, ``How
can I obtain happiness? I have lots of wealth and five hundred thieves ready
to obey me but somehow I still feel incomplete and empty.''

The teacher led him to the base of a hill, and pointing to three large
stones, asked the robber to carry them and follow him up the hill. The
robber could hardly move and said, ``I cannot follow you with this heavy
burden.' So the teacher asked the robber to drop one stone. After going a
little distance, the robber found it impossible to go up the hill with two
heavy stones. The teacher asked him to drop one more and the same thing
happened with the third one and the robber was able to easily follow the
teacher to the top of the hill. The teacher said, ``Deviating from the path
of righteousness does cause a heavy conscience. Just as you could not climb
the hill with the burden of heavy stones, you cannot achieve happiness if
you go through life carrying a heavy conscience.''

 

How true. Whenever we go against our values, our conscience gets burdened.
Stress level goes up. Insecurity comes in. ignoring conscience long enough
kills it eventually making it like dead weight like the rocks in the story.
Life becomes a burden.

After the great war in Ramayana, Hanumanji submitted his T.A. Bill for his
official tour for collecting Sanjeevani Booti to Ayodhya administration. The
LDC (Lower Division Clerk) in T.A. Bill section raised 3 objections: 

(1) Hanumanji did not take prior permission of the appropriate authority
(Bharat), the King of Ayodhya, during the relevant time for his travel; 

(2) Hanumanji being Grade-D officer was not entitled to air travel; 

(3) Hanumanji was asked to bring Sanjeevani Booti, just a single plant, but
he carried a whole mountain (unauthorized excess baggage). 

The LDC returned the bill. 

King Ram could do nothing except mark it down for re-examination. 

A worried Jaambavan approached the LDC and offered a bribe of 10% of the
T.A. Bill amount. The LDC now wrote on the Bill: 

Re-examined: 

1. Even during the relevant time, Ram was the de-jure king through his
Paduka. 

2. Further in an emergency, non-entitled officers can be authorized ex-post
facto to fly. 

3. Also excess baggage is justified as bringing a wrong plant would have
entailed multiple journeys with extra cost; hence bill may be paid. 

The T.A. Bill was paid accordingly.

What impacts the quality of our life is the movement of thoughts and
feelings. More than negative experiences it is the negative interpretations
of the negative experiences that affect our life to a greater degree.

I told one lady that more than any situation it is the interpretation of the
situation that would affect our life. One should be sensitive to this
movement of thought. Recently when I was conducting a 'LIFE Programme'
workshop for a group of executives I found a lady seated in the last row
sleeping. Very gently I called her from the back to come to the front and
sit down. I did not tell her that she should not sleep during the session.
Neither was I loud or harsh in my voice. I then continued my lecture. She
was steaming innately like a pressure cooker. Gently looking at her I asked,
'It appears that you are upset by something.'

She replied in the affirmative.

I asked her, 'What is it that upsets you?'

She said, 'You insulted me.'

I told her 'I have merely summoned you from the back row to the front.
Therefore where is the insult?'

Calling her from the back row to the front was a fact. What hurt her was not
the fact but the interpretation of the fact that it was an insult. In the
same workshop another lady got up and told me, 'Had you called me over from
the back row to the front, I would have felt honoured.' The same situation
viewed by two different people are two different experiences. In another
workshop an executive got up and asked me, 'My boss has called me an idiot.
This word definitely hurts me.'

I asked him, 'Are you an idiot?'

He answered, 'I have done my Ph.D.'

So I told him, 'So you are not an idiot and hence there is nothing to be
hurt. Even if you are an idiot there would still be nothing to be hurt as it
would be a statement of a fact.'

More than facts what hurt us most is the way we look at facts. If somebody
looks at you wrongly it is the other person's problem and not yours. And
hence you have to be compassionate to his wrong perceptions.

Finally I told this lady a hurt or upset mind, whether justified or not
justified, is self damaging. So do not allow disturbing thoughts to control
and ruin your life.

It is our essential need that we train our younger to be good presenters .

A Wise Counting.
 

Emperor Akbar was in the habit of putting riddles and puzzles to his
courtiers. 

He often asked questions which were strange and witty. It took much wisdom
to answer these questions.
Once he asked a very strange question. The courtiers were dumb folded by his
question.
Akbar glanced at his courtiers. As he looked, one by one the heads began to
hang low in search of an answer.

It was at this moment that Birbal entered the courtyard. 

Birbal who knew the nature of the emperor quickly grasped the situation and
asked, 

May I know the question so that I can try for an answer.
Akbar said, How many crows are there in this city?
Without even a moment's thought, 

Birbal replied There are fifty thousand five hundred and eighty nine crows,
my lord.
How can you be so sure? asked Akbar.
Birbal said, Make you men count, My lord. 

If you find more crows it means some have come to visit their relatives
here. 

If you find less number of crows it means some have gone to visit their
relatives elsewhere.
Akbar was pleased very much by Birbal's answer . 

