[Blind-Computing] Gmail Messages on the Server
I use Gmail as my only e-mail account. Is there any way to delete messages on the server efficiently, so I do not need to do each individually with JAWS? First, they are deleted and then they go into the Trash which then needs to be deleted forever. This is cumbersome and takes so much time. Thanks for all ideas. Incidentally, I did manage to get my volume control back in the systems Tray, but have no idea how I accidentally did it. Thanks, Jacob. Re: [Blind-Computing] gmail in windows mail
David, Thank you for those steps. That seemed to work. My bad was I didn't check the boxes that needed to be checked. The last time I set up an email account in gmail using windows mail was over a year ago so I forgot some important details. Again, Thank you. -Original Message- From: david Sent: Tuesday, November 06, 2012 6:00 AM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] gmail in windows mail To configure Windows Mail for your Gmail address: 1. Thanks dave and Rick. Rick, I wasn't aware that with the outgoing it depended upon the ISP you had and thought gmail had it's own. I will try again later tonight. I, however, typed in everything that David typed in but maybe the boxes that needed to be checked wasn't checked. I don't remember at this point. Thanks guys. I will try again later. Hi Kimsan, Who is your internet service provider? Your out-going mail settings will vary depending on your ISP. My ISP is A T&T. The incoming setting I use for my GMail account is pop.gmail.com and the incoming port is 995. The out-going settings are for my ISP, not GMail. Re: [Blind-Computing] Gmail Account
Norman, Are you using an IOS device? Because, putting my gmail account on my iPhone, I didn't have to do any of this procedure. Just entered the email and password, the i Phone did the rest. Mail is already coming through and so far it's not been any sissues to access the emails and/or perform an actions within the mail app on my phone. - Original Message - From: "Norman King" To: Sent: Saturday, September 15, 2012 10:30 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Gmail Account Hi. Hi all, I am using Jaws 13 XP Pro IE8 and going to www.gmail.com for email. Many messages are still in my in box and I am trying to delete messages. I go to search edit box and type in:inbox is:unread a huge list of unread messages are listed. According to GMail help and other sources on web I should be able to check select all and then select all conversations to delete all these messages at once. Unfortunately I cannot find the check boxes for select all or conversation. Any ideas? I went into standard display and html display and no luck. I went through the menus and did not see anything helpful. So any suggestions appreciated. I can tell you that in the basic HTML view, I have never found a check all checkbox. It sure would be handy. Hi Pete, We went into our friends' Gmail account and found that a box that is supposed to send all her email to her Inbox, had gotten unchecked & subsequently all her email was going into her Spam folder. Naturally we didn't see this settings error until we had wasted a bunch of time moving her email from the Spam folder to the InBox! LOL Thank you very much for your input. Yes; the outgoing port is 465 and incoming depends; in POP 995 and now I found out 993 in IMAP. I use POP so that has worked fine both in OE and now Windows Live Mail that's very similar.
