Is this advanced recovery method the same as reformatting. I know I have to
back up my files and I'll have to use my Windows 7 disk. I'm trying to
figure out how much sighted help I'll need if I do this.

Hello Annette:
In order to hide data in excel 2010 first, select the range of data
you are
wanting to hide. Next, access the format command of the home ribbon
or
simply press the key tip alt h followed by O. Now arrow up until you
arrive
to the hide and unhide submenu, expand the submenu, use your up and
down
arrow keys and press enter on the preferred choice.

To unhide, you must select the data before and after the hidden range,
for
example, if you have row c hidden, select rows b and d. Return to the

format command of the home ribbon, back to the hide and unhide submenu
and
press enter on the preferred choice.

System Restore: frequently asked questions

Here are answers to some common questions about System Restore.

How does System Restore work?
System Restore uses restore points to return your system files and
settings
to an earlier point in time without affecting personal files. Restore
points

are created automatically every week, and just before significant system
events, such as the installation of a program or device driver. You can
also
create a restore point manually. For more information about System
Restore,

see What is System Restore?

To open System Restore
Before you start System Restore, save any open files and close all
programs.
Once you confirm your restore point, System Restore restarts your
computer.

Click to open System Restore.‍ If you're prompted for an administrator
password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Can I undo the changes System Restore makes?
Yes. Every time you use System Restore, a restore point is created before
proceeding, so you can undo the changes if they don't fix your problem. If
you use System Restore when the computer is in safe mode or using the
System

Recovery Options, you cannot undo the restore operation. However, you can
run System Restore again and choose a different restore point, if one
exists.

To undo the changes System Restore makes
Click to open System Restore.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator
password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Click Undo System Restore, and then click Next.

Review your choices, and then click Finish.

What files are changed during a system restore?
System Restore affects Windows system files, programs, and registry
settings. It can also make changes to scripts, batch files, and other
types
of executable files created under any user account on your computer.
System

Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or
photos, so it cannot help you restore a deleted file. If you have backups
of

your files, you can restore the files from a backup.

How do I choose a restore point?
System Restore automatically recommends the most recent restore point
created before a significant change, such as installing a program. You can
also choose from a list of restore points. Try using restore points
created

just before the date and time you started noticing problems. The
descriptions of the restore points that are created automatically
correspond

with the name of an event, such as Windows Update installing an update.
System Restore returns your computer to the state that it was in before
the

restore point that you chose.

How long are restore points saved?
Restore points are saved until the disk space System Restore reserves is
filled up. As new restore points are created, old ones are deleted. If you
turn off system protection (the feature that creates restore points) on a
disk, all restore points are deleted from that disk. When you turn system
protection back on, new restore points are created. For more information
about system protection, see What is system protection?

What if System Restore doesn't fix the problem?
If System Restore doesn't fix the problem, you can undo the restore
operation or try choosing a different restore point. If System Restore
doesn't display any restore points to choose from, make sure you have
system
protection turned on and that you have at least 300 MB of free space left
on

your hard disk if it is 500 MB or larger, or have at least 50 MB of free
space if your hard disk is smaller than 300 MB. If System Restore doesn't
fix the problem, you can also try an advanced recovery method. For more
information, see Choosing an advanced recovery method.

I also found it by using the search in the start menu. When you get to the

the button that says Turn Off. The first time I tried it I pressed the

Re: [Blind-Computing] searching for a file

2012-09-18 Thread Annette Carr
After doing a lot of searching, I found a way to search for a file with a
specific modified date. Once you have opened the drive or folder where you
want to look for a file, tab to the search box and type:

System.DateModified:mm/dd/

Be aware that there are capital letters and lower case ones. I do not know
if it matters if you have to be case sensitive. You will also need to do a
2 digit month and day, and a 4 digit year.

Now I've got to be honest, I did not finish typing in the above text. At
some point I heard JAWS announcing something and I then found that I could
use my up and down arrows to select if I wanted to look for a file from last
week, earlier this week, yesterday, etc. I picked yesterday and pressed
enter and I got the results I needed.

Here is the URL to where I found this info:

http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/Advanced-tips-for-searching-in-W
indows

Once on the webpage, press T and you will find a small table with examples
of other search terms.

the ctrl shift 0 to unhide no longer works beginning with JAWS 13

Hello Annette:
In order to hide data in excel 2010 first, select the range of data you are
wanting to hide. Next, access the format command of the home ribbon or
simply press the key tip alt h followed by O. Now arrow up until you arrive
to the hide and unhide submenu, expand the submenu, use your up and down
arrow keys and press enter on the preferred choice.

To unhide, you must select the data before and after the hidden range, for
example, if you have row c hidden, select rows b and d. Return to the

format command of the home ribbon, back to the hide and unhide submenu and
press enter on the preferred choice.

Hi
My Hp 6000 has a physical button also. However, my acer is well basic.
It assumes that I want the mouse pad on. My thought was that if I could

My personal laptop has a button above the mouse pad that lets me toggle the
mouse pad on and off, and I love it.

This work laptop has one of those eraser type mouse sticks in the middle
of the keyboard. I'm thinking that if I turn off the mouse pad, the mouse
stick will still be active. If not, the mouse dependent people will just
have to move over to my side of the keyboard. Smile!!

[Blind-Computing] I Have a problem with my Email accounts

2012-09-18 Thread Rosario Perez
Hello Listers, I am having a problem with my Email Accounts. I am using
Outlook 2010. I have Windows 7 and I use Jaws 13.

I have 3 Email accounts and for some strange reasons all of a sudden one of
the emailing list that I am subscribed is sending the messages to my other
email account. I don't know why it happened because I have never sent emails
from that email address and the owner of the list told me that I was an no
mail. I never put myself on no mail either. I just don't know what happened!
By the way, the Emailing list is a Google group. My other email address is a
Gmail address. Could that be the reason? I am subscribed with my Hotmail
address so, I just don't know why I am getting the messages from that list
to my Gmail instead to my Hotmail.

Is there a way to get the messages to my Hotmail address again? Thank you
very much. I hope that I am making sense.

Sincerely,