Though the answer is obviously wrong the way it is presented makes it better
than any other answers.

A Swami was having a conversation with Lord Shiva one day and said..

'Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.

Lord Shiva led the Swami to two doors.


He opened one of the doors and the Swami looked in. In the middle of the
room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of
stew, which smelled delicious and made the Swami's mouth water.   The people
sitting! around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be
famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped
to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and
take a spoonful.

But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the
spoons back into their mouths.

The Swami shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

Lord Shiva said, 'You have seen Hell.

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as
the first one There was the large round table with the large pot of stew
which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the
same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump,
laughing and talking. The Swami said, 'I don't understand.'

'It is simple,' said Lord Shiva.

'It requires but one skill. You see they have learned to feed each other,
while the greedy think only of themselves..'

Life after retirement : 

Many people feel unhappy, health-wise and security-wise, after 60 years of
age, owing to the diminishing importance given to them and their opinions.
But, it need not be so, if only we understand the basic principles of life
and follow them scrupulously.


 

Here are ten mantras to age gracefully and make life after retirement
pleasant.

 

1. Never say 'I am aged' : There are three ages, chronological, ,biological,
and psychological. The first is calculated based on our date of birth; the
second is determined by the health conditions; the third is how old we feel
we are. While we don't have control over the first, we can take care of our
health with good diet, exercise and a cheerful attitude. A positive attitude
and optimistic thinking can reverse the third age.
 
2. Health is wealth: If you really love your kith and kin, taking care of
your health should be your priority. Thus, you will not be a burden to them.
Have an annual health check-up and take the prescribed medicines regularly.
Do take health insurance coverage.


3. Money is important: Money is essential for meeting the basic necessities
of life, keeping good health and earning family respect and security. Don't
spend beyond your means even for your children. You have lived for them all
through and it is time you enjoyed a harmonious life with your spouse. If
your children are grateful and they take care of you, you are blessed. But,
never take it for granted.


4. Relaxation and recreation: The most relaxing and recreating forces are a
healthy religious attitude, good sleep, music and laughter. Have faith in
God, learn to sleep well, love good music and see the funny side of life.

5. Time is precious: It is almost like holding a horses' reins. When they
are in your hands, you can control them. Imagine that every day you are born
again. Yesterday is a cancelled cheque. Tomorrow is a promissory note.Today
is ready cash - use it profitably. Live this moment; live it fully, now, in
the present time.

6. Change is the only permanent thing: We should accept change - it is
inevitable. The only way to make sense out of change is to join in the
dance. Change has brought about many pleasant things. We should be happy
that our children are blessed.

7. Enlightened selfishness: All of us are basically selfish. Whatever we do,
we expect something in return. We should definitely be grateful to those who
stood by us. But, our focus should be on the internal satisfaction and the
happiness we derive by doing good for others, without expecting anything in
return. Perform a random act of kindness daily.

 


8. Forget and forgive: Don't be bothered too much about others' mistakes. We
are not spiritual enough to show our other cheek when we are slapped in one.
But for the sake of our own health and happiness, let us forgive and forget
them. Otherwise, we will be only increasing our blood pressure.


9. Everything has a purpose: Take life as it comes. Accept yourself as you
are and also accept others for what they are. Everybody is unique and is
right in his own way.
 
10. Overcome the fear of death: We all know that one day we have to leave
this world. Still we are afraid of death. We think that our spouse and
children will be unable to withstand our loss. But the truth is no one is
going to die for you; they may be depressed for some time. Time heals
everything and they will go on.

King Solomon was wise and powerful beyond measure. But one day he said to
his advisors 'I am too depressed in my life,'. 'When everything goes my way,
I am afraid that it can't last. When things do not, I fear that my woes will
never end. I have had a dream that there is a ring that contains the
knowledge to give me peace of mind. Go and find that ring for me. I wish to
have it by Succoth, six months from now. 

His advisors searched the world over, each asking for this powerful ring
that would bring the king peace of mind. They went to the finest jewelers,
the richest lands. 

Finally, Succoth approached. The advisors gave up. No one had ever heard of
such a magical ring. 

Except the youngest advisor, who found himself walking restlessly through
Jerusalem all through the night. As morning dawned, he found he was in a
very poor district. An old man was setting up his simple jewelry and
trinkets for sale. In one last desperate attempt, the advisor described the
ring. The old man thought for a while. He took out a simple plain ring and
began to engrave something on it. Then handed it to the advisor. As he read
the script his heart leapt with joy. 'This is it!' 

That evening at the Succoth feast, the king asked if they'd found the ring.
'We have,' spoke the youngest. He came forward and place the ring on the
king's finger. The king looked at the ring and read the Hebrew words
engraved there: Gam Zeh Ya'avor. ''This too, shall pass.' As he read, the
king's sorrows turned to joy, and his joys to sorrow, and then both gave way
to peace. The king was reminded in that moment that all his riches and glory
were impermanent, and all his sorrows would pass away as the seasons and the
years. 

Nothing is permanent. Everything is temporary including our own very
existence! Every moment brings you happiness or sorrow. Every stroke with
the brush on our canvas of life either leads us to happiness or sorrow. Yet
all us struggle to paint a permanent picture without realizing the
impermanence of life here on earth. Let us understand, since there is no
permanent happiness in life; there is also no permanent sorrow. Just as
every valley is followed by a mountain and every day followed by night.
Understand the dynamics of life and live life to the fullest. Wear the ring
of peace of mind. All of us are borne with that ring which gives
tranquility and peace of mind in life. But sadly, many of us do not wear it
when it is needed. we keep the ring safely in the locker lest we lose it.
Lets wear it. May you be blessed with peace of mind all through your life
with the mantra that This Too Shall Pass Away!.

Jiddu Krishnamurti on anger

Questioner: When I love a person and he gets angry, why is his anger so
intense?

Krishnamurti: First of all, do you love anybody? Do you know what it is to
love? It is to give completely your mind your heart, your whole being and
not ask a thing in return not put out a begging bowl to receive love. Do you
understand? When there is that kind of love, is there anger? And why do we
get angry when we love somebody with the ordinary, so-called love? It is
because we are not getting something we expect from that person, is it not?
I love my wife or husband, my son or daughter, but the moment they do
something `wrong' I get angry. Why?

Why does the father get angry with his son or daughter? Because he wants the
child to be or do something, to fit into a certain pattern, and the child
rebels. Parents try to fulfil, to immortalize themselves through their
property, through their children and, when the child does something of which
they disapprove, they get violently angry. They have an ideal of what the
child should be, and through that ideal they are ful- filling themselves;
and they get angry when the child does not fit into the pattern which is
their fulfilment.

Have you noticed how angry you sometimes get with a friend of yours? It is
the same process going on. You are expecting something from him, and when
that expectation is not fulfilled you are disappointed - which means,
really, that inwardly, psychologically you are depending on that person. So
wherever there is psychological dependence, there must be frustration; and
frustration inevitably breeds anger, bitterness, jealousy, and various other
forms of conflict. That is why it is very important, especially while you
are young, to love something with your whole being - a tree, an animal, your
teacher, your parent - for then you will find out for yourself what it is to
be without conflict, without fear.

But you see, the educator is generally concerned about himself, he is caught
up in his personal worries about his family, his money, his position. He has
no love in his heart, and this is one of the difficulties in education. You
may have love in your heart, because to love is a natural thing when one is
young; but it is soon destroyed by the parents, by the educator, by the
social environment. To maintain that innocence, that love which is the
perfume of life, is extraordinarily arduous; it requires a great deal of
intelligence, insight.

Questioner: How can the mind go beyond its hindrances?

Krishnamurti: To go beyond its hindrances, the mind must first be aware of
them, must it not? You must know the limitations, the boundaries, the
frontiers of your own mind; but very few of us know them. We say that we do,

bondage within me, and I want to understand it; therefore I am going to be
cognizant of it, see how it came into being and the whole nature of it. If
one knows what the disease is, there is a possibility of curing it. But to
know the disease, to know the particular limitation, bondage or hindrance of
the mind, and to understand it, one must not condemn it, one must not say it
is right or wrong. One must observe it without having an opinion, a
prejudice about it - which is extraordinarily difficult, because we are
brought up to condemn.

To understand a child, there must be no condemnation. To condemn him has no
meaning. You have to watch him when he is playing, crying, eating, you have
to observe him in all his moods; but you cannot do this if you say he is
ugly, he is stupid, he is this or that. Similarly, if one can watch the
hindrances of the mind, not only the superficial hindrances but also the
deeper hindrances in the unconscious - watch them without condemnation -
then the mind can go beyond them; and that very going beyond is a movement
towards truth.

Questioner: Why has God created so many men and women in the world?

A Swami was having a conversation with Lord Shiva one day and said..

'Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.

Lord Shiva led the Swami to two doors.


He opened one of the doors and the Swami looked in. In the middle of the
room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of
stew, which smelled delicious and made the Swami's mouth water.   The people
sitting! around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be
famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped
to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and
take a spoonful.

But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the
spoons back into their mouths.

The Swami shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

Lord Shiva said, 'You have seen Hell.

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as
the first one There was the large round table with the large pot of stew
which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the
same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump,
laughing and talking. The Swami said, 'I don't understand.'

'It is simple,' said Lord Shiva.

'It requires but one skill. You see they have learned to feed each other,

Public Provident Fund (PPF) is a scheme of the Central Government, framed under

It is today the most popular investment made by Indian citizens. If you are 
keen on a safe investment, a decent rate of return, tax benefits (deduction and 
tax free interest) and have a long term investment horizon, then the PPF is for 
you. It is a disciplined investment avenue as your money is blocked for 15 
years. 

2. How do I open a PPF account? What should I keep in mind when opening my PPF 
account? 

Head over to your nearest State Bank of India branch, or a branch of any of 
State Bank’s subsidiaries. You can also open an account in select nationalized 
banks, and the post office. Fill in the form, attach a photograph, state your 
PAN Number, and you’re done. Once your formalities are completed, you will 
receive a pass book which will record all your PPF transactions.

At any point in your life, you are allowed to have only 1 PPF account in your 
name. You can also have an account in the name of a minor child of whom you are 
the parent / guardian. However that will be the child’s account, you will 
simply be the guardian. You can never have a joint account. 

If at any time it is seen that you have more than 1 account in your own name, 
the second account will be deactivated, and only your principal will be 
returned to you. 

If you have a General provident Fund account, or an Employees Provident Fund 
account, you can still have a PPF account – there is no restriction.

3. Can an NRI open a PPF account? 

The rule of 25th July, 2003 states that ‘Non Resident Indians are not eligible 
to open an account under the PPF Scheme’. However ‘Provided that if a resident 
who subsequently becomes a Non Resident during the currency of the maturity 
period prescribed under the PPF scheme may continue to subscribe to the Fund 
till its maturity, on a Non Repatriation Basis.’ 
So if you open it as an RI, and during the 15 year tenure become an NRI, you 
can continue to invest, but on a non-repatriable basis.

4. When is the best time to invest in

The best time to invest is between the 1st and the 5th of any month, preferably 
April each year. Interest is calculated for the calendar month on the lowest 
balance at credit of your account, between the close of the 5th day and the end 
of the month, and is credited at the end of every year.

5. Is a Loan against PPF account allowed? 

Yes loan facility is available against a PPF account. The first loan can be 
taken in the third year of opening the account i.e., if the account is opened 
during the year 2010-11, the first loan can be taken during the year 2012-2013. 
The loan amount will be restricted to 25% of the balance including interest for 
the year 2010-11 in the account as on 31/3/2011. The loan must be repaid in a 
maximum of 36 EMIs. You can take a second loan against your PPF account before 
the end of your sixth financial year, but your second loan can be taken only 
once your first loan is fully settled. 

6. Are withdrawals from PPF account allowed?

Any time after the expiry of the 5th year from the date that the initial 
subscription is made, you become eligible to withdraw an amount of not more 
than 50% of the previous year’s balance or of the 4th year immediately 
preceding the year of withdrawal, whichever is less. If you have taken any loan 
on your PPF, this also gets factored in and reduces your balance. You cannot 
make more than a single withdrawal in the year. You need to apply with Form C 
for any withdrawals.

7. What happens after PPF account matures? 

You have 3 choices.
Either you can withdraw your maturity amount, or you can extend your account by 
a 5 year block, as many times as you want and make fresh contributions, or you 
can extend the account without making any further contributions, and continue 
to earn interest on it every year. 

If you decide to withdraw your money, your maturity value is exempt from tax. 

If you decide to extend your account and continue making fresh contributions, 
you can extend it for a block of 5 years at a time, as many times as you want, 
you can also make

 No Indian community internalized the civilizing mission of the ancient
Hindu culture as did the Parsis. Only 50,000 remain in Bombay(Now MUMBAI)

The Birla Family built 3 temples in Hyderabad , Jaipur and Delhi .

These days Hindu philanthropy means building temples. They do not understand
social philanthropy.

And these days, the Hindus' lack of enthusiasm for philanthropy has become
cultural. The Hindu cosmos is Hobbesian and the devotee's relationship with
God is transactional. God must be petitioned and placated to swing the
universe's blessings towards you and away from someone else. 
 They believe that society has no role in your advancement and there is no
reason to give back to it because it hasn't given you anything in the first
place.  This is something that needs to be changed and reverted to our
Sanatan Dharm. 

 The Parsis, on the other hand, understood that philanthropy - love of
mankind - recognizes that we cannot progress alone.  That there is such a
thing as the common good. They spent as no Indian community had ever before,
on building  institutions, making them stand out in a culture whose talent
lies in renaming things other people built. 

The Parsis built libraries all over India , they built the National Gallery
of Art. The Indian Institute of Science was built in 1911 by Jamshedji
Nusserwanji Tata, the Tata Institute of  Fundamental Research was built by
Dr Homi Bhabha, the Tata Institute of Social Science was built in 1936 by
the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. The Wadias built hospitals, women's colleges and
the five great low-income Parsi colonies of Bombay . JJ Hospital and Grant
Medical College were founded by Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy. 

By 1924, two out of five Indians - whether Hindu, Muslim or Parsi - joining
the Indian Civil Services were on TATA scholarships.

You would have heard and read about how the young average age of the Indian 
population is advantageous for the Indian economy. While there is no doubt 
about this being true, it is expected that this average will increase in the 
future leading to a larger population in the 60+ age group making retirement 
planning more important than it is currently considered in India. According to 
the latest UNFPA report, the number of Indians above 60 years is expected to 
rise to 55% by 2050. The longevity of life is also expected to increase with a 
more active post-retirement life owing to betterment in medical facilities.

This means that tomorrow’s retirees will have a longer retirement life and must 
therefore accumulate a bigger corpus for their sunset years. The way to ensure 
this is, good retirement planning. However, retirement planning as a concept is 
not very popular in India. Though, people in India do save for their future, 
they do not consider retirement planning as an option. The working class 
population invests in the employee provident fund scheme as it is offered by 
their employers and hence indirectly indulge in some kind of retirement 
planning. But, the self-employed consider saving and accumulating wealth for 
their future to be a better option. Retirement planning involves disciplined 
saving, sound investment to grow the savings and build a sufficient retirement 
corpus and its sensible withdrawal in the post-retirement phase. Until 2009, 
there was no such retirement product from the Indian Government for all the 
citizens of the country like the famous 401 (K) retirement scheme in USA.

The New Pension Scheme (NPS) launched by the Pension Fund Regulatory and 
Development Authority (PFRDA) in 2009 is an answer to the 401 (K) retirement 
scheme in USA. NPS is essentially a Government approved pension scheme for 
Indian citizens in the 18-60 age group. It is mandatory for central and state 
government employees to subscribe to this scheme, while it is optional for 
others. Since being launched in 2009, the scheme has gone through a lot of 
changes in process of making it more popular. The current features of this 
scheme are as follows: -


What are the types of NPS accounts?


The scheme offers two kinds of accounts namely, Tier I and Tier II accounts. 
Tier I account is mandatory for a subscriber of the NPS, whereas Tier II 
account is optional in nature. One can open a Tier II account only if he has a 
Tier I account. Major difference between the two accounts is that in Tier I 
account, there are restrictions on withdrawal whereas, a subscriber is free to 
withdraw money from the Tier II account.

The minimum annual contribution for Tier I account is Rs. 6000, which can be 
paid at once or in installments of at least Rs. 500. The minimum contribution 
in Tier II is Rs. 250 per transaction and at the end of a year, the minimum 
balance in this account should be Rs. 2000 or else the subscriber is liable to 
pay a fine.


What is the fund management cost?


NPS is a cheap product as it charges a fund management fee of 0.0102% for 
Government employees and 0.25% of the invested amount for private sector. When 
the scheme was introduced in 2009, this charge was just 0.0009%. However, later 
it was revised to 0.25% to make the scheme more sensible for the fund 
management houses. There are other account opening, maintenance and transaction 
charges, which are not very high. Even with the revised rate, the NPS continues 
to be the one of the cheapest pension products in the world.


What are the norms for withdrawing the invested amount?


The NPS is a pension scheme in the true sense as it places adequate 
restrictions on withdrawal of invested amount. A subscriber has the following

Two things are full of benefits for the human being, lukewarm water and
pomegranate.

Pomegranate is a seasonal fruit in Pakistan  India so I tried an experiment
with dried pomegranate seeds.

I prepared a decoction boiling the fistful of dried seeds in half liter of
water for 10 minutes, squeezed the seeds, strained the decoction and advised
those patients suffering from painful angina to use a glass of lukewarm
decoction on an empty stomach in the morning.

Amazing result was observed, the decoction of dried pomegranate seeds worked
like a magic, the feelings of tightness and heaviness of chest and the pain
had gone.

It encouraged me to try more experiments on all types of cardiac patients so
I tried other experiments on patients who were suffering from painful
angina, coronary arterial blockage, cardiac ischemia (insufficient blood
flow to the heart muscle) etc., waiting for a bypass surgery. The same
lukewarm decoction was used on an empty stomach in the morning. The patients
experienced quick relief in all symptoms including painful condition.

In another case of coronary arterial blockage the patient started using half
glass of fresh pomegranate juice every day for one year, although all
symptoms were completely relieved within a week but he continued taking it
for a whole year, it completely reversed the plaque build-up and unblocked
his arteries to normal, the angiography report confirmed the evidence.

Thus decoction of dried pomegranate seeds, fresh pomegranate juice or eating
a whole pomegranate on empty stomach in the morning proved to be a miracle
cure for cardiac patients. But the lukewarm dried seeds decoction proved to
be more effective compared to eating a whole pomegranate or fresh
pomegranate juice.

Use of pomegranate in any way has demonstrated even more dramatic effects as
blood thinner, pain killing properties for cardiac patients, lowers LDL
(low-density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol) and raises the HDL
(high-density lipoprotein or good cholesterol). There are more than 50
different types of heart diseases, the most common being coronary artery

Really heart touching. 

I was walking around in a Big Bazar store making shopping, when I saw a
Cashier talking to a boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old.. 

The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this
doll. Then the little boy turned to me and asked: ''Uncle, are you sure I
don't have enough money?'' 

I counted his cash and replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money
to buy the doll, my dear.'' The little boy was still holding the doll in his
hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give
this doll to. 'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much .
I wanted to Gift her for her BIRTHDAY. 

I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister
when she goes there.' His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My Sister has
gone to be with God.. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon
too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my
sister...'' 

My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told
daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from
the mall.' Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing.
He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so my sister won't
forget me.' 'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but
daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.' Then he looked
again at the doll with 
sad eyes, very quietly.. 

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check
again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?'' 

'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his
with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the
doll and even some spare money. 

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!' 

Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep
for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy
could give It to my sister. He heard me!'' 'I also wanted to have enough
money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too
much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose. My mommy loves
white roses.' 

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I
couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local news
paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit
a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died
right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to
decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the
young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family
of the little boy? 

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper
that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a
bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the
young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her
burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her
hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I
left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for
ever... 

The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to
this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had
taken all this away from him.

FOCUS
I was jogging one day and i noticed a person in front of me, about 1/4 of
mile. I could tell he was running a little slower than me and I thought,
good, i shall try to catch him. I had about a mile to go my path before i
needed to turn off. 

 So i started running faster and faster. Every block, i was gaining on him
just a little bit. After just a few minutes i was only about 100 yards
behind him, so i really picked up the pace and push myself. You would have
thought i was running in the last leg of London Olympic competition. I was
determined to catch him. 


Finally, i did it! I caught and passed him by. On the inside i felt so good.

I beat him of course, he didn't even know we were racing. 
After i passed him, i realized i had been so focused on competing against
him that i had missed my turn. I had gone nearly six blocks past it. I had
to turn around and go all back. Isn't that what happens in life when we
focus on competing with co-workers, neighbors, friends, family, trying to
outdo them or trying to prove that we are more successful or more important?



We spend our time and energy running after them and we miss out on our own
paths to our God given destinies. The problem with unhealthy competition is
that its a never ending cycle. 
There will always be somebody ahead of you, someone with better job, nicer
car, more money in the bank, more education, a prettier wife, a more
handsome husband, better behaved children, etc. But realize that You can be
the best that you can be, you are not competing with no one. Some people
are insecure because they pay too much attention 2 what others are doing,
where others are going, wearing  driving. 
Take what God has given you, the height, weight  personality. Dress well 
wear it proudly! You'll be blessed by it. 

 Stay focused and live a healthy life. 


There's no competition in DESTINY, run your own RACE and wish others WELL!!!

when we go, so we don't have to be too thrifty...

Spend the money that should be spent, enjoy what should be enjoyed, donate

grandchildren, for you don't want them to become parasites who are waiting
for the day you will die!!

Don't worry about what will happen after we are gone, because when we return
to dust, we will feel nothing about praises or criticisms. The time to enjoy
the worldly life and your hard earned wealth will be over!

Don't worry too much about your children, for children will have their own
destiny and should find their own way. Don't be your children's slave. Care
for them, love them, give them gifts but also enjoy your money while you
can. Life should have more to it than working from the cradle to the grave!!

Don't expect too much from your children. Caring children, though caring,
would be too busy with their jobs and commitments to render much help.

Uncaring children may fight over your assets even when you are still alive,
and wish for your early demise so they can inherit your properties and
wealth.

Your children take for granted that they are rightful heirs to your wealth;
but that you have no claims to their money.

50-year old like you, don't trade in your health for wealth by working
yourself to an early grave anymore... Because your money may not be able to
buy your health...

When to stop making money, and how much is enough (hundred thousands,
million, ten million)?

Out of thousand hectares of good farm land, you can consume only three
quarts (of rice) daily; out of a thousand mansions, you only need eight
square meters of space to rest at night.

So, as long as you have enough food and enough money to spend, that is good
enough. You should live happily. Every family has its own problems. Just do
not compare with others for fame and social status and see whose
children are doing better, etc., but challenge others for happiness, health,
enjoyment, quality of life and longevity...

Don't worry about things that you can't change because it doesn't help and
it may spoil your health.

You have to create your own well-being and find your own place of
happiness.As long as you are in good mood and good health, think about happy
things,do happy things daily and have fun in doing, then you will pass your
time happily every day.

One day passes without happiness, you will lose one day.
One day passes with happiness, and then you gain one day.

In good spirit, sickness will cure; in a happy spirit, sickness will cure
faster; in high and happy spirits; sickness will never come.

With good mood, suitable amount of exercise, always in the sun, variety of
foods, reasonable amount of vitamin and mineral intake, hopefully you will
live another 20 or 30 years of healthy life of pleasure.

Performing A Spiritual Audit Ourselves At The End Of The Day


Our normal day at the office or/and at home is filled with lots of actions
and interactions. On a normal day, without realizing consciously, we create
almost 30,000-40,000 thoughts. So, not only are we active physically but
extremely active on a subtle or non-physical level also.  Imagine sleeping
with all this burden of thoughts, words and actions which have been created
throughout the day, many of which have been waste and negative in nature.
What would be the resulting quality of my sleep? So it is extremely
important to perform a spiritual/emotional audit or evaluation at the end of
each day. 

In a lot of professional sectors of life today, people recognize the need
for reflection and audit, not only of financial records but also a general
evaluation of the respective sector, to maintain and improve both the
service to customers and the job satisfaction of people working in the
sector. Checking my own behavior, as a daily exercise; not just checking,
but also bringing about respective changes for the next day, enables me to
continue to develop and grow, as a human being and in the quality of my work
and personal and professional relationships. Have gone through the
self-evaluation, it is also advised to become completely light by submitting
the mistakes made and heaviness accumulated in the day to the Supreme Being.
Doing this helps me put a full-stop to the same and settle all my spiritual
accounts at the end of the day. I need to put an end to all commas (when
looking at scenes that caused me to slow down and reduced the speed of my
progress), question marks (when looking at scenes which caused a why, what,
how, when, etc in my consciousness) and exclamation marks (when looking
at negative or waste scenes, which were unexpected and surprising) which
were created in the day's activities. Along with remembering what all good
happened during the day, what did I achieve and what good actions did I
perform, there is lots to forget at the end of the day, which should not be
carried into my sleep at any cost. Disturbed, thought-filled, unsound sleep,
will result in a not so fresh body and mind the next morning, which will
cause my mood to be disturbed, adversely affecting the following day. 

 

A useful exercise in this regard is keeping a daily chart for about 3
personality traits or points and filling it up every night (lesser than 3 is
also fine, but not more , because then you might feel lazy in keeping the
chart after a few days and also you might lose focus and the personality
traits may not transform as much as you want). You could either evaluate
yourself with a yes or no or perform a percentage wise evaluation like 50%
or 90% for e.g. We have mentioned below, some of the common traits from
which you could select the traits to keep a daily chart for. You could
incorporate some other specific traits (not mentioned in this list), which
you want to change or develop, depending on your personality:

In the entire day, please try to find answers ourselves to following - not
only in my words and actions, but also in my thoughts:


* Did I see everyone's specialties and keep good wishes for each one, in
spite of obvious weaknesses being visible?
* Did I remain free from all forms of anger, like irritation, frustration,
grudge, revenge, etc.? 
* Did I ensure that I neither give nor take sorrow, hurt, pain from anyone? 
* Did I remain free from waste and negative?
* Did I remain ego less?
* Did I remain untouched by name, fame, praise, insult?
* Did I remain stable?
* Did I remain free from judgments, criticism, jealousy, comparison, hatred,
etc.?
* Did I keep a conscious of serving each one whom I met?
* Did I bring the 8 main powers into practice and experience being powerful?
* Did I remain in self-respect and give respect to everyone?
* Did I practice being soul-conscious in actions and interactions?
* Did I take a one minute break every hour to reflect, meditate and control
the traffic of thoughts in the mind?

them? Is it out of necessity or just a desire which you can avoided altogether

One of our Bangalore clients told us last year that he has seen a lot of his

are people buying 25 shirts, when they only need only 12. There are people, who 
don’t have the `haisiyat` of driving an Alto Car, but they have bought a Honda 
City just to show off !

It just violates the rule of spending!.

Slowly but surely, this will take them towards disaster. It will come as 
surprise (to them) one day. Spending is a core activity of your life. You earn 
so that you can spend it,

Right here said the Angel, as he picked up the scientist from among the
reproductions carried him off. The whole purpose of the scientist his
formula of reproduction failed as he could not control his pride, so he lost
his life. So when man's Knowledge Skills takes him to the top of the ladder
makes him successful, however the three letter word EGO can pull him down
to earth immediately at its double speed. 

So don't allow Ego to kill yourself, Instead;

Two men went fishing. One man was an experienced fisherman, the other
wasn't. 

Every time the experienced fisherman caught a big fish, he put it in his ice
chest to keep it fresh. Whenever the inexperienced fisherman caught a big
fish, he threw it back. 

The experienced fisherman watched this go on all day and finally got tired
of seeing this man waste good fish. 

Why do you keep throwing back all the big fish you catch? he asked. 

The inexperienced fisherman replied, I only have a small frying pan. 

Sometimes, like that fisherman, we throw back the big plans, big dreams, and
big opportunities that God gives us, for a simple reason that Our faith is
too small. 

We laugh at that fisherman who didn't figure out that all he needed was a
bigger frying pan; yet how ready are we to increase the size of our faith? 

Whether it's a problem or a possibility, God will never give us anything
bigger than we can handle. That means we can confidently walk into anything

Woman 1: I had a fine evening, how was yours?
Woman 2: It was a disaster. My husband came home, ate his dinner in 3 
mins  fell asleep in 2 mins. How was yours?
Woman 1: Oh it was amazing! 

My husband came home and took me out for a romantic dinner.

After dinner we walked for an hour. 

When we came home he lit the candles around the house.

It was like a fairy tale!

At the same time, their husbands are talking at work 
Husband 1: How was your evening?
Husband 2: Great. I came home, dinner was on the table, I ate  fell 
asleep. What about you?
Husband 1: It was horrible. I came home, there's no dinner, 

they cut the electricity because I forgot to pay the bill; 

so I took her out for dinner which was so expensive that didn't 

have money left for a cab. We walked home which took an hour  

when we got home remember there was no electricity 

so I had to light candles all over the house!!

Moral: Presentation does matter. No matter what the reality is!!

executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, 

going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out
from between parked cars
and slowed down when he thought he saw something. 

As his car passed, no children appeared.
Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!
He slammed on the brakes and backed up the Jagto
the spot where the brick had been thrown. 

 The angry driverthen jumped out of the car,
grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up
against a parked car shouting, 

 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what
the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that 
brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why
did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic. 


'Please, misterplease, I'm sorry but I didn't
know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the
brick because no one else would stop' With tears
dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth
pointed to a spot just around a parked car. 'It's my
brother,' he said, 'He rolled off the curb and fell
out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up.' 

Now sobbing, the boy
asked the stunned executive,
'Would you, please, help me get him back
into his wheelchair? He's hurt and
he's too heavy for me.' 

Moved beyond words,
the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling
lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the
handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took
out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh
scrapes and cuts.. A quick look told him everything
was going to be okay. 

 'Thank you and may God bless you,'
the grateful child told the stranger.
Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy
push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk
toward their home. 

it was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar.
The damage was very noticeable, 

but the driver never bothered to repair
the dented side door. He kept the dent there to
remind him of this message: 

'Don't go through life
so fast that someone has to throw
a brick at you to get your attention!'
God whispers to our souls and
speaks to our hearts... Sometimes when we don't have
time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us.
It's our choice to listen or not.

Doctors caution against chain mails on miracle cures

Following Yash Chopra’s death, hoax emails suggesting ‘natural cures for 
dengue’ are doing the rounds. 

People are forwarding chain mails which claim that the juice of papaya leaves 
can immediately boost platelet count in the body and is a miracle cure for 
dengue fever. 

City doctors say it is a complete hoax. Dr Nupur Krishnan, a clinical 
nutritionist from Kemps Corner, said that people should take such claims with a 
pinch of salt. She says that even if papaya leaves have nutrients capable of 
increasing platelet count, the human body might not be capable of absorbing 
such nutrients. 

“People often think that eating leafy vegetables such as spinach and fenugreek 
will increase haemoglobin levels in blood. But certain acids present in such 
foods prevents the body from absorbing them,’’ she said. 

Doctors say that claims for such treatments are misleading. Dr Pratit Samdani, 
a general physician, said that since diseases like malaria and dengue are 
caused by a virus, the platelet count increases when the virus recedes. Papaya 
leaves have nothing to do with it. “Often patients suffering from malaria drink 
such juices or place papaya leaves on their body, but it does not have any 
effect. The claim is untrue and there has been no scientific evidence to prove 
that such a remedy is effective,’’ he said. 

Similarly, a website dedicated to unveiling scams on the Internet has posted 
that the same claim was made before for pegaga juice in 2005. The latest email 
is worded exactly like the one that surfaced in 2005. “Pegaga is the Malaysian 
term for Centella asiatica. The botanical name of papaya is Carica papaya. They 
are neither the same plant nor are they related,’’ states the website.

leaves . From a platelet count of 45 after 20 liters of blood transfusion, and 
after drinking the raw papaya leaf juice, his platelet count jumps instantly to

was a rainy day and his son was restless and bored, with nothing to do.
Finally, in desperation, the man picked up an old magazine and showed a map
of the world in the magazine to his son. Then the man tore the page from the
magazine, ripped it into little bits and threw the scraps all over the room
floor with the words: Raj, if you can put this all together. I'll give you
Rs.10.

 

The man thought this would take Raj most of the morning. But within ten
minutes there was a knock on his door. It was his son with the completed
puzzle. The man was amazed to see Raj finished so soon, with the pieces of
paper neatly arranged and the map of the world back in order.

 

Son, how did you get that done so fast? the man asked. Oh, it was easy
said Raj. On the other side there was a picture of a man. I just put a
piece of paper on the bottom, put the picture of the man together, put a
piece of paper on top, and then turned it over. I figured that if I got the
man right, the world would be right.

 

The man smiled and handed his son Rs.10. And you've given my sermon for

Happy Navratri to you.Today an interesting incident happened.

 

I met a person today, whom I meet regularly in course of official dealings.

Most times, even though, I had noticed that he has had a couple of pegs of
alcohol, 

I never asked about it ,any time, just to maintain business etiquette !

 

Today, I gave the person, the phone no.s of 

Alcoholic Anonymous (AA)-Hyderabad and also made him call the local
representative.

 

After the phone call to AA, the person told that he had tried many times
but, could not quit drinking. Today ,in the morning, he had prayed to GOD at
Hanuman temple that he wanted to quit alcohol !!

Strange are the ways of the Mind/God/Universe..Whatever you call!! He made
that call to Alcoholic Anonymous-today.

I wish that his prayers get fulfilled   he is able to quit the drinking
habit..
